Warriors of Tavikh #1

Fated to the Alien Warrior

Rate this book
London

Life has sure kicked me in the teeth. After I’m arrested for stealing, I’m given two choices: prison or get shipped to the human settlement on the planet Tavikh. Since orange isn’t my color, I guess off-planet it is.

Except when our ship lands we’re attacked by vicious aliens no one warned us about. I’m suddenly rethinking my decision. Just as I swear I’m about to die, a towering alien with long, flowing golden hair and muscles rippling beneath gorgeous purple skin saves me.

When the battle is over and the good guys seem to have won, my savior tells me I’m his fated mate.

I hate to break it to him, but I don’t believe in fate.

Zander

As shefir of the Tavikhi, it’s my duty to lead our tribe and fight against the Krijese. When word comes that another Terran ship has arrived, we rush to defend them against our brutal enemies.

I’m unprepared, though, for my mating marks to burn and brighten in color when I rescue one of the human females. Is it truly possible that the goddess, Deeka, has chosen her as my keeshla—my fated mate?

Despite her continued denial of the mate bond, the attraction between us flares hotter than our sun. I must do everything to convince her that we are fated to be together. Even seduce her.

Fated to the Alien Warrior is a full-length romance with no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA. Each book in the series is a standalone that features a different couple.

But there’s still a few questions that I’m assuming will play out in the other storylines. Very similar to how Ruby Dixon’s couples are complete in each story, but there’s continuing plot points throughout each book)

Should I read in order?
This is the first book in Hale’s Warriors of Tavikh series.

Basic plot:
London has chosen to be sent to a new planet instead of prison.

Give this a try if you want:
- science fiction romance (sometime in Earth’s future)
- mostly planet Tavikh setting
- fated mates
- alien hero/human heroine
- huge hero/tiny heroine – London’s head barely reaches Zander’s shoulders
- survival themes
- never been kissed hero
- medium steam – 3 full scenes

First line:
Maybe I should have let them throw me in prison.

My thoughts:
I was able to give Hale a try in the Supra Velum anthology (which is amazing BTW if you haven’t grabbed it yet!) and I really loved her contribution titled Fated to the Lost Warrior. So when I saw a new series starting by her I was very eager to dive in!

Overall I liked this novel. It sets up a society of humans and aliens – humans that are choosing space exile over a prison sentence. They are quite shocked to find the planet housing other alien species upon arrival. I enjoyed the mains, and liked getting to know an alien world. And I love fated mates and enjoyed in this one how there still had to be time spent on the bond – the hero is all in from the beginning, but the heroine needs some convincing, which is my favorite relationship type!

I could have used a bit more from this story – I wanted a bit more background on the heroine as I felt I still didn’t know her super well towards the end of the book. The story is a bit slow, which I didn’t mind overall, but I think with it being a bit of a shorter novel it made it drag a bit. It felt like awhile before the mains were on page together and then the reveals of the planet/society structure were still on the slower side. I'm hopeful though that the series will build with each book and we'll get more background over time and get to see these characters again in future books 😍

It has left me curious and I definitely want to see what else is to come with the Warriors of Tavikh series!

I did enjoy the steam – I could have used just a bit more in details and length of the scene, but was happy with the steam pay off after the slower start.

I also really love the cover. That long, flowing hair is making me swoon.

3.5 stars rounded up for sweet alien goodness hitting the spot

The story begins sometime in the future where Earth isn’t a wonderful place to live and space travel is an option. London (h) has had a difficult and lonely life and has chosen to go to an alien planet in lieu of going to prison for stealing. On the ship she befriends three other women who are traveling to the other planet for their own reasons. When the women arrive though, the alien planet has been misrepresented and instead of a new opportunity, they find the settlement far different and under attack by vicious aliens while being protected by nicer aliens. One of which grabs London to save her, sparking off an instant draw (which we know from him is a mate bond).

This is an easy sci-fi, fated mates read between London and Zander (H), who’s the leader of the nice alien tribe trying to help the humans. Some background is given on both London and Zander but the overall tone and pace are light and quick. I did wish for some more depth and fleshing out at times. The alien world’s plants and animals are mentioned in places but some of the context and background is missing to get a more full picture, just as one example. I still enjoyed settling into the strong female friendships, the instantly devoted alien hero, and all the alien elements.

Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and h was a virgin, unsure about H (I’m guessing he was but it’s speculated and not confirmed).

There’s a steep learning curve for the new humans on this world considering the significant danger posed by the vicious aliens and the primitive resources and culture that the women need to adapt to. London was flexible and a sweetheart. Zander was a strong leader who was also caring, patient, and compassionate. I liked that the mate bond drew these two together but that their personalities also meshed well. London doesn’t immediately jump on the mate train, however she doesn’t reject Zander either. He’s protective and welcoming of her, gently showing her what they could be. The steamy scenes were well written and do incorporate some tail action, wink wink, but I wish there had been more emotional intimacy and connection built on page.

The supporting characters, human and alien, were all intriguing and likable. London’s friends were a mix of personalities and abilities and Zander’s tribe had an adorable child as well as potential future mates for the ladies. Zander has a missing brother whose story was featured in an anthology, which sparked my curiosity about this new series. I’m curious when the events of that will intersect with the series.

The ending is HFN with the tribe adjusting to new, human members, the mating being accepted, and the vicious aliens posing some level of danger in the future. The epilogue is from the POV of one of London’s friends and a lead in to her future romance. You can also download an extended epilogue, several months later that’s slice of life and shows a peek into London and Zander’s future that was precious and adorable. I’ll definitely continue and am on board for more well written and light sci-fi with solid main characters.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I did find myself wanting to read this and was interested in seeing what happened but there was a lot in this book that I felt didn't make sense or was not really genuine.

**MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS**

What I liked:
- Hot alien males (with tales)
- The alien world was interesting and there was some world building without it being too much.
- The way the alien tribe works together to survive. Everyone does their part, or what they can, and everyone looks out for each other.
- Girl power and found family! Girls gotta stick together.
- How the MMCs realize they have found their fated mate

Things that I think could have been better:
- The relationship between the FMC and MMC had no build up at all. It went from "I'm new to this planet and only know your name" to "YES! I'm your mate!" instantly. Would have loved to see more of a romance between the two and maybe the fmc making the mmc work for it a bit more.
- Did not vibe with the spicy scenes. The first one was over way too fast for their first time. The next time when they had penetrative s*x there was no talk about discomfort (except for a brief mention of pain after the fact), what was going to happen, nervousness or anything that I would expect from someone who was a virgin (FMC) and especially with a virgin who was about to do it with an alien. Overall they weren't necessarily bad but I didn't really enjoy reading them.
-The alien tribe seemed sort of primitive to me from what was described on how they live, hunt, etc but somehow they all had translators that learn languages? Even the kids. There was an attempt to explain this but not enough to make it realistic to me.

Altogether this was a fun read, and I do want to read the next book. I feel like there may be more banter, sass, and groveling between the next couple. Looking forward to see what else we get from this world and series!

Standard alien romance, but decent!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💜💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Chemistry: 🧪🧪🧪
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🤓🤪😍
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: London - she was arrested for stealing on Earth and had the choice to go to an over-populated prison for fifty years or to be sent on a two-month spaceship journey to the planet Tavikh, where there is a human settlement and the settlers are expected to work on a small patch of land they are given for the rest of their lives. It was her first time headed to space and more than once she wished she had chosen prison. But she wanted a fresh start, and Tavikh looked like that would be the way.

The Heroes: Zander - he is the leader of his people on the planet Tavikh and he can’t understand the humans that live on the planet. They think the humans want to get themselves killed. He and his warriors keep trying to help the humans, but they don’t seem to want any help. They are terrible at hunting for one thing and completely careless and unaware of the bigger threats to their existence. They are aware that another ship will be landing soon, and they know that with each new ship, the attacks by the Krijese worsen and many humans had died as a result.

The Story: The humans live on the lands between the Tavikhi and the Krijese, with the Krijese trying to encroach on those lands because they are the enemies of the Tavikhi. As soon as London and the people she met on the ship arrive on Tavikh, they are attacked by brutal aliens. She is thrown over the shoulder of a large alien and he runs away. She fights against her captor as much as she can. Zander brings her to the settlement, though he knows she is his mate, then he threatens the people of the settlement that they will soon die if they don’t allow his people to help them learn to become warriors.

This book didn’t really have any originality, but it had a decent storyline, and it was fairly short but had enough world building and character development to make it worth the listen. It was a compact but compelling setup—like a classic alien romance blueprint polished with just enough grit and urgency to keep things moving. There was definitely a tradeoff between originality and execution. Even if the bones feel familiar, solid pacing, character arcs, and world-building can carry a story, especially if the emotional beats land well.

London’s choice between a dystopian Earth prison and the unknown harshness of Tavikh sets her up with a redemptive arc that’s easy to root for. And Zander, carrying the “why won’t these reckless humans listen” energy, adds that perfect mix of exasperation and protectiveness. The way he recognizes her as his mate but still threatens the settlers? That says a lot about his desperation and the stakes.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Penelope Ann Rose and Chris Chambers. Penelope Rose has a fantastic voice, which is very soft and feminine, I really enjoyed her tone, and she was easy to listen to. Chris Chambers was not one of my favorites, but he did have a decent voice and read at a steady pace.

It's good for what it is but does nothing more beyond it. By the end, we still don't know much about either the main character or love Interest. They're just two fill ins for a quick romance

2.75-3⭐️ It’s giving ✨Ice Planet Barbarian✨ and I am totally here for it. 😌🤌

• Hot alien mmc who upon touching the fmc, immediately realizes that she is his mate.
• Kindhearted fmc who has been through a lot and finally found someone who is her safe heaven.
• Primitive planet 🪐
• Tribal life
• Even though it was a bit „instalusty“, the main characters had good chemistry, however they were mates, so I didn’t mind the instalust in this instance!🤷🏼‍♀️😂

This was just a cute little read for when you crave something fun yet uncomplicated. ☺️

There’s something about a human being sent to an alien planet that has be entertained. Absolutely obsessed with the idea of colonization (but not the actual thing just fictional lol) finding out how to survive in a different world and how you fit in. Meeting new people and finding your family within these troubling times. It’s not a serious book though everything is done pretty quickly, just a fun time.

This was a pretty good start to a new alien series for me!

Nothing stood out as too unique but I liked the characters!

I do wish we saw more of them having time together. In the beginning he doesn’t tell her he’s her mate instantly so I thought oh yay, it will be more rational than other fated mate stories - but then he tells her the next day! 😂

But overall it was a fast and cute read!

This started off strong—like, “ooo I’m gonna love this” strong. Then it tripped down a flight of stairs, caught fire, and quietly crumbled into meh.

It has major Ice Planet vibes, but more like the budget-friendly Temu version. The writing is actually enjoyable (except for the spice, which gave sad trombone energy—wah wah waaaaah). And while I found the characters endearing and the made-up alien words kind of charming, the plot just didn’t hold me. It’s short, but I still struggled to stay focused.

There’s instalust (not the worst), but it didn’t quite sizzle. Spice? Lukewarm. Longevity in the furs? Questionable. The female friendship was a nice touch, but again, insta-family vibes felt a little too easy.

It’s like the book had all the right ingredients but in too-small doses. A solid maybe—but it needed more… everything.

I love, love, loved this book! I absolutely devoured this one and was delighted to hear that it is the first in a series. I can’t wait to go back to this planet and read as aliens discover their mates 😍 I absolutely adored the found family that this group of 5 human women made out of fellow passengers on the ship heading to a different planet. This alien race had purple skin, feline like eyes, a tail that knows what it is doing and can find the cl*t first shot. At least this first one 😏 I can’t wait to read the next one, I wasn’t ready for this one to end!

❤️ Tropes ❤️
💋 fated mates
💋 secret cinnamon roll
💋 touch her and ☠️
💋 tail action 😘

London is off to a whole different planet. It’s not like she had much of a choice, and she has nothing left on Earth so it is clearly the better choice. Only no one informed them there were aliens already inhabiting the planet. One race that attacked them as soon as they got there. And one that protected them and the leader saved London’s life. And then followed her around all day. What the ever loving heck is going on.

Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the copy, all thoughts are my own.

This was a sweet and steamy read with great world building. I love getting immersed in alien cultures, and this sci-fi romance sure delivered! I also enjoyed the found family vibe of the story. There's action scenes too, so the book kept me on my toes. The overarching plot line has me hooked, so I'll be coming back for more of this series!

This was a fast paced read, it has a bit of a mild to low stakes feel to it for me. Definitely on the lighter side of Alien Romance

I loved that London found a group of friends to build her found family out of. I really Liked Remi and can't wait to find out who she will be mated to.

Loved it. Zander is the whole package. Commanding, yet compassionate, patient, thoughtful, fair, a good listener, a great warrior, and super sexy too.
London has had a rough life, and she is now getting the chance to break free from her life on Earth and reinvent herself. She is making friends for the first time, and they are all getting a fresh start.
Zander and London have great chemistry, and while she isn't too sure about the mate thing at first, Zander is very convincing. They make a great couple, and I love how welcoming his people are to the human settlers.
Her new friends are great too. I can see each one pairing off and becoming the mate to one of the aliens. This is a good start to a new series. 4.5 stars.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

new world new life new friends new mate

FATED TO THE ALIEN WARRIOR (Warriors of Tavikh, #1) . . . London was a woman all alone in the world. She did something that was wrong and was dealt a hand she took a gamble on. The gamble start off a little rocky but she comes out of it all with a found family. She finds her tribe. She finds her strength. She finds a mate. London was one of a small ground of young women bound for the planet Tavikh. There were promised a plot of land and a fresh start. Arriving they are greeted by something much more than a fresh start. Aliens. Purple aliens. Aliens that want to kill them. Just as London thought it was no way to get worse. She stumbles and falls.

Zander was the leader of his tribe of people. He was determined to save the human settlement from the outside forces working to extinguish them. Zander struggled with his own problems. He missed his family. He worried over his baby brother that has gone missing. He worried if he would ever find his fated mate. He worried for the future of his people. He worried of the blatant disregard of a rival tribe encroachment on the neutral lands and their protection of the humans. He finds his mate in the pursuit to protect the new arrivals from a savage slaughter.

Zander has to overcome the shock of things that London has experienced. London has to come to terms that the fresh start she was promised was not the case. She has to understand she is the human mate to an alien warrior. She has more than herself to think of. She has her found family and just common human decency.

I loved the different characteristics of the women. I loved that they took the time to connect with each other and make a bond. I like the interest that has been woven into the first installment of the Warriors of Tavikh series. I look forward to the next installation.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Entertaining Wonderful characters Easy-to-read Strong females

So this was a middle of the road, low stakes zero angst minimal action alien romance.

First, I just really really want to know, why are they there.
Like, they all were criminals told they had to go there or prison, or people running away or forced out or whatever. They are put on a ship and dropped on this planet.
There doesn't seem to be any formal leadership or government, or plan. There's no description of a first contact party or that the humans made any connection with the planet before it started populating it. No resource they are gathering for earth, or planet mapping or anything that would benefit the people who sent them. No law is mentioned there or order of any kind.

And if Earth is overcrowded and this beautiful planet is available to be inhabited, they decide to just use it to dump people they don't want? At great cost to themselves, they just deliver these people and supplies every once and a while? Without even checking if it's inhabited?

Are humans space faring? Have they been to other planets? Are they connected to other species? This isn't discussed.

How did they find this planet? Why did they decide this was the one? Why would they not have made contact with the other inhabitants before creating a settlement? What is their goal?

Are there other species on the planet? This is one tribe of good aliens and one tribe of bad aliens and that's it. Is the planet tiny or are there other places?

On the planet everyone is happy and accepting. It doesn't seem like they have any technology , but also doesn't seem like they are surprised by an alien spieces arriving.... Everyone is very chill. The friendly alien race is perfect. The "bad guys" are evil. The humans are barely a consideration other than these 5 women who I'm assuming will make up the series. Even though there is based on the numbers they gave, at least 250-500 people.
Other than breast tissue on women, apparently all sex acts and sex parts are exactly the same.
Except... Not? Like when they do the deed he's like 'my mating nodes open and begin to secrete fluid that will bring her intense pleasure'...

Waiiiiit... What?

This is never discussed again.

Neither is birth control. the assumption is made by all the characters that they have the same anatomy for procreation without discussion. The clit is always new to aliens but they also always master it immediately and the vagina seemed par for the course for him. He didn't seem confused by anything and she doesn't even mention his cock so it was normal/human?

Past sexual partners? He wonders if she's a virgin but never asks (it sounds like she was, even though she was 27. She says she only ever kissed her mom and had no friends or family ever, and was literally scared of the fact there was porn offered on her movie choices...). He explains there's no babies because of no fated mates recently, but does that mean no sex for pleasure? Also never discussed.

So in the end this woman with a one paragraph backstory mates an alien with a one paragraph backstory that is almost entirely that his brother is missing, they have surprisingly boring sex considering they aren't the same species, and we are happily ever after.

3.5 -⭐⭐⭐💫

"I have never been one to back down from a challenge, keeshla...I will find a way to convince you that we are fated to be together."

Fated to the Alien Warrior is the first novel in an adult sci-fi romance series, Warriors of Tavikh. Each book follows a standalone couple but will be set in the same universe. Set on the alien planet of Tavikh, this debut novel follows London and Zander. London is a young woman and a criminal. On Earth she was given a choice, either prison or moving to a human settlement on an alien planet to live out her days...guess which one she takes. What she wasn't expecting was that things are not as lovely and peaceful ad Earth likes to suggest...including the fact there are hostiles species on the planet out to destroy humans. Through these attacks on the settlement London meets Zander. Zander is leader of his people on the planet of Tavikh and he has seen the Krijese attempting to end the humans and has stepped in. During a rescue effort he meets London and when they touch he discovers she is his goddess chosen mate...except London isn't interested and he's determined to convince her.

This book is a cute cosy romance that surprised me in a lot of ways.

London is refreshing in her adaptability and need to find her place. I really liked how willing she to get involved and be a part of something. Zander is this typical alien leader but what helped set him aside was that he wasn't to earn London's attention. He recognized how much he was asking and hat sense of awareness made the courtship sweet.

This book is about 1 spicy pepper out of 5 spicy pepper. It is a slow burn even with the shorter page count. There is on page spice towards the 80% mark with a sweet courtship building between them leading up.

The story and world of this book was fairly simple but effective. We get a good sense of the world with the conflicts between species and there is this nice reveal towards the end that opened the world and possibilities for the series. I want to hear more about the communities and setting more as I felt that wasn't as a detailed. The story itself was a slow journey and had this unexpected heartfelt women supporting women plot that I loved so much. We get a little bit of action to help shake things up. This book is multi-pov and I felt getting that perspective really opened the world. I did find the comments about London wanting to be a teacher because it sounds easy a bit off putting (as a teacher) but it doesn't change anything. The ending is sweet and brings things together while also tempting us with who is the next book about.

Overall a sweet sci-fi that was quick to consume and a comfort read. It's also on kindle unlimited!

Thank you Erin for the review copy!

"Am I truly that terrifying?" I ask softly as I get close to her. "I mean you no harm, tiny human." Her nose wrinkles. "I'm not tiny." I smother my laugh at her indignant tone.
Instead, I merely shrug. "You are to me.”
first read of 2024 and i loved it !! if you are someone who got into ice planet barbarians and are looking for something similar i definitely recommend this !! our heroine london gets caught for theft and either has to decide to go to jail for 50 years or go to an unknown planet called tavikh. She choose tavikh without any information of what the planet is like she then meets a group of girls and they instantly become friends. upon arrival at tavikh they soon learn that it’s a small settlement where everyone try’s to protect themselves basically always being attacke by aliens called krijese and their only protection is another group of aliens called tavikhi. after being attacked one day london is saved by zander who is the shefir which then triggers his markings thus sealing their fate as mates !! i love the way that Hale has written london groups of friends each of them have such a lovable personality’s that make you excited to see what their story is gonna be like. they had me actually laughing with how relatable they were when they kept encouraging london to go after zander cuz he’s a hot alien best hype squad fr lololol. i also liked how Hale didn’t make miscommunication problems such a big issue often times in books like these they have miss communication over the dumbest things because of language barriers and it just drags for a majority of the book. i love how zander was a gentleman and wasn’t all alpha ahole on london like i love alpha characters but they do get repetitive especially in alien romances lololol so it was refreshing to see him constantly worrying that something he did might upset her. he’s also purple !! helloooo purple girlies new man !! and he has a tail !! <3 i’m also a children hater and surprisingly i loved the kit in this story i thought he was really cute and funny how his only concern is not being able to climb trees. overall i already love so many characters and the world in this book and i can’t wait to see what happens next. if you like fated mates, tattooed hero’s, alien settings, science fiction romance then you should definitely add this to your tbr.

If you’ve ever thought, “What I really need is an alien warlord to throw me over his shoulder mid-battle and call me his mate,” then congratulations—Fated to the Alien Warrior is your galactic catnip.

London is having a week. After getting arrested for petty theft on Earth, her choices are: rot in an overcrowded prison for half a century or hop on a spaceship to become an off-world homesteader. Naturally, she chooses the sci-fi reboot of Little House on the Prairie. Only no one warned her that Tavikh isn’t just empty farmland—it’s sandwiched between two warring alien species. And she’s barely unpacked her emotional baggage before one group attacks and another saves her via classic fireman carry.

That ""rescuer""? Zander. Leader of the Tavikhi. Big. Purple. Dangerous. He’s got claws, a tail, glowing mating marks, and absolutely no chill when he realizes London is his fated mate. He's also got feline eyes, ridged features, and a deep-seated frustration with the squishy, reckless humans who keep wandering into danger without a clue. (Sir, that’s our entire brand.)

Zander isn’t subtle—he saves her, stares at her like she’s made of stardust and sin, and then proceeds to insert himself into her daily life like a 7-foot protective shadow with warlord energy. Meanwhile, London is trying to wrap her head around colonist duty, alien threats, and a man who bleeds green and smells like a walking pheromone bomb.

What makes this book hit? The combo of classic sci-fi setup with primal romance payoffs. There’s tension, worldbuilding, and high-stakes survival mixed with mutual confusion and reluctant swooning. The language stays accessible, the spice creeps in slowly, and the vibes are: “helpful warlord wants you to accept his tail—and also his heart.”

Tropes:
🚀 Alien Warrior x Human Woman
🚀 Fated Mates / Glowing Markings
🚀 Grumpy x Confused
🚀 Language barrier-lite (but still adorable)
🚀 Enemies nearby, reluctant allies within
🚀 Tail, claws, possessive pheromones, and one VERY purple man

London, the female lead, felt a bit bland compared to the other women. Each of them had something going for them— All we really learn about London (besides the reason she’s there) is that she’s I was hoping for more from that decision, like seeing her interact with the Tavikh, learn about their ways, and explore how they teach their children so she could find a meaningful place for herself beyond just being Zander’s fated mate.

Unfortunately, with books like this, there isn’t much time to fully develop the world or build up the relationship between the leads. You’re given the basics, and the series usually expands on those details as it goes on. I’ve only just started this series, so I don’t know if it will do that, but I might skip ahead to the one about the Krijese, the enemy natives (though they look completely different, so I’m not sure if they truly are natives) since that storyline sounded more interesting. This story felt a bit lacking overall. The characters move on quickly, which makes the seriousness shown by Zander and his people feel disconnected from the rest of the story.

It’s a very quick read: simple, with fated mates, low stakes, and no angst. I gave it bonus points for London’s interaction with the Most of the time, female leads in these types of stories exist in their own little bubble, so it was nice to see London at least interacting with some of the natives rather than just her mate and her friends.

After London gets caught stealing, she's given a choice to go to a human settlement on an alien planet or go to prison. Who wouldn't take the chance to move to an alien planet? But the humans who are sent there aren't told that aliens are already living there or that there's another warring alien race of beasts that are killing and taking some of the humans for whatever reason. So when London's ship arrives, she and her new friends from the ship are attacked right away but thankfully Zander and his people are there to lend a helping hand with the beasts and save most of the new people.

Planet Tavikhi is not the peaceful planet that London thought it would be. She doesn't even get a small house to live in, she is given a tent to set up. Life is nothing like what she thought it would be and there's no going back to Earth.

After Zander who is the leader of the village of aliens who saved the humans, meets London he knows she is his mate because his mate markings light up. He wasn't expecting his mate to be a human but he's not opposed to the idea either. Now if he could only make her believe that she's his mate so he can keep her safe and make her happy.

After the beasts attack the human settlement once again, Zander knows he has to help them and offers to teach them how to fight to keep themselves safe. He also offers sanctuary to anyone who wants to come back to his village to live.

I loved Zander, he was so sweet and so patient with London as she came to grips with her new reality and love interest. Not only is Zander muscled, tall and purple, he has a tail! If you've read any alien romance where the male has a tail, you already know why that's fun. *smirk* I'm looking forward to reading more of this series now.

Fated to the Alien Warrior

Tall purple warrior aliens with long blond hair. The book covers are really well done. What's not to love?

As with the beginning of many series, the MMC is the chief of the tribe. I like the way the personalities are getting set up here. The Shefir (chief) is compared to his twin brother. The Shefir is thoughtful and the brother is impulsive. As the brother says,

“But you know as well as I that I’m far too impulsive and quick to action to be a good Shefir. Our people need someone who is patient and thinks things through from all the angles before making a decision. You weigh the consequences of all your actions first. That is something I do not have a talent for.”

And as a seasoned alien abduction (adjacent) romance reader, I know the brother will probably get a book soon. So who will the impulsive twin end up with? And how is the current MFC the right match for the more thoughtful brother?

One of the friends of the MFC is bold and assertive but the MFC thinks to herself,

“I’ve always been a follower anyway. Keep quiet. Do what you’re told.”

But as all the women characters realize,

“We’re not the same people we were back home. The minute we boarded that spaceship, our new lives started. Nothing from our past matters. We’re sitting here, on another planet in another galaxy, with a clean slate.”

The MFC is pretty thoughtful and she has some very difficult life experience to give her a broader understanding of the people she is going to help lead.

Good world building, the MMC is confident and determined and the MFC is sensitive and brave.

London & Zander

I was hoping this would be would be another series I would eagerly sink my teeth into, but alas it was fine. I am going to continue on and in fact backwards. Because there is a 0.5 book of Zander's younger brother. The spice was ok, the romance was fine. I am more interested in seeing what happens with the other humans and how the world evolves.

"London

Even seduce her."

London, the human female lead, had a “choice” of 50 years imprisonment or transport to a new planet to make a new life after being caught stealing because she was so poor she had no other options. As she lands on this planet, she shocked to find aliens they weren’t told about attacking, whilst other aliens they weren’t told about defend the human settlement.

Zander, the male alien lead, is the tribe leader of his people who are slowly dying out because fewer females compared to males are born and fewer of them have been finding their fated mate. Defending the new settlers who seem ridiculously underprepared for their environment, he’s shocked to find his mate marks burning for a new arrival. Now he just needs to convince her that he’s trustworthy and that she wants him for a mate. He also needs to convince her people to accept at least some of the help his people are offering…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, sci-fi romance which appears to be the author’s debut. I enjoyed the world building and set up. I enjoyed London’s acceptance of her reality and her willingness to roll with the punches. I enjoyed Zander’s joy at finding his fated mate, and the compassion he had for all the humans. I enjoyed the friends that London made and am looking forward to their stories.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

“Fated to the Alien Warrior” is an alien romance by Erin Hale, and is the first book in her newest series, Warriors of Tavikh.

This was Zander and London’s story, and I thought it was really cute! I loved that it had minimal drama and that there was no third act breakup.

Zander is the “sherif” (leader) of the Tavikhi, and like many others in his community, he has spent years hoping that their beloved goddess, Deeka, would bless him with his “keeshla” - his fated mate.

Meanwhile, London who is human, is a recent arrival to this planet. She had no idea that living in the human settlement on Tavikh involved aliens, but now it’s too late to change her mind.

I thought that the way Zander realized London was his keeshla was really original - the mate marks on his chest darkened. I also loved that from that moment on, Zander was entirely devoted to London.

As for London, she had some reservations, but honestly, I can’t really blame her. She had a lot of things thrown at her all at once, and the idea of fated mates was an entirely new concept to her.

Zander and London’s relationship was adorably sweet. He worked hard to prove to her that he was serious, and in the end, London was able to realize that despite the horrible life she’d led until arriving on Tavikh, things were now looking up for her.

Erin Hale is a new to me author, but I would definitely read something by her again. If you love alien romance, I think you will love this book!

The thing is I am reading a lot of alien romance lately and this story wasn't as good as most of my other recent reads. It felt sort of unremarkable. I enjoyed the characters, even though they seemed a bit superficial. The concept of the story had a lot of potential but I felt like it would really benefit from being longer. Everything felt kinda rushed and flat. Also humans die from the Krijese (big scary aliens) constantly but no one seems to really care. The first thing that happened when the FMC and her friends arrive at the planet is them being attacked and lots of humans getting killed. However almost immediatly afterwards they seem all fine. There is no grieving, no funerals, no panic attacks, no trauma, nothing. It felt weird. Even when some of the Tavikhi die it feels like it's not a big deal. The MMC, who is the tribe's leader , doesn't even asks for their names. Like you're the chief shouldn't you be at least a little bit interested in your own people. Even with a couple of attacks of the Krijese it never feels like there is any danger or real conflict. The romance itself goes from 0 to 100 really fast. I would have liked if there was a little bit more of a progression shown. The spicy scenes couldn't save the book either unfortunately. They were unremarkable just like the rest.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Zander wasn't pushy when he found his mate. He wasn't all horned up either that he immediately had to make her his, which was nice. There was a nice bit of back story for London without it becoming too repetitive, and the overall story was pretty decent, though I felt like I wanted more? Like maybe London would have been kidnapped sorta thing but it was still good regardless.

All of my issues with the story are not actually because of how it's written, more like the author wrote the enemy well enough for me to hate them and the stupid other humans who are being so utterly useless and stubborn that it's not funny.

The story left me wanting more and I honestly cannot wait to read the next one since Zydon seems a little reluctant in wanting a mate, and I am eager to know if they actually find their missing brother eventually or if they at least get answers.

I will say though, London is a bit weak for a character but it wasn't enough to be overbearing or make me want to stop reading it. The spice could have been better but it's not a big deal to me. I'm happy it didn't dominate the book and that it wasn't all there was to their relationship.

Good start to the series

I enjoyed London and Zander’s alien-human, fated mates romance with a side of danger. This story had the good mix of love, real life issues, and spice. Zander is Shefir of his tribe on the planet Tavikh. He has not yet found his fated mate and is very concerned about the human settlement that is continually being attacked by his sworn enemy, the Krijese. London is a human who’s had a hard life and chose to travel to Tavikh instead of going to jail for stealing. She met and befriended three women on the way to the planet. As soon as the humans arrive on Tavikh they are attacked by the Krijese and Zander rescues London. He realizes immediately she is his fated mate but convincing London is a bit harder. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, characters with dimension and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, alien physiology and cultures, loyal friends, painful pasts, fated mates, coincidences, danger, and laughs. I will be continuing this series. 3.5 stars
