Abby Clover travels back in time with Sir Chadwick to stop Wolfbane and his mother Lucia Chesseman from committing unspeakable evil and rescue Hilda Bluebell. With the help of Mandini, Spike, Starlight, Paddy the Pooka, Jack Elvin and the elves; Abby and Sir Chadwick foil Wolfbane's scheme and return Torgate to its seaside town splendor.
So basically this was a kids' read. I found an old copy lying around and thought the title was interesting. I haven't read the prequel so I was a bit confused at first. The plot was a mix of magic and adventure but it wasn't as action packed and intriguing as I would've liked. In some parts I felt like there was a bit of a lull and I couldn't finish the tale quickly. But overall I enjoyed the story. Lucia Cheeseman was a funny character but Wolfbane wasn't really that dastardly of a villain. I loved Abby's character (of course)because she had the makings of a powerful witch. The ending was good but a bit too abrupt. I mean, after all they went through the bad guys were defeated just like that? Oh, well. It was still pretty good overall.

Certainly a childhood favourite that I keep on returning to at least once year. I would recommend this book to anyone - yes it is for children but that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable for adults. Also, I remember that it is pretty fantastic for reading aloud, perfect for story-telling.

A wildly inventive sequel to "The witch trade."
We meet old characters and new as Sir Chadwick and Hilda Bluebell are about to get married but the evil Wolfbane and his equally devious mother are set to spoil things by going back in time and causing chaos!
It's another round of good witches vs bad witches with some evil sidekicks in the shape of an octopus and a giant spider named Baal.
Exciting and fast paced it's another brilliant instalment to the series.

I read the first book many years ago, which I throughly enjoyed albeit unbeknownst to me that it was the first in a trilogy. Having reread 'The Witch Trade' recently moving on toward this. The story picked up where it left off and moved into another devious direction to be foiled by the motley crew of do-gooders.

¡Vaya! No me acordaba de la cantidad de info dumps que tiene este libro y de lo súper mega hábil que es la protagonista de 10 años en la magia contra brujos muy experimentados algo que mi yo de 10-13 al parecer no notó.😅
Aun así no puedo darle menos 8 de 10 porque es un libro que me gustaba mucho en su momento, y creo que a gente de esa edad puede llegar a gustarle.

A continuation of a series. You really had to read the firdt one to read this. A good book for a young reader who might not be ready for Harry Potter. A good Hallowwen book.

Große Festlichkeiten stehen in Speller an. Nachdem alle Kinder aus den Fängen der Nachthexen befreit werden konnten, steht nun die langerwartete Hochzeit zwischen dem Hexenmeister Sir Chadwick und Hilda an. Doch dazu soll es vorerst nicht kommen, da ausgerechnet Wolfsbane mithilfe einem Geist und seinen Nachthexen Hilda entführt und mit ihr in die Vergangenheit, ins Jahr 1894, reist. Durch Hilda will Wolfsbane die Vergangenheit ändern und somit die Lichthexen ausschalten, doch er hat nicht mit Abby und Sir Chadwick gerechnet, die ebenfalls in die Vergangenheit reisen. Wolfsbane hat einen für ihn perfekten Zeitpunkt ausgewählt, denn nur zwei Tage später geschieht ein großes Unglück, dass die Stadt für immer verändern wird. Können Abby und Sir Chadwick Hilda befreien und das Unglück verhindern? Kann man die Vergangenheit eventuell doch ändern?
Über ein Jahr lang musste man auf eine Fortsetzung warten, jetzt ist sie endlich da. Allgemein finde ich es wahnsinnig schade, dass dieser Reihe so wenig Beachtung geschenkt wird.
Michael Molloy konnte mich auch mit dem zweiten Band überzeugen, in dem der Krieg zwischen den Licht- und Nachthexen im Vordergrund steht.
Michael Molloy hat sich mit "Die Rache des Hexenmeisters" selbst übertroffen. Seine detaillierten Beschreibungen waren wunderbar und ich konnte mich sehr schnell auf die Geschichte einlassen. Sehr gut gefällt mir, das die Kleinstadt Speller diesmal noch mehr in den Vordergrund rückt. Ich fand Speller bereits im ersten Band wahnsinnig interessant und bin froh, das ich nun mehr über die Stadt und deren Einwohner erfahren durfte.
Aber auch die Reise in die Vergangenheit konnte mich sehr gut von sich überzeugen. Das Leben von heute, als auch im Jahre 1894, wird gut dargestellt und man lernt sehr viel über die Sitten der damaligen Zeit kennen.
Sehr gut haben mir auch die Entwicklungen der Charaktere gefallen. Vor allem Spike und Abby sind mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Obwohl sich Spike am Ende des ersten Bandes wieder an seinen Namen und seine Herkunft erinnerte, bleibt er weiterhin der liebe, bodenständige Spike. Auch Abby hat hier einen gewaltigen Sprung gemacht. Sie arbeitet hart an sich und ihren Kräften und ihr Mut ist vorbildlich.
Die Darstellung der Nachthexen hat mir ebenfalls gefallen. Im ersten Band wurden sie stets nur als die Bösen dargestellt, ohne näher darauf einzugehen. Jetzt lernt man Wolfbane und seine Absichten genauer kennen und ich konnte den Krieg zwischen den Licht- und Nachthexen besser nachvollziehen.
Die Covergestaltung ist wieder sehr detailiert und passt sich dem ersten Band an. Vor allem die Zahlenräder sind ein tolles Symbol für die Geschichte und auch das Spinnennetz und die Spinne kommen gut zur Geltung. Mit diesem Cover wurde alles richtig gemacht.
"Die Rache des Hexenmeisters" ist eine wunderbare Mischung aus Fantasy und Abenteuerroman, bei dem besonders Fans von Hexenbücher vollkommen auf ihre Kosten kommen. Hoffentlich wird auch der dritte Band ins Deutsche übersetzt.

Like the first one, "The Time Witches" is great fun. Abby and Spike are back with a new adventure, this time around the city instead of at the North Pole, but facing the Night Witches yet again. My only complaint is that it seems to have lost a bit of the magic that was in the first book, as well as seeming slower-paced, but this is nonetheless a very amusing read. Wolfbane's mother is an absolute riot.

Hay un uso tan abusivo de la fantasía y de la magia que el libro pasa a ser un sinsentido de sucesos descabellados. Es todo una hazaña que Molloy haya podido unir toda esa locura en una trama. Pero todo es demasiado, cuando se excede en verosimilitud, nada causa sorpresa y luego de unos capítulos comienza a aburrir hasta que por suerte llega el final (si no tal vez el libro podría ser peor)

December 14, 2017 The Time Witches is a great book with lots of characters. The book was mostly about Abby Clover and her friends journey against Wolfbane. Wolfbane is an evil leader of the night witches and he plans to get revenge on Abby because she defeated him once but he's back and ready to win. When the fight was done Abby didn't know if she was still in the past because the witches can control the time and she was trying to save her future.
