***HEADS UP REVIEWERS: I don't respond to review requests sent through Goodreads because I don't get on here frequently enough. However, it's super easy to fill out the review request form. BIO: I like coffee. A lot. Writing gives me time to go get a cup without my kids. I like books as much as I like coffee, but it is easier to read with children hanging on you than drink coffee due to the threat of third degree burns. That's why coffee gets top billing in my intro: its unattainability.

I hold a Masters in English with a specialization in 18th century women's studies. While this is a highly marketable area of expertise, I stay home with my kids, which means my 3 year-old son uses correct grammar and doesn't burn down the house.

I have a ridiculously supportive husband who dreams of being included on a book jacket: "The author lives in Kansas with her husband, two children, and a Tuesday cat."

This is a story about a girl named Adelice who's born with a gift to weave without a loom. Not knowing at first what her skills meant, she 'mistakenly' passed the test that her parents had been training her to fail since she was young. Series of tragedy then confronts her because of people hungry for power and are willing to dispose anything or anyone just to have her docile.

Comment:

I like the personality of the main character, one who isn't the type to be bullied. I'm sick of reading books whose main lead is basically vibrating aura that "I'm weak, I need a prince charming!".
The scenes are well-described, but it also allows you to imagine that there's more to it.

And and and

-WOohw. I was blown away by the events near the ending.
Am definitely gonna read the next book!-

Anyway, the author's brilliant. I like you. I'm a fan now.

Reading the first five chapters is almost not a fair thing to do to yourself...
The story is so gripping and you just begin to immerse yourself into Adelice's life as an Eligible, and then it ends. Now you have to wait...
Trust me waiting to read the rest of a book like this is hard.
Gennifer Albin is an amazing writer and Crewel is a woven masterpiece!
Believe me YOU WANT TO READ THIS BOOK.
Dystopian has become such a loved genre for YA. Crewel is a beautiful example of an excellent dystopian world. Gennifer has really out done herself with the creation of the societal structure in this novel! I was hooked right away and you will be too!
I can't wait to get my copy on Oct. 16th!

I really enjoyed the book. It sort of reminds me of The Elite series by Kierra Kass by which I mean that they select certain young women for a contest, the main character is reluctant and there are two love interests. I think that she did a great job writing this story and I could feel the emotions and look at the memories very clearly. I could also see in my head certain parts(some were repetitive though).

Reading the first chapters of Crewel feels like peeking inside a mystery box. You can see that there's something amazing inside but you cannot fully know what it is.

This few chapters will show you how amazing this whole novel is. If your having second thoughts about buying Crewel, read this and your doubts will be gone.
