The story itself was well written with a nice forward flow and pace. The intricate and multifaceted storyline breaks the mould for the genre while keeping you entertained and guessing. You get some very intense moments combined with some comical incidents that make it all seem quite real.

O’Clare has created some very in-depth characters for this novel. I appreciate the fact that although the story is a romantic suspense there are more than two individuals who carry it forward. The varied personalities in the cast complement each other, rather than working at odds or being very similar to one another. My only question was, seriously, what are the chances of both male leads becoming irrevocably distracted by women before they even really get started on their respective jobs, especially when they’re alpha male types who are supposed to be competing.

As a whole, I quite enjoyed this novel and this is definitely an author that I will be reading more of in the future.

Won this on goodreads. Pretty good story. Romance, action. I felt some of the sexual terminology was a bit unnecessarily crude at times.

Ben Mercy is the newest bounty hunter to join the King Fugitive Apprehension aka KFA. His first official mission is to track down and stop the number one fugitive. Ben is joined by another bounty hunter named Wolf.

Zoey Cortez’s father is a mean man. When Zoey first meets Ben, she is literally swept off her feet. The more time that Zoey spends with Ben the harder she is falling for him.

Hot Pursuit is the last book in the Bounty Hunter series. I have enjoyed reading this series. While I would not want to be pursued by a bounty hunter, I would not might being the love interest for one. Shush, just don’t tell my husband.

To be honest, while this book was not my favorite, it was alright. For me I liked both Ben and Wolf for different reasons. The perfect guy would have been someone that had Ben’s personality but with Wolf’s insatiable, sexual desire.

The story seemed a little lop-sided. In regards to there was more romance then I thought suspense. It seemed to take forever for Wolf and Ben to track down their intended target. The ending leads that maybe there might be another book in the long future. However, I am excited to see what Lorie comes up with next.

Two romances in one, it threw me at first but once I got the rythym of the story it got more comfortablle. It was nice seeing Micah and Maggie again. Not the typical romance story.

Hot Pursuit is the story of two bounty hunters, Ben Mercy and Wolf Marley, who venture to Zounds, California from Los Angeles in search for the infamous Mulligen Stew Assassin. With a million dollar bounty on the assassin's head, he's a pretty hot target. However, each bounty hunter has their own agenda. While Wolf is actively seeking out where the assassin is lurking, Ben is out to warn the assassin that a Wolf is on his trail. Working together, however at odds with one another, the two stumble upon a couple of local women, Angelina (aka Angel) and Zoey Cortez, that happen to provide a nice distraction until they themselves get pulled into the hunt.

I had a difficult time getting into this novel (which is part of the reason it took me awhile to finish). I am not too sure why it didn't really capture my interest but I maintained a pretty decent level of mild interest, enough to finish the book.

The book has an interesting action plot revolving around the two bounty hunters and the assassin, but the sex scenes littered throughout seemed to weigh it down. O' Clare attempted to combine an action adventure with a romance and slightly missed the mark.

Staying on the topic of the sex scenes and why they DIDN'T work ... during various instances in the novel when the characters had serious, even dangerous, issues to content with the author often directed their attention randomly towards each other in a sexual manner. For example, when Zoey and Ben are trying to escape Emilio Cortez (Zoey's tyrant of a father whose financially manipulating Zounds) the pair take plenty of time to contemplate one another's body parts, or engaging in sexual acts. Completely unnecessary. If they are fighting for their survival, let them fight ... don't try to turn it into a love scene.

Also, I wasn't too thrilled with the character Zoey Cortez. While Ben boasts about how strong, and smart Zoey is (because he's obviously letting his penis do his thinking), she makes plenty of foolish decisions throughout the novel. My favorite has to be when she's being protected by the Mulligen Stew Assassin at his cabin and she opts to drive off because she's "tired of men controlling her". A girl who understands that her abusive father is after her willingly leaves her primary means of safety. It didn't surprise me one bit that she ended up getting caught, dragged back to her father's house and then beaten to a pulp (and possibly raped). I don't much care for stupid female characters.

Overall, I would recommend this novel for it's action plot alone, but that's it.

You never have to look very far to find your true friends

There are two bounty hunters with their own unique agenda after one man who depending on what glasses you are wearing is seen as either sinner or saint. Ben is trying to take care of his friend and keep danger away, while Wolf wants the bounty on this capture no matter how it goes down. The problem both men find in the sleepy little town the search drops them is beautiful women, a man terrorizing the town folk, and a very well hidden bounty

Ben finds himself quickly attached to Zoey a woman who is hiding from her father who it seems is the terror of every small business owner in town. Wolf lands right in front of Angel the woman of his dreams that just happens to be a victim to the town bully, which pulls both men into proactive stances. Ben and Wolf keep the women safe and even though they have no idea where it is going to land them keep the search on night and day until answers are provided. The shared objective is to find the man behind the terrorism and get this garbage packed up and out of town even though it just happens to be Zoey’s father. Violence has touched their lives on some many levels that now dealing with tenderness it seems more difficult to maneuver, why is that?

The search is dangerous, the town terrorists leaving more than subtle threats that neither man is going to take lightly without pushing back vigorously. Ben knows what it is like to be bullied and fight for the right to protect what belongs to you, the others guys may be bigger but they are not going to know what hit them when Ben is done with them.

No need to start a fire in the chimera to get any warmth tonight, Hot Pursuit is sizzling enough to keep you warm for days.

3-1/2 stars. I wanted to really like this book, but there were several things that kept me from enjoying it. First of all, it took about a quarter of the book until you even meet Zoey. I do think the thing with Wolf and Ben was necessary, but there should have at least been a chapter where you got to meet Zoey. I never connected with her at all. She was a victim the whole book, never discovering any sort of inner strength. Now, Angel and Wolf? THAT could have been a pretty good book had it just been them. I have no idea why there were these two love stories in the same book. I think it would have been more effectively executed by making the main story about Angel and Wolf and then having Ben and Zoey as the kind of side romance.

Another thing that bugged be was the over-describing of the characters. It got to the point where I was like I GET IT; Zoey has straight, shiny, long hair and she's very short. I don't need the description from everyone's POV.

One part that drove me NUTS and further supported my opinion that the story should have been about Angel and Wolf was the fact that Ben and Zoey don't have sex until like the second to last chapter, with only one sexual encounter before that. I was starting to wonder if they'd ever have sex, and I skipped ahead to see if they did, but upon quick glance, I didn't even see any indication of sex. But then, I got to the sex part, which was disappointingly short and despite using the words "cream, pussy, anal, and cock" in the book, I was surprised that there was no description of the actual penetrative sex between Ben & Zoey, besides saying that he pushed inside and started moving. Where was the build-up? The climax? Something!

It all just seemed a bit disjointed, with too many characters and not enough emotion.

In the sixth book of her Bounty Hunter series, Lorie O’Clare does not disappoint. In fact, she excels! The Mulligan Stew assassin is still on the loose. Oh, people know who he is but they don’t know where and that’s all to the good. Ben Mercy, Bounty Hunter trainee goes out to his bike one morning and find a wad of cash with a quick note to use it to get his license and clear his own name. He knows who sent the cash – Micah Mulligan. Yep, that guy!
Ben decides to try to find Micah and Maggie in northern California and decides to begin with the last blank postcard he received – a little town called Zounds. Pretty place – at least on the outside. Inside it is ruled by Emilio Cortez who owns the town, lock stock and property deeds. Cortez is a total mafia lord but his daughter, Zoey, is not. She’s the first person Ben meets in town and gives him a quick tour.
Sparks fly but Zoey is engaged to someone her father picked out and doesn’t know how to get away. She spends time with friends in the local bookstore run by Angelina Matisse a strong woman who knows she’d best pay her monthly “dues” or risk losing all she has worked for. Angel would do anything for Zoey.
Ben learns things in Zounds are far from beautiful; Zoey’s dad wants him dead and has men who can see to it. Angel worries about losing her store and home and, to top it all off another Bounty Hunter shows up named Wolf Marley who is determined to bring in the Mulligan Stew assassin and claim the one million dollar bounty. Then, Maggie drives by in a beat-up VW. What else can possibly go wrong?
You’ll see!

HOT PURSUIT really tested my patience. Overall, I have really lost my interest in this series, but when I saw it at the library I said ‘why not.’

Although the back mentions only Ben Mercy and Zoey Cortez, the book really has three main focuses.

Ben/Zoey

Micah/Maggie (from book 5)

bounty hunter Wolf Mercy/Angel Matisse.

With Micah still on the loose, Wolf is determined to claim the million dollar bounty. Ben follows Wolf, with the King’s blessing, to the sleepy town of Zounds where Micah is thought to be to warn his friend.

There both men are railroaded by Zoey and Angel. And although they try to avoid attachment, neither can withdrawal when the women need them when fighting the town crooked ruler who happens to be Zoey’s father.

Friendship is strong in book 6 as Ben wants to protect Micah and Maggie who are still happily married, yet he questions how far things will go when Wolf finds them. The women are all friends with their lives interlaced as well which tests their friendships due to the men’s agendas.

All in all, HOT PURSUIT was a slow start, but definitely a good read.

I have to be completely honest. The main reason I wanted to read this book was the cover. The plastic model of a hero, the most relaxed boat-ride hair I’ve ever seen on the heroine, and they both look so bored! Then I read the synopsis, and said to myself “Huh, that could be interesting.”

Well, just to let you know, the synopsis is actually not at all what happens in the book. Not really. And their lovely boat ride on the cover? I just flipped through the book again trying to find a boat ride. Lots of motorcycles, very few boats. And for a good portion of the book, the heroine is kinda beat up. Literally. Also, there is an entire other couple whose romance (read: sexy fun times) takes place at least half the time, and they aren’t mentioned on the back cover at all. Which is sad, because of the two couples, I liked the second couple more.

Gotta love those he-man Bounty Hunters. They live to serve, capture, and protect. And protect seems to be their middle name in this series by
Lorie O'Clare. In this book we get two really hot Bounty Hunters, not just one. Ben and Wolf team up to find the Mulligan Stew assassin but for opposite reasons. And of course find a couple of beautiful women to help them and cause a few turns in their journey.
A fun exciting read where the men want to help and protect the women and while the women can stand by themselves, they enjoy the benefits these hot men offer.

I won a copy of this book via a Goodreads first-reads contest.

I love this series, but this one fell a bit flat to me. I just couldn't really get into the plot and even though I liked most of the characters, I found myself not really caring about what was happening to them. I think the problem was that there were too many subplots. There was th story of Ben and Zoey; Wolf and Angel, Wolf and Ben trusting (or not trusting) each other as they "worked together," Zoey's evil father, Micah and Maggie's struggle to live happily ever after.... They just kept coming

Ben & Zoey. Ben is "manhunter" and Zoey is the daughter of a very powerful man. This is a very fast paced book and gabs you from the begining. A great read. I am mailing this one to my mom.
Note: I have no idea where this book came from. It just showed up at my door step. Whoever mailed this to me, thank you!

The writing style of Hot Pursuit didn't engage me, there were too many POV characters, and I felt like I had missed a significant portion of the story although I believe this can be read as a standalone. I won't continue with this series.
