Legend of Korra continues the epic action begun in Avatar: The Last Airbender! Now fantasy fans ages 12 and up can bend their way into the beginning of Korra's adventures with this novelization of Nickelodeon's hit series, The Legend of Korra.
Let me start this review off by saying I am a huge Avatar and Legend of Korra fan. When I saw there was a novelization, I was excited to read it.
...I was disappointed.
Revolution is just a novelization of the TV Series. That's it. And a rather kid-ified version. For some series that might work, but for a series as visual as Korra, the book didn't work. They would have had to put in a lot of description and details for Korra to successfully become a novel, but as this is a children's book, the description was dumbed down or felt abridged. It probably would have been wiser to go with a comic book.
Also, because I've already seen the TV series, I felt like I had no reason to read the novel. It's one thing when a book becomes a movie or TV show--things are bound to be changed or cut out, so it's worth reading the book for that--but when it's a movie or TV show being turned into a book... especially a kid's book... very rarely is anything added. So it just wasn't worth it. In a hundred pages, the only things added were thought bubbles for Korra, and those I'm pretty sure they had Korra mumble in the show itself, so not really original content.
My 8 yr old and I have read a lot of books together and this has been our favorite by a long shot. It is well written and kept his attention the entire time. He preferred reading this book to watching tv or movies. I thank the author for showing him how much fun a good chapter book can be to read.
While my favourite character made less of an appearance than in the episodes, this cool retelling of the first half of Book one reminded me of everything I love about “The Legend of Korra”. I look forward to reading the second of this two part Novelization.
This book is about a girl named Korra, who becomes the latest Avatar. An Avatar is a person who protects the nation from evil. Each avatar will be chosen from a different bending: air, water, fire, and earth. The previous avatar was an air bender, Aang. The next avatar will be a water bender, which is Korra. Korra has been training with Tenzin, the son of Aang. Korra has gotten to learn every bending- excluding the bending she already possessed- except air. She also feels like that she doesn't do much action. So, therefore, she goes to a place where benders get to battle each other. There is a team of 3 in each team. Korra joined a team with two brothers named Mako and Bolin. Mako is a fire bender and Bolin is an earth bender. Days after playing with the brothers, a masked man interrupts a game saying that people should join him in changing the world of bending. I would rate this book a 4/5 because there wasn't much action. There was more talking. I would recommend this book to those who have liked the books of the previous avatar series: Avatar, the Last Airbender. Hopefully, the second book will have much more action.
This book was a action, adventure and friendship.I thought this book is good for people who like bending or seeing people hitting other people. This book is about a girl who is the avatar. She knows how to bend fire, earth and water. But the problem is she only knows how to bend three elements but she needs to all four.
This book is about this girl named Korra she was the next avatar that means she can bend air, water, fire, earth. She is on a journey to stop the equalize people who don't have bending powers are putting a liquid to make the people lose their bending forever. She is on a journey to stop the equality and restore order to the world.
I like it a lot so far. Korra is trying to complete her training to be able to master the element of air. She is facing lots of challenges but she is not giving up. She keeps failing, but keeps trying. She has a pet that she can ride on :)
