With chunky sliders to push and pull, this robust little board book is perfect for active toddlers. Rich in visual detail and with touches of humor, it is sure to become a classic in the family library.
Today, Bizzy Bear is packing his ship, hoisting the Jolly Roger and setting sail on an exciting pirate adventure! Little readers will love helping Bizzy steer his ship, dig for treasure, and open the treasure chest.
Benji Davies is the illustrator of the Bizzy Bear books, Bizzy Bear: Let’s Go and Play and Bizzy Bear: Fun on the Farm. As a child, Benji knew that when he grew up he either wanted to make films or draw pictures in books. He is still working out which he likes best, and currently divides his time between illustrating children’s books and directing animation.
He has worked on a huge range of subjects and platforms, with clients as diverse as such Waterstone’s, Sainsbury’s and Oxfam, and in countries as different as India and Australia. He’s illustrated for several major publishers and is pleased to be working on Nosy Crow’s start-up list.
This is a very sturdy board book with special moving parts. I DO NOT like that Bizzy is spelled Bizzy. I think this would have been a good opportunity to spell it "Busy".
My kids love the Bizzy Bear board books, and this one was just as much of a hit as the others! Simple verse and movable images make these books super engaging to my toddler and preschooler.
A new Bizzy Bear and this time he is a pirate! ARRRR!
After having the greatest of time with Bizzy Bear: Camping Trip I just had to see if the library had more! They had one with space (which was fun but just not as interactive as the camping trip one) and in January I finally found another one featuring Bizzy Bear as pirate! Well, this girl loves pirate stories so sign me up!
In this delightful book we meet Bizzy Bear again (and his friends). This time he is a pirate, arrrr! And he and his crew are on their way to find treasure, as pirates do! We follow them as they board their ship and then go along with them on their journey! It was a lot of fun and at times I wished I could just step in the book and go on the treasure hunt with this crew. I was excited to see the treasure and could I perhaps take some of those coins with me in real life? Please? I need more books cough I mean I need a new bathroom. I loved the interactive parts on every other page, from steering a wheel to digging for treasure, it made it so much fun to read the story.
I had a laugh at some of the slides, like the one with the wheel and how it looked like we were breaking the poor bear’s arms. Or how that shovel did things no shovel does.
The art was really fun, but again, expected from Benji Davies whose art is one of my favourites!
All in all, I really need more Bizzy Bear books. I may be an adult, but I love those sliders and interactive elements. And not just me, haha, my hubby always takes the book from me to go through the interactive elements himself as well. I would highly recommend this one to all, adult or child, this is such a sweet series!
In a pirate adventure for the very youngest, Bizzy Bear leads his crew on a successful treasure hunt. While the plot is clear and the action age appropriatly simple, the illustrations are cheeful and child appealing, This book is relatively sturdy as are the manipulatives and will stand up to toddlers.
I absolutely love how durable these books are. Nice and sturdy with bright and interesting illustrations. The culmination of finding treasure on this last page was a delight. Perfect for introducing reading to little ones.
