Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.

Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

Really like the first story/book between Nadine and Hayden but disliked the second dealing with Ben and Carlie.

My Rich Boy - Nadine and Hayden fell in love with each other as teenagers in spite of living being very unequally matched. Due to some misunderstandings, life takes them away from each other. After the death of his very wealthy father, Hayden comes back to town to find Nadine cleaning his childhood vacation lake house. The spark they once has has been rekindled. The things that originally put a wedge into their budding relationship of their adolescence, have to be discussed, understood, and resolved. Great storyline, very predictable but not a complaint because I live a good love story.

My Soldier Boy - Now for the second story. This is a sequel to the first part of this book/audio. I really thought the odd item in this story was going to be the love triangle between two brother's and Carlie but I am more disturbed by Ben's lack of maturity regarding women. From the very beginning when listening to the story between his sister Nadine and Hayden, Ben comes across as a major jerk. I found him very annoying. But then again most brothers are when they see their kid sister with any guy. I thought my opinion of Ben would change now that he was the main male protagonist in this romance, but I dislike him even more. What don't I like? How he jumps to conclusions without trying to allow anyone's else's viewpoint to come into play. He merely flies off the handle and makes demands. Everyone else has to bow to his will. Their were elements of CNC/rape-ish type intimacy. He didn't really like Carlie at times but wanted to have sex so he kept on stating he could control himself, stating just giving themselves a chance to mend bridges, yet he still wanted to blame her for all of his families woes. I also didn't like how he used his key to get into her apartment because he wanted answers but continued to think poorly of her because of her work meeting which turned into a date. Carlie is a strong, independent women and even though she does stay with Ben, she has her work cut out for her because Ben is a pig.

Although I disliked Ben, this audiobook is getting five stars. The author did a wonderful job creating her characters and causing her audience to think while reading her creation. She really made me contemplated how women are often coherence and manipulated by men into action through "sweet talk". I saw it very easily because Ben is the typical chauvinist but admire how often Carlie has to stand firm and does not allow herself to be run over by such a strong character. I would love to read more by this author. Hopefully, another story with Ben having many daughters that are starting to date and he sees how "unmanly" and disrespectful his former views had been.

I can't pinpoint what exactly but there seems to be a lot of character flaws among the people in these two books. The formula is the same, the couple go a long way back, they don't trust each other, they kept secrets from each other, they accuse each other of something else and yet when they are together, they can't keep their hands off each other.
