Just finished reading this wonderful Holiday novella written by 3 ladies 2 of which I'm avid fans. Overtime Love by Beverly Jenkins is the story of Tasha Bloom and Drew Davis. Great story, the two are thrown together by the will of Tasha's recently deceased uber rich grandfather. Little do they know grandpop knew what he was doing. This was a very good feel good story.

Ex-mas Reunion by Kayla Perrin the story of Kendra Harris and Damien Moore two young lovers who grow apart separated by distance as they attend college one in DC the other in NYC. Fate forces them together again as they are forced to share a car during a snowstorm if Kendra wants to attend her Aunt and Uncles anniversary in Louisville and come o grips with what drove them apart 10 years ago.

Last but not least is Maureen Smith who again shares with me another one of her fine, fantastic, friends from the Wolf series. This is the story of Ava Cameron and Colby Austin who indulges in an unbelievable one nightstand. They only know one another's first name until they find out they're opposing counsel in a lawsuit. Talk about conflict of interest. Hahaha.

I enjoyed all three stories and if you sure in need of a quick hot read to lift you holiday spirits this should do he trick

I read this book for Maureen Smith's story about Colby and Ava which was romantic and oh so SIZZLING...but I did go back and read the other two...I'm DEFINITELY a fan of Beverly Jenkins'...hers was funny, romantic and sweet...I've never read anything by Kayla Perrin and I sadly it was my least favorite of the books...just wasn't impressed w/the storyline and found it a bit dull.

I don't usually read romance, so what I say ought to be taken with a large grain of salt. I found it sexist, predictable, and lacking! Even the sex was lame.

My Thoughts on Overtime Love

Miss Jenkins brings us another enchanting tale, and just in time for Christmas. After Tasha Bloom’s grandfather dies and leaves her his semipro football team, she is reunited with her long time crush, and General manager of the team Drew Davis. After being promised the team, Drew is livid but is willing to work with Tasha to bring the team up to par. In the midst, their attraction grows and they are unable to deny themselves.

Loved this story. It was fun and romantic and the characters were charming. Tasha and Drew are great together and their personalities just mesh well. I’m also very interested in Tasha’s best friend Monty and am hoping Miss Jenkins will be writing his story in the future.

The only issue I had with this story was when Tasha proposed to Drew. Though I can get with the modern times, in this way I remain a traditional girl. You know, he who finds a wife and all of that. There was a little redeeming in regards to this because Drew had already planned to pop the question to her. This story is more about the journey and less about the destination, though I loved where they ended up.

Overall, loved it. Beverly Jenkins brought it just as good as she always does.
My Thoughts on Ex-mas Reunion

This story was kind of blah for me. After drifting apart when they went off to separate colleges, Kendra and Damien run into each other in the airport. When the weather doesn’t permit them to fly home, Damien convinces Kendra to road trip it. Damien is eager for a second chance, but Kendra is still hurt by the way Damien stopped returning her calls and emails ten years ago. Yup, he pulled a fade to black move on her.

I didn’t like Kendra at all. If she has just put on her big girl panties and had a sincere discussion with Damien, they could have worked things out a lot sooner and a lot simpler. Her stubbornness was annoying and I felt sorry for poor Damien…and he was the one in the hot seat!

Overall, the story really dragged and I just didn’t care what happened to either of them. This story was a miss for me.
My Thoughts on A Holiday Affair

Another winner! When Ava and Colby have a one night stand, neither thinks they will see the other again. But when they are opposing council on a high profile case, things get real hot and real complicated, real quick. Battling her desire for Colby and her ethics, Ava is torn between loving Colby and being dedicated to her job.

The characters were dynamic and the romance was explosive! I enjoyed getting to know Ava and Colby. Both successful attorneys, Ava is head strong, intelligent, and goes after what she wants. Colby is also intelligent and quite a formidable when it comes to his job. But I loved that he was so laid back and humorous in his personal life. Definitely somebody a woman could easily fall for.

My only issue with this story was how many of the characters were dead ringers for some very attractive celebrities. Idris Elba (yes Lawd!), Boris Kodjoe (ummm hmm), and Megan Goode. Really? Personally I like to conjure a person from the actual description, not be told who to picture. If a celebrity comes to mind, so be it. Otherwise, let’s not reference them, or at least not so often.

Other than that, the story was engaging and the writing was superb. This was my first time reading Maureen Smith and I’ll definitely be picking up some of her other stuff. Overall, a very worthy Christmas anthology!

Overtime Love by Beverly Jenkins

I loved this novella. This was fun and I fell in love with Drew and Tasha. This is such a cute little couple and both of them knows exactly what works and they work hard to succeed. It was really nice to see a successful business woman fall in love, but still hold to her independence. She worked really hard to prove in the begin to prove how good she could make the time and it was great on the outcome.

Ex-mas Reunion by Kayla Perrin

Not my favorite novella, but it had a cute reunion. It was a little boring and things took forever to actually happen, but I liked Damien and his struggles to understand and accept Kendra. But Kendra was not my favorite character because it felt like she was pushing everyone away in her hole life.

A Holiday Affair by Maureen Smith

I liked this story, because it showed this both really great character working to find a way to actually be together. These are opposing sides, but they were really hot together and deserved to be happy, because their life story was so sad, especially Colby. It was nice to see him working on his problems from the past and trying to find closure for some of his darkest nightmares.

3 sassy novellas!
1) Overtime Love by Beverly Jenkins: 4 Stars 12/15/2021
The video tape of Tasha's grandfather's last will and testament is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. However, Drew Davis didn't think so when the will leaves the football team to Tasha and not him as promised.

2) Em-Mas Reunion by Kayla Perrin: 3 Stars 12/16/2021
Kendra hasn't seen Damian in 10 years. Who knew that a chance meeting in the airport would lead to the best Christmas ever?

3) A Holiday Affair: 4 stars 12/17/2021
Ava Cameron recently dumped by her boyfriend, meets a handsome, sexy stranger (Colby) and has a no-name, just sex, one night stand. Who knew a one night stand could turn into so much more?

Sexy Merry Christmas

This was a very great book, I enjoyed reading the stories each author told.
Overtime Love was an okay story to me it took some time getting used to Tasha and Drew love affair.

Re-use Reunion was an amazing story I enjoyed reading about Damien and Kendra reconnecting and fighting for their love even though it was very hard for the to do.
A Holiday Affair was an amazing story Colby and Ava had me on the edge of my seat since very they were opposing appointments. They relationship was a little frustrating due to the fact that they both were lawyers and had a conflict of interest. I'm glad everything worked out for all of the couple's in the end.

Ex-mas Reunion was a real Christmas romance story. I liked the chemistry between Kendra and Damien. The love scenes were sexy but not raunchy or glossed over. Great writing Kayla Perrin.
