He loves her blood, but does her love her?!

Reads R to L (Japanese Style).

There is a world of myth and magic that intersects ours, and only a special few can see it. Misao Harada is one such person, and she wants nothing to do with magical realms. She just wants to have a normal high school life and maybe get a boyfriend. But she is the bride of demon prophecy, and her blood grants incredible powers, her flesh immortality. Now the demon realm is fighting over the right to her hand...or her life!

Sho’s death should have meant a return to peace for Misao and Kyo, once they came to terms with their guilt. But instead Misao finds herself displaying strange new powers she can’t quite control. Is this just the next stage for her as the Senka Maiden, or is something more sinister going on…?

OMG that beach scene was so...beautiful 😭😭 When you get towards the end of a shoujo manga you start to feel so invested in the main pairing and what they’ve been through- well, that’s how I’m feeling 💙

Although Kyo can still be a demanding brute, these two do share a close bond that cannot be broken.

There are only a 3 volumes left 😭😭 How will the two get past this hurdle when the one separating them now is their unborn child?! 😭

*sorry for all the crying emojis- it’s really how I’m feeling 😅😂

There are some major things wrong with the story in this. The first couple chapters, Misou has no energy. The reason is explained, but somehow she ends up with a ton of energy the last 2-3 chapters - which doesn't make sense according to plot.

I was considering rating it 3 stars for that. But that ending earned another star from me.

After the "glow effect" of the previous volume, Misao is displaying some unusual new powers, including repelling demons and affecting gravity. The reason for both is the same: she's pregnant. As has been true of Misao's decisions previous to this in the story, she doesn't hesitate even slightly in deciding to keep the baby and become a housewife. She even quits school immediately, despite only being maybe six weeks pregnant.

Pregnancies aren't guaranteed to end with the birth of a baby in real life, and even with today's generally high level of health, somewhere between 1/6 and 1/3 of pregnancies end before the end of the first trimester. Such realities have no place in this story, and that's why the Nue clan can attack the Tengu compound and taunt our main couple with the information that, according to the Senka Record, the Senka Maiden will die in childbirth. From glowing rapture to dismay!

I like how Kyo encourages Misao to keep seeing her two best friends (who have basically been non-entities throughout the story, but at least they exist) after she quits school, and how Misao is so bold and determined in the decisions she makes. Prophecies in fiction are often made with loopholes, or overcome by future events, and so on, so I'm not too worried about Misao's fate, but we'll see how that all plays out.

Basically the title of this review is:

I MISS ORIGINALITY.

So yeah...the entire first half of this installment was insanely cliche. Like so much so it hurt. It took the most obvious turn plot wise and suddenly Misao is weaker than ever. For a 1/4 of the book all she can talk about/think about is how much Kyo means to her. She has no ambition for her own future, she only wants to be a bride. Nothing wrong with wanting to be a bride but how about also a mother, a teacher, do some volunteer work - something. She even admits that it's unhealthy but just doesn't care.

Then the second half of the book FINALLY reveals the Senka Roku's ending but sadly I had already figured it out - and it's straight outta Twilight. UG.

In fact this whole volume is so Twilight - normal girls meets and falls in love with Paranormal guy whom she will gladly risk her life for, quit school for, give up her future for, do everything for. Blah.

I'm gonna read volume 16 because I already have it from the library but don't know if I will bother reading beyond that...

The art is so much clearer in this one than previous volumes. You can see how much Sakurakouji has grown as an artist and I loved the panels in this one. I wish the romance in this one was how the beginning of the series started. It's so much healthier and it's not creepy like in the earlier volumes. It's sweet and enduring and loving. Kyo is not a major creepoid.

one of the most interesting but badly done arc’s, the pregnancy arc. i’m ignoring the fact that she’s 16, with an older man and she’s quitting school to have a family, i’m trying really hard to ignore it, just like i did when i was at that age

Wick-a-wick-a-wahhhhhh. Oy! Enough with the waterworks already! Just when I think Misao seems to be smiling more in Black Bird, Vol. 15, she starts bawling again. I feel like I'm being drowned and suffocated by this twit's incessant tears.

In spite of the unrelenting crying, this volume was much better than the past few volumes have been. Masao seems to be getting stronger, but we find out the power growing inside of her has a surprising source.

The cliffhanger ending reveals the unfortunate fate of the Senka Maiden found in the Senka Roku. I'm actually thrilled about this and can't wait to see how this unfolds.

This story follows Misao, a high schooler who can see the magical creatures and spirits that are invisible to everyone else. This gift is merely an annoyance until her sixteenth birthday, when she gets attacked by a demon and discovers that she is the Senka Maiden, or bride of prophecy – a human whose blood gives unlimited power to the demon who claims her. Her childhood friend Kyo appears in time to save her, though it turns out he is a demon as well! Kyo is the leader of the Tengu (crow demon) clan, thus the name of the story. His intentions to protect her, however, seem to be pure – and Misao allows him to lick her wounds long enough to fall in love with him herself. Together they must face the challenges that come from courting the Senka Maiden, as well as the curse that befalls her once she bears the child of a demon.

This was a fantastic story! The characters were well done with bold personality traits: we can clearly see Kyo’s determination, his brother Soh’s treachery and underhandedness, the Daitengu’s loyalty, even Misao’s simultaneous naivety and bravery. And I absolutely loved the plot. Unlike Demon Spell (another manga featuring demons of Japanese culture), the story was very complete, with no detail left unexplained or unaccounted for.

*SPOILER ALERT* But my favorite part of all has to be the ending. Misao’s pregnancy is meant to lead to her death, but just when all seems to be lost, hope appears. Even if their ending isn’t perfect, it is happy, and you find yourself happy and grateful for the imperfection because it shows you how much worse things could have been.

Reseña completa---> http://bit.ly/2MaIXZr

Misao is pregnant!

A happy life with Kyo is right around the corner, but she has to over come a few obstacles. First she has to tell her parents she’s with child and secondly she has to drop our of school.

But a happy life has to stop once the mansion is attacked. An alarming truth is spoken by the enemy, Misao will die once the baby is born.

Holy crap, this is what everyone has been waiting for. A happy ending totally gone wrong. Kyo and Misao have finally gotten everything they wanted, but now their happiness will be destroyed by the birth of their child. It’s actually kind of poetic if you ask me. The birth of a child and the death of a mother. I think Sakurakouji was doing this on purpose. This is kind of giving me Breaking Dawn flash backs of when Bella was having kid. I hope everything turns out well for Kyo and Misao.

Cheers Lovelies.

“when I finish high school I want to become your bride” good LORD. Kyo tries to lazily break up with Misao for drama since he killed Sho but Misao’s life is so consumed by him her only goal has become marriage. It’s sad but a good retrospective. No shade on her wanting to get married and tossing her old goals for college aside, but the way it’s presented is just...bad. And what a surprise that their unprotected sex ended up with her becoming pregnant. Clan attacks, gets defeated, they share details about the important book. It’s revealed that once the baby is born, Misao will die from it sucking up her power.

In which we find out Misao is pregnant and then find out what is her final destiny as the senka maiden!

To be honest, I already knew about the pregnancy part because, well... it's on the last covers of the final volumes. But it was still pretty sweet, I'll admit.

I also already had a feeling that because come on, that's SO dramatic. Of course Black Bird would go down that route.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure this will have a happy ending, so I'm not that worried.

I will not say that this series is not a little bit formulaic and predictable, because honestly, if you have read/seen a lot within this genre/story trope, similar things always seem to happen. So, I am not surprised that Misao is pregnant, but that does not mean that the approach to the situation or the resolution of the problem will be the same, so I am looking forward to read how things pan out for our two love birds.
Good volume, good story, good artwork, good plot. Definitely enjoying this series.

The final ending of the lengends of the Senka Maiden have been discovered, and it's so stupid. I thought maybe the females would turn into demons or become more powerful than their spouses. But, it's like a Twilight thing with a demon baby that could kill you at the end. If that's all, I really don't understand why it had to be such a mystery. I mean, they could totally do it while still using protection. Or they could try to take the baby out early via c-section or something. They make it so much more dramatical than it really needs to be. But I suppose this is manga. If it doesn't have an element of dramatism, it wouldn't be complete.

Aunque una parte de mi ya sabía cómo se desarrollaba el final del fruto sagrado...cuando lo leí me quedé de piedra. Faltan solo 3 tomos y la historia termina, por lo que se imaginarán el clímax que nos está presentando la historia.

Mucho ... Mucho sufrimiento.

Perhaps the most emotional roller coaster ride of all the books so far. Everything from trepidation and wonder at Misao's new powers to the joy of pregnancy and the horror to find out it means her death. Beautifully done.

Damn. This was a bad one. I'm a little scared of how this will end, obviously addressing the baby and Misao's life, which is whatever. This volume just sucked. I can't believe how little agency that Misao has. Really sad.

Nonononon. I just want them to be a happy family. Why can’t they just be happy.
On a real note it totally makes sense though why she would die from the baby and how if they embraced she would die. It was good twist there I will say that.

Misao drops out of high school after learning of her pregnancy. Kyo and Misao tell her parents about the pregnancy and they support her decision to keep the baby. A nue tells Kyo and Misao that the Senka maiden died after giving birth to her demon/human child.

For a series it's not bad. I enjoyed most parts of the story, some things were just not needed. I love all the characters. The love story is crazy but it's a book so do not take it seriously! Also, not a book for young readers.

Happy. Sad. Confused. Devastated. All the emotions. I'm just so ready for it all to be over. Misao and Kyo don't need to be fighting every obstacle anymore. I'm so scared of what's going to happen now. All this has thrown a massive wrench in their happiness.

I read this series when I was younger. It was alright. Some of it was a bit dramatic with zero real context. The female lead was annoyingly too much of a damsel in distress. I wish she would have fought her own battles more. I guess you could say this was my dip towards darker romance.
