Okay, I've had some time to process, and I am still upset. This review is for the entire series which I binged in one night, thankyouverymuch

I should have known from the very beginning when it made me cry not too far into volume 1, that this was going to cause me emotional trauma. Despite the fact that the pacing of some things was weird, and it jumped all over the place, this series had promise. Was it completely unique? No. Have I already read similar story lines? Yes. It made me stay up until way too late reading, which is cool but also annoying especially with how it all ended.

The ending was also all over the place? Like, I guess it sort of makes sense (not really) but at the same time, there are so many other routes the ending could have taken that didn't end in the wolves/demons/whatever you're going to call them. To lose all their human side and turn them into normal house pets? And like, all of a sudden Takamichi is all grown up and pregnant, but which of the other possible suitors is the dad? I have theories, but I'd like to know for sure.

Initial Thoughts after binging the whole series:
I DON'T APPRECIATE BEING WHIPPED AROUND LIKE THIS. DON'T MY FEELINGS MATTER AT ALL.

Excuse me while I process my feelings and broken heart, I will try to review better later. BUT I DON'T APPRECIATE THIS

I couldn't get into this volume the same way I did volume one, so I just skim read some of it and decided to call it a day. Not a bad series, but just not for me sadly.

[Also available on my blog.]

I love this series. I’m only two books in and I love it completely. I want more, and every time I finish a volume, it takes me forever to get a review written. And one of the main reasons (aside from me being slow and lazy) is that I never know what to say. It’s just amazing and adorable and I love it, and that’s all I can ever think. Words do not happen when I try writing about this series.

It’s like… like, you know, when something makes you feel so much that you’re left with absolutely no words? Something, be it a book or movie or meme or even a person, that blows your mind so much that you have no words to describe it? Usually in a good way, but sometimes in a bad way as well. Well, that’s what this series makes me feel. I love it so much, and I always want more, and I have no idea how to explain all the things it makes me feel. This series is probably, at the moment, at five stars for me, even if the single volumes haven’t been given that high a rating (although they’re very close, just on the edge of 4.5 and higher). I don’t want to jinx it, though, and give it the chance of turning bad somewhere down the line, since I’ve only just started the series.

Anyway, once again, I am going to try and form words to convince you to read this series. If you haven’t read my first review, in which I also try to do that, here it is.

In this volume, we meet some new characters. First, there’s this little vampire bat boy, Meru, who hasn’t grown into his full powers yet, and is set on biting Takamichi in order to get them. He also turns into an adult form, and starts going to school with the group. Then there’s Lily, a girl who was haunting a house while waiting for her mistress to come back, who later becomes attached to Takamichi.

It really just seems like people are starting to attach themselves to Takamichi, which I don’t really mind.

After that, there’s a fight between Takamichi and Snow, and then there’s a small Birthday plotline, where Snow and Night find out what a Birthday actually entails, and try celebrating Takamichi’s.

There’s also a short at the end, featuring when Snow and Night were younger and unsure of Takamichi’s feelings toward them. They end up talking to Moon, Takamichi’s father’s jiu jiu, who is older and rather blunt and crude. This was a great mix of sweet and funny and sad, which is a rather good example of the whole series so far. This short was five pages and it still had the perfect mix of emotions that Tobina seems incredibly able to put together. It’s just so great.

This series is just so fantastic. I love it unconditionally.

Takamichi is a tsundere, and she’s protective and hard edged. She has a hard time expressing her emotions at first, gets embarrassed easily by them, but always ends up just jumping forward and exclaiming them in some way, which usually turns out sweet.

Then there’s Night and Snow, whom I totally and completely love. There’s Night, who studies and is more quiet and calm, and there’s Snow, who’s more loud and outgoing and high spirited, and they both love Takamichi so much and want her attention and affection. They are both very different, and yet so similar; they are different characters, and I love them both equally. I don’t know which one I prefer at the moment, which is just another thing I love about this series. There isn’t an obvious way to lean, like there usually is. I just fully love them both and want them both to be happy.

Ah, they make me ache inside because I love them so much. It's just... perfect. They're perfect.

Really, though, this whole series makes me hurt inside, in such a good way, because I love it so much and feel so strongly about it and I just… there are no more words. Just nonsensical noises.

Just… just go read it. Right now. Okay?

Now that that’s finished, I’m ready for the next one, immediately.

Another wonderful series that just pulls you in, and keeps you reading all night. The only time I stopped reading this was when I was so sleepy that I could no longer keep my eyes open. Thanks to VIZ Media and Edelweiss for providing me V2 and V3 of *Jiu Jiu* to read and review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
------------
*Jiu Jiu* are a type of animal that is animal, human, and monster. They are very loyal to their masters. Snow and Night, as they are named because of their fur colors, belong to a girl named Takamichi.
Takamichi comes across as tomboyish, yet she is still beautiful and much loved. She takes care of Snow and Night in every way needed. She plays games, such as frisbee, with them. She takes them for walks. She even lets them sleep in her bed with her. She is a very devoted master.
-------
But, one day, during a game of Frisbee, they find a vampire bat that turns into a Prince named Meru. Meru is obsessed with drinking Takamichi's blood. Much to the wolves' sadness, he does indeed get a few sips. One the first time he's there, and another on his second visit.
Meru believes that having her blood makes him stay his actual age instead of having a childish form. But, he is a very annoying character. I do not like him.
-------
While Takamichi, the wolves, and their classmates are on a Summer Vacation trip to a private beach, things go amiss as well, including the suitcases being thrown out into kanji that have something to do with suicide.
Turns out, there is a Selkie in the house, and she misses her master. But, she has put up such a boundary that her master was having trouble returning. When her master does return, it is to tell the Selkie that she wants her to be nice to the new people in the house, and that she needs to find a new master.
Takamichi hears this, and decides not only to buy said house, but also to become the Selkie's new master.
---------
Lastly, soon thereafter, it's Takamichi's birthday, and the wolves have no idea what to get her. Not only that, but they also think that SHE is supposed to get THEM presents on HER birthday! That gets cleared up for them, and they give her the perfect heartfelt gift.
Now, she must go attend a family head meeting as the new head. How will THAT go for her?!?

A supernatural manga fun and tortured.

Indeed, there are several entries to this reading. One is fun with the young wolf cubs: Snow and Night who grew up and became two handsome young men. Despite their physical appearances similar to those of teenagers, they are still children who adore to plan many malicious mischief. They are also undisciplined and do not listen much to their mistress, Takamichi.

Then, there is the relationship with death. The changes caused by the pain, suffering and the loss of a loved one. With Takamichi, the author approaches the difficulty of grief. The guilt for staying alive while the other is dead.
Some subjects which are quite heavy offset by the antics and clowning of the wolves.

In addition, topics such as loneliness, withdrawal, exclusion, fear of taking care and bonding with someone are also discussed with the help of the vampire and ghost characters. The mixture is quite interesting and moving.
Of course, since this is a manga, there are a few scenes a little crazy to ease the reading.
Monsters and fighting scenes appear too, since it is in the supernatural genre.

As for the drawings, they are fairly simple with fine lines. Clean bubbles clean, without too much detail.

An interesting manga that I wait impatiently to see more.

I think the one thing about this manga is that when it comes to the secondary characters, they're easily the strongest part of the series. I read this volume at the same time as volume 3, so I have to say that the volumes do sort of blend together. If I put something here that is actually in 3, forgive me.

That said, I absolutely loved the male vampire introduced in this volume. Not only is he freaking adorable, but he's rather interesting. Like Night and Snow, he inevitably becomes attached to Takamichi. One of the good parts of this volume is that we're finally given more reasons as to why so many male characters would eventually become attracted to Takamichi. There's a slow thawing of her character in this volume but overall I'm still baffled at times as to why every male character wants her. I know that this is seen in just about every manga ever written, but it is occasionally annoying with this series.

Overall though, this is a decent enough second volume. It continues to give the reader the things that made us love the first volume, namely cutesy male characters cantering and playing around in various cutesy ways. There is some movement towards setting up a story line centered around family politics, but by large this volume sticks to playing the cuteness of the male character's personalities off of Takamichi's somber one.

Ughhhh. There's still so much potential for this series to be about things I'm into but it's such a hot mess at the moment. Like at this point I would pretty much strip all the sexualization out (it's creepy when she's young and they're her pets and also all the vampire stuff is grosssss), sharpen Takamichi's characterization (death of co-dependant twin issues! Determination to be independent and in charge! Instinctive kindness she is terrible at acting on and only now learning not to repress! Slowly opening up to the world by way of caring for humanized pets! This girl could be my FAVOURITE if Tobina writes her right), and drop the vampire (I like vampires generally but his manipulative rapey overtones need 2 go). Lily can stay tho. :D Fix it Tobina! 2 stars

Another great volume to this beginning series. This one delves into more of how Takamichi needs her familiars just as much as they need her. Also in other small chapters we meet new characters like a young vampire and a selkie maid. I'd like to see now whether this will become more of a comedic fantasy or a serious fantasy as it progresses from here.

This literally gave me a headache to read. This series has SO MUCH potential, but none of it is being played out. The characters don't have substance as much as they do "fluff'n'stuff", to quote Pooh bear. Though I am a little curious to hear about who may be Takamichi's sister, I don't see myself picking up the next volume anytime soon.

Absolutely adorable. Funny, touching, and just fantastic. Of course, I have to admit I have a weakness for cute wolves..:)
