A fun and easygoing read with little conflict, and a pretend engagement storyline. I loved the Ireland setting, the very sexy Irish hero, and the charming Irish village of Dunley with its meddlesome townsfolk. A cute book.

Sean and Georgia's story was the perfect fit for my moon! I read the Greek version of this book and it was quite nice. I love an Irish related romance story!

Oh what a fun book. Sean and Georgia have become friends now that her sister is married to his cousin. What they didn't expect was a growing attraction between them. When they finally gave in, it was explosive and they began a planned no strings affair. Then Sean's mom had a heart attack and laid a guilt trip on him about wanting him settled. So he asked Georgia to pretend to be engaged to him until his mom was feeling better. The more time they spent together the more real it seemed. Sean is a lot like his cousin Ronan (Up Close and Personal). He didn't want to have to worry about love. All he could see of it was that people lost control and acted like idiots. He really enjoyed his affair with Georgia and found more and more that he just liked spending time with her. He also noticed that he was spending a lot of time thinking about her when they were apart. I liked the way that he was so supportive of her business and helped her get it set up. He was surprised by her ideas for his planes and intrigued by what he saw in her as she described them. When he decided that he would like to make their engagement real and went to her with his plan for them to marry he was stunned when she refused him. I loved his total cluelessness and the way he didn't believe Ronan when he told Sean what a bad idea it was. His loss of control at the end was perfect. Georgia was a lot of fun. I liked her independence and the way she went after what she wanted when she made her decision to move to Ireland. Her attraction to Sean was intense and she worried that she would end up falling in love with him. She thought she would be able to control her feelings but ended up falling anyway. I loved seeing her at her ex's wedding and the way she stomped on him. When Sean first proposed making their engagement real she had high hopes, but then he kept talking about anything but love. She was hurt and furious and let him have it. The final scene in the wine cellar was great. I also loved Sean's mom and the way she conspired with Georgia's sister to keep them together.

This apparently continues off a previous book, Up Close and Personal, which I didn't read. This is that book's hero's cousin, Sean Connolly and the heroine's sister, Georgia Page. They get it on and sort of start an affair secretly, but when his mother ends up in the hospital, he makes the mistake of telling her he's happily settled and engaged with Georgia. This lie spirals out of control and begins to involve the rest of the town. Their affair continues, but Georgia finds herself falling in love with Sean, who doesn't really believe that love exists, and is certainly no reason for getting married. But Georgia will not marry without love, which becomes a problem when Sean realizes that he'd kinda like to make their fake engagement real without succumbing to love.

This wasn't too bad at all. Although, my detail-oriented mind found one niggling little detail to be far too consuming throughout the story. How on earth did Georgia just move to Ireland and start up a business? Doesn't one have to go through a rather lengthy immigration process? Could be she's staying on a visa, but Georgia talked like this was a permanent thing. And even so, staying on a resident visa typically requires some sort of valuable skill or company sponsorship, neither of which really applied here. That aside, Sean and Georgia had a very quick relationship. Sex within the first 10% and then a decidedly angst free relationship up until the whole love thing pops up. Their relationship was actually kind of boring in the first 50%, but it picked up later on. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but I did find it very humorous how Sean had his ass more or less handed to him when he proposed to Georgia that first time. Too bad it took him so long to see where he went wrong.

The story is about Sean Connolly and Georgia Page. Sean is wealthy, handsome, funny and good in all ways and he is the guy every woman wants and the owner of Irish Air. He will eventually meet Georgia on the wedding of his cousin who is more like a brother to him. At the first sight itself he will be attracted to Georgia and she also shares the same feelings. However the all Mr Perfect Sean will come up with Outrageous proposal of asking Georgia to act as his fiancee until his mother is well. Being together has only made them to fall in love with each other and how they will admit to that feeling is the story about.

Compared to Laura's story Georgia sister, I preferred this story better because it is incredible witty and it is nice to see a heroine as kick ass as Georgia. Maureen has a great way of telling story and it is really very entertaining and a light read. The readers will definitely enjoy the chemistry between Sean and Georgia.

As a sex machine, Sean Connolly is really great in the sack. (Of course. They all are.) He’s also built up a flight company through stubbornness and good business savvy. But his offer to go into a fake engagement to help his sick mother recover her health is a really bad idea. He’s told this by his cousin and Georgia Page is told this by her sister. Do they listen? Well, yeah. But they go ahead with it anyway.

Georgia Page is supposedly a smart woman too. But she’s envious of her sister’s happiness and ignores her sibling’s warning that sex without love isn’t something either of them has ever been able to manage. So when Sean makes her an offer to help her get her business off the ground and gives her a great deal on a house to sweeten the pot, she jumps at the offer.

This book manages to bring comedy into a traditional novel about fake engagement. A hilarious treatise about how a little white lie can snowball into a big disaster, we are treated to an entire town avidly watching the so-called engaged pair and betting on the outcome.

They have great chemistry together and compatible natures. They also worked very well together in public as well as private. So this novel has people in it who show that love is more than hormones colliding.

I have to admit, however, I was just as annoyed as Georgia was by Sean’s dry proposal of an arranged marriage (what is this, the 17th century?). After all, what right did he have to get angry with her? Wasn’t she sticking to their original agreement: have a fake engagement and then end it and publicly? She stood by the terms; so what was he in a huff about?

Naturally, George and Sean fall for each other. But a bungled wedding proposal throws a wrench into the works—and that’s when we see the entire town of Dunley turn out to support Sean.

In spite of the fact that Sean is as crass as Barkis in proposing marriage, the people of Dunley are a colorful bunch and are a treat to read about, even when the focus is shifted from the main characters. The Irish make for great craic and the author manages to have them engage without reducing them to being caricatures. Good novel, interesting characters and a credible ending. Erin go bragh!

Maureen Child is a gifted author who really has a prowess over words. Although I rated this book with only 2 stars, my rating would be more more around 2.5. There were certain aspects which made it slightly cumbersome to read even while being really enjoyable in other places.
What I didn't care too much about was Sean's character, as far as a reason for not falling in love is concerned. His reasons make sense, but just about barely. They don't seem strong enough for him to run away from the very concept of love the way he does. The second, slightly taxing aspect was the often seen repetitive nature. The story dragged on for longer than needed, in my opinion. Some things, like the main characters' thoughts, were very repetitive, making it a little boring.
But there were some aspects of the story which made it a really fun read too. The first, for me, was the way Sean spoke - his accent (which you can literally hear as you read), his way of speaking, his lingo and his mannerisms. It all felt extremely authentic and so Irish that you could really associate with him. Added to that is his humor, one of the strongest traits of his character which also, was really enjoyable.
What I especially liked was the warm Irish life the book depicts. A village where everyone knows everyone and gossip is everyone's favorite even though they will protect each other from harm at the drop of a hat. The lifestyle that Maureen Child depicts is wonderful, half making you want to be a part of the sweet madness. What I really liked is the way the author maintained the point of view of one character at any one time so wonderfully, without wavering, and still managed to voice the feelings and thoughts of both characters. Another really likable aspect is the way Child mixes the American lingo and Irish lingo so easily and effortlessly that you don't find any disruption in the flow at all. And while the main characters' relationship was quite interesting, I loved the relationship between Georgia and Ronan (her brother in law), which was sweet and touching.
All in all, I wouldn't categorize this book as unputdownable, but I think that it's a book that all romance readers will definitely enjoy.

I loved this book the way I love Nora Roberts' Irish books and what a compliment that is! Maureen Child is the next Nora Roberts, mark my words. This talented and prolific author, currently published by Harlequin's Desire line, gives you characters you can sink you teeth into with strong voices and unique traits. Her writing is fresh and memorable and always amusing and full of surprises. This is an author to watch.

An Outrageous Proposal is the 2nd in a 2-part series, the first being Up Close and Personal. They are the stories of two sisters, Laura and Georgia Page. This is the story of Georgia who has been traveling back and forth from her home in L.A. to visit her sister Laura, her new husband and his close-as-a-brother cousin, Sean, in the small Irish village of Dunley. The night her baby niece was born Georgia and Sean gave in to the attraction between them (and wow-what a scene that was!)and became lovers. They were quite happy keeping their affair secret until Sean's mother suffered a heart attack. As she lay there in the hospital bed looking so pale and crying over leaving Sean all alone Sean blurts out that he isn't alone. He's engaged. To Georgia. Now all he has to do is convince Georgia to go along with the lie until his mother has recovered then they can fake a break up and everything can go back to normal. Surely nothing can go wrong with such a plan, right? What an outrageous proposal!

This book follows Child's "Up Close and Personal," which is Ronan Connolly's and Laura Page's story. Sean Connolly is Ronan's cousin, and Georgia Page is Laura's sister. I am a Maureen Child fan, and she delivers quite well in this one.

Everytime I see a book by Maureen Child I know I have to read it. I remember that I enjoy her books and have not had a bad one yet. And yet when I read one of her books it astounds me to see how incredibly talented she is. She has the talent of writing characters with depths, original and creative plot lines, and produces an enjoyable read all in just 192 pages.

An Outrageous Proposal was wonderful. The story was fun and creative, and while reading it there were several moments that made me simply smile.

It was kind of reading the first book of the duet "Up Close and Personal". I guess the sisters couldn't have a whole ocean to separate them. Sex with no strings attach, we all know how that goes in romantic fiction; a meddling (very annoying actually) town and a heroine who just wanted to hear 'I love you' and a heroe who figured it out right at the end. Nothing original but it did keep me entertained without hurting my brain.

This was an ok read for me. It's a good beginners romance. This author has potential to write steamer , better novels. I did skim through most of it after their first love scene. Sigh. Let's just say it left a lot to be desired after that.

Fun story. Very well written. Wasn't hard to imagine the Irish accents! Loved the Gaelic phrases. HN's observation about plane interiors made me laugh (don't ask!)
