Katie’s long-lost father is finally reaching out—but is she ready for the reunion? For as long as Katie can remember, it’s just been her and her mom. But that’s about to change. First her mom gets a boyfriend. And then Katie gets an email from her dad, whom she’s never met, saying he wants to get together. Katie’s not sure she’s ready for so much change in her life. With so much happening at once, Katie’s counting on her friends in the Cupcake Club to help her find the sweet side of what seems like a sticky situation.
Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she’s afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 100 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing.
Have you ever know that you have a dad but you never met him before? Katie Brown did. She was so shock when her father didn't notice that she was his daughter when she sees him again!
Katie was living happily with her mom, but one day, her mom starts to do make-up and date with her new boyfriend. Katie also get an email from her dad and it says her dad want to see her. Katie's life was so mixed up, and she needs to make a new recipe for her life.
This book, I rated it 5 stars because the author make the reader really tempting to read more and more to find out the ending. And some of the events in the book gave me a lot of emotions and feelings. When Katie sees her dad, and her dad didn't noticed her, I felt so sorry for Katie and thought if I was in that situation, I would be really flabbergasted and shocked, maybe, I would be so depressed that I can't do anything else.
I want to strongly reccommend this book to readers at upper elementary and beginning of middle school. They should read to themselves and not someone reading aloud to them.
Katie is used to life just being her and her mum since her dad left. Now, her mum is dressing up more and singing round the house to herself whilst letting Katie have and do more of what she wants when she asks, strange!
Only when she tells her fellow Cupcake Club friends they seem to think there must be and ulterior motive and Katie spurs on her mum eventually discovering they might be right!
All about parents and the world of them dating again, Katie has to handle the situation despite her being shocked. It is a relatable story about accepting and moving on after a marriage breaks down. It was a great show of friendship too as the girl's cater a party with their beloved cupcakes.
I liked how in this one Katie was all afraid of change and new things, so all the girls did something new or a little scary to help her get used to it.
I didn't like how Katie's mom was so closed with Katie, however. I feel like she should have mentioned that she liked someone and they would be going on dates, instead of sneaking around. And it wasn't right that she got on Katie for spying. I mean what the hell was she supposed to do? Her mom wasn't being open in the first place like she should have been.
Also Katie's dad isn't a great person in my book. But I hope Katie gets the courage some day to talk to him. Even if it's just telling him off.
I really liked this book! It was good to see that when Katie was having so many changes in her life she handled it like a mature tween. She went to her friends when she was down and they helped her with finding her dad. When Katie's mom was going out on dates Katie was devastated and never thought she would start dating after her father left. But she got used to it and knows that her mom will never replace her or her father. I probably will not reread this book anytime soon because I have so many other great novels to read. I recommend for ages 7+.
The theme is trusting, Katie's mom is acting weird getting dressed up, a new hairstyle, and putting on lipgloss. Katie doesn't like things changing so she follows her mom and sees her with a guy. She gest mad but doesn't say anything. Her long lost father contacts her and has a restaurant with three daughters.........
I love this series! Though if you have read the book and finished it, you have to read this question! Do you think Guava and Peanut Butter would be good? I do not.... Guava is a type of jelly. I think that this book shows a TON of feelings and emotions! I think Katie is so awesome!
“‘That was egg-cellent!’” - This one was good. Katie’s mom starts dating, and Katie also hears from her dad (who abandoned her family for a new one when she was a toddler). Katie struggles with change, and her friends are very sweet and each try new things for her sake.
The series continues to delight and amuse. This one focuses on Katie and her relationships. She is really starting to like a childhood chum, her mom is stepping out with a new guy. The most heart-wrenching part of the story is her trying to reconnect with a father that left she and her mother when she was a baby. Coco Simon handles this element of the story with depth and tact. They are continuing to grow, but she is not rushing it for them and she is still keeping them relevant. Still loving the series.
