A love that spans eternity

For Ivy, miracles are real. After all, it was a miracle this summer when she survived a near fatal car crash. And it was a miracle that Tristan, her boyfriend who died a year ago, returned to Earth as an angel. But Ivy knows better than anyone that miracles come at a price.

Even though Tristan has come back to Ivy, life is far from perfect. He's a fallen angel - and he's trapped in the body of a wanted murderer. With Tristan on the run from the police, Ivy's not sure she'll ever get her happy ending.

But when it becomes clear that Ivy's worst enemy, the demon Gregory, is back to taunt her, it's not just Tristan's life that's in danger. And Gregory is hell-bent on getting back what he wants: her.

Will Ivy and Tristan ever be safe to be together? Or has Ivy run out of miracles?

I really realy think that Elizabeth Chandler should've stuck to the first three books. It's true that the ending was bittersweet for those Tristan and Ivy fans, but it had the proper closure and everything was resolved. Evercrossed I found pretty interesting, although maybe too short. Elizabeth Chandler should've just merged Evercrossed with this one, then MAYBE then Everlasting could have been good.

Ivy is reunited with her true love, Tristan, but with a huge cost. Tristan is a fallen angel, trapped in the body of a murderer. Now, they both go in search for Tristan's innocence, so they can be together. To add to their list of problems, Gregory is back, and threatening to destroy Ivy once and for all. Not to mention that Tristan's soul could be lost forever.... Why is being together so difficult for them?

I really wanted to love this book, I actually thought it was the last one in the series, but no,stupid me there's going to be ANOTHER book out. So, Ivy and Tristan's story starts off good: Suspense and mystery is shown from the begginning. I found that Elizabeth Chandler did something she shouldn't have: she paced the story way too slow. Maybe she was trying to "build the suspense", but there wasn't any to begin with. The first 100 pages (maybe I'm exaggerating) is back story. I found myself skipping paragraphs and sentences to get to the "good" part. Even what once was "cute" and "adorable" now constantly annoyed me. Tristan and Ivy were reckless in this book, and their supposed "eternal love" wasn't even that strong in this "novella". I find that what was being portrayed in this book, has been done before , like for example in the Dirty Little Secrets/Lies/Games/Voices books by Laurie Faria Stolarz. I was a huge fan of this series, but I really believe that Elizabeth Chandler should have either: A)Left if at the original trilogy or B)Tried to forget about making money and actually write a good quality suspense book with a decent enough cliffhanger at the end -.- The only reason I would ever rate this book 5 stars,
would be because of the amazing cover, but no, I won't stoop that low. 1.5 to 2 stars.

If you're a really big fan of the Kissed by An Angel trilogy, then maybe you shouldn't read this book... or at least don't spend money on it. Borrow it from someone that's lucky enough to still want to buy these books. I was sent an advanced copy, so thankfully, no spending money for me ^.^

I loved this book, I feel like the author put more details and mystery to her book. I couldn't stop reading, I felt like I was litteraly in the book. I like how there was twists in the mysteries, when I thought that could be the victim, it would unravel into a different mystry every time I thought it was close to finding out who the murder is just kept going till the end.

I couldn't believe Tristian died, I started to cry. The romance in this story is intesnse how he came back for Ivy, just showed how he can't go a day without her. How Ivy found out he was on earth was the best part I like how Lacy gave hints that he is on earth in a physical body, it's cool how he is in Lukes body, the guy that is a suspect for murder. How Tristian and Ivy try to show that he is not guilty and how they tried to figure who killed Chealsea, was my favorite, because they got a chance to be together.

Beth, Ivys' best friend has a demon in her spirit, which is Gregory. Ivy's step brother that tried to kill her. He is in Beth to hurt Ivy but their friendship is so strong that they over come him. Which made me way happy. Although she almost killed Ivy she fought him.

Lacy is a ghost that Tristian met when he died she is kind of my favorite character, because she is layed back and she tries to help Tristian with the murdery and Ivy. The reason I like her the most is because when there is a problem she is not worried or even sad, there is no emotion that she shows cept for being a teaser she is very sarcastic which is the best part.

Blech! That is the sum total of my opinion.
Not worth the time.
Not a good plot.
Not good characters.
Heck, not even a good romance and these two have fought through death itself to be together so the romance should be better than tepid, dontcha think?
This series was originally three books and while the ending was bittersweet, if a bit hurried, that ending worked. This feels very much like the old books were dusted off and it was decided that more money could be made from this series without remembering that the story is finished. Or should have been.
Sometimes a story has simply been told.
Should be left alone.
Should not be added on.
And so you're thinking well, quitcherbitchin, you chose to read the dang thing. Yes, I surely did and I regret that. These last two installments have ruined my original feelings about the series to the point where I now dislike the whole mess.
Okay, to specifics.
Tristan has returned from the Great Beyond in the body of Luke, a murder suspect whom, as it turns out, was murdered himself. There is much about how Luk-stan must stay hidden, until later in the book when he mostly doesn't and okey-dokey then, whatever.
Luk-stan and Ivy are in love and kiss. Does that sound a bit dull? Yeah, it is like that, there is no warmth or passion felt between these two. They could have been two platonic friends investigating this murder with the total lack of emotion between them. It's missing and since the overall arc is about unending, eternal, I-can't-go-on-without-you love, that is a substantial missing piece. We are told they have this love for one another, but it isn't shown or felt. Their conversations and soulful glances don't feel like two teenagers. They sound very stilted and formal, not like anyone normally speaks or behaves.
There is a large cast of characters, Kelsey, Dhanya, Max, Chase, Bryan, Alicia, Tony, about whom I care nothing. They are not developed in any way and are mostly various generic types who don't move the action along in any neccessary way. They party, they hang out, none of it is interesting and reads like the filler that it is.
Most of the plot is about the murder of Corrine(wait! who's Corrine, you might be asking, but don't worry, this whole plot which is most of the book, truly isn't important), with side bits about Beth being taken over by the also-dead Gregory and Beth being nasty, unkind, attempting murder, etc. Wow, that is edge-of-your-seat stuff, right? No. It is pushed aside so much to deal with the plot that I cared nothing about that when some action happens there, it seems stuck in, as if the author just remembered she needed to move that plot along.
This feels like the author was desperate to write more in the series, but didn't really have any new ideas for her characters so she either recycled used plots or crafted one about people that no one cares about.
All of the actual action happens in the last fifty or so pages.
So, the final book will be about Tristan losing his soul, I suppose. I should care, but I don't. I don't actually think the author does, either.
Badly done.

Being in love with this series, I knew had to read the book. For me, I was expecting more in this book. I have seen these characters grow and learn through out the series. So when I started reading the book I just felt like something was missing.

I really enjoyed the characters. The characters have changed so much through out the series its good to see them all working together instead of fighting. They learned to trust each other and to help each other out. The way that they worked together to help find answers is neat! I enjoyed going on their wild chases to find out who was the murder.

Now the plot line I didn't really enjoy. For me, it felt like the plot repeated. There was still tension between Ivy and Will, still jealousy amongst the circle of friends. While they grew, they are still doing the same thing they have done in the book before. You understand what I am saying? I felt like the plot didn't really move so that's my only gripe about the book.

The love interest is still enduring as ever and I could never get enough of Ivy and Tristan. They are a couple who's love is rare to find but so peaceful to read!

Everlasting is an great book! As a fan of this series, it's like stepping into the world I never left. The fight between good and evil is brewing and about to blow. With an heart-stopping ending, Everlasting will leave you smiling!

I really wasn't impressed with this book and am ready for the series to be over. How many times can one person/angel come back anyway?? And the big twist of who tried to kill Luke really wasn't a surprise to me at all and the book just came off as boring and repetitive.

Review brought to you by OBS staff member Annabell

Note: Contains spoilers!

I have been a fan of author Mary-Claire Helldorfer, who writers the Kissed By An Angel Series under the pseudonym Elizabeth Chandler, since I read the first book in the series. I was very much excited when I received an advanced copy of Everlasting to read since I had been unaware that the author was going to continue with Ivy and Tristan’s tale (I had thought the series was really a trilogy). I had also been unaware that this was the fifth book in the series so I hadn’t read the fourth one but that didn’t stop me from jumping into this one.

Thankfully, the essential parts of the plot to the fourth book are somewhat explained in Everlasting so I wasn’t completely lost as to how Tristan had managed to not only come back but also, why he was turned into a fallen angel.

Tristan may be back but there is no safe place for him to since the cops are hunting him down, or more like the body he has taken over, Luke. Luke, or rather Tristan, had been found unconscious on the beach one night and had lost all of memories including his own name. Gradually, Tristan started to remember his memories but nothing about Luke until Ivy showed up to explain things to him. Together, Ivy and Tristan, fight to keep Tristan hidden while attempting to find evidence to prove Luke is really innocent so Tristan can be free to stay with Ivy. But that isn’t Ivy and Tristan’s only problem: Gregory has returned as well and is using Ivy’s best friend Beth to go after Ivy, determined to destroy Ivy’s life, literally.

I was happy to see that Tristan had returned. At the beginning, I had been a bit confused since I had not read the first one but I quickly caught up due to a bit of explanation from both Ivy and Tristan. As a hopeless romantic, I loved being able to see the amount of dedication and loyalty Ivy and Tristan have for one another. It’s sweet and profound. I also enjoyed the new set of characters (they may have been in the fourth one though??). Bryan, Chase, and Max are the cool rich kids. Max is the more shy and sweet one. Chase surprised me by his level of knowledge and the fact that he did enjoy reading. But there were moments it became much when he was trying to show off. Bryan is the all-around jock with handsome good looks, talent on the hockey arena, and a great sense of humor. Kelsey is confidant and the complete girly-girl. Dhanya is snarky, beautiful and sure of herself. I preferred Dhanya’s character over Kelsey. Kelsey was rather insecure and petty where Dhanya was stronger.

But even with a bigger set of characters throughout the story and the mission of proving Luke (who is really Tristan) is innocent, the book failed to deliver on the suspense and thrill. Even the romance was weaker than in the previous three books I had read. The pacing was extremely slow with the author feeling the need to describe every location in detail as well as everything the characters did! It became infuriating. I had to skip pages to be able to keep reading.

The plot is okay but nothing that hasn’t already been done in an actual thriller and much better. Ivy and Tristan are reckless and lack common sense in their actions throughout the book. There were so many moments they should have been caught or seen but miraculously weren’t. Ivy was also far too lackluster with her reaction to the fact that Gregory has possessed her best friend’s body. She spent time going to the beach and tanning as well as going to parties and sneaking out to meet Tristan, instead of attempting to come up with a plan to save her best friend.

Will was barely part of the story and when he was he did nothing more than brood over the fact that Ivy had broken up with him to be with Luke. He spent the majority of the book in denial over what was happening to Beth even though he was the one who spent the most time with and could clearly tell what was happening.

Everlasting disappointed me. I had to struggle to get through the pages and pages of description and lack luster plot to get to the action which lasted for very short periods of time. The ending was abrupt and left on a cliffhanger. There are thirteen books in total to be part of the series. I am not sure what in the world the author is going to do with eight more books but I’m weary to find out. Perhaps she should have left the series as trilogy since the books seemed to work better that way.

If you’re a fan of the Kissed By An Angel Series, I suggest to skip over this installment.

The Kissed by an Angel series overall is an absolute breathtaking gem. Elizabeth Chandler doesn't disappoint at all, with this fifth (third?) installment. This series just keeps on getting better and better and has become one of my fave ongoing series.

Surprising to say this but I miss Gregory much more after seeing what Bryan did. It felt like Bryan was just a shadow of Gregory in the evil/psychotic department. Btw I was pretty spot on about my hunch on Bryan and was glad it turned out to be true. Gregory on the other hand was so much more unpredictable even if IK he's evil, that makes it more fun.

The whole Bryan Kelsey and Ivy drama felt like deja vu. Anyone else remember Gregory, Suzzane and Ivy?

That whole scenario was a little repetitive but amazingly something that wouldn't really annoy readers as it usually would.

Ivy and Tristan are the ultimate soul-mates. So far, I haven't come across any couple in fiction where I've seen so much undying love between them. It really feels like their aren't enough words to describe seeing them love each other except that its so breathtaking and marvelous.

What, I really do adore about this series is that being almost two decades old, I would imagine that their would be a generation difference but no, its so easy to slip in this world and thorougghly enjoy it.

There seriously aren't enough words to say how much I really love this series and everyone in it (with namely some exceptions). All I can say is, I feel like this deserves a more then a 5***** rating but a Five will have to do.

This novel is like my favorite since Kissed by the Angel. And no matter how much I want to give it a 5, it had to be done... I’m giving it a 4. I love the book and I really do. But this book and Evercrossed just weren’t good as the first one. Although I would give a 5 that Tristan and Ivy is together and that the ending for Everlasting is also a 5 because DAMN.... it not the end and I want to know what the hell happened to Tristan. If he dead again....ARGH!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!??????
Ivy thought that she had lost Tristan. But he’s back as a fallen angel... in a body of a murder. Now Tristan is on the run and Ivy will do everything to find out who’s the real murder that could fame her boyfriend. That not least of her problem, her dead stepbrother Gregory still hunts her in the body of her best friend Beth. Everybody is at a dangerous risk. Will Ivy and Tristan figure out how to rid all the evil without losing each other in process?
Gosh!!!! The ending is making me sad! I thought this would me the last book but I guess it not because the love of Ivy and Tristan is still open. And that bastard Gregory is up to no good! C’mon let them be together in peace!!!!

A copy was provided by Simon and Schuster Canada for review! Thank you!

We’re back with Ivy and Tristan, but this time Tristan is inside the body of a murderer which doesn’t help their situation one but. Even though Beth is there in person she’s not the same either. Her composure is different and sinister and I couldn’t help but shudder at the things she did. Well not Beth herself but Gregory. We find Tristan and Ivy trying to solve a mystery and together they fall deeper in love which I immensely liked.

The character of Will on the other hand is also there but not so supportive of Ivy anymore, he has cared for Beth always and when she literally tries to kill Ivy, Will realizes it’s not her after all.

I love Elizabeth Chandler’s writing. I like the detail of the setting, the personality and depth of the characters even though Ivy is always at death’s door. My favourite character has to be Lacey with her quick witty remarks and humor, she shines through and through and I can’t wait what Elizabeth Chandler has in store for her.

Everlasting was a draggy continuation of Evercrossed. Once the person Gregory possessed was revealed, the book just continued to point out the strange behaviour of this character. Ivy and Tristan (aka Guy aka Luke) do some detective work in attempt to clear Luke's name as the murderer of Corinne. It was really far-fetched how Ivy and Tristan were able to find solid clues on the internet and ask people related to Corinne questions under the pretense of Ivy being a classmate and Tristan as Luke with memory loss. Also, despite the book's constant reminder that Ivy was under Police watch, she never got caught sneaking out to meet Luke/Tristan!

I didn't like the direction that the story took with Will one bit. In the original trilogy he was built up to be a decent partner for Ivy but EVERYTHING was thrown out in Everlasting. It's obvious Tristan and Ivy's love is doomed. How can they be together? I can only see it ending in greater pain for Ivy. Only way to find out is to finish the 6th book... (Happily?) Everafter.

Things have gotten so confusing! I feel like everyone is switching boyfriends too much! I always enjoy reading Elizabeth Chandler's writing (Though, she must have rushed through this book a little because there were a few typos I noticed.) Her stories always captivate me and leave me wanting more. Can't wait to see what happens to Ivy, Tristan, and the rest of the gang. Maybe Suzanne will be back and she will be the next victim of Gregory? Just a guess. Looks like I will have to wait and see!

Sentimenti contrastanti
3 stelle e mezzo

I couldn't even finish reading the book, it was that bad. Elizabeth Chandler should stick to what she writes best.. Young adult mundane romances.. Supernatural and paranormal romances are so not her forte..
True she did a good job with Kissed by an Angel , but the quality of her books just keeps on deteriorating as the series proceeds.
I had cried my eyes out when Tristan died in the first book. Now I could quite cheerfully clob him to death and enjoy doing so!
I can't believe it's the same writer who wrote Love at First Click and I Do..

This is the sequel to Evercrossed. I found the story a bit repetitive and some elements felt like a rehash of the plot in the first book. I thought that the untangling of the mystery surrounding Luke was interesting but I would have liked to have felt more of a connection to the characters and their fates.

An okay read but I was expecting more from the story which didn't particularly grip me.

Good book. I liked reading it. You were able to experience a different side of the character, Beth which we haven't seen in the first book. The characters face a murderer trapped in their friend's body and try everthying they can to protect Ivy and from Gregory, but they soon realize that Beth is the one that is going to need the most help and support to get the demon Gregory out of her so that she will no longer be controlled by him.

I so hope there is another book to explain the ending and to finish this storyline.. I don't want to give spoilers but anyone that has read this book will understand... The story line was getting a bit annoying and repetitive, the Tristan part of the story was great there was no reason for Beth's "story/problem". If this is the last book I will be a very disappointed fan.

The second part of this new Kissed by An Angel trilogy is upping the stakes of the game and drawing towards a conclusion I am fascinated to discover!

Some spoilers for Evercrossed ahead so be warned.

Ivy is having her whole world turned upside down once again and never in the best of ways.

Her BFF Beth is being possessed by the spirit of Ivy's dead stepbrother Gregory. He is not even a nice ghost...his actions were so heinous that he is now a demon! Beth's cousin Kelsey just had to suggestion a seance to contact the spirit of a recently murdered girl and not know that her cousin was a medium.

Ivy was in another car crash but managed to be brought back to life by her angel boyfriend Tristan and his kiss. Sadly, that is a big Heaven no-no to try and play God, so Tristan is now a fallen angel.

The young man that Ivy knew as "Guy" is actually Tristan in the body of a young man named Luke.

It gets worse because Luke is the suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend and Tristan is also sure that Luke's spirit is gone because he died drowning in the ocean. The kicker to that is both he and Ivy learn from Andy, a nurse at the hospital, that Luke was drugged before going in the water.

Ivy has the love of her life back but now it seems that someone is out to make sure Luke is really dead this time, so Tristan is in danger. Instead of laying low, Tristan knows he must protect Ivy from Gregory as well as try to save Beth from his influence.

Other matters are that Will broke up with Ivy because of her feelings for Luke and the poor guy is worried about Beth acting so strange. Also, Ivy is dealing with attention from the college guys from Chatham while working up on Cape Cod for the summer. Bryan plays endless flirting games to get under Kelsey's skin, Chase is trying to make a connection with Beth and a guy named Max is trying so hard to get the attention of Kelsey's bestie, Dhanya.

Why are boys just so much trouble?

It all comes down to figuring out just what sort of devastating plans are left to test Ivy and Tristan's connection that spans Heaven, Earth and even to the gates of Hell?

The romance in this book made this story so much more interesting. Similar to how Tristan came back to life for Ivy which showed he can’t go even a day without her. Lacy is a ghost that Tristan met when he died. She gave hints to Ivy that Tristan was on earth in a physical body, Luke’s body, the guy that is a suspect for murder. Tristian and Ivy tried to show that he is not guilty of killing Chelsea, Luke’s ex girlfriend, also figuring out who actually killed her. Another problem that Ivy had to solve or avoid was Ivy’s best friend, Beth, who has a demon in her spirit, which is Gregory. He is Ivy’s step brother, who wanted Ivy dead. He was inside Beth because he wanted to try to hurt Ivy by using her best friend but Ivy’s and Beth’s friendship is so much stronger which overcame him. Even though Beth almost killed Ivy. The problems didn’t stop there. Ivy was telling herself how she couldn’t go on if Tristan is dead. Lacy told Ivy that if he is dead, he would lose more than his life. Lacy also told Ivy that Tristan had been hearing voices like the ones that night when Gregory fell from the train bridge. Also that they’ve been haunting him. And if Tristan is still alive, he is out of time.

This book, certainly had many ups and downs, pros and cons. Overall, this book (I had 100% zero idea that this book was about romance) honestly, I don't like romance so this book wasn't the right one for me. It was quite boring during the beginning, and middle. I thought the end was a bit interesting, because Bryan was Luke's murderer, Beth won the fight against Gregory, but then Tristan (in the body of Luke) might of actually died. At the last page of the last chapter, Ivy asked "What voices?" and Lacey(angel) said "like those the night Gregory fell from the train bridge. They've been haunting him. Tonight, even I heard them. If Tristan is alive, he is out of time."

This series gets better and better! I had no idea who the killer would be in this book and I was really surprised at who it was. I can be dence sometimes, so that is not hard to believe lol! Never the less I had no idea that Beth would go to the extremes she did to get Gregory out of her mind. I love Beth and I was so upset that Gregory was doing what he did to her. Ivy gets more and more brave with every experience she goes through with Tristan and Gregory. She really has become one of my favorite book characters. I can't rave about this series enough, just go read it if you have the means and resources to get and of this amazing series.
