A sweet old-fashioned love story that reaffirms your belief in true love. It was refreshing to read about a friendship that slowly grows into love and it renewed my belief that love can happen anywhere and at any time. The characters were well-developed in this easy to read light romance with entertaining and humorous instances, and the details about the Amish were relevant and uncontrived. An inspiring read about letting go of your fears and doubts and putting your trust in God.

Christian Romance is not my normal genre of choice. So, I began reading this book with an open mind, but not overly optimistic mindset. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. A Hope Springs Christmas is the 7th book in the Brides of Amish County series by Patricia Davids. I can say with absolute surety that it doesn’t have to be read within the series as I have never read any of the others and didn’t feel at anytime out of the loop.
Sarah Wyse dreads the Christmas season. She has lost everyone that she loves, including her young husband, this time of the year. In an attempt to keep her mind off of things, get through the holidays and help out a friend she has decided to play matchmaker to her best friend’s brother. It doesn’t matter that Levi hasn’t asked Sarah to do this. She thinks he’s just too shy to have never found a bride and she can help him get past it. If she feels more for Levi than she should when she’s around him she ignores it. After all, she had her love and it was only a short time. She doesn’t believe its god’s will to give her a second chance at love and a family of her own. Plus, it’s too much of a risk. If she professes her love and feelings she is risking his life. Everyone she cares about suffers and she can’t let that happen to Levi.
Levi Beachy has had a crush on Sarah Wyse since they were children. Being too shy as a kid stood in the way and as an adult his respect and love for Sarah’s husband shut it down completely. On his deathbed, Jonas asked Levi to watch over Sarah until she remarried and Levi would do anything for his friend and mentor. Levi has put his hopes and dreams on hold for 5 years, but Sarah shows no sign of ever finding someone else. Levi believes this to be a special kind of torture to watch the woman he has always loved everyday and never be able to tell her how he feels, yet never being able to get away to fulfill his other dreams.
This was such a simple, sweet love story. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters of this small town. Their unbending faith, readiness to help each other and the simple way of life that they shared intrigued and humbled me. I would definitely recommend this book and would love to read more about these wonderful people.

REVIEW: An enjoyable Amish book with a bit of a twist as Sarah and Levi both play matchmaker for the other without knowing that the other is strongly interested in someone but too shy or hesitant to approach. I have read many Amish books and read them heavily when I first discovered Christian fiction, but I have found that most of them follow the same story line which tends to make them less interesting to me. I did like the focus on second chances and that some times good friends can make the best marriage partner.
FAVORITE QUOTES: " i understand fear. I understand regret. It understand that it is hard to trust that God knows best...but to think God wants you to spend your life without love is to say that He doesn't love you."
"Papa why can't we have pretty trees like the Englisch?"... He said that when our Lord and Savior was born, no one decorated a tree for him. No one put fancy lights on the roof of the lowly stable. Jesus came to us quietly, in a plain and simple way. We have no need of glowing lights to remind us of His coming, for His light is bright and strong in each of our hearts. And when Jesus looks down from heaven to see how we are celebrating His birth, He looks for the simple light that shines from inside us, where it counts. All those of us who keep His light in our hearts make a more beautiful display to His eyes than any English tree. " (Thought this was a very interesting explanation of why the Amish focus on plain and simple.)

Quick easy read with adorable characters. Loved Sarah & Levi’s interactions and there was a good amount of drama/things that happened.

What’s not to like about this book! There is drama, humor and a bit of romance too! I am not a big fan of Amish fiction but do occasionally read one. This book was very good at drawing you into the story and keeping you interested. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the characters and thought they were well developed and easy to enjoy! Sarah was likeable and you could not help but cheer for her. The main male character was Levi. He too was enjoyable and you root for him right from the start. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish fiction, Christian fiction, and short easy to read romances.

Amish romances are always sweet and inspiring and this one is no exception. Levi and Sarah love each other and it's clear very early on in the story but Sarah's lost one husband and feels that everyone she loves leaves her mostly through death. Levi is shy and has no confidence when it comes to his love for Sarah. Something has to take hold for them both and it is interesting reading how they come to terms with each other. A lovely holiday story.

A wonderful tender story with great moments of humor.
Levi Beachy lost his parents at age 17, leaving his to raise his six year-old sister and 2 year-0ld twin boys. He dropped out of school, and took a job at the buggy shop. Levi stuttered as a child and was teased by other children, causing him to become quiet and shy. One of the last school pranks was setting him up to kiss Sarah Wyse. She did not expect the kiss, and surprised, she pushed him in the creek. As the children across the creek laughed, he assumed that Sarah was in on the joke.
Sarah Wyse has been a widow for five years. Having lost her parents and husband at Christmas, she has decided that God does not want her to have loved ones in her life. She and her husband were also childless. Sarah's husband owned the buggy shop, and was Levi's best friend. He made Levi promise to watch over Sarah until she remarries.
As Christmas approaches, the fabric shop where Sarah works has closed for the season and may not reopen. Sarah has the rent from the buggy shop to support her, but she needs something to do so Christmas depression doesn't claim her. Levi's sister Grace goes to visit her grandmother for several weeks to give her beau a cooling off period. That made it possible for Sarah to take over Grace's duties at the buggy shop. Also, Grace asked her to do some matchmaking for Levi, because Grace couldn't marry till Levi had a new woman to care for her brothers.
A sweet love story follows as the love awakens between Levi and Sarah, plus the comedy as each tries to match the other to a mate in the community.

Honestly, I have not read much Christian Romance, but I am always open to something new and that was how I approached this book and I was glad I did. It was a perfect clean romance for the holidays.
Sarah Wyse dreads Christmas, as she has lost everyone that she loves during the season through the years including her husband. After the shop that she works at closes for the season, Sarah is stuck at home trying to keep her thoughts occupied and away from the dreaded memories. When Grace her next door neighbor is unable to make up her mind about marriage due to her unmarried brother Levi, Sarah comes up with a plan. After sending her friend away for a couple of days to Grace's grandmother, she spends time helping out Grace's brother Levi Beachy find a wife. Of course Levi was her own late husbands best friend, and a boy that she had embarrassed years ago at school. He doesn't talk much, and has no idea what Sarah is brewing behind his back. After she comes up with a short list of eligible ladies, she finds ways to send them to his buggy shop. When Levi finds out about her doings, he sends the Hope Spring eligible man to Sarah's house.
This book was wonderful and surprising so. I loved Levi and there were times that I felt my heart aching for him. He fancied Sarah for a few years, but she married his best friend instead. He doesn't really know how to talk to women, or other people for that matter and has Sarah help him run the business while Grace is away. Levi also has his own dreams, dreams of leaving Hope Springs and go to the Rocky Mountains. He was absolutely adorable and probably my most favorite character of the story. Poor Levi did not know what was going on, and on top of that he had to deal with the prankster brother's of his. Though I had to admit, one of the pranks that they pulled had me giggling.
Of course Sarah doesn't believe that love and happiness is part of her future, but can Levi mend her broken heart?
A sweet story, beautiful writing, and a wonderful romance. I liked the chemistry between these two, they are friends who came a long way. It was great to be a part of their adventure. I have not read the other books of the series, sadly, but I hope to someday revisit the others that I have missed.

Levi is quiet and shy, but he does have a quick temper when pushed too far. Sarah is a pushy little thing, wanting her way, and quick to step in and speak up to get what she wants. Completely Levi’s opposite. Still, I couldn’t help but care for Levi. Sarah took a bit more time for me, as like the hero I am quiet and shy, and I don’t like it when people try to take over for me and run my life. The story got interesting when Levi and Sarah started trying to match each other up with others. Fun! If you like Amish stories, then you should consider A HOPE SPRINGS CHRISTMAS. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. 3.5 stars $5.75. 224 pages.

I always enjoy the Brides of Amish County series books. This time, A Hope Springs Christmas, introduces us to Sarah Wyse. She is a widow who has lost her job during the Christmas Season. She seems to always have losses during the holiday season. She lost her husband, parents and sister. Sarah believes because she loved them they were taken from her and she refuses to marry again for that reason. Levi lives close to her and has ran her husband's carriage shop since his death. Levi promises her husband he would look after Sarah until she found a husband. Levi's daughter, Grace is Sarah's best friend. She runs to Sarah when she wants to marry her beau but she feels she can't leave Levi (her brother) and their twin brothers who they have cared for since the death of their parents. Sarah tells Grace to go to her grandmother’s house for a visit and she would take care of her brother's while she was gone. Grace asked Sarah to play matchmaker for Levi while she is gone so when she gets back she will be able to leave Levi and the twins so she can get married. Will spending more time help Levi and Sarah to overcome their fears and realize that they love each other? You'll have to read A Hope Springs Christmas to find out.

Sarah is busy making a list of things she can do so she does not dwell too much on the past. Her neighbor Grace comes over to talk after a fight with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend wants to marry her but Grace is worried about her brothers getting along without her.
Grace decides to go away and spend time at her grandparents the next morning. She tells her brother that Sarah will help out while she is gone. Grace also asked Sarah to help her big brother find a wife. If he marrys she can get married.
Levi Beachy is very shy he hardly talks to people, He thinks people are always laughing at him. Is best friend was Sarah's husband Jonas. Levi made a promise to watch over his wife for him. Levi has waited years for her to remarry before leaving to move out west. He has raised his sister Grace and his twin brothers since they were little after his parents died. The twins are wild and get into trouble a lot.
Sarah tries to match make for Levi but it is hard when he won't talk to anyone. She keeps making excuses to bring women around his shop.
When Levi figures out she has been match making for him he decides that two can play that game and lets a lot of men know that Sarah is willing now to date.
Thier is a lot of laughter, some sad times and good times before things come to the end. Thier is some drama and practacal jokes that go too far. It is a nice Christmas story in all.
This is the seventh book in the Brides of Amish Country series by Patricia Davis. It is a clean read.

I really enjoyed another Love Inspired book from Harlequin by Patricia Davids! I love how Ms. Davids builds such strong characters quickly in these books which are rather short, about 225 pages. In reading the letter to readers at the end, this is her 7th book in the series of Brides of Amish Country. I need to see which ones I have missed and get caught up!

A Hope Springs Christmas is the the seventh book in the Brides of Amish County series. But works very well as a stand alone. Which is what it was for me.
Sarah is a widow, and doesn't think she will ever find love again, in fact she doesn't want to. She's afraid to love again, afraid because to here it seems that everyone she loves is taken away from her too soon.
Levi, a bachelor, to some believe he is destined to be an 'old boy'. Lives and works across the way from Sarah, renting out the place for a buggy business. He's always dreamed of leaving Hope Springs to go Colorado, but because of his promise to Jonas, Sarah late husband and his best friend he stays to make sure she is well looked after until she remarries.

I found this to be a very delightful story. I find the fact that Sarah is trying to find a wife for Levi to be quite touching. Sarah is trying to help out her friend Grace, because Grace doesn't want to get married and leave her brothers to fend for themselves. Grace wants her eldest brother to have a wife to take care of him and her other brothers. Who need a stern hand themselves to help them grow up. Sarah and Levi are both hurting emotionally and while Levi has always had a crush on Sarah, Sarah just sees him as her late husbands best friend and her friends brother. The path that these two take is not necessarily easy but it is fun to see the ups and downs as they start to really fall for each other. If you like romance stories with good characters who really are good people, who fall in love with one another with out falling into bed with one another then this is a great story for you.

Lovely story about Sarah and Levi. Sarah is a widow who lives on her own. The community wants and expects her to remarry. Levi dreams about moving to a new community in Colorado, but is bound by his family responsibilities at home -- particularly the raising of his younger twin brothers. When his sister goes away to think over her relationship with her beau, Levi needs help corraling his brothers. Sarah steps in to help.
The twins drove me nuts with their antics, which usually had a malicious bent to them, all in the name of fun. Levi was a love, and Sarah was obviously his match. When Mary asked Sarah to help her find Levi a wife...well, that's when the real fun begins! A really sweet book -- one of my favorites by Ms Davids.

A Hope Spring’s Christmas by Patricia Davis introduces us to Sarah Wyse. She is a widow who has also lost others that she love. Her job that kept her going through all of this loss is also taken away from her.
Levi Beachy is raising his younger twin brothers. He also works at the shop that Sarah’s husband owned. For many years he has been secretly been in love with Sarah.
Will Sarah realize before it is too late that there are people around her that love her and will accept her? This was a wonderful romance with so much chemistry between the main characters. I have not read any of the other in this series but I will go back and read them now. If you enjoy reading a light romance story this is the one for you.

Enjoyable Read!
I loved this book. While I knew what would happen in the end, it still was a delightful read to me.
Levi Beachy can’t remember a time when he didn’t love Sarah Wyse. He knew her heart belonged to another. Levi had plans to move out of the area but because of a promise he made to Sarah’s husband he wasn’t able to move away.
Is there happiness to be found for Sarah and Levi? Will Sarah found a suitable wife for Levi? Will Sarah open her heart to love?
I have read several other books from author Patricia Davids and have loved them all. I hope if you haven’t picked up one of her books you will do so.

Love a good second-chance-at-love read.
And the author delivers on all three in this book.
There is Sarah who loved her first husband deeply. So deeply that she has not married within a year or so after his death. Then there is Levi, Sarah’s husband’s best friend who made a promise to that friend shortly before his death.
The story could have taken place at any time during the year but having the setting be at Christmas adds a piquancy which only adds to the story. An easy, enjoyable read.

I’ve read all the books in THE BRIDES OF AMISH COUNTRY and I have loved each book. I love the characters, their humanity, their forgiveness, their love for God and each other. Taking care of our community is so right. This series inspired me to help at my own church with our Care Ministry . In my real modern day life, when tragedy strikes we need to support our neighbors, etc. in my case it is with a family at our church that just needs a little extra help at a very difficult time. I hope these stories inspire others as they have me.

Inspirational clean romance. "Fractured" family facing trials & tribulations- parents died & eldest left to raise siblings (and all the pranks involved). Neighbor dealing with her own loss. Heartwarming. Characters meshed well together. Fast paced story, I completed this in one sitting. Looking forward to reading more of the Brides of Amish Country series. Recommended.

I enjoyed this story of an amish widow and her neighbor who is a bachelor raising his troublesome brothers and a sister. The widow conspires with the sister to find a husband for the bachelor. The whole thing backfires on the widow. Very entertaining!

I hate the words 'nice' and 'sweet'. When people say a book is 'nice' or 'sweet', it pretty much means 'banal' and that the person saying it is either trying to be 'nice' or 'sweet', or doesn't have much upstairs and thinks EVERYTHING is 'nice' or 'sweet'. I like honesty, and 'nice' and 'sweet' don't seem honest, half the time.
Having said...? When I sat down to review this, the words 'nice' and 'sweet' came to mind... evoking a deep sigh. Because I wanted it to be better than 'nice' and 'sweet'. And don't get me wrong - I liked the book. Overall. But there wasn't anything about it that was endearing or special. In fact, there was something nigglingly wrong.
Sarah's a widow. Her husband was Levi's mentor and best friend. Both she and Levi have known each other since childhood, and Levi always carried a bit of a torch for her. He promised to watch over her for his friend, when the man died. But he's too self-effacing and shy to step out and tell her he's attracted.
Sarah lost her job, and through a snowballing of events, she ends up working in her husband's shop with Levi (who now runs it). She finds herself thinking he needs a good wife. She decides to find him one... and when he finds out what she's up to, he's hurt enough to...
... NO.
I'm sorry, but that's NOT in Levi's character, to go down to the diner and invite the local single Amish guys to stop in and try their hand at winning Sarah. He's *SHY*. He doesn't see himself as someone who others value or care about. He would NEVER do that. I think that's what's bothering me. That his very character was tampered with.
And not just once, either. Davids has him waxing eloquent like mad at the end of the book, and this is a man of very few words. He wouldn't be a gushing fount of love words. I know this - KNOW THIS - because I'm married to a man of few words who self-effaces, and can't talk to others. He would NEVER do these things, and he has NEVER waxes eloquent in my direction. It's not his character, not in his nature.
It was a nice story, but it *bothered* me. It was sweet, but I couldn't get beyond that. When I started this review, I didn't know why I wasn't thinking it was a *good* story, just that it... wasn't. Now I know why.

Peach Pies, finding new love 💘.
This is the first book I've read by author Patricia Davids, I like her style of writing, she jumps right into the story and holds your attention throughout the story. Her characters come alive thur her use of words, she makes them believable and you find yourself dealing with many emotions while reading. I enjoyed this story and feel like I knew her characters like they were my neighbors. I will read more of this authors books. I encourage you to try one of her books too.

Amish widow Sarah is happy to help her friend's brother find a possible mate. Levi was a hard worker and best friend of her husband, but he was extremely quiet. How they find love by overcoming trials and challenges makes this book interesting.
