The Just One Night has been an erotic trilogy of another type.
Nothing about this book felt tired or already done. It has been a journey through the struggle for power, who has it, who wants it and whether it kills something inside us when we get it, especially if you abuse it. I have really loved every minute of it.

This last instalment really took us there, definitely took me out of my comfort zone a few times and not in the usual way that an erotic book could. No, this time it was the personalities of certain people and their journey to find themselves that sometimes had me shuddering. The ruthlessness of Robert and his expectations of Kasie. In fact the first half of the book was incredibly hard to take because of the paths certain characters took, I was unsure they would be redeemable.

Kasie went from a control of one fiancé to a control of a different and more intoxicating kind with Robert Dade. I could see why she would be, he is a very alluring and powerful character... but even he has his secrets.

I really do beg you give this trilogy a chance I can guarantee you that it isn't what you expect it to be. I think Kyra Davis deserves a big pat on the back for being able to shock and excite me in a very flooded market at the moment. Well done, I will definitely be keeping my eye out for this author.

We are not Romeo and Juliet. We are Caesar and Cleopatra. We’re Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, Pierre and Marie Curie. Our coupling has consequences, people’s lives will be changed. . .
.

This has been an excellent erotic trilogy – a little darker and a quite a little different from the rest. It’s definitely not a Fifty Shades style romance – it’s edgier, more thought provoking and far more about the power play than the romance. Having said that, it does have a highly satisfying ending with Robert Dade and Kasie Fitzgerald having moved on significantly from the two people we first met way back in the opening scenes of The Stranger. They’ve evolved, learnt from their mistakes and, most importantly, learnt from each other but it’s a dark and rocky angst-ridden road to get there, one that held me rapt from beginning to end.

We pick up exactly where we left off in Exposed. Mr Dade and Kasie now hold all the power – Kasie has pretty much all she could have hoped for professionally. She has a promotion and a new office but she’s lost the respect of her colleagues and superiors now that everyone believes she got where she is today by sleeping her way to the top. She’s become intoxicated by Robert’s ability to influence those around him and his power and is slowly losing herself, succumbing to his influence both professionally and personally as he continues to dominate their sex lives.

“I want you,” I say quietly. “Every part of you. Your generosity, your savagery, your romance and your pragmatism, even your ruthless ambition.”

“Even my ruthless ambition?”

“Especially your ruthless ambition.” I laugh.

Robert Dade is like the moon and Kasie the ocean. He influences her tides but she has yet to realise the enormous and destructive power she herself now possesses and Robert is trying to show her the way. While she’s escaped one man, her former fiancé Dave, who attempted to manipulate her into exactly the kind of woman he and her parents thought she should be, has she now just exchanged that for another form of control? Is Robert Dade now trying to redesign her into a ruthless woman to his own specifications?

It’s a constant battle of wills as Kasie rides the high of all the power and slips further into sexual submission. Robert Dade is brutal and yet somehow achingly tender – he shines like a supernova, blinding Kasie to the truth, never truly allowing her to see his true self. This is an enticing mix of tender romance, brutal passion and increasingly delicious D/s play. There’s a scene involving body shots that was just so exquisitely erotic, I read it more than once! Ultimately, both Mr Dade and Kasie are forced to take a long look at their actions, the motivations behind them, their intense need for one another and then try to justify them, atone for them and work out a way forward, together or separately. Fascinating stuff!

4 Strong Stars...A Happy Ending (and a BIG sigh of Relief)

“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but - I hope - into a better shape.”
Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

Kasie has everything. Everything! Money, career, fiancé, and the business savvy to climb the corporate ladder. It becomes apparent how safe and posh her world is. Fear, expectations, and the need for approval shaped her. Her trip to Vegas leads to a onenight stand with a stranger (Robert Dade) leading her to walk a damning path to self-discovery. (No, this is not chick lit.) She begins an illicit affair. Lives are destroyed. Robert, her lover, abuses his power. He doesn’t remove obstacles; he pulverizes them then nonchalantly continues his business. Is he a monster? How can he be the hero? Robert is mesmerizing!

The road this controversial heroine– from a cheating fiancé escaping her gilded cage into a powerful corporate shark - traveled provocatively exposed her complex nature. Some readers found it absorbing. Other readers judged Kasie’s behavior inexcusable. Kyra Davis does not brush Kasie’s choices under a rug. Neither does she try to excuse her behavior by demonizing the victims.

Finally, the story is complete and the worrisome question of how Kasie Fitzgerald will earn a happy ending is answered. It felt convincing and unrushed. The authenticity to Kasie’s struggle and transformation is maintained since it began in The Stranger. The storyline continues with themes of power, debauchery, and morality making one question how this romance could possibly end well; yet end well - incredibly and believably - it does.

Binding Agreement flows smoothly toward Kasie’s resolution. Kasie fantasizes. Her boundaries expand. She crosses lines. (I was biting my nails!) Her story is erotic not merely because of the sex. It’s because she’s a woman buried alive, tearing her way out of a prison. As mentioned, the Just One Night trilogy ends well. Kasie proves herself worthy of happiness. How she does it is what makes this book worth reading.

The conclusion of the Just one Night Trilogy......

A lot has happened for Kasie the past two books. She's climbed the ranks in her company (albeit not entirely ethically). She finds the power, the fear factor of those who report to her even more empowering. All this is thanks to the king of corporate bully-ism Robert Dade. I was seriously like...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I mean seriously....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

But when she finds out some of the things Robert has done to people around her to "assist" her along the way, thereby ruining their careers and lives, she rethinks the draw to succeed like this. This is not the way she was brought up. Is success worth leaving a trail of bloodshed in its wake? Surely not. So she makes some big decisions both career wise and pertaining to her relationship with Robert. She's got to get back in control of her life and in a GOOD way.

Good job...finally you've seen the light!

This book was my least favorite of the series but still very readable. It had a lot less heat and seduction and a lot more corporate "stuff." I wasn't crazy about the character Kasie in the first two books....she cheats on her boyfriend, rises in her company is less than ethical means.....etc. But this book she turns a new leaf and I see good things for her (and Robert). My only wish is that we would've gotten an epilogue. Something to give us an idea of what happens a few months or year down the road. I've grown quite fond of epilogues and not having them just seems abrupt in the end.

But all in all an enjoyable series. Each book very short. Essentially the three combined could equal one good sized book. So of you're looking for a fair amount of heat, decent angst, really good writing, and are not put off by cheating and corporate scheming, this series is for you!

This was a huge disappointment !! I nearly gave up half way through. It was so different from the previous books !

I did not like the characters. Kasie was really annoying and her inner monologues were ludicrous. I felt like screaming, ‘Please shut up’ !

I have no idea what happened to Robert. He was behaving so out of character. Him sharing her with other men/women, laying her on a bar table, allowing others to watch and touch her while he was f***ing her. I know it’s a spoiler, but honestly it has nothing to do with the plot, it doesn’t spoil the read, but definitely shows how ridiculous this story became. I really did not like that bar scene, it was totally out of place and unnecessary.

All this power talk was quite disturbing for me:

"The people who would mock you or try to make your life harder? They’ll bow before us."

"You should never be ashamed to show yourself. By the time we’re done no one will ever have the courage to question your audacity. They’ll admire it."

"I want to be inside the power that I’ve helped grant. I want to make you come, I want to see you command the world and tremble at my touch."

I kept asking myself, “Is everything ok with him ?” Because that doesn’t sound healthy.

The ending was ok. At least for a moment characters were bearable and likeable.

Such a disappointment.

As posted on http://jessysbookclub.wordpress.com/

I couldn’t envision a better ending if I tried! These books are definitely different than anything else I’ve read in this genre; exploring the art of war, control, dominance… and in the end, an unconventional love story.

Part 3 picks up right where part 2 left off. Kasie craves Robert, but she’s unsure as to whether she can or wants to handle his controlling ways. She feels as if she’s jumped from one type of control (Dave’s) to another (Robert’s). But while things are unclear to her, Robert knows exactly what he wants, Kasie, and he doesn’t intend on letting her go. But is he ready to change his ways for her? Is Robert still the stranger she met in Vegas? Can she handle the control and power he wields?

I absolutely loved it! It made all the glimpses and nuances we got from the other installments make sense. As it should of course, but I just did not know what to expect with this series. I was a bit worried the author would take us to another different direction and I wasn’t sure I could handle it! Luckily I was left completely sated

While I absolutely loved the love story and the unexpected directions it took, what pulled me in was Kasie’s story; a woman in the corporate world. With insecurities and self doubt… but with an inner strength dying to get out. As a woman in a man’s profession, I understood and identified with Kasie. It actually reminds me of my favorite part in my favorite Bond movie…

James Bond: Your beauty is a problem, you worry that you won’t be taken seriously (at work)

Vesper Lynd: Which one can say about any woman with half a brain…

A very fitting description in more ways than one. Robert is definitely the James Bond to Kasie’s Vesper Lynd.

“He has a savage sophistication. He’s Daniel Craig’s James Bond; a young, sexy Gordon Gekko.”

And just like Vesper, Kasie dresses conservatively in a bid to be taken more seriously at work. But her bid fails when it’s discovered that she slept with Robert, her client. But while the office knows, they also know how much power Robert holds in the business world. He’s ready to defend Kasie, even if Kasie doesn’t want it. Which leads to the most intense kind of power play. Is Kasie ready to cede control to Robert?

We get to know all about Robert, things that weren’t divulged in the previous installments. We find out why he seeks to empower Kasie while still seeking to dominate her.

I want you to relish in the pleasure of both authority and submission on a daily basis.

A heady mix and all hers for the taking… if she wants it. But does she want it? What does it mean to be with Robert?

“Us?” We are not Romeo and Juliet. We are Caeser and Cleopatra. We’re Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, Pierre and Marie Curie. Our coupling has consequences, people’s lives will be changed…

I absolutely loved this book, this series! It took me to unexpected places. I thought I had Part 1 figured out, it shocked me. I thought I knew what to expect from Part 2, it changed directions. I wondered what would happen in Part 3… only to get much more angst than I expected, much more sweetness and a completeness that had me sighing and swooning.

5 stars! Not just for the book, but the series as a whole!

Finally I’d like to thank Simon&Schuster and Edelweiss for providing this ARC for my review.

More fixating on what other people think about her & her reputation amongst her colleagues. She's insecure & questioning herself one minute then the next she's hitting me with thoughts like this: "His desire doesn’t stem from what he knows about my relationships. It stems from my power. I’m a force." What the what what?!?!?! Make.Up.Your.Mind! Pretty please with sugar on top? Just pick something a stick with it! Is that too much to ask? I swear Kasie can go from a power hungry narcissist to a withering flower that needs constant reassurance of her worth in the blink of an eye. I don’t think I’ve ever been subjected to a protagonist who second guesses herself this much. Vain & petty to simpering & weak all within the span of a single meeting? God help me, I might have gotten a little whiplash. And all that coupled with angst filled prognostications, existential musings & mundane details on tree leaves falling… If I had to read about how he’s the moon & she’s his ocean one more time… And what's the deal with describing every single outfit, not just hers mind you pretty much everyone's? Jesus… Does anyone have something sharp they can drag across my jugular?

As if all of that's not enough torture, then it just continues to spiral into talk of power, power, power & all its forms, how they have it, how they use it, how they wield it to bend others to their will… ridiculous. It’s far too concentrated on business machinations & power politics than it is on the relationship of the protagonists. I think the most galling & offensive part for me was the mockery it makes of submission. Ms. Davis keeps calling Kasie a submissive, she submits to others, particularly Robert, but she makes her sound like a feeble minded imbecile in the process due to her “submission”. It wreaks of derision regarding D/s in general but specifically submission. Kasie far more closely resembles as a person who has absolutely no idea who she is thereby making her malleable to others whims & desires rather than a submissive who has actively chosen to submit to another. In the end, I wound up not liking either one of them. They’re both shallow, petty & vindictive cowards who have sex that's boring & lame & virtually identical every time. Paint by numbers sex! To be fair, the location changes & at one point there’s even an audience complete with foreplay that included body shots… how very retro.

Oh & p.s., I honestly don't know if Ms. Davis is attempting to Jedi mind trick her readers but Kasie's team starts out in The Stranger with three women, Asha, Taci & Nina, & one man, Daemon, but somehow in this installment Nina transforms into Nin & is a man? Uhhh… was there a sex change operation that just conveniently didn't get mentioned? That might've been a more interesting story line that this travesty. Such a sad turn of events for a series that begun with such promise.

I was given the opportunity to receive an ARC of Just One Night:Binding Agreement from Edelweiss/Above The Treeline in exchange for an honest review.

I've read the first 2 books in the series and couldn't wait to read the third book, as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Robert Dade! Kyra Davis didn't disappoint in this book and in all honestly, this is my favorite book in the entire series!

"If a Woman truly wants something, whether its having her man bite into an apple, bringing a divinely appointed superhero to his knees, or a Baptist's head on a silver platter, she can have it. A Woman can have anything if she knows how to use what God gave her."- Asha to Kasie.

In Binding Agreement, we pick up right where we left off from Book 2 in Robert and Kasie's story. Literally, right where we left off... The sex is far more explosive in this book and dare I say that Robert's determination is revealed as pure viciousness as he sets out to carve a path for him and Kasie to rule.

I feel like this book opened us up to Kasie's potential and showed how Robert was trying to groom her to become an unstoppable powerhouse. We get to see a different side of both Characters and quite frankly, Robert's ruthlessness was nothing short of a turn on! He took what he wanted and at anyones expense and even convinced Kasie that living in that manner was best for her as well.

"I know they want to touch me again. The singer looks as if she wants to touch Robert. But they're not allowed. We've made fear our lover, power our foundation.... and we make all the rules." <----- This was the ending paragraph in Chapter 7 and by far one of the hottest scenes took place in this chapter.

This book was a non-stop read for me once I was able to take the time to read it and I only needed a few uninterrupted hours to complete it. I was happy with how the book ended, though, I will definitely miss Robert Dade!

This book gets5 stars from me!

You should sleep with a stranger"
That's what starts this whirlwind love affair . Overall this trilogy is steaming hot! However I was a little more than disinterested in reliving Kaisie's vivid daydream-sexual fantasies. The real life encounters with Robert surpassed her fantasies anyway.
My casting for Robert Dade: As soon as the author described him as handsome and dark with salt & pepper hair, I immediately pictured the beautiful George Clooney....
description

Kasie Fitzgerald:

description

I really had a hard time believing Robert Dade the alpha-male he was, would EVER be alright with strangers watching his Kasie intimately, let alone touch her. Also, I couldn't believe that a Harvard educated intelligent woman would ever allow herself to be humiliated the way her ex-fiancé Dave did by forcing her to dress up and serve him in front of her boss.
I love how Kasie finally stood on her own and took control of her life. That was the most believable aspect of the story. The story addresses power and how easily it corrupts. It addresses mental illness and the effects it has on families. Kasie ultimatly learns a lot about herself by almost losing it all. She embraces her faults and brings to light the real Robert Dade in the process by forcing him to face his own personal demons. He is her moon, and she is his ocean.

“He’s no longer a stranger. He’s my moon.”

Power Play , that’s what this book was all about. This is the final book in the Just One Night Series and it sucks that I really struggled with this one. I went in with a certain expectation and it turned out so different. The first two got me hooked, so I was looking forward to seeing this other side of Robert, it wasn’t even him who bothered me, it was Kasie. She couldn’t sleep in the bed she made, and couldn’t accept the life Robert could give her. I’m not saying that Robert was a choir boy, but the man had power and he was not afraid to use it.
"I want to be inside the power that I’ve helped grant. I want to make you come, I want to see you command the world and tremble at my touch. I want to fuck you right here, and in my office, in yours; I want you to relish in the pleasure of both authority and submission on a daily basis."

It was just okay for me and I truly hope it works out better for you!

I have to admit that I found the beginning of this book disturbing. Kasie was so caught up in the world of power that Robert Dade had created that she didn’t care who she hurt. I guess you could say she was seduced by the power...making her and the other characters in this story very unlikeable, including Mr. Dade. Now, I have to say even though I had those issues with this story, I was still glued to the pages wishing a light at the end of the tunnel...and what do you know Kyra Davis gave us one. With insurmountable power plays she found a way to redeem our characters and bring the story full circle... Yes, it shocked the heck out of me and even though I didn’t like the direction/life paths that the characters chose this plot sucked me in.

Can you tell I struggled with my review of this book...
In the end, Binding Agreement was a riveting addition to the Just One Night series. Although it took me out of my comfort zone and I didn’t think the ending I was hoping for would even be a possibility, Davis pulled it off. I have to give 4 ½ stars for Kyra Davis’s ability to write dislikable characters that still had me rooting for a happily ever after ending.

This ARC copy of Binding Agreement was given to me by Pocket Star in exchange for an honest review. This book is set for publication May 20, 2013.

"Binding Agreement" is the last of Kyra Davis's trilogy of novellas, which composes the novel "Just One Night." I'm choosing to review each of the parts individually rather than the collective novel because each has its own separate arc, and I want to give attention to them as they were originally written before their compilation.

The title to this particular part of the series is appropriate considering this is not so much a romance as it is a contract, a lust, a pursuit of power. And honestly, I was impressed that the story managed to tie up details as well as it did in this part because it easily could've fell apart for what it pushed toward.

Here's my take on this story and I know I might be the only person who feels this way about this series. I thought this was an excellent rounding out to the series progressively. Kasie starts off as a woman who strays into the arms of a stranger in Part I. She's an independent woman who knows what she wants (or thinks she knows what she wants), but doesn't give herself a chance to explore until that night she ends up meeting Robert Dade. She realizes that the life she'd thought she'd made for herself in its appeared perfections is not what she expected. The whirlwind affair ends up coming to a head when Dave finds out. Part II is the struggle in which Kasie has to leave that relationship and enter another with Robert. But as the pursuit goes, she ends up leaving one controlling relationship, straight into the arms of another.

The third part in this series is ultimately about a corruption of security, power, and domination, and Kasie has to come to terms with what those struggles mean, and ultimately step out of power plays to find what she wants. This text, I will say, is indulgent, it is self-serving, it is heavily flawed, but damned if it doesn't do an excellent job of showcasing where the flaws are and ultimately showing that security within power displays is not all that it's cracked up to be.

In this part, Kasie believes that she's on the top of the world. Robert's firmly hers, she's taken a top position in her company (though at the expense of anothers - Tom, while helping her to break her relationship with Dave, gets ousted from the company and Kasie takes his vacant position). But the power isn't so much in Kasie's hands as it is in Robert's. Robert's pronounced dominance in both Kasie's professional and sexual life comes to a full circle in this book. It's like watching a sexual and corporate power struggle akin to the story of Death Note. Only there isn't anything working against Kasie, except her own conscience.

Kasie is pretty self-aware of the backlash, but it's only when she starts feeling guilt about it and questioning Robert's motivations that she starts realizing the problems surrounding her - what with her position and how she's coming to take possession of such power. In the end, this affects her relationship with her parents, friends, co-workers, pretty much everyone. She has to put her foot down and say "Enough is enough, I do not want this, not like this." And the first thing she has to do is to say "no" to Robert.

That...takes a lot longer than what the length of the narrative provides, and I almost wish she'd given the verbal kick to Robert's bum sooner. If I can admit one fault to "Binding Agreement" - it spends too much time on the speculation of these details and I wanted to say, even for its short length: "Get to it." I understood what it was trying to do and where it wanted to go, but it could've been a little better in the transition getting there. Still, I have to applaud Davis for having an eye to the matter and for keeping my attention and rounding out the story with all the build up it's had thus far.

In the end, there's a bit of a reconnect that leaves the ending open for more development with Robert and Kasie, but not in a way where I thought it was unsatisfying, because they're both having to pick up pieces of all the events that have transpired. Heck, even after everything Dave did in the last installment, he's back here briefly for a closure upon his story and his role in the measure of things.

It's worth saying that every single bit of the characters in this overarching tale is flawed, self-serving, and caught up in the power plays of sex, position, and entitlement, but the way that it was handled and given an eye in respects had me intrigued from point one to the end, even when I didn't like the characters or their assertions in spurts. I haven't read any of Kyra Davis's other works, but this does make me want to see more of what the author has to offer in future pursuits.

Overall score: 3.5/5 stars

IS IT OVER?

DO I HAVE A CHANCE OF MOVING ON?

CAN I IF I TRIED?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*** 5 SPECTACTULAR STARS!!!! ***

It's over. It is really over**sigh**. The last book in this incredibly wonderful and addictive series is over! WHY??!! calm down, calm the hell down!!

I loved this. If I haven't already made it clear: I LOVED THIS! The ending to this fantastical series was everything I wanted and more! We literally pick up from where Exposed left off. Kasie is confused. She has her dream career right in front of her. She has Robert effin Dade! Ain't that enough??!!

But things are not so simple. Robert lives his life with no consequence. His brutal and vicious attitude to business leaves Kasie struggling with her own morality and sense of self. Can she succumb to his ways? Can she live with herself?

There were many instances where Robert was unrelenting and cruel. He disposes of people as one would a dirty napkin and it was disturbing. Kasie sees this and eventually needs to decide if that's the way she imagines living her life.

The twists and turns in this installment left me reeling! I couldn't predict what was going to happen. Ruthless takeovers, shrewed business transactions, vindictive co-workers....gheesh! did I mention pulse-pounding, earth-shattering SEX??!! Well!

There was a body shot scene that left my mouth hanging open and my eyes bugging out of my head! It was HOT, HOT, HOT!!! My God!!! Robert Dade is exquisite. He is power and presence rolled up into a devilishly SEXY-AS-HELL package. The man brought me to my knees. Yes he did.

What I loved so much was that Kasie and to an extent Robert, finally faced their fears. Kasie aknowledged her painful past and confronted her parents. She also decided to take a good look at herself and what she truly wanted.

Robert had to face his own insecurities and right some of his wrongs. I felt that both characters needed these turning points before moving forward. And thank goodness!

I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion to this series! I LOVED Robert and Kasie together and only regret not having to share their story anymore**sniff, sniff**.

ABSOLUTELY.WITHOUT.A.DOUBT...........LOVED THIS.SO MUCH!

5/29/13: Okay so at first I gave the book 2 stars. Thought about and took back a star. I never want to give a book 1 star. But I was just not happy with this book. It was like being told you are goin to Disney World only to find out that you were lied to and u ended up in your relatives backyard with Mickey Mouse decorations...A complete let down!

I’m so confused on what I just read what just happened here. I was really looking forwarded to this book release was beyond excited. And then I read the book and was just beyond disappointment. I’m not really sure what the book was about. I believe that it was her job and how she would perform and the power that she may or may not have. Oh and she has a relationship with a man that is beyond controlling (but I did like him!). This 3rd installment was not good at all I would have waited for a better 3rd book if that meant that it was going to be a really good final book. There were just some things that I was just not happy with

1: The sex scene in the bar just felt odd and wrong on so many levels. The way that it was written in the book it was just thrown in there didn’t make any sense whats so ever and it was creepy.

2: She gets a backbone when she talks to her boss but she can never really seem to get it when she talks to Asha. I mean she should had been able to tell that heifer where to go and how to get there sense all of sudden she feels the power.

3: Whatever happened to Tom? Book talks about him sorta but you never hear from the character again.

4: Dave is still a bitter asshole. Once again she lets him talk to her any old kind a way. I mean WTF she never really gets to tell him off and that I pissed me off.

5: Was not a fan of the so-called hea that we got. It really didn’t close the book. Did they get married? How is her business doing? Did Asha ever move up the corp ladder? Does Dan ever move on and find a happy place to go?

Just a couple of things that I was not happy with on the third installment. Like I said I really enjoyed the first 2 books but the 3rd book just wasn’t good at all.

Uhg, i was wonderfully exhausted after these 3 books (read all in one day...i have no life)
As i said in the prev. Reviews the blunt truth laid out in the narration is my favorite part of these books.
We all have these certain thoughts we deny, mask or even lie to ourselves about but i haven't seen that laid out in a narration very much, loved.

I was obviously rooting for a happy ending but so many things were still iffy about Kacie and Roberts 'relationship'... the what-ifs, and Kacie being strong and admirable still threw me for a loop sometimes. I don't think anything was very predictable which was refreshing.
It has been a long time since i took out a notebook and jotted down points to expand on philosophically and psychologically later on. There were many in this book with the blunt truths in the narration. I had silent tears for Kacie at a few points that rarely happens anymore.
Maybe it was my relation to her breakup or maybe i was just in a mood..(it's been raining non-stop for over a week here)but i really connected to the writing in this book and the points that were made...it will stay with me for quite a while i think.

Unlike the other books, this felt contrived. "Okay, time to introduce something terribly naughty." "Whoops. We haven't had an interaction with Asha lately, better put an awkward one here." Meh.

I liked the other two because they were naughty and powerful. This one tries to do the same thing again, but isn't as successful. Okay, the issues between Kasie and Dave are sort of resolved, but there are so many other things out there left unaddressed. It was essential that Kasie resolve her issues with Asha and they weren't. I *was* appreciative of the renewal of Kasie's relationship with Simone. Women grossly underestimate the importance of those kinds of relationships.

I was left feeling like, "Hey, we promised the readers that this book would be out by May 20. Finish it up."

I am really struggling to know what to say about this book.
I loved books 1 and 2 but I really struggled with this and nearly gave up half way through.
The style of writing seemed to be different and I struggled with that. Also Kasie has some F/F action. I am not a prude but girl on girl does nothing for me and found the parts when Robert and her were in the bar quite difficult to read.
Although a HEA ending, it seems rushed and very contrived. Its sad because for me this could have been a great series but it was spoilt by this last book.

5 Stars!!!

I LOVED this trilogy!

Three books which tell the story of Kacie, a woman who is controlled her entire life, drowning in the expectations of others and never able to grab hold of anything solid.

She goes from living under the shadow of the shameful past of her deceased sister, trying to please her parents, be the good girl who makes good decisions to a controlling man who tries to fit cloth her in his ideal, a Stepford wife, a paragon of purity and conformity. And then to a hurricane of a man, who lights up her life and pushes her to rise in power and the control of her career...only he is her puppet master. She is sinking, she has become what others want her to be and she is sinking. But Kacie fights the current and finally is able to wake up, walk away from everything and surge to the surface of that water to take her first breaths of independence.

She is a cheat, insensitive, self involved...but it is necessary to the plot. This is about a girl who never feels self empowered to do anything...she is controlled (and not in a good way) by first her sister's death and her parents who wish her to be the opposite of her sister and then by a boyfriend who tries to mold her into something she is not. He is actually kinda mean to her.

Her infidelity to her boyfriend starts as a one time fling before she becomes engages to live a part of her life she has let die by being with this man. She knows she does not love him or want him but she is driven to please him and her parents and everyone else who thinks it is the best decision to tie herself to this man who directs all aspects of her life to suite his needs and lifestyle. But once she tastes what she is missing, she finds it harder and harder to accept her fate. Robert is the moon to her ocean and we all know the tides are controlled by the moon. She has an instant connection to this man and although she does not intend to continue an affair...she is unable to stop.

Her parents drive her to be the opposite of her sister, a young girl who turned to drugs and promiscuity before dying. Kacie's mom tells her she is proud of her....because of the choices she makes. Dave her fiance, tries to force her to live a vanilla, quiet, life. To him she doesn't have any wild impulses...those are to be hidden away, ignored. She needs to fit into a mold. Robert is the exact opposite...he wants her to be free but directs every move she makes as she set's herself free and she only ends up drifting into his control. He is living a plastic life himself, not in touch with his real self and pulls Kacie right along with him.

Dave, her fiance, finds out about Robert and Kacie when a vindictive co-worker alerts him. He uses bribery to hold her to him...he will tell her employer, he will tell her parents, he will tell the whole world that she "f&cked a client for business." She will lose everything that matters in life if she doesn't accept what Dave wants of her and conforms. Maybe someday he will forgive her. In the meantime, he treats her like trash, humiliating her at every turn. Robert finds out and get's involved...oh you can see the mess here. The world does explode and Robert is there...her rock. But she is not free. Robert pushes her to live a life of ruthless strength. Using her new found power to control everyone...to do what she wants.

Kacie is not really happy down inside.

"....I realize that for once in my life I don't have to live in the extremes. I don't have to make fear my lover but I don't have to run from it either. If I can just face it, a little at a time, finding that elusive middle ground...that place where you set some of the rules but not others...then maybe I'll be okay."

But in order to save herself she needs to walk away from everything, the job, come clean with her parents, and even Robert...she loves him but he won't allow his facade to crack and the real man come out. It is all about power and control. This is her time to start to fly solo. Be the person only she knows...the part that is not fighting for control, pushing people away or trying to be something she is not.

"Robert, you've been running your entire life. So have I. The only difference is that I've been running from my sister's mistakes and you've been running from the mistakes of your parents. We've worked so hard not to be them that we've forgotten how to be ourselves."
"No, I saved you...I set you free."
"No, you just got me running in a different direction."

Over the next several weeks and months she works at just that. She starts a business of her own, mending some fences building up relationships with friends.
"The mistakes I've made have not led me to the ultimate rejection. I have not been erased...."

But trying to come to terms with losing Robert is the most difficult as she looks over her life and how she is changing. Her friend Simone gives her some good advise:
"All men are rabbits," she retorts, her eyes flying open. "They sniff around, f&ck whatever's available, and then they run off. F&cking rabbits. And we're Elmer Fudd, inadvertently blowing up our own lives while obsessively trying to hunt one down."

Months go by and in a quiet bar Kacie and Robert meet. And the pretense is gone...they talk about their feelings honestly for the first time.
"I've been thinking about this metaphor, the ocean and the moon. The thing is it's not the tides that make the ocean so important. There is so much more to it. But the moon? Without the ocean, what's its purpose? It's just a barren rock. A mere reflection of the sun's light.

They are both miserable...don't worry this trilogy delivers a really fantastic HEA and set's Robert and Kacie back on the path but this time to something healthy and long lasting.

"You're still my ocean...."

"Maybe a little bit of chaos is okay; It's all about balance after all...And it's not like I could have helped it. I got pulled into his gravity. He's no longer a stranger, he's my moon."

Great story!!!

Initial impressions: 2.5-3 stars, the self-absorbed main character and her controlling boyfriend just didn't sit well with me.

The Review:

Out of the frying pan, and into the fire…

Binding Agreement is the third and last installment of Kyra Davis’ Just One Night series. The book was a short and quick read for me. I’m finding that my personal preference would have been to have read this series as one book rather than waiting for each short novella to be published. Had it been one book, I would have found the series to be more cohesive.

Binding Agreement continues right where the second book leaves off. Kasie now has to deal with the repercussions of her relationship with Robert Dade:
“I thought that when I broke up with my controlling fiancé, Dave, I would become the master of my own life. But now it’s just another version of the same thing. Dave controlled me with guilt and shame, even fear. Robert controls me with a kiss.”
She is promoted to a supervisory position after her supervisor was dismissed for sexual harassment. Her work relationships suffer because of Robert’s influence and meddling. Everyone in her office knows that she is sleeping with Robert.

Kasie irritated me. I grew tired of her voice. She got everything she wanted yet she still came across as whiny and self-absorbed. Of course it is hard for people to take you seriously if you sleep your way up to the top. I was also surprised by how similar Dave(ex-fiancé) and Robert were. Both sought to control Kasie. Where Dave was downright mean, Robert had more finesse and controlled aspects of Kasie’s personal and business life.

One of the more interesting characters in this series had to be Asha. Asha was career oriented to the point of ruthlessness. She challenged Kasie every step of the way. The one thing I liked about Asha was that she never felt any guilt or remorse for her actions whereas Kasie would agonize about everything. I’d love to see a book about Asha in the future.

Robert’s character put me off, which kind of surprised me. What girl doesn’t want a knight in shining armor to come and rescue her from her dull existence? What is with all of these stunningly gorgeous and sexy billionaires in all of these romance novels? It’s as if the earth revolves around them and not the sun. I’m not so sure that I would enjoy a relationship with a man that tried to control me and everything in my life the way that Robert did. Red lights and sirens would be going off in my brain.

I must say that there were some notable steamy scenes in this book. An exclusive evening at one of Robert’s clubs ends up rather hot. If you are a fan of office sex, well, there’s some of that, too.

As a serialized novel, Binding Agreement (Just One Night Part 3) was a quick read. I think I was able to read it in an evening in one sitting. I think that I may have enjoyed it more had it been a full length book. In any case, I did enjoy this author’s writing and I am hoping to read more of her work in the future.

Thank you to Edelweiss and Pocket Books for a review copy of this book.

Wow, what a ride. I finished all three books in the Just One Night trilogy in the past two days. Reading this story was like falling into a pit of quicksand. There were parts of this novel I wanted to reject, they went against everything I believe, but the more I fought the more the author’s words pulled me under. And what wonderful words they were. Aside from the plot and characters, which I enjoyed, I really love this author’s choice of phrasing. Kyra Davis knows her way around a metaphor. I was blown away by her skill as a writer—and what makes me even more surprised about that is that she writes in my least favorite style (present tense). The fact that she takes a style I normally hate and still I love her writing, attests to her skill at her craft. I have to give her props for the writing alone.

The plot was one I normally hate—it all starts with an affair. I’ve gone over this in my reviews of the first two books so I won’t reiterate. The only thing I’ll say is that there is much more going on here than a simple affair. This book is really a character driven story.

My absolute favorite thing about Just One Night is the characters. I loved them all, and surprisingly, at points in this book I also hated them all. I love the way the author builds them up and then tears them down. Every. Single. One. But none more than the heroine—and by the end, even the hero. It is a rollercoaster journey of self-discovery and growth, and I absolutely loved the ride.

It’s hard to compare, but I like to give readers some idea of what they’re getting into. So, I’d say this trilogy is Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James meets Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens. It’s not exactly like that, but it gives you an idea of what you’re getting into. I definitely recommend this book—but be warned about the cheating. If that’s an absolute deal breaker it’s not for you.

I loved the first book in this series. The second book was good. The third book, I don’t know. It was not bad, but it was not like WOW. I was expected a bigger BANG or something.

Did I feel connected to the characters? I was not sure what to think of the characters in the third book. I felt like they were different individuals from the people I met in book #1. However, days after finishing this book, I thought about the characters. Kasie met Robert and had an “affair” with him only after only meeting him one night in Vegas. There was an immediate strong attraction between them. So strong that I think she was blinded by who Robert truly was. Robert only wants to protect Kasie and the way he knows to protect her may be by hurting others. A lot of hurt and a lot of destruction.

Pace of the story: Good

Positives: The story flowed. The author is a great writer.

Negatives: The characters disappointed me in the third book. I did not feel good about them or where they were going.

Do I recommend? Yes, I recommend the series.

Just One Night: Binding Agreement is the third installment of the Just One Night trilogy by Kyra Davis. That one wild night in Vegas changed Kasie's whole world. It affected her job, engagement and even her relationship with her parents. Now Kasie is trying to settle into this new position of power, seduction and success all while balancing a passionate affair with sexy Robert Dade. As time moves on, Kasie wonders whether Robert is the right man or whether he is a stranger meant for just one night.

This conclusion to the trilogy wrapped up Kasie's story in a plain gift box without a pretty bow. Where I thought the plot would go, it didn't. And I wished it had. I was not satisfied with the conclusion of this trilogy but glad that author Kyra Davis tried her hand at erotic romance.

Just One Night, Part 3: Binding Agreement will be available on May 20 for just $1.99. I recommend the first two installments but if you're like me, you may be disappointed with this third part but have to read it for conclusion's sake.

If you've read my reviews on the previous 2 books of this novella trilogy, then you'd know I loathe Kasie & Robert Dade. They didn't get any better in this book either. That changed when I was about 70/75% into the book. I struggled with wanting to even finish the book because of stupid shit they were doing. The whole bar scene that Dade planned out was ridiculous & awkward. Honestly, if I was Kasie & found out the truth about that scene Dade wouldn't have any balls left! It wasn't till about the last 25% of the book that Kasie started to redeem herself. She had her 'aha' moment & she stopped acting entitled & owned up to her mistakes. She started her path of self discovery without anyone controlling her. She started to live her life not the life anyone else wanted her to live. Dade even redeemed himself at the very, very end. He righted some wrongs and he even had his moment of redemption with Kasie. With all that said, they're still not my favorite couple but, I ended up liking them (mostly Kasie) a teeny, tiny, smidgen more.

El final no me convenció mucho que digamos, .

No obstante tuvo el .

Un tres por la serie en su totalidad. Una primera entrega sólida pero dos continuaciones que no estuvieron a la altura, más un final a las apuradas y sin demasiado sentido.

I found this book too rushed. The storyline was there and it was good, however, i found it difficult to connect with the characters. Sometimes Kasie is just not believable as a character, the interaction between her and Mr Dade seems to be based on their discussions about 'Their/His Rules'.

I liked the first book, the second was ok. The third book, i'm really struggling with it. I had to finish the book only because I'd started it and wanted to see it through. The bar scene was just odd on so many levels. Here's a man who will ruin anyone's life if they look at Kassie the wrong way, and yet he laid her on a bar table and table and allowed others to watch an touch her while he's doing the deed.... The part i found most believable in the book was the end, when they reconnect. Frustrating book, i doubt I'll think about it again.
