The motivating host of one of the nation's largest leadership conferences offers a collection of inspirational and applicable life lessons through conversations with various high profile people.
Albert Einstein once said, “To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science.” What is true of science, I’m convinced, is true in all of life. Great questions are often the keys that unlock possibilities for human advancement. That truth has been proven again and again throughout human history, as great interviewers from Bob Costas to Barbara Walters have captivated audiences and ignited imaginations. In a world where the messages of public figures and politicians are carefully crafted by publicists and media consultants, we often receive only partial pictures and manipulated facts. The right questions uncover truths we might not otherwise know. They pull back the curtain on the wizard and give us a more accurate view of reality. —Excerpt from the Introduction

Ken Coleman is a career expert, author of The Proximity Principle and national radio host of The Ken Coleman Show. Pulling from his own personal struggles, missed opportunities and career successes, Coleman helps people discover what they were born to do and provides practical steps to make their dream job a reality. The Ken Coleman Show is a caller-driven career show that helps listeners who are stuck in a job they hate or searching for something more out of their career.
Well-worth the read. Ken asks highly successful "experts" of certain fields and area one single question. The premise is to show how just 1 question can open the door to tons of incredible insights and wisdom. Ken says to never stop being inquisitive and never stop questioning our current reality. When we decide to settle in, we are doomed to let our life's calling go unfulfilled.
If you could sit down with the people you most admire and ask just one question, what would you ask?
I think this one question has been the basis for opening up communications with just about every conceivable method, from verbal, social media sites, and even self exploration. There is so much thought that goes into that one question and then the other half lies in the possibility of asking just one person anything you ever wanted to know, so you know the question has to be well thought out.
In his latest book, One Question by Ken Coleman, he is able to do what most of us only dream about, asking one important question to the person who would have the most impact with their answer, experts in the field so to speak. When you have the ability to ask only one question, it really strips away the unnecessary stuff and allows you to get to the heart of what you really want to know. Ken Coleman is the talk radio host of the Ken Coleman show and has been showcased on virtually all the major news networks and radio shows, such as Fox News, The O'Reilly Factor, Good Morning America and many, many more, making him one of broadcasting's rising stars.
Albert Einstein once said, "To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science." Great questions are often the keys that unlock possibilities for human advancement. The truth has been proven again and again throughout human history, as great interviewers from Bob Costas to Barbara Walters have captivated audiences and ignited imaginations.
In a world where the messages of public figures and politicians are carefully crafted by publicists and media consultants, we often receive only partial pictures and manipulated facts. The right questions uncover truths we might not otherwise know. They pull back the curtain on the wizard and give us a more accurate view of reality. Other people often tell us only what they want us to know or perhaps what they think we want to know, but no what we really need to know. Great leaders, in their memoirs, often share the stories they want to offer rather than the ones you'd like to hear. When you hear speeches by political candidates, they might disclose their answers to the problems they want to address but not the ones you care about. A great question is a surgeon's scalpel that cuts deep below the surface to tap into the issues behind the issues.
In this book, Ken Coleman asks that one important question to business leaders, celebrities, religious figures, best selling authors and music icons. It is amazing how the right question - just one solitary question - can yield an unforgettable answer cram-packed with insight, wisdom, and encouragement for every stage of life. Ken hopes that through this book, these answers might inspire you as much as they have inspired him, and perhaps they'll encourage you to answer your own nagging question. After all, the secret of a killer interview is not just in the asking; it's also in the answer.
I received One Question by Ken Coleman compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster Publishers for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable one. This book is such a valuable resource of wisdom for all circumstances and walks of life. There are chapters pertaining to Succeedding, Surviving, and Sustaining, in which he asks questions from such notables like John McCain on Courage, Michele Bachman on Criticism, Dave Ramsey on Starting Over, Andy Andrews on Influence, Tom Ziglar on Reciprocity, Tony Robbins on Fulfillment, and Jimmy Carter on Passing the Torch, just to name a handful. There really is something here for everyone and one that I know I'll be referring to quite a bit. It's like having all this wisdom at your fingertips whenever you need an answer to any question you may have in dealing with life. In my opinion, this one rates a 4.5 out 5 stars.

Very thought provoking read. I love the idea of being intentional in asking questions: curiosity is a lost art. We take things for what they are and accept things at face value instead of making the time to investigate. But, God gave us curiosity! And He gave us knowledge, starting with His Word, of course.
The brief interviews in this book give the reader so much to think about in regard to his or her own life. I am grateful that Ken Coleman has pursued his own curiosity and is working to champion ongoing learning and curiosity in each one of us.
An enjoyable little book. Not a lot of new information but practical and encouraging. My only complaint is that the personal narrative didn’t flow well. I know it isn’t meant to tell the authors personal story, but because he shares personal info here and there, it was confusing when he talked about the struggle to have kids in one chapter and then they magically have 3 in the next, and then no kids again in another. Worth a read.
A new way of thinking in life and business. One Question helps guide you to think more about who you ask that one question to and what that question is to better yourself
The premise of this book is simple - ask leading coaches, authors and businesspeople one question to get at the heart of an important human issue. This is a book about leadership, but also just a book about life and the intellectual curiosity with which we should live it.
Some of the interviewees were questionable but others were great. You can tell the author is religious and it gets inserted where it isn’t necessary. Overall a good read. Got some valuable life advice here.
This book, while inspiring, is a little bit fluffy. The single questions asked of notables seem to be taken from the context of a larger interview (i.e. Coleman interviewed his subject and pulled out what he considered the most easily-addressed question). This isn't a problem in itself, but seems somehow like cheating to me. :) The interviewees' responses are bookended with Coleman's own analysis and reflection, and the overall feel is less "wisdom from notable people" than "self-help based on a few ideas from notable people and mostly out of my own head."
It's not my favorite genre. One Question might be great for someone else, as the writing is good and the nuggets of wisdom ARE pretty great. They just aren't the primary content of the book.
This book has questions broken down into small chapters. Questions are asked to known figures of our society and their answers were written here. I gave this book5/5 stars. I liked the format of the book and how easy it was to read! I thought most of the questions were thought provoking and the answers held my attention. I would recommend this book to just about anyone. With the different topics addressed here everyone can find at least one section that interests them. I found the whole book enjoyable and would definitely read it again!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
There is a lot of good content in this book, but I didn't really like the format. Each chapter (~5 pages each) begins with a biographical story related to the subject of the chapter, i.e. Opportunity. That leads into one question posed to an expert on the subject like Pat Summit or Tony Robbins. Finally, the author brings it all back together, highlighting the main lesson to draw.
Some of interviews are real gold, but it's hard to draw any big lessons. Each subject is just briefly touched on before moving on to the next chapter. Some may like it -- it just didn't work for me.
Coleman's book "One Question" was a fantastic read. This book was so much more than I had expected. Each chapter is a brief, one question interview with a significant person of influence in today's world. I was impressed how well thought out each question was and how in-depth they were. Not only the questions, but the responses from each individual (former presidents, sports icons, CEO's, etc.) were filled with nuggets and personal take-aways anyone could apply to enhance their life. A simple read that will easily keep your attention.
Not sure if this is the same book with updated title and maybe variations. I read: One Question: Life Changing Answers by Ken Coleman. This is a great book to get one thinking about different aspects of life and how we can live it better. He asks one question of "experts" in the field and of course their answers are to the point. Much can be gleaned from reading this book. Thought provoking and inspirational. A book I highlighted and will come back to as I journey through my life.
Well thought out book! Incredible amount of wisdom & insights about many topics. Definitely one to be referenced many times. TOC design allows you to easily access thoughts on many topics : leadership, startups, decision making, courage, mastery, health, career, ratio ships and soo much more! Kens radio show (kencolemanshow) and Catalyst podcasts are great to check out as well. Enjoy!
Ken Coleman asks great questions to influential people. The topics range from business, politics, sports, health, religion, etc. It is a fantastic book with great stories who have had an impact on history. Well worth the read or check him out on the Entreleadership podcast or on Twitter @KenColeman.
This book is a great read. The author interviewed 36 world-class leaders. He asked each leader a question based on the leader's personal life experience. The book is easy to digest. It gives a fantastic sampling of some of the most influential leaders of our time. It is a wonderful intro into leadership reading for those who don't read a ton of non-fiction. I totally recommend it.
I thought the book would be more about how to ask good questions, but it is more of a collection of short interviews where the author asked "one question" that was focused on that person. Still good reading and insightful.
"Good questions inform, but great questions transform." Ken is an interviewer who decided to contact experts in their fields and ask them one question. Fun to read a wide range of topics.
I enjoyed the information put forth in this book. I enjoyed the responses give to the questions the author posed and did gain perspective from those detailed answers in many cases.
