It has probably been over 20 years since I last read a Chicken Soup for the Soul book. I enjoyed reading the Chicken Soup stories then, and I am glad that, after reading Angels Among Us, I still do. The stories in Angels Among Us give me hope.
I often wonder how many people have encountered an angel and have never realized it. It is a thought that has been playing in my mind over and over due to my maternal grandmother's decline in health. She has recently become fascinated with angel stories and has been discussing her encroaching death to me each time that I visit her. I picked this book up on a whim when I saw it last week and I am happy that I read the stories. It is a book that answers my questions and many of my grandmother's questions. They are heart warming stories about various people's experiences with angels or heavenly spirits. The stories are short, descriptive, and just make me feel good.
I plan on giving this book to my grandmother and I know that she will enjoy it. I know that her time is getting closer and closer, now that she has had her ninth stroke. I do know that when I give her this book it will comfort her and hopefully take away any anxiety about death that she might have. I can only imagine what is going through her mind everyday. I highly recommend this book and if you have a loved one that is really struggling with a terminal illness or just depression; than please pick this book up. It is worth your time and money and you might enjoy it yourself.
I’ve always loved the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I'm not much of a reader, to be honest. I just don’t have the time, but when these books first started coming out my mom had bought me the Chicken Soup for the Soul: For The Daughter and I loved it. I started reading them and became a huge fan. They are short stories with so much inspiration in them I found myself falling in love with the series.
The Angels Among Us has become a favorite of mine. I found myself tearing up a bit while reading each story, as it really hits the heart. I love that these stories not only inspire everyone, but gives hope as well. I also loved that the short stories were short enough that I could read them while my little toddler was down for a nap.
The authors truly amaze me with their hard dedicated time and effort to put together such amazing books. I am a true fan and reader of these books and recommend them for all to read. There's something for everyone! http://www.justusgirlsblog.com/2013/0...
I read Chicken Soup for the Soul: Angels Among Us while literally eating chicken soup, stuck home with a cold. This was the perfect read for my down time because it’s broken up in small stories so I could read as many or as little as I liked at a time. Each story is uplifting and unique as it’s stories are told from people from all walks of life.
Are angels real or are they not? There are many stories of people who have seen them, figuratively and literally. They come in all different forms and appear at different times. Each story of an angel touching someone or helping them in a crisis is intriguing to me. There have been many times in my life I believe a guardian angel was watching over me.
Not everyone believes in God or miracles but there are so many that have experienced them, it’s getting harder and harder for non-believers to discount. I especially loved the stories of miracles because they are truly amazing. All of these people are amazing to share such personal stories with the world.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Angels Among Us is an inspiration and a great read for those times you just need a little pick-me-up.
I absolutely loved reading this book. the topic of angels, guardian angels has always fascinated me. i truly believe in angels watching over us. I love these types of books that tell stories of peoples encounters with angelic beings watching over them, subtly guiding them in life, protecting them from harm.I have had a experience that makes these books have a strong connection to me. my mother has always loved the chicken soup books infact she and i read one for mothers and daughters so when i discovered that the chicken soup series had some angel based books i knew immediately that i would want them so i ordered them through my local bookstore and have happily immersed myself in these wonderful books.
Great short stories to be read when time doesn't allow a full novel. Uplifting stories create an awareness that we are never alone.
Short angelic stories are perfect to read while on the go when guilty haven't the time to read a novel. These short stories remind us that we are never alone and are reassuring. Reading about angels creates a peaceful aura in our ever changing and sometimes volatile world.
I love Soup. Soup was had when it’s cold, winter and when in sickness. Something light to digest when not feeling well. Today , one may experience cold, winter and not being well throughout the year in everyday life. Soup in any form is good - appreciate it and share it. It makes one well and mote importantly others well. It is good for everyone all the time - just share your story and it will find delight in you and heal others
A nice collection of stories. Some were truly miraculous and gave me goosebumps. I completely believe in Angels and forces beyond our comprehension that watch over us. Yes, bad things still happen in life, but if you just open your heart to the possibilities, you’ll notice that every day is full of miracles. This book was a comfort to me after the loss of my grandpa.
Some really moving and inspirational stories which certainly helped to strengthen my own Christian faith, and proving to me the extreme power of prayer. I am looking forward to reading many of the other books in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
I was reading Angels Among Us at the same time as the Boston Marathon Bombings. I am sure angels must have intervened in this situation or there would have been so many more casualties. Why were people not in the blast area? I am sure we will eventually hear stories from people who should have been there but something or someone caused them to change their plans. Angels Among Us is a great compilation of 101 inspirational stories of miracles, faith and answered prayers. So many stories with so many varied messages. My favorite story was The Boy At The Pool. That one really strikes home for me. When I was a teenager (you know how kids horse around) - someone pushed me into a pool. I remember hitting my head in the low section and thinking oh no! I also remember thinking that it didn't feel like it should have - part of my head hit the concrete but part I could feel was cushioned by something that I assumed was someone's foot. Next thing you know I am out of the pool with everyone freaking out. I had a terrible headache. A little while later I asked who's foot I landed on - was their foot okay? Everyone looked at me like I had lost my mind - they insisted no one was in the pool when I was pushed in. So if no one was in the pool - who cushioned my fall? The stories in this book are similar to this experience. Contents include Miraculous Interventions, Divine Messengers, Answered Prayers, Angels in Disguise, Faith in Action, Angelic Visitors, Healing Touches, Love From Beyond, Angel Guides and Angel Protection. This is the perfect book to read at this time more than any other. So many tragic events in the United States right now. This book has some very powerful messages and definitely a "feel good" book. Totally deserves 5 stars.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
These stories were interesting, but were also a bit repetitive. Angels seemed to appear most often during their travels or vehicle collisions. My favorite incident was about the 18 year-old girl who transferred buses at 3 a.m. in an empty bus station as she was heading to meet a guy. As she was waiting, a scary-looking thug scared her, but suddenly a teen boy came out of nowhere to scare the thug away. When the girl tried to thank him, he disappeared.
Several of these stories described angels with dark eyes and hair, masculine and tall. But some resembled human beings and familiar people. Others even resembled former pets! Some angels were seen by many whereas some were only seen by one person. Some angels weren't even seen at all, but were simply voices.
I loved this book all of the things that Angels help us with everyday. Angels are around us each and every day if we think about all the things that happen in our lives that could have turned out bad but didn't could be because of an angel protecting us. I fully believe in angels I don't know if we are signed just one or if any help us in our time of need but I do believe in angels. This book validates what so many people think sometimes its not a coincidence sometimes its an angel. This book is a must read for anyone who believes in angels or anyone that simply believes in angels.
I loved the stories. I love the simple, sensible way that improbable happenings that really happened are narrated. I loved the way each story inspired a fresh surge of hope. Once in a long, long while one reads a book that one needs to read at exactly that time. So it might have been the stories... or it might have been what they meant to me...whatever it was, the result was hope. And that was wonderful, because it was what I needed most.
If you believe in Angels, this is a heartwarming collection of good things happening to good people. If you don't believe in Angles, this is a heartwarming collections of good things happening to good people. Either way, if you need some happy endings even when tragic things happen, this is a good book to read through. All of the Chicken Soup books are like that. I do believe in Angels and this book just reaffirmed my faith.
I just finished reading this book. I have to admit I am a fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I really enjoyed this book. I always feel as though there are angels among us and I enjoy reading this type of inspirational stories. Miracles happen. Angels exist. Believe the unbelievable. God is real and He does answer prayers!
