Welcome back to Whispering Wind, Wyoming, where New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods proves yet again that family comes first

Heather Reed thought she was making the right choice when she decided to raise her daughter, Angel, on her own. But three years later, Heather realizes she needs help. Her career as an actress is faltering, and Angel's more than she can handle alone. It's time to track down Angel's father…only problem is, he doesn't know Angel exists.

Heather's search leads her to Whispering Wind, Wyoming. If Todd Winston is dismayed to see his old girlfriend show up in town, he's shocked when he looks into the angelic eyes of the little girl who is clearly his daughter. Todd flatly refuses to open his life to Angel. Heather flatly refuses to leave town until she finds out why. Amazingly, they discover that through compromise and understanding lies the road straight to family.

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

Ugj, this was terrible. Woods is a good writer, but this book was such a drag. Usually I get pulled into the story and develop at least a small connection to the characters. All I kept thinking about this book was that if I met any of these people I would run away. The heroine, Heather, was a manipulative jerk who supposedly had a heart of gold except for the fact that the hero kept reminding her she could never stick to anything. She was carefree except not really. Did I mention manipulative? Yet loyal! Her persona was like a bunch of traits thrown into a bag and then pulled out randomly.

The hero Todd was actually even worse. I don't necessarily need an alpha male but sheesh. He was blaming himself for something that happened in his youth that wasn't his fault and while I understand that trauma sticks with a person he was just...stupid about it. And stupid about the effect it had on him, which he wouldn't talk with anyone about, even though that was the whole dumb reason he didn't want to be a father to their mildly annoying toddler. He was also supposed to be super-sexy except he wasn't. Who moves from New York to Whereversville, Wyoming and even though he misses the city because he likes silk shirts (wha? what is he, an Italian count?) he decides to dress like a cowboy? A person I don't think is sexy, that's who.

Obviously lots of other reviewers liked the book, so that's cool, but I'm so happy I didn't buy it and can take it back to the library today. I can't believe I finished it, actually.

ETA: the other characters weren't great, either. The people from the first book in the series were just as annoying. One of them makes a man who has been in love with her for 20937 years keep waiting (for a stupid reason) and then suddenly she's all: Yes, let's have a relationship! The hero from the first book (which I haven't and will not read), treats his pregnant wife, who is supposed to be superwoman, like a sick person who needs to be coddled. There is another side romance story that is weird, but I guess reading the first book would better explain that (not that I'm going to read it!). Now I'm all mad again. TLDR: Bad book. Too long. Dumb plotlines. Annoying characters. And the sex isn't even all that hot, so....

When I started this book, I thought I was going to hate Todd's guts. But quite the opposite happened. I ended up disliking Heather. Not only she left the person she supposedly loved just because he made career choices she didn't agree with, she didn't tell him she had had his child. And as if that was not enough, she continued pestering him about his current career after she found him and told him about their daughter. Get over it already! He did it for you, you idiot. I was annoyed with her long skirts, stupid bracelets and that spontaneity and unpredictability thing she was constantly bragging about. Yeah, yeah, you're the mystery woman. We got it already. Ugh...

Todd was stubborn in his own way. But I could see where he was coming from and he got on my nerves maybe once or twice.

As for the connection between the characters, never felt the love, never bought the whole Broadway thing.

All in all, B O R I N G !!!

I thought, hey, this can't be as bad as the first book in the series.. and holy crap it was worse! I absolutely hated Heather and that her MAIN reason for letting Todd know Angel existed was so she could dump Angel on him sometimes and audition. She insisted on forcing Angel on Todd (I mean it worked out, but when a man tells you repeatedly he doesn't feel comfortable with the child, maybe it's best for the child IF YOU LISTEN TO HIM??) Again, Ms. Woods has wonderful books- this ain't one of em either.

This was very predictable, and honestly I like predictable love stories. I recommend this book if you just want to hear a good fight, makeup sex, and they lived happily ever after!

Typically, I prefer heavier reading than Harlequin Romances, but due to the fact that I couldn't put my hands on anything on the shelves in my house that I hadn't read at least several times, I picked Angel Mine out of a "give-away" bin and thought "how bad could it be?" Sadly, I couldn't find merit in the story. I found the two main characters to be clueless, self centered, selfish idiots. The only redeeming character in the story was Henrietta the waitress who fostered children.

I have little tolerance for a mother like the one in this story who wants to parade around with her flashy outfits and prance across a stage looking for adulation rather than raise a child she gave birth to. If the father had at least been portrayed as a more solid character I might have gotten into this book but as it was written it just didn't work for me.

A good read with disfunctional main leads, an eclectic small town in the west. Heather Reed and Todd Winston both had issues. Both were actors in New York city. They split up after deciding that their goals were were no longer the same. Heather was determined to make it on the Broadway stage, but Todd decided to move on to a more normal job with a regular job as a television producer in Whispering Wind Wyoming with friends. Heather learned she pregnant after he left but did not tell him. This is a realistic story and the back stories and romance are good.

I really liked the way this story went. It held you interest and build a good base for a on going series. It makes you want to continue to see where the character's go

The story is set around an airport being taken over by a new group of staff. It tell the story from a stewardess point of view. It deal with women gaining their rightful role in the business world. There is love, hate laughter and joy all rolled in.

It is differentially a GOODREAD Read and enjoy

This is a fun read full of interesting characters. The hero is charming and tortured, an irresistible
combo for the lady readers. The heroine is spunky and likable. The little girl they share is cute as can be and you look forward to each exchange between her and the other characters. Characters from the previous book are heavily involved which is nice if you want to catch up with them. I hadn't read the previous book but the story was explained enough that I didn't feel lost.

The thing is that when I read After Tex I thought Todd was gay. When I started reading Angel Mine I couldn't imagine Todd in a relationship with a woman, add to it that Heather's reasons to seek Todd sounded shallow and I lost my interest in the main couple. I kept on reading because I wanted to read more about Maggie, Henrietta and Tess. No, it wasn't the best from Ms. Woods.

Review:

"Angel Mine" by Sherryl Woods was a wonderful contemporary romance novel that was the first in this 'A Whispering Wind' series. This was indeed a interesting story of how the girl gets the guy or was the guy finally get the girl? This author gives the reader a well written spin on a true romantic love between Heather Reed and Todd Winston. With Heather being a single parent would she be able to convince the father of Angel, her dad Todd that she needed help in raising her? What I thought was somewhat amusing was that Todd had no idea that he even had a child and just what had happened that he seemed to panic after finding out he had a child? Yes, this little girl looked just like him. I found this read a long read but in the end it gave the reader a wonderful ending. The characters were all simply off the chart good, well developed, likable, and so very colorful making the read an captivating one. I liked the way this author was able to share facts about this close knitted community that were a bit eccentric from Whispering Wind, Wyoming but all in all making this a novel that was fast paced and entertaining that kept you reading till the end. You will find yourself smiling as you are reading through this good read. Now, how these two were able to rekindle their love, I will just say you must pick up the good read "Angel Mine" to see how this author will bring it all out to you.

So, if you are looking for a good story of family and community with some romance added in, you have come to the right place for a heartwarming novel "Angel Mine" will give it all to you. Would I recommend? YES!
