Very good book with fantastic suspense. I really liked both Cara and Mason. Cara runs a women's clinic where she assists women who are pregnant and helps them find homes for their babies if they want to go the adoption route. Someone has started murdering and mutilating these women and Mason is the detective assigned to the case. He and Cara had had a brief romance before he walked away from her. He was stunned to find her pregnant and even more so to find out that the baby is his. Cara is very independent and had planned to raise her child on her own. Mason had made it clear he didn't want a relationship with anyone so she hadn't told him about the baby. Seeing him again makes her realize that she had never stopped loving him and she wanted him back in her life. Mason had walked away from Cara because the intensity of his feelings spooked him. He was also aware of the prejudice that still existed against Native Americans and he didn't want to expose her to that darkness. Seeing Cara again and knowing that she is in danger shows him that he still cares about her. He doesn't want to walk out of her life again. He also wants to be a real father to his child unlike the man who deserted his mother. Before he can do that he has to keep Cara safe and find the man who is targeting her. The action never stopped from the first pages to the last. There are some fantastic twists and turns to the mystery that really kept me guessing.

I waited a week to read this book, and it did not disappoint me. This book had me on the edge of my seat. Cara, had fallen hard for Mason, the Sexy cowboy cop one weekend. Three weeks after he left, she found out she was pregnant. Mason made it clear he didn’t want a relationship. So In Cara’s mind, why would he want a child? She is shocked when a body is found on a ranch, and it is Mason that calls her to the scene. Mason is just as shocked when he see’s Cara is very pregnant. From here the action starts, and never slows down. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, the story twisted, leaving me on the edge of my seat. Cara is strong and independent throughout the story. Mason is there to protect her from a serial killer. Is he there because it’s his job, or is it more than that? I love the suspense of this book.

Here is a sample from chapter 16 - suddenly the bomb exploded. Smoke filled the air, glass shattered and the right side of the women’s pavilion burst into flames. Cara was so close to the door that the impact threw her to the ground. She tasted dirt and felt blood trickled down her cheek as she collapsed into the grass.

A strong addition to the Bucking Bronc Lodge series.

Hate the title on this one, the hero is part Comanche and a detective, and the killer is using a native ritual fetish but it still comes across as derogatory., The story is fast moving but not always cohesive and more a b grade action movie than a romance. Parts of it were good but still left a lot to be desired as a romance and the mystery is just a little messy with lots of suspects and no clear motive for any of them.

Nothing new or original. The romance didn’t really develop throughout the story until near the end.

ALWAYS the same TSTL moments in all of Harlequin, it’s become very predictable. Heronine always leaves from where she’s working or living to go do something and that’s ALWAYS when the perpetrator captures the heroine. And it’s also a little annoying how everyone dies and gets injured but by the end of the book, yet the heroine gets saved. I’m not saying the ending should have showed the heroine dead but something new is needed for the Harlequin books.

I also didn’t understand one thing, but that’s probably my own misunderstanding. A bomb goes off at the clinic and the paramedics seem to already be there at the clinic with the ambulance. But then the heroine calls 911. I didn’t understand the presence of the paramedics before the 911 call.

This was an ok story but too much of the suspense and not enough of the romance.

Gave this book 4/5 stars. I haven't read that many Harlequin Intrigue novels really, but I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. The characters and the story line were interesting enough to keep me reading. The beginning was a little hard to get through, but it was good that the action started right away or it would have been hard to stay interested. I kind of had a problem with the ending because I don't I thought it would have been the Pastor of the church but it was just some random guy if you asked me. It would have been nice if he was mentioned somewhere in the story but he was just kind of popped up out of nowhere. Anyway I think if your into murder, suspense, and mystery than you should check this story out.

Good little mystery with likable characters (though the heroine borders on TSTL) - I'm not usually a fan of reunion stories, but this was a decent one. It kept me entertained for a couple of hours, and that's mainly what I'm looking for in a book. I had a few quibbles with loose ends - Cara's past secrets were hinted at, but that angle never came up again. The same with the Reverend - but since this is part of a series, he may pop up again. And couldn't the killer have appeared earlier in the book? Even in the background? Unless I completely missed it... It wasn't hard to figure out the who from the character list at the beginning.
