Will her quest for revenge bring all-out war to the swamps?

While I remain lukewarm about Himemiko and Kotaro as a couple, Nishiki is without a doubt my favorite part of the arc. I find him endearing after seeing him grow so much over the course of 10 chapters that I'm sad to be saying goodbye.
Nishiki's growth in this one is so delightful 💗 Himemiko eventually agrees to marry him after parting ways with Kota, and seeing how sad she is, Nishiki vows that he'll help heal her heart. The way Nishiki falls in love with Himemiko, and then letting her go when Kota comes for her, shows that he has a really good heart. It's also thanks to Nanami for spending time with him and their conversations lead to Nishiki being able to be mature about this, because if it's up to Shiranui, it's probably going to be a war. I do hope I'll get to see Nishiki again in the future because I really like him!
Oh, but hOW DARE THAT YOKAI CHANGE NANAMI INTO A FROG???? Nanami is so upset about it, but thanks to Tomoe threatening to eat the yokai, she finally gets her body back. Gosh it's funny that Tomoe realises that Nanami's back for a second too late, because he ends up biting Nanami's neck when she's already in her body 👁👄👁💖 Forgive me if I want to conclude that Tomoe wants to bite and touch Nanami just because he wants to!!! 👀💖💖
Tomoe is also slowly regaining his memories back regarding the human girl he used to love, and I don't think I'm ready for it :( He's obviously going to get hurt, and I sense that it will be painful for Nanami too 💔💔
I loved the resolution that we see in this volume with a side couple. I also love the journey that Tomoe is beginning, which I am assuming will carry us towards the end of the series. We are about at the halfway point, so that makes a lot of sense to me.
I'm so happy for Himemiko and Kotaro proving that humans and demons can be together. Their story was cute. Although, to be honest, I would not have minded if Himemiko and Nishiki got together because one day Kotaro is still giong to age and it was really sweet to have Himemiko and Nishiki send letters to one another. I enjoyed Nishiki's growth.
Also, the foreshadowing of a curse on Tomoe. I'm wondering how there hasn't been any hints as to this curse until now because he has been steadily falling for Nanami and confronted his own feelings for her like a whole volume or two ago. So, why now?
There are just some series that you absolutely love. You read other books, enjoy them, but they're missing something, missing a spark. Kamisama Kiss is one of those series that captures my heart. I love it.
All the more's the pity that it's on a 6 month release schedule. So sad.
In this volume, one arc wraps up and another begins. Himemiko is one of my favorite characters, so I'm glad that Suzuki took the time to revisit her story with Kotaro. The possibility of a romantic relationship between ayakashi and humans is a continuing theme in the series, and if Himemiko is able to make it work, can Nanami as well?
And the new arc? It's starting to get interesting. It's no fun when Tomoe can't remember his past, but that might be about to change.
WOW!!!!! The ending to the Himemiko wedding story arc was amazing. So many crazy things took place, characters both new and old grew a great deal, and our human kami is really coming into her own as she grows into her role.
I'm very upset, however. The beginnings of a clearly awesome new story arc start right after the swamp arc but there is only one chapter of it - just enough to wet the readers appetite and there's no new volume in sight for awhile! I'm going to go nuts, particularly since I think we are finally going to learn about Tomoe's past!
The Himemiko story arc is concluded, but suddenly Tomoe is having strange visions…or flashbacks! Another great volume. I do miss the little Tomoe sketches that we used to get sometimes between chapters and wish that they would come back.

What’s up with these great volumes coming up one after another? I swear that this manga has been really interesting and compelling for quite a few chapters now. Maybe (just maybe) it’s because we have an actual coherent story that connects several volumes which is something that we didn’t have before (or rarely had before).
In this one, we have the ending of the arc with Himemiko and Nishiki’s wedding and it was just really cute. I love Kotaro just barging in and declaring his love for Himemiko, and also how he accepts her yokai form. Though I do have to say that I almost appreciate Nishiki’s part in the story here more because he finally learns to let go and let Himemiko be happy with Kota.
However, my favorite part of the volume has to be Tomoe interacting with fake Nanami meanwhile Nanami is trapped in a frog’s body. I’m genuinely obsessed with how blind Tomoe is and how he keeps hanging out with her the entire time. Honestly, I think he knew the entire time it wasn’t Nanami but he just wanted to make sure that it actually wasn’t her or something. I also love how he bites the actual Nanami instead of the fake one and she’s mad at him for it.
But then we get something even better and it’s Tomoe being vulnerable (it’s great because Tomoe is never vulnerable even though he might die now but he won’t cause Nanami will make sure of it). Apparently this dude made a stupid contract and now he will die or something and Mikage comes back but so far he isn’t helpful in the slightest so there’s that.
This was an amazing volume and it deserves a 5-star rating. Now I really can’t wait for more, especially because it’s about my man Tomoe and Nanami has to help him or I will riot.

1. Nanami as a frog was hilarious. 2. WHY DID TOMOE NOT REALIZE SOONER THAT NANAMI WAS FREKAING POSSESSED I WAS SCREAMING FOR LIKE AN HOUR 3. Oh my gawh there were so many I love yous but they weren't, like, legit. 4. Tomoe trying to scare Gamako (the one with Nanami's body) by seducing her. That was golden. And then as soon as Nanami gets her body back, Tomoe's biting her neck! I died laughing. (I myself would not mind, but her reaction was amusing.) 5. AAAHHH we've finally reached the OVA! Although it's not an OVA, it was more like an unofficial season 3... BUT STILL! I thought the anime was amazing but then I heard people saying that the book is actually better and they missed a lot of things in the show which is REALLY EXCITING. 6. I loved how Ryu-oh was like, "I'm literally just here to give Nanami the gift my wife made. I could not care less about all these idiots's shenanigans." And he spends most of the book just looking for her, until he finds her in her frog form and dies of laughter. 7. Kotaro and Himemiko are actually really cute. I got a bit mad when she asked Tomoe to transform her human and he was like, "MMm, no thanks. Humans and yokai do not belong together." I was like, HOW CAN YOU STILL SAY THIS AFTER REPEATEDLY PROFESSING YOUR LOVE FOR NANAMI ALTHOUGH NOT TO NANAMI HERSELF GOTDAMMIT. 8. I really did not like the bitchy servant dude. (Pardon my language, I'm just really worked up.) He was all like, "Master, I know what's best for you, listen to me, I may work for you but I'm going to tell you what to do blah blah blah." Like... LEARN YOUR PLACE, YOU SKANKY FISH. So yes.. those are some of my thoughts.

You know how I was like "oh man, I hope this weird, pointless side story arch doesn't take up another chunk of a volume?" Well it does. Almost the whole damn thing, in fact.
So volume 11 was great because we finally got some Nanami backstory info, and then the author pretty much turns around and gives us 2.5 volumes (so a chunk of volume 11, all of 12, and most 13) of Kota and Himemiko romance drama. People we haven't really seen since volume 1. Why?
I hate to say it, but I could only care a little bit less than I currently do about these two before I don't care at all. I'm not reading these for Kota and Himemiko. I'm reading this for Tomoe and Nanami. Tomoe has, maybe, been present in a handful of panels in these last wo volumes and Nanami has become a side character in her own series.
So what happens?
Well Kota is basically like "I made a mistake!!!!" And Himemiko seems to be out for revenge. And the fish dude may have learned some manners and is trying to win Himemiko over. Yeah...pretty sure I am done with this series.
This is a review after finishing the first arc of the manga in Volumes 1-13. So while I'll try to stay away from plot spoilers here, you might not want to peek if you haven't read all of this...
