In the explosive fifth and final installment of Anything He Wants, Lucy Delacourt continues her scorching affair with a powerful billionaire who always gets what he wants. And as she navigates his world of glittering opulence and all-consuming passion, she explores the darkest reaches of her own desire.
Lucy’s understanding of the enigmatic Jeremiah Hamilton has grown deeper, and now she finds herself craving not only his sinful touch but his guarded heart. But happily ever after may be further than ever before, because Jeremiah is being hunted by an assassin known as the Archangel…an assassin who will stop at nothing to bring the billionaire down. But despite the danger closing in on them, her greatest threat is her own desire to surrender completely to Jeremiah—body, heart and soul.
Sara Fawkes has always loved spinning tales, but her romantic roots come from sneaking her mother's old Johanna Lindsay books from the dresser drawer. She's been writing stories since she was a little girl (and has the home made books from preschool to prove it), and loves creating stories and characters and interesting messes for them to get into. An avid traveler and adventure motorcyclist, her dream job includes selling everything off and leaving civilization to see the world on two wheels, writing in cafes in each country she visits, and living off her writing. In the meantime however, she lives in California with her menagerie of pets and, when not writing, loves to rebuild old motorcycles/cars with her Dude and plays with the characters in her head. You can find her online talking about whatever strikes her fancy at:
I am so pissed right now... One paying for a book per chapter is not okay and two to be left hanging really makes me mad!!!! I'll be finishing this book but next time I'll make sure it's a full book b4 purchasing and I would have like to read other book by the author but this put a bad taste in my mouth... I've spent $10 and didn't even get a full book
Woah!! Stop the clocks! Suspend your disbelief for this one as Sara Fawkes ratchets up the action to high velocity with more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing! Some highly sensual BDSM action going down as well.
i thought it was great until that damn ending. Sure you can imagine what happens but that just seems like a lot of laziness on the author's part. When your readers have stuck with your story for five books, you should at least give them either a sturdy HEA or a solid bittersweet ending that clears up any questions in the final book of the series.
I mean we don't get any of our questions answered. to name a few for example.
blah blah blah i could keep going but i won't. i think you get the point.
I loved this book till I got to the end. Nothing aggravates me more than getting really interested in a story, then it ends abruptly without finishing the whole story!! WTF!?! It wouldn't be as bad if the next book was already out. Then I would just go buy the other book and start where this one left off.
I'm really disappointed over how this series is being handled. I can see from other reviews that I am not alone.
If I am to believe the author's explanation on her web site, I feel bad for her in that this strategy for writing and publishing chapters piecemeal, at a glacial pace, and for premium prices, was clearly a mistake. I don't know why or how this would appear to be acceptable or attractive to readers and fans. I question the thought process and the guidance provided by the publisher; ultimately I blame the publisher for allowing this author's talented work to be distributed in a way that will likely damage her reputation and result in a loss in sales and loyal fans.
Having said that, I remain skeptical of the author's explanation. I feel it was clear after the second book/chapters were published, readers felt duped and that they were being overcharged. The author seemed to acknowledge this along the way and suggested that corrections would be made in the process. We were led to believe the 5th book would be substantive in length and include a resolution. Neither turned out to be true.
Why would a clearly talented author fleece her fans and risk the longevity of her writing career? I'm sort of stuck on this thought because any author in their right mind would only choose a career path resulting in a loyal fan base. Build up the fan base and the money will come. If this was truly intended to be a serial, why not charge a reasonable fee? The price point of these books is really what calls into question the integrity of the author and the publisher.
I gave it 2 stars because despite all this, it is a good story and I would have enjoyed it had it been published in an appropriate format. The only reason I purchased book #5 was because I thought the story would come to a resolution. I'm afraid I can't intelligently justify purchasing another book in this series unless they are free.
Final? Seriously, this is the final installment! The whole buying one chapter at a time ... yeah, I dealt with that. But you are going to leave it like this? The book deserves a 5 star, but my disappointment at the once again short "book" and no resolution, not to mention HEA... that lost a star. It probably should have lost two, but I really like the characters and Sara's writing, so I couldn't be too negative. I only hope there is more! Come on... we've fought through 5 - YES FIVE - of these "books". GIVE US SOMETHING! We deserve it!
The last two books was more of a Romantic Suspense than Erotic Romance like the first three books, but I still enjoyed the series. I want to read more of Lucy & Jeremiah. It feels like their relationship just got started.
I just have one gripe and it's a big one... I hate it when authors publish lots of short installments instead of just waiting to finish writing and publishing the story as one book. It just reads better IMHO. Another big issue I have with the short stories is the price.
The Price: The Kindle Edition of Part 1 (26 pages) costs $2.99 and Parts 2-5 cost $4.99 EACH on Amazon. That works out to $22.95 for under 300 pages, if you buy them separately. That is just #)*#$( crazy!!
I don't know why everyone is so angry. I liked the way it ended, not loved, but I liked it. It seems like there will be a sequel, and if not I can just enjoy the idea of Jeremiah chasing after Lucy. He obviously cares for her, and I like that Lucas is the one to help her create the chase. It's a perfect plan! I do admit I hate having to wait for what feels like chapter releases than book releases, but hopefully that will change with future stories. My only other complaint is that the last 2 books/stories focused more on action than the hot sex that got me hooked in the first book.
I have followed this series from the beginning. Well... it's not a series is it, it's one novel been broken down into 5 instalments, but I persevered and enjoyed it immensely - UNTIL the ending of book 5! I'm really disappointed. I was really hoping for some closure, but it ended on another cliffhanger, and really... how many times can Lucy get kidnapped?!
I think the Author lost her way a little towards the end of this novel.
Overall I give the series a 4, but the finale was a total let down!
Well I wasn't pleased with the ending - since this is supposed to be the last book of the series - but.. the rest of the story was pretty good.
So far things are getting pretty crazy with Lucy and Jeremiah. The assassin is still at large - and it's NOT who we thought it was... dum dum dummmmmm
So who could it be - there were lots of play by play options, seems like everyone got together for a little pow wow in the kitchen once Jeremiah got Lucy away from Lucas.
Seems everyone had a reason for doing something to someone else for whatever other reason. But most of all, everyone's faults seem to be placed in dear ol' mom's hands.. always blaming the parents for their children s mistakes ! HA I've never believed that was true, but Jeremiah's and Lucas's mother is a true bitch. Although these guys know the blame is rightly their own, things do get a little hectic. Which gives the real assassin a perfect opportunity to strike.
After a full blown shoot out - they are finally safe. Causalities are lost. And Jeremiah is ready to end this.
Giving Lucy over to his top guard and heading out to catch the sniper.
Things don't go as planned though .. bwahahaha - and that's it for my review on this book (no spoilers here :)
it was a pretty good series. The type of sex wasn't really what I was in the mood to read, but it was pretty good stuff.
I still wouldn't dare compare any of these books with fifty shades, though. The flogging was a good touch, but I was disappointed in the boathouse when Jeremiah threatened to give Lucy a good punishment, scared her a little and told her next time she'd get everything she deserved.... that's not a true Dom - They are supposed to be consistent and never threaten to do something without following through... That was the only flaw I saw towards Jeremiah, being the Alpha guy he is, he really should have given her the punishment she deserved... because, she did deserve it :)
BUT other than THAT - it was a fun book and after 5 short stories, it still might not be over.. it was left open so Ms. Fawkes can add more if she chooses :)
I was a little disappointed in the ending until I visited Sara's site and realised this isn't the end of the series as I previously thought but I'm still a little disappointed in Lucy. Of course I'm disappointed in Jerimiah too! She lets slip the 'L' word and he runs like the devils on his heels trying to backtrack and second guess her admission. I was kinda hoping for a reconciliation with Lucas but he let me down as well. Jeremiah clearly reached out to him near the end and Lucas brushed him off. It was very action packed this installment but I want to slap Lucy for leaving with Lucas at the end, espeacially as she's realised and openly admitted she loves his brother. As for Lucas I'm not sure about his intentions, maybe he really is trying to help his brother and Lucy (which I sincerely hope is true) but maybe he's just looking for a way to hurt his brother. The brothers really need to get over their past and reconcile. One thing I took from this installment (my interpretation of things) and from past installments is that the animosity between them is built on misconceptions. The biggest obstacle between them (Lucas's alleged theft of 30 million) was due to their mother unwittingly driving a wedge between them. I'd like to see Lucy with Jeremiah but I'd also like a reconciliation between the brothers, for Lucas to realise that Jeremiah was as much a victim of their fathers machinations as he was and to stop focusing on his little brother as the enemy! Personally I think Lucy should ring Jeremiah tell him where she is and then lock the brothers in a room til they sort things out between themselves!
Liked the story. Surprised the ending wasnt the ending. Not feeling these serialized chapters labeled as books. Lucy came off a bit weird and naive this time. Hoping she smarts up along the way. At least thankful to get more than two chapters this time for $2.99. Left this serialized experience, confused.
I have the same issues with these chapters fronting as books as I did with Beth Kery's series Because You Are Mine. The relationship between value and product sucks. Its just funky.
What kind of ending is that!? After 5 short story books all of them ending in cliff-hangers, we get to the 'final' book and we get ANOTHER cliff-hanger. The biggest one yet. How annoying!
Overall, a good story but disappointed in the ending and series as a whole. It should have been one book in total. I guess this author is more interested in making money.
I think I am getting tired of the "I wanna fuck you, but I don't think I can love you" bit. We all know how those things end in these books but come on its complication for no reason when we know she'll change him like all us women think we can. I'm not bitter I just think I've read too many of these books at this point.
How can this be the final book? I need to know what happens - no HEA, but really no ending at all . . . other than a broken heart for Lucy, but I need to know more! Do he look for her . . . will she end up with Lucas . . . what happens. Not happy with this :(
It's been said this was the last to this series but there's no way in hell she can leave us like that! I've enjoyed the books and look forward to the rest, if and when she publish others.
What a disappointment. I feel like I've been taken advantage of. Really? How can it be a good business decision to charge readers for a nearly chapter-by-chapter experience and then write "the conclusion" and close with a ridiculous cliffhanger? I will not buy any more books from this author.
What a way to end a book with you wanting to know MORE!!! So back track a bit lol He's all powerful and HOTT , what more could a girl ask for ? Answers! Well you get quite a few in this book and a lot of death to go with it. But the ending .. OMG WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN??
So Lucy is tied up while having sex after doing something wrong. He doesn't punish her, but not being able to touch him is probably the punishment according to her. Very dramatic....ugh
She tells him she loves him so fast I wished he would dump her.
The short story is simple and not very exciting. The writing is okay though net very original.
This novel was my introduction into the world of erotica, and yes, BDSM. Even though, I have read several others ever since, this series remains somewhat a favorite.
It begins so beautifully, the first three books (novellas) are just perfect. However, soon after that, it takes a sudden dip. Everything goes haywire, and nothing seems to be working for the characters or the story anymore.
OH. MY. GOOOOOODDDD!!!!!!!! On monte de plusieurs niveaux là!! Et franchement cette épisode est prometteur. Pourquoi ?
Hein? Quoi?
I am not sure I would have picked up Anything He Wants if I knew there was a cliff-hanger ending!!!
**Hair-Pulling**
Okay, let’s get serious, Anything he Wants is no epic book, it’s a short, sweet read that gets your Fifty Shades and Bared to you fix. I knew this, but I thought it ends… okay I need to get over it.
Fawkes jumps on the BDSM band wagon and I’m all for the dominated wealthy man with kinks, BUT it didn’t quite tie all together. The pace was too fast, the relationship seemed a little forced and Jeremiah didn’t seem domineering enough? Telling a girl to get on her knees and cuffing her to the bedpost is isn’t kinky enough for me. Sorry. I wanted more, but that’s me.
Moving to the positive, I liked Lucas, he added tension I wanted AND even though the ending is left open, I accept it and I am okay with it.
I will move too book 6, Anything he wants 6 because I need to know what happens!
I recommend for those who need their Fifty Shades fix.
