Ik heb alleen het eerste boek gelezen, het tweede boek heb ik gelaten voor wat het was. Bij het eerste boek heb ik alleen maar de finish gehaald, omdat het plot me nog wel enigszins intrigeerde en het makkelijk weg las.
Waarom ben ik afgehaakt bij deze schrijfster? Hoewel het plot dus wel aardig is, is de schrijfstijl matig. We zitten continu in de gedachten en meningen van de hoofdpersonen, de actiemomenten zijn summier en bij elk hoofdstuk dacht ik meerdere keren: doe nou eens show don't tell in plaats van al deze omschrijvingen. Het plot had ook een aaneenschakeling van spannende scènes op kunnen leveren, waar we volledig opgingen in het leven op een walvisvaarder en de spanning ons bijna teveel werd hoe alles af zou gaan lopen. Ik had mee willen voelen met Adelaides liefde en wanhoop, ik had mee willen voelen hoe Josiah in God ging geloven, ik wilde hun passie voor elkaar voelen. Maar in een oogwenk had de schrijfster al omschreven wat er gebeurde, en daarmee hield ze mij als lezer op afstand van de personages. Jammer!

2 short stories made easy pick-up put-down reading when know going to have little reading time for couple days and it will by interrupted as well

A 2-in-1 book Historical romances written by DiAnn Hunt
I loved reading both stories but the first was special , A young woman with so many dreams after listening to her father tell stories of his days at sea.
Adelaide was helping in the store with her mother when an older Sea Capitan came in and heard part of her conversation with another woman. He knew he wanted to make her feel good so interupted and it was then the two of them met. Of course her eyes were starry listening to him tell of his ship.
Caleb was a lonely man and before long the two were going around together. It was more or less a friendship.
But...things happen and when Caleb was ready to go back to sea and without a cook, he thought of how good Adelaide could cook and knew she wanted to go to sea, her dream forever.
As time closed in on him-he ask her to come and go with him then said of course as a woman going to sea with many men on a ship ,they should have a marriage of convenience that would help him to have a cook and she to go out on a ship. It did not take her long to say Yes.
Quickly married and then out to sea, she thought "What have I got myself into"? you will definately want to read and see how DiAnn has these characters come to terms with their budding feelings.
The second book is about Secrets..a woman who had been left on a doorstep many years ago and raised by the wealthy O'Connors.
Titus who was the son of a man that had worked with Mr O'Connor and lost all his monies making it impossible for Titus to finish his dreams of being a Doctor , He wanted revenge, He wanted to know Why??? This too was a good story and you will be surprised at the ending as I was.

Nice easy read. Innocent romance for a light read.
