Dakota Thorne trudged up the dusty path, his weathered boots kicking up small clouds of dirt after a grueling six-year stint with the railroad. During the night, three menacing silhouettes crept toward his cabin, their intentions dark and sinister. Inside, his unsuspecting wife Hazel sat unaware, about to be thrust into a terrifying confrontation that would shatter the peaceful reunion Dakota had long anticipated. Dakota tries to save her but she is killed and he is shot and stabbed. His neighbors find him and get him to the doctor. Hazel owned 100 acres of land that he has now inherited. After Hazel's death Dakota becomes embroiled with ruthless gangs employed by two wealthy men who want his land. It is a well written story filled with corruption and violence.

A different story
I enjoyed this story with all it's twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. It takes you on an adventure that has all the action and intrigue you could want. I'm looking forwawuthorrd to the next book by the author due on June 19.

I liked the story line of this book.
The main characters never changed. It's nice to see the stability and integrity didn't have to change. Even when working for an old boss, A big crook.

It bid always sad when the story starts with a person losing a spouse but it ended well. Good Western.

Great Western
This Western was really entertaining. Good action parts, very heartwarming romance. I highly recommend this novel to all Classic Western fans.

Weak!
Dissapointing. Have read some good books from Wheller but this une was weak narrative and amateurish in content. Maybe the next one!
