This is purely out of nostalgia and nothing else. I’ll now sit and mark all these books. It might mess up my goodreads average rating... 👀 (which is currently 3.50, that is quite high)
I remember reading these books when I was 8-10 years old. I was so addicted to them.
Do I think they’re the best children’s books out there?- No!
But are they still a fun read?- Yes!
I would recommend them, but one thing to consider is the fact that there are often English words that are spelled in different ways to make them mouse related it. Like amazing is written as ‘a-mouse-ing’ etc which is the only flaw I can think of. This is fine to make it interesting, but I guess it could affect vocabulary of younger children.
Otherwise, these books are entertaining and well illustrated and were a huge part of my early childhood. I’d say give it a try.

As a former teacher and librarian, I am familiar with the Geronimo Stilton books, though I have never read one cover to cover.
Finally, I decided to do just that. I chose this particular title because it is the first in a new series of G.S. books.
It takes place in the stone age, where cavemice ride dinosaurs and the news is chiseled on stone tablets - well, let's say it's a little bit Stilton, a little bit Flintstones.
Overall, it was cute. I like the pictures and the format of the G.S. books, and really, the story was fun. I really like the silliness of it all - Geronimo gets stone mail dropped on his head, the town painter is named after Picasso (Piccastone if I recall), and Thea's "dinocar" isn't exactly nice to Geronimo.
I didn't particularly care for the voice of the story. Perhaps, there were too many reminders directed at the audience that it was the stone age. For example, at one point the main character makes a reference to typewriters, and then he points out that they haven't even been invented yet.
From what I've seen of the original G.S. books and the ones featuring Thea, this particular one is lacking. I'll venture further into Stilton books at some point, but I;m not feeling that this is the series to follow.

Geronimo Stiltonoot is Geronimo Stilton's cavemouse ancestor. He also runs a newspaper company. But everything is written on stone tablets. His life is a little bit more dangerous because it includes meteorites, dinosaurs, and falling stone mail. But Geronimo puts his life in even more danger when one day he decides to help the town's museum get its stolen Stone of Fire back. His cavemouse friend, Hercule Poirat, joins him on his journey to rescue the stone from some ancient fighting felines. The chapters are designed to hold even the shortest attention. The bright and colorful pictures are funny and fit perfectly with the story. Each paragraph is filled with colorful words that are drawn to indicate their meaning. Boys especially, will enjoy the gross descriptions of fur balls, brown sludge goo, and poop. Most of the characters from the original Geronimo Stilton books are brought back in the caveman book, with slightly different names. Fans of Geronimo will love the spinoff that tells all about where Geronimo came from, while still filled with danger and intrigue.

This book is fabulous!
It was a very exciting, especially at the end!
It had me on the edge of my seat!
I recommend you read this book and then continued to read the Cave mice series
and continue reading Geronimo Stilton books too!!

Cavemice The Stone of Fire is a series about the Geronimo Stilton crew set in the cavemice time. Geronimo and his mystery solving friend Hercule Poirat have been asked by the mouseum to solve the mystery of who stole the Stone of Fire. The two take off on a journey to find the Stone of Fire which leads them to the Bugville and Tiger Khan's Camp. The two are determined to get back the Stone of Fire by sneaking into the camp and sneaking back out. It was a great plan until Geronimo gets caught and Hercule flees. Will Geronimo get out of Tiger Khan's claws before he is eaten? Will Hercule return? Will they find the Stone of Fire and return it to the mouseum?
I loved this new series. So very good with all of the little tidbits of information about cavemice time, the recipe for meatballs in primordial soup by Greasella Stonyfur. Still written in the same Geronimo Stilton fashion with these little extra bits it adds so much more to the book for the reader.

I know what some of you guys might be thinking, Why is this girl reading such a kiddie book? Well, I was obsessed with Geronimo Stilton when I was younger and when I saw it on Netgalley, I just snatched it up!
This really reminded me of reading them when I was little! I loved Geronimo Stilton and I didn't know that the author was still writing more book! And it's great that this was the first in this series. I never like to read a book out of series, but it's fine with Geronimo Stilton because you can read it in any order you want!
I'm not really sure how to give you a guys a review of this. It's basically just a nice fast read. The words are huge and there's pictures in it too! Basically, it's just like a super awesome picture book.
Overall, it's just a basic little read. 4 Stars!

A wonderful early chapter book. I have never read the other Geronimo Stilton books, but if they are as good as this one, I understand why they are such a big hit with readers. In this story, we are introduced to Geronimo Stiltnoot, Geronimo Stilton's caveman ancestor, who is the editor of his town's newspaper (well, actually rock since there is no paper...). He gets caught in the middle of a rescue adventure where his life is at stack.
My favorite parts of this book were 1) the allusions (ex.Pablo Picasstone was the town artist) and 2) the times that allowed for actual scientific/historical discussion within the fun adventure.

I love reading novels from Geronimo Stilton. Their so fun and easy to read. His adventures are very funny as well. So, this one was so exception. This isn't one of my favorites, but it is enjoyable.

#1 A solid introduction to the series. Miss 5 liked that this was more of a mystery / detective themed one.
Cavemice
What we like: The colourful pictures and exciting fonts. The way colour and interesting fonts are used to highlight words on each page is great for helping Miss 5 learn to read new words. Geronimo is pictured slightly more favourably in the Cavemice series - he tends to be a bit more willing to go on adventures.
Negatives: Apart from Thea (and even she has a tendency to be very pushy and ignore Geronimo) there aren't really any positive female figures in the series.
Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

La historia se trataba de los Flinstones, ratones y dinosaurios. Se trata de que se iban robado una piedra muy importante los tigres entonces Giranimo y Memento fueron a rescatar la piedra pero a Giranimo lo capturaron los tigres y después se lo iban a comer pero su amigo Memento lo salvó y salvaron la piedra de fuego. Tea es mujer y es buena onda, es alta, tiene un vestido morado. Geronimo es un hombre aventurero tiene un garrotes y su ropa es verde. Gruñido es el dinosaurio de Tea. Metomentodo es un ratón gris y su ropa es naranja y tiene un garrotes. Mi libro está escrita de forma narrativa. No había tantas frases en mi libro.

Reading this series aloud with my kids. My sister really enjoyed these books as a kid. And now my kids are enjoying it. They love the pictures, the different fonts and colors of words, and the story. My oldest is recognizing words thanks to the fonts of this book.
The story is really cute and silly. We haven’t started the main Geronimo series yet, but it’s kind of fun to read about his ancestor THEN read about Geronimo. We got through the book pretty fast, so here’s to flying through the rest of the books!

My kids loved this and it was fun to read. When I picked it up at the library I didn't realize there were several different Geronimo Stilton series, I had intended to get the first book of the original series. I'm guessing the original is a better series, as I thought the story in this book was lacking.

I picked this up on a whim while looking for more Spanish language books to read. It was the level I needed, but it looked a little too cutesy and simple. I am glad I gave it a shot. It was clever and funny and I enjoyed myself. Don't read it for historical accuracies--dinosaurs and saber-tooth tigers coexisting. It is kind of like the Flintstones--but with rats. :)

Geronimo Stilton was definitely one of my favourite adventure series as a kid. I still occasionally pick up the books as a fun quick read and this one was no different. Very nostalgic and I’ll continue on with this short series.

Perhaps it’s because the art style is more polished and the writing formula changed, I couldn’t get involved with the storyline because I was quite bored. But I thought it was great that they included simple recipes for kids to follow and make to hone their cooking skills.

It was my first book of the famous Geronimo series. It's a good book with a simple story. I am going to order more books of the Geronimo series.
