This is the cover of the version of this book I read.
Honesty and heartfelt emotion are two of the keys to this book of prayers from Marion Stroud. I loved the way this book include prayers, Bible verses, and quotes from famous people like John Bunyan,. Seneca, Elisabeth Elliot, Martin Luther King Jnr, Harper Lee (from to Kill a Mocking bird), Dale Evans Rogers, T.S. Eliot, Dietrich Bonheoffer, Leo Tolstoy, and the wisdom inherent in the quote by Ruth Bell Graham regarding teaching the bible. Even though not in her class, I could associate with the quote from Mother Teresa.
The book is split into sections that take you through the varying stages of a woman’s life. The topics covered include: A woman within, A woman and marriage, A woman and her children, A woman and her friends, A woman at work, A woman and her family of Faith, A woman and the Wider World, and a Woman growing older. There were a number that particularly resonated with me including A Different Kind of Fast. I especially liked the fast from criticism and the fast from fear. Anne Hamilton, I am sure, would agree with what’s in a Name and it made me think about my own name and my life. One that particularly struck me was Just another man, which looks at the pressure and responsibility congregations put on their pastors. It deals with the unrealistic expectations they often have to try and live up to which can in some cases produce the response detailed in the prayer, Just Another Man? It is sad but true that we load too much onto our pastors and expect them to be perfect when in fact they are not.
This is a book that will encourage, challenge and support women in the issues they face in their lives. I’m not usually into prayers written by others but I have to say I loved this book and found it encouraging and challenging as well as uplifting. Being practical and beautifully presented this would make an ideal gift or a special female friend or family member.

All right, I have to admit it, several of these prayers brought me to tears. Why? Because I prayed along with them. They became mine, from the depths of my heart.

Marion's honesty captures the thoughts and longings we all have. They reach out to every stage, every season of our lives. They touch every and I mean EVERY subject, even the unspeakable.

Ladies, you need to read and pray these prayers from your heart.

Bless you, Marion for your openness to God and for sharing with us.

I enjoyed reading this lovely devotional book of everyday prayers for women. The devotional prayers are divided up into six sections and cover different aspects of a woman’s life, including marriage, children, friends, work, family of faith, and the wider world. Many everyday issues are covered with sensitivity, and include heartfelt prayers that provide direction for women seeking Biblical wisdom. Practical applications are provided for women who are praying through difficult and challenging circumstances in their lives.

It’s Just You and Me Lord is a book you can pick up and read in small sections. Or, you can plan to use the book for your daily devotions over two to three months. The devotions include relevant quotes, applicable Bible verses, and a prayer that you can pray as you read. I appreciated the wisdom and insights I gained from each devotional prayer. I recommend this book to women looking for a helpful devotional book that provides a focus for their daily prayer time.

Many thanks to Lion Hudson (Monarch Books) for providing a review copy.

Well done to Marion Stroud for this heartfelt book of prayers, 'It's Just You and Me, Lord'. While I don't normally relish relating to other people's written prayers, I found the ones in this little volume very honest and practical--indeed, like a conversation with a close and understanding friend. I also really appreciated the Scripture passages used throughout, as well as brief quotations from authors such as Paul Tournier, John Powell, Elisabeth Elliot and many more. The breadth of topics Marion covers, including prayers to do with marriage, faith, friends, family and issues further afield, is impressive and I was particularly challenged by some in the final section of the book 'A Woman and the Wider World'. But my favourite would have to be 'Will the Real Me Please Stand', from the very first section, 'A Woman Within'. I trust this beautifully presented book will bless many. Thanks to the publisher, Monarch Books, for providing me with a copy to review.

A woman's journey through life is marked by relationships, responsibilities, and concerns.Marion Stroud offers earnest prayers to inspire and encourage women through the daily and not-so-daily challenges of life.
She has written beautiful prayers in poetry form. She includes scripture and quotes to further enhance each message. Headings within the prayer book are: A Woman Within, A Woman and Her Marriage, A Woman and Her Children, A Woman and Her Friends, A Woman at Work, A Woman and Her Family of Faith, A Woman and Her Wider World, and A Woman Growing Older. So you can see that there is something to speak to every woman's heart, no matter her age or situation in life. This devotional prayer book is small and could easily fit into a purse, diaperbag, or briefcase for reading and meditating during lunch or coffee break time. They are short enough that one can easily read them if there is only a five or ten minute break in the daily routine. I would highly recommend this book to those who need daily guidance to make it through the day....I know that I certainly need prayers. This book is another avenue of my prayer life.

***Insightful prayers of common concerns of all women...***

Marion Stroud’s rhythmic reflections, scriptures and quotes connect readers to the Lord with heartfelt prayer petitions on topics of marriage, children, friends, faith, relationships and more. Many situations she writes about “spring from her own experience,” while others are “rooted in the pain and challenges faced by others.”

She quotes India’s spiritual and political leader, Mahatma Ghandi who said, “Prayer is not an old woman’s idle amusement…prayer is the most potent instrument of action.”

While Marion agrees she also likens prayer to “…sharing a meal with a loved and trusted friend…”And there’s no better, more faithful, reliable friend than Jesus, which is what her book of poetical reflections is about—Jesus and prayer.

It’s Just You and Me, Lord, has something for women of every age and season of life from young to old, from…Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/cr3olm2

It's just you and me Lord
by Marion Stroud

A collection of prayers for everyday life for women
from marriage to old age.Its a great book, I read it every night before going to
bed. Helps you think about things, has quotes from the
bible and others.

The quote I like the best is:
Yesterday is a cancelled cheque.
Tomorrow is a promissory note.
Today is the only cash you have,
so spend it wisely.
Kim Lyons.

I hope they make a Volume two. I gave it 5 stars.
