Fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly knew what she was getting into when she married master vampire Thierry de Bennicoeur. As an agent of the Ring, Thierry is sent all over the world to solve vampire crimes and keep them secret from humans. And now Sarah’s on the job with him—for better or worse.

Did a witchy ex-mistress cast a deadly spell, or is there something even more sinister happening to the vampires of Salem? Getting to the truth may require raising the undead, with a little help from the owners of a vampire-friendly bed and breakfast. But uncovering Salem’s darkest secrets may drag some of Thierry’s own past into the light.

Sarah and Thierry have been sent to Salem, Massachusetts to investigate the disappearance of three master vampires. Their contact, Owen, sets the newlyweds up in the Booberry Inn, but moments later he dissapears quite literally before their eyes. The suspects include several witches and even a legendary witch hunter. Sarah is anxious solve this mystery especially when Owen posses Thierry's body and turns her new husband into a ghost himself.
I've been super anxious to read this book after finishing and loving Blood Bath & Beyond. This was another fun, light and entertaining paranormal cozy. The author has a real talent for creating some rather wonderful characters. The reader encounter: vampires, several witches, a few ghosts, and one hysterical kilt wearing shape shifter. I believe you really need to appreciate paranormal activity to enjoy this book. The characters experience and describe all kinds of paranormal activity, conduct a seance, use powerful magic to time travel and witness some pretty strong spells. I'm okay with all of that so I really liked this addition to the series.
Salem was the perfect setting for this book. Again it gave the author plenty of storylines to play with. The witches were done very well and definitely outshone the vampires in this book. I liked the time traveling bit. It was intriguing to learn a tad more about Thierry's guarded past. Sarah is a great main character. She is witty, charming and just easily likeable. I love that she was the one who had to save Thierry in this book. The mystery part of the book was really well done. It kept me guessing for a bit, but I eventually pegged the bad witch halfway through.
I love vampire books because every author seems to portray them differently. It was fun seeing the characters talk about typical stereotypes regrading their kind and what actually occurs. Does the sun hurt them? What causes them to not have reflections? Does garlic really ward them off? Those little tidbits were woven all thoughout the story. It also contains several funny moment and a few great quotes. My fav was a Harry Potter reference: " 'You'll be my ghostly sidekick. The Nearly Headless Nick to my Hermione Granger' . He raised an eyebrow. 'Are you aware that you reference Harry Potter nearly every day?' I shrugged. 'I can't help it. Those books rocked.' "
I definitely need to get my hands on From Fear to Eternity and I may just go back and read the Immortality series from the very beginning. I love Sarah and Thierry and would enjoy learning how they met!

Sarah and Thierry are back, this time with a new assignment. They're heading to Salem, Massachusetts to find out why several vampires have gone missing. When their vampire contact goes up in smoke right before their eyes, they know that they're going to have a tough case on their hands.
It is really amazing how much more I'm enjoying this series compared to the original. I actually want to be reading with Immortality Bites Mystery. The story was thrilling, and I really wanted to know who was doing what and why. There is actual real danger in this book, not just fake danger to try and throw in some cheap thrills. There are also real solutions that happen. I'm actually enjoying this.
With Bled & Breakfast we get more Thierry than ever. Now that they're married, they seem even more together than they were before. Yet again we see a lot of pretty much everyone trying to scare Sarah off from Thierry. I kind of have to wonder how many times we're going to see this same thing play out before we're done. We get it, Thierry wasn't the best person way back when. Sarah will stay with him no matter what. Can we move on please?
I'm still really questioning the idea behind some of these romances though. This dude hides out as a frog to "protect" the woman he loves. After she broke up with him. That is just creepy. Mega Creepy. Why in the world did everyone try to convince the woman that this was alright? Why did everyone seem to think this was an okay thing to do? Why would you talk her into going out with him again? Am I seriously the only one that thinks this is weird, creepy, and stalkerish? I just don't understand.
Bled & Breakfast once again adds onto what we've already established. We have had witches prior to this, yet we learn more here. Now there are also witch hunters, ghosts, blood magic, and a whole host of interesting things added on. For book seven in a series, this does feel a bit late to be adding on. I understand the need, though, since it was a bit weirdly deficient before.
The mystery itself was intriguing. I really liked the way it unfolded. Definitely the best book so far.
Michelle Rowen is a GENIUS! These characters are really some of my favorites. And in this installment Sarah had to work to save Thierry. :-) Such a different plot then usual. And Salem was such a fun location! I think these might be my favorite vampires!
❎ Cliffhanger ✅ Witches ✅ Time travelling ✅ Best plot twists 💯 Satisfaction
What a remarkable story! I couldn't stop reading it and had to force myself to stop when the tense moment subsided enough for me to get away and go to bed. I worried about Thierry's well-being and Sarah's safety and anxious to find out about the missing timeline. It's the best one in the series!
This series gets better and then even more craziness happens 😲. Never-ending action, totally interesting situations, nasty bad stuff and people, with wonderful characters that will keep you turning pages 😉. Thanks again Michelle, I can't wait to read more 🤓.
Really really enjoyed reading this book as much as the previous six. Highly recommend that you read it as well. Looking forward to the next in this series.
This is my first time reading Michelle Rowen. I must admit that I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. Vampires with a sense of humour and they drink coffee! What's not to like. Michelle Rowen's writing is witty, funny and engaging. This is an entertaining suspense with many twists and turns that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat while all the time smiling at the humour of it all. Lookinglooking forward to reading Blood Bath & Beyond.
This is not my first read by Michelle Rowen, so I am very familiar with her paranormal writing style and I loved her first book in this cozy mystery series. She truly is a talented writer because she can write from the perspective of many different characters and color in the lines when it comes to writing different genres. I believe that this truly is a gift! But we are here to talk about this particular series in which our lovely heroine, Sarah Dearly, helps her husband solve mysteries having to do with the protection and safe-keeping of vampires. Whenever there is a problem, Sarah and Thierry are called in to help! In this series, in Sarah’s world, it is very important that vampires do not reveal themselves to humans or that humans never find out about the vampires living all around them. Sarah and Thierry are called to Salem in this book to investigate the disappearance of a few vampires. They just happen to pick up a creepy ghost along the way!
This book is no different from your regular cozy mysteries, although it may sometimes feel that way. I love the fact that we are dealing with mythical beings instead of humans, but I can see where this would bother some people. This book does have more of a paranormal feel, but it is written in good taste and still has that “cozy” feel as well. Things got a little creepy in this book for me actually. Sarah meets a ghost, whether he is friendly or not she is not quite sure, within the openings chapters and I must say that her encounters with him were spooky. Especially because it seemed like she was the only one who could see him! Small touches like this strange ghost are what makes Michelle Rowen’s writing so great; she always keeps you guessing.
The setting of this book was interesting to me, and I will always be attracted to stories that take place in Salem. Of course we all know what Salem is famous for, and I was so thrilled to see some talk of witches and witch hunters. When I found out that the eerie ghost that Sarah was seeing was a witch hunter, I knew things were about to get good. I love the mixture of vampires of witches and I love seeing them as two separate mythical beings, not just thrown together in the same category. They each have something different to bring to the table. I felt that as far as the paranormal was concerned, Rowen did an excellent job keeping it more about the mystery and less about the paranormal, but never fear! There is enough paranormal mixed in to keep anyone happy. And of course we still have Sarah getting into trouble as always!

Michelle Rowen's Bled & Breakfast continues vampires, Thierry and Sarah's story and this time, they're married (finally, apparently since I didn't read their first series!)! And the Ring has sent them on yet another task, this time in Salem where three master vampires have been reported missing.
Thierry and Sarah check into a quaint bed and breakfast place run by a young woman and her grandmother and Sarah soon learns how witches didn't really leave Salem at all and that Heather, (the young inn owner) is one of them! Thierry and Sarah are about to get their investigating groove on when suddenly, their vampire contact--who was filling them in on all the necessary details--is killed right before their eyes. And so begins yet another very twisted mystery! But this one far surpasses in the danger elements I think, than the last one!
Just as things start getting dicey, something happens to Thierry, yet again that puts him out of commission and the mystery-solving is up to Sarah alone.
I have to say this mystery was really twisted! So many witches of power are running about Salem, you never know who can be trusted and it seems like absolutely everyone has their own agenda!
With too many enemies and suspects to count, there's never a clear line as to who are evildoer is. In fact, there were several! That's how insanely twisted this mystery got, but I don't say that in a bad way. Not at all! I LOVED how twisted it was! It made the guessing and anticipation that much greater! And I was able to successfully guess who our bad guy was...one of them at least!
Since Thierry and Sarah were apart yet again, there wasn't much time for romance for the two. Especially considering this was their sort-of honeymoon. But what little bits we got to see of them together were sweet. But it's the mystery element that's all the more desirable in this story! Being a paranormal mystery, that's obviously the case!
We get more hints to Thierry's past and why the Ring may have wanted him so badly on their payroll. But yet, I still feel like we're missing something, but then that just puts us at level with Sarah and Thierry for that matter. But their wants play another role into this one as well, with an ending that may even set the course for the next book!
Yet another delightful paranormal mystery to add to the genre! Michelle Rowen can write it all apparently! And she continues to delight and please readers of all varieties! She is one author you do not want to miss out on!
The Ring cut their honeymoon short and send Sarah and master vampire husband, Thierry to Salem, Massachusetts to investigate several master vampires disappearing. Sarah has barely been in Salem a half hour before she, and she alone, sees the ghost of a famed old Salem witch hunter. Thierry meets another vampire in town, Owen, to begin his investigation. But, it isn't until Owen is struck "dead" before their eyes by an invisible hand, leaving only a stain on the sidewalk, that they realize they are facing a dangerous master witch who can kill remotely. Then things get personal when Thierry faces the ultimate count down himself.
Sarah Dearly might get labelled impulsive, but she is tenacious and sees good in people. This book she finds out not all people deserve her trust. Thierry de Bennicoeur -- ever secretive about his past, divulges he doesn't feel comfortable with Sarah knowing his uglier self from the past. I think he is slowly opening up, but change comes slowly after a few centuries. Owen, the vampire Casanova, is slightly charming but mostly a sleazy opportunistic womanizer. He is a central player in this story. Heather, the young owner of the B&B is a cast out witch because she doesn't seem to have much power, is either a great actress and liar, or an innocent. Her familiar is a frog called Hoppy. Hoppy even has some surprises of his own.
Salem shines in the scenes of the past that are sprinkled into the mix, playing up its history to give a real sense of the town. The plot was better than I expected from the cover blurb. The ticking clock ratchets up the suspense for a page-turner and several twists keep the reader guessing. The killer confrontation was superb and tense. The wrap-up completes the book nicely, clearing the deck for the next adventure.
This is a delightful mix of suspense, paranormal elements, and a murder mystery - with a thread of second chances woven throughout to give an exhilarating and satisfying novel.
Rating: Near Perfect - Buy two copies: one for you and one for a friend.
Fresh off of an exciting adventure in Las Vegas (see Book 1, Blood Bath & Beyond), fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly and her master vampire lover, Thierry, get their next assignment: investigating the disappearances of three vampires in Salem, Massachusetts. Their contact in Salem is Owen, an old acquaintance of Thierry’s with a playboy reputation. Before he can aid in their search for the other vampires, Owen ends up as nothing more than a stain on the driveway of the Booberry Inn, the bed & breakfast where Sarah and Thierry are staying. Only an alpha witch could be powerful enough to kill Owen from a distance–but who in Salem has that kind of power?
Did one of Owen’s witchy exes cast the spell, or is there another dark force after the vampires of Salem? Suddenly it’s up to Sarah to find out, as another spell sends Thierry on an unexpected out-of-body experience. With the help of the bed & breakfast’s owners, Sarah must solve the mysteries of the disappearing vampires, Owen’s murder, and the strange spell that’s been cast on Thierry–all before she ends up next on the list of victims.
With the setting of Salem–home of the famous Salem witch trials–and a cast of witches, vampires, and even a ghost or two, this book was the perfect Halloween-week read for me. While I’ve never read Michelle Rowan’s other series (including a romance series revolving around Sarah & Thierry), I’m certainly planning to check out the rest of her books. She won me over with “Blood Bath & Beyond“, and “Bled & Breakfast” was the perfect follow-up to leave me excited for more in this series. Sarah is smart and funny, and very easy to relate to. Her relationship with the other characters in the book–no matter how small their parts–made this a great read. Excellent character development and a few fun surprises :) If you’re a fan of smart vampire fiction (i.e. none of that glittering in the sunlight mess), Harry Potter references, witches, ghosts, and time travel–this is definitely a read you’ll want to pick up!
Fun, wacky, spooky, twisty, delightful, engaging, exciting--all suitable words to describe this second helping of Thierry and Sarah's vampiric adventures. The setting of Salem, infamous for its witch trials and horrific history, was perfect, and the book was chock full of vampires, creepy ghosts and malevolent/good witches, and even a warty toad with secrets of his own!
True to her nature, Sarah was once again endearing, impulsive, stubborn, rash, snarky, sarcastic and fiercely determined to help others even if it meant risking her own life. Her devotion and love for Thierry, despite his less-than savoury past and somewhat standoffish nature, was phenomenal. Even Thierry, the mysterious, aloof, dangerous and dour master vampire, seemed stunned by the depth of Sarah's love for him.
The story was extremely twisty and turny with lots of red herrings and suspects, but, rather than take away from the enjoyment, the convoluted plot made for some exciting reading and kept the reader guessing as to the identity of the culprit or culprits right up to the end. I'm pleased to say I did have a pretty good inkling of who it was early on, but Ms. Rowen made it difficult to be certain. That's what I like to see in a mystery--it's not so much fun if the motive and murderer are predictable and foreshadowed too early on in the book.
Owen, the resident vampire Cassanova, was funny in a way, but also very sleazy and slimy. His fate was not a pretty one, but somewhat deserving in my opinion.
This is a very well-written, engaging series, and I fully intend to continue on with it as long as Ms. Rowen keeps on writing the books!
Thierry and Sarah have traveled to Salem on an assignment for “The Ring.”
Sarah can communicate with ghosts and when a witch from the past makes himself known, she can’t figure out what the heck is going on.
The Ring’s Markus has Sarah trying to dig into Thierry’s past despite the fact that he was one of their founders. She has no choice but to do their bidding.
It took me a while to get into the book. There are a lot of characters with multiple story lines going on.
Once I got into the book, I very much enjoyed the comical side of Rowan’s writing. Sarah is a sarcastic smart-ass. One of my favorites was…
“holy hotness batman”
At one point, she references Twilight which had me laughing. They are staying at the Batberry Suite BYOB bring your own blood. LOL!
Owen, one of Thierry’s old friends, is a unique character. He is a total slut but I couldn’t stop laughing at his antics.
Many of the characters have their own agenda. They’re devious and waiting for the chance to further their plans no matter who gets hurt in the process.
I enjoyed Bled and Breakfast but I felt it was all over the place, scattered so to speak. Too much was going on. I recommend the book to women. It’s a fun mystery; difficult to figure it out. The plot twists kept coming. Bled and Breakfast would be a great gift for mom.
This is the first book I've read by Michelle Rowen. But it will not be my last. I have already tagged almost all of her books onto my TBR shelf. I like the hero, Theirry but I absolutely love the heroine, Sarah Dearly. Newly married to the hero, a master vampire that is almost 700 years old. She is also a newly turned vampire. I love the concept and the characters are all well developed and the plot is solid.
In this book the newly weds have been sent to Salem Massachusetts by a secret group of ancient vampires known as "The Ring". Whose main goal seems to be in keeping vampires in the realm of myths and legends. In the world that Jennifer built there are other races also, a shape-shifter and several witches figure prominently in this book.
I adore the heroine,Sarah. She is funny and sassy but also fearless and coverages. All without super-duper super powers. Yes, she is a vamp. And yes, she is stronger, faster and quicker to heal then a human. But as a newly turned vamp she is nothing compared to older vamps, alpha witches and other assorted non-human people.
This book is a little bit PNR and a little bit UF.
I may have started this series with the second book but I can't wait to read the next one plus most of Jennifer's other series. Yep, this book is just that good.
Since beginning my infatuation with the paranormal romance genre three years ago, Michelle Rowen has become one of my top five authors, and her Immortality Bites series is my favorite of her series. The evolution of her characters Sarah Dearly and Thierry de Bennicourt and their relationship has been both poignant and hilarious. For those who hold to the philosophy that once a romantic couple close the deal they become less interesting Rowen proves them wrong in these last two novels where she moves her now engaged and then married protagonists into the role of detectives, working for the shadowy vampire governing body called the Ring. Bled and Breakfast takes place in Salem, MA. Three master vampires have disappeared in the witch capital of the U.S. Hoping to have their honeymoon with a side of work, Sarah and Thierry settle in at a quaint bed and breakfast. Things quickly go to hell in a hand basket with more vampire murder, a sinister witch hunter ghost from the Salem witch trials, disembodied spirits, time travel and shifting witch alliances. But at heart is Sarah's tenacious refusal to do anything less than fight to the death and beyond for Thierry and their love. Neither Thierry's dark history or sinister employers can shake her, nor can those who bent on destroying what they have.
Fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly and master vampire Thierry de Bennicoeur have finally tied the knot...but no honeymoon is in the cards for them right now, as an investigator for the Ring of Vampire elders, Thierry is sent to Salem, Mass. to investigate the mysterious disappearance of several master vampires. While being escorted to a local Bed and Breakfast their welcoming vampire, the areas lothario, literally goes up in smoke, leaving behind one pissed off ghost. Sarah and Thierry ask the Bed and Breakfasts owner, a young witch, for help tracking down the perpetrator of the missing vampires and the vamp that vanished on her driveway. Soon the areas malevolent witch hunter, who also is the local ghost, a shy witch and her friendly familiar, a tea drinking, knit crazy granny, Salem's top alpha witch and her coven, young Sarah and a very put upon Thierry are all running in circles to see who is really in power and who is the victim, or should that be "next" victim? Fun is always around when wacky, endearing Sarah Dearly enters town! I love Michelle Rowen's 'Immortality Bites' series. Look for From Fear to Eternity in 2014...I will too!
Just because a master vampire finds redemption, doesn't mean he will stop and ask for directions. At least, that is what Sarah Dearly is discovering about her new husband, Thierry de Bennicoeur. The two find themselves in a rather large pickle while on a working honeymoon in Salem. With a deadly (permanent dead, not undead) timeline of three days, Thierry is resistant to Sarah's efforts to pull all the stops. Luckily Sarah has poor listening skills and ends up in double and triple pickles with witches and ghosts. This paranormal cozy mystery is very much about redemption. Those with immortality often carry a dark history. The question is: How can you tell if a person has been redeemed, or is just a slimy bitch/bastard pretending to be redeemed. Ironically, there is trouble from the other end of the spectrum when Sarah learns that seemingly humble people can be capable of great evil as well, proving the old adage that you can never tell if a person is really humble until they have something to be humble about. Fun mystery with lots of twists and misdirections.
The more I get into these stories the more I like them. A bit formulaic but the familiar (and I don't mean toads or black cats) is not necessarily a bad thing if it is entertaining. This book focused on witches in Salem and introduced several complex characters that were rather intriguing. The interaction between Sarah and her husband Thierry is believable and mature. I really like the sense of humour in the story and the regular pop culture references are fun.
I'm not typically a paranormal romance reader but once I finish reading the next book "From Fear to Eternity" I'm going to go back and read the first 5 books where these characters are introduced in a series of non-mystery novels because they've kind of grown on me and I'm interested in seeing how this all begins.
I'm really enjoying Michelle Rowen's character development with the secondary characters. They feel like whole characters and not just means to an end for the main characters. They have real issues and stories all their own just as complex as anyone else in the books.
I think that I would have liked this one better had not every Tom, Dick, and Harry been accused of being the bad guy towards the end. It was hard to keep up as it was a big reveal with the evil plan, but no that person was foiled, then another was revealed as the bad guy with another evil plan, then another. In the end the whole reason why was a little stupid.
Owen had the potential to be funny, but instead he annoyed me with his lackadaisical ways and how he felt no remorse with sleeping with any woman who was around him.
I did like how Sarah and Theirry both realized just how much they loved each other and almost lost that. I also liked that Sarah was able to see Thierry at his worst and still love him.
After their wedding in Vegas, Sarah and Thierry head to Salem, MA for his next assignment. Several vampires have gone missing and they need to figure out what happened to them. Things become complicated when their local contact, a ladies man/vamp is killed right in front of them. Although they also have to contend with some witches and ghosts, Sarah is determined to solve the mystery and enjoy her honeymoon.
One word here folks-FUNNY! I really liked everything about this book. Salem was a perfect location for a mystery involving ghosts, vampires and witches. The side characters were fun, especially Owen, the local vampire in resident and town slut. Sarah was her usual self-too trusting and funny.
Super fun-can't wait for the next book in the series.
It was another brilliant outing by Michelle Rowan, so easy to read I couldn't put it down. Have followed this series since the beginning and it just keeps getting better, Sarah has really grown from the early days now married to Thierry and off on honeymoon to Salem, you know its not going to be straightforward especially with the ring involved, ghosts, witches and Thierry's past what more could you want. A brilliant book to take on holiday another brilliant addition to the immortality bites series, can't wait for the next
I would firstly like to thank Michelle Rowen for sending me a free copy of her book (Goodreads Firstread).
I read this book a few weeks back now but never got around to reviewing it so I will do it now. I do love books with vampires in and this is one of them. Having not read the first one in the series, I was expecting to struggle to follow this one, but I found that it wasn't that hard to follow and wasn't hard to catch up with what was going on. I really did enjoy reading this book. 4/5
Towards the end I started to guess who was responsible but there were so many other twists and turns and people involved in the mystery that kept it exciting! Thierry has really been growing on me too without Quinn stealing the spotlight. Although Thierry is supposed to be the one working for The Ring and somehow he ends up stuck in something else and Sarah solves everything LOL I don't know why he even doubts her or bothers trying to stop her.
