One thing I’ve learned about myself while reading “Don’t Forget To Remember Me” is that I’m clearly a glutton for punishment. After having torturously finished the first book “The Future of Our Past”, I still went ahead and started the sequel. “Why????????????”, I scream at myself!
The writing is just SO BAD. It’s like a 5th grader’s book report: I did this. And then I did this. And I said this. And I thought this. NO FLOW. What’s worse is that the author wrote each section in 1st person perspective of the female (Julia) and male (Ryan) leads but it reads like 2 fifty year old women telling a story. It might have read better if she wrote it in 3rd person so the outdated voice wouldn’t be so annoying and would just feel more descriptive. But because I’m forced to try and believe that young 20-somethings talk/think like this, I got increasingly GROUCHY, because I know they don’t!
And just like the first book, this was just DRAWN out. It was the exact same thing over and over and over and over again…chapter after chapter...SO brutal after the 500th time of the same exact interaction between Ryan & Julia. A couple times, I thought I had neglected to turn the page on my e-reader only to find that I DID turn the page…but it was the EXACT same thing as the previous page!!!
*breathe*.
Ok. The only reason this horribly written book doesn’t get 1 star is because the story, sadly, COULD have been entertaining. It had the potential. And as sappy as the characters were, I didn’t entirely HATE them (although Ryan is kind of an idiot). But, it’s never good if you feel like screaming throughout the book. 2 stars, barely…I stand by it…even though all the other GR reviews seem to be favorable.
I am giving Don't Forget To Remember Me by Kahlen Aymes 4 stars. I must say it is 10x better then the first novel, it has more of a story plot and wasn't AS cheesy. Though there is plenty of that still.
The novel starts off with Julie in the hospital after her accident. She has lost her baby and Ryan is going crazy not knowing what will happen to her. Julie wakes up but has no knowledge of who he is or anything after freshman year of college. Ryan is confused, mad, sad, and hurt. This is will the book gets very good and earns 4 stars. Ryan is an amazing man... Totally fiction. I can't imagine an actual man doing or saying the things he does. He is there for Julie but won't say what their relationship really is because the doctors told him this could do more harm to her. All she knows is he is a close friend.
As she gets better her memory does nt come back but she knows Ryan is something more to her. He refuses to touch her and she gets upset, almost leaving Boston where she is getting treatment and resting. Ryan and Julie are devasted but for different reasons, this is why I loved that the author used both the characters as the POV in the story. I loved being able to know what they are both feeling throughout the process of gaining back Julie's memory.
Other reasons I liked this book better then the first was there was not as many sex scenes due to Julie trying to gain memory and Ryan not being with her. I know, you're thinking "what no sex scenes?!" but there are later on..... But the book isn't all sex and cheesy lines like in book 1 on every page. There was an actual story that I loved reading and hearing about the characters.
Their wedding was beautiful and so R & J. There wedding night was beautifully written as well. I want a man like Ryan... Hot, successful, doctor, rich family, and would do anything for his girl, oh and is always wanting sex and to please you. Like I said, totally fictional character but I did enjoy him! Especially Caveman Ryan. Yum!
I liked that the author included a sneak peek of book 3, I will most likely buy that as well... I want to find out if they have a baby and I think crazy Liza will make a reappearance somewhere. I'm glad I did not give up and read Don't Forget To Remember Me.
I have fallen in love with these books! I have read them twice now and could read them over and over again! I can't wait to purchase the paperbacks just to have! At first I didn't like the back and forth but came to love reading the different views from Julia and Ryan's POV! Ryan Mitchell Matthews is forever in my heart! He loves Julia with everything he is. Beautiful story. Loved loved loved this triology I can't wait for the final book and I have told everybody who would listen to me to read these ASAP.
Well worth the wait! Gloriously romantic, seductively captivating, and emotionally fulfilling . . . are just a few of the descriptions I can attach to the second book in Kahlen Aymes’s “Remembrance Trilogy.” Ryan and Julia are once again center stage and just as breathtakingly beautiful and loving as in the first book. An amazing secondary cast of characters only enhances the quality and depth in this story of friendship and undying love between a man and a woman.
Starting at the point where the first entry in the series left off, Julia is hospitalized in critical condition with little or no memory of the last eight years. Ryan is in the last months of medical school. While Julia faces pain and uncertainty, Ryan must overcome his own struggles and deal with the heartache and secrets he is keeping hidden from her at the insistence of Julia’s doctors. “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” takes not only the main characters but readers as well on a rather lengthy trip into purgatory before the sun starts to shine and the love shared between these two is celebrated in an event that demanded a box of kleenex and a few minutes to get myself back under control.
Writing this book in first person, equally shared by both the male and female lead characters, the author gives a more meaningful and up close personal view of each detail in this hypersensitive and heart- throbbing journey. I found the almost diary-like sentence structure to be vividly fascinating and refreshingly true to human nature. This book is filled with passion that leaves you breathlessly begging for more along with a full range of emotional complexities that promises to deliver an unforgettable story of love and survival.
I’m anxiously looking forward to seeing what Kahlen Aymes has in store for Julia and Ryan, as well as her readers, in the third book, “A Love Like This” coming later this year. I’m hoping that maybe we’ll catch another glimpse of Dr. Spencer, the psychologist who, while treating Julia, developed a crush on her as well. Or might we expect Liza, that snotty medical school stalker who drove Ryan crazy, to make a re-appearance? Could she show up in New York to practice medicine at the same hospital as Dr. Ryan Matthews? I can almost bet that this author will treat us to another wild ride before we finally see the long awaited finale to this Happily Ever After.
Okay, so the reason for only 2 stars........shit where do I start. I have read both the books in this series and this was the better book of the two but as far as good books go this was not. It had its moments and I liked the characters some of the time. The rest of the time I wanted to punch them in the face. I am a hopeless romantic, but this was just sickening. How many stinking times can someone say "I love you so much but I don't know how to express it in words"? Well hello dickhead, you just did!!!!
Moving on from this tragedy, these books were really poorly written. My 12 year old could have wrote them. I did however think the plot would have been a great plot if it was written using adult monologue and didn't repeat the same words/sayings on every EFFING page. I really feel like this author really, really wanted to write a trilogy so therefor filled up most of the pages with shit and drivel to stretch it out to 3 books. Bad move ninja master!!!
So anyway just cause I'm a glutton for punishment and can't stop looking at a train wreck when I see one I will read the third book but I'm not paying for it so.....can I borrow it pls ;-)
"God, you're beautiful." The words tore from his throat in a low growl. "You leave me breathless. I'm...undone, Julia. there are no words to tell you how much I've missed you...how much I fucking love you."
To say this book left me breathless was probably an understatement, I probably should have invested in an oxygen mask and a blood pressure device because it shot through the roof. Not entirely due to the heartfelt and passionate love this book evokes but the heartbreak and emotional turmoil that also played a huge part in this second instalment.
For those of you who have read the first book, The Future of our Past, you will have prepared yourself for the opening of Don't Forget to Remember Me, well... If you are wise you would have. Automatically I was thrown back into that emergency room, and the urgency, terror and grief that Ryan is experiencing literally hits the reader like a train wreck. I actually forgot how incredibly talented Kahlen is as a writer, she has the ability to write emotion so profound that it will leave you gasping. Whether it is a beautifully written love scene, or one of absolute emotional turmoil, the words flow so effortlessly you can't help but get sucked in to all the drama that unfolds in this book.
Without trying to give away too much, this story again revolves around the two main characters, Julia and Ryan. After a devastating accident, Julia has to learn to find herself again, and Ryan is the key to her rehabilitation. However, this 'mad mad love' has a way of turning a sour situation into one that will one day again make sense.
Follow Ryan and Julia in their next chapter, and discover how two destined soul-mates always seem to find their way home.
"From the moment I laid eyes on you, ive known that your gorgeous face..is the last thing i want to see this side of heaven"
Now then, my knees got weak when I read that!
I can only describe this book with one word: PERFECT
I tweeted Kahlen and told her the title for the second book is undoubtedly genius!!!!!!
I am a big fan of Ryan and Julia's love story and when I got my hands on this book, I was seriously day dreaming of Dr. Matthews while I was frantically going through the subways of London! Can you imagine the effect he has on me? **why are u so perfect?** He just spells romantic all over and I do believe that he is making love through his words. Yup! *with a popping sound!*
If it wasn't for my busy schedule I would've finished this book in 8 hours. It is absolutely a breath of fresh air in my boring routined life now.
I don't want to spoil anything but I love every chapter of this book, it was breaking my heart at some point but most of the time it fluttered. In the last few chapters, every time Ryan says something sentimental my emotions are just all over the place.
Kahlen is a winner, she emphasizes the Life lessons: The significance of family and friends, and the worth of time, especially with your loved ones despite the hectic careers.
So it really is true with the saying that "love is sweeter the second time around", especially if it's with the same person. True love will always overcome adversities in life.
The last part of the book just squeezed my heart and all I can say is it is absolute perfection.
This is another 5 million stars for me ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I couldn't wait to start this story especially after only just reading The Future Of Our Past. I fell in love with Ryan and Julia all the more and got totally swept away with them following their story and relationship. Kahlen is such a talented and creative writer and brings out such emotions in me whilst reading. I don't want to go into to much as i really don't want to ruin it for anybody but you HAVE to read this book and carry on with their journey and trust me you will not be disappointed. The one brilliant thing i loved it wasn't your normal love story where they lived happily ever after at all times(not a spoiler promise)it actually felt like a real life relationships with the ups and downs, highs and lows. Cannot wait for book three as i know my expectations will be exceeded. If there's one thing i need to do is spread the love for The Remembrance Trilogy!
*This review was made possible by an ARC from the author*
Five stars are definitely not enough for this book. This is the second book in Ms. Aymes trilogy. It is about Ryan/Julia who we met first in book #1 "The Future Of Our Past". I can't give away the storybut, suffice it to say that the book is hauntingly, romantic. It is a rollercoaster ride of these two people who you root for from page one of the first book.It is one of the best books I have read in 2012. This is a MUST READ series for those who love romance books. You will not be able to put it down-I couldn't.
I really enjoyed this book. It is so sad in places. the first book sets it up perfectly so that you understand these characters and their relationship so well and that you ultimately FEEL their loss and what they go through in this second book. I am interested in seeing where they go from here in the third book and can see that this will be a great Trilogy.
“What was she doing here? I pulled her engagement ring off of my finger and rolled it around in my hand with the bracelet. Please, God. I’ll do anything. Anything!”
Ryan is crawling out of his skin in anguish over Julia. She came to see him but not the way either of them expected. What started as a wonderful surprise turned tragic when Julia suffers severe injury from an accident in route to the hospital. Not knowing whether she’ll live or die, Ryan is powerless and completely grief-stricken. When given news of Julia’s condition, Ryan is both elated and heartbroken…she’s alive…but something is not right. Julia has no memory of Ryan or their life together.
“What if she never remembers me? I don’t know what I’ll do if…” “She will honey. You’re unforgettable.” “Oh, yeah? Who told you that?” I asked softly, trying to blink back the tears that suddenly burned my eyes. “Julia.”
What’s a man to do when the love of his life doesn’t remember him or their life together? He starts over. Ryan is determined to help Julia remember the journey they started together; first as friends and then as lovers with plans of marriage. Julia gets to experience falling in love with Ryan all over again. As bits and pieces of their former life come back to her, Julia learns to not just to remember the feelings she’s had, but feel them.
“Ryan, I want you to touch me. You make me…” She stopped, and squeezed my thigh, bringing her head up to meet my eyes. “I want…I mean, when I’m near you I’m just…” Her lids dropped halfway down and her mouth parted. I could see the same desire in her face that I’d seen a thousand times. I knew exactly what she was trying to say even though she was struggling with the words. “I’m just…” “Fucking vibrating?” I asked with a groan. “Yes.”
Falling in love the second time posed some challenges but Ryan never gave up on the primal connection he shares with Julia; even if he had to fight dirty to win her over. Julia belongs with Ryan and he does everything in his power to remind her, except tell her about her; that’s something she has to do all on her own. Frustrations run high because it feels like they are holding back when they have come so far before the accident, but Ryan won’t risk losing her memory of them forever; so he follows the rules. Julia sees things differently…
“Ryan…can you please try to see things differently, just for a second? I got two first times with you…to fall in love with you twice, and experience it all over again with you, so please don’t be sad. I’m happy.”
And happy they are. Julia finds her way back to Ryan in every sense, moving forward with their plans of forever.
“Forever will never be long enough to love you…never long enough for this.”
The continuation of Ryan & Julia’s story pulls on my heartstrings. It is a beautiful tale of two people working to find their way back to what they know. I loved this book just as much as the first and look forward to what is in store for them in book three! Don’t Forget to Remember Me will stay with me forever.
This is the second book in The Remembrance Trilogy.
We continue The Love story of Ryan and Julia with this book and we find out what happens after the end of book 1 .
"From the moment we met I knew your gorgeous face is the first thing I want to see on this side of heaven"
Heartbreak, conflict, compromise, passion and most of all a beautiful love. You cannot help but feel every emotion that Ryan & Julia feel.
"God, you're beautiful." The words tore from his throat in a low growl. "You leave me breathless. I'm...undone, Julia. there are no words to tell you how much I've missed you...how much I fucking love you."

The second book of The Remembrance Trilogy follows Ryan and Julia's quest to rebuild their stunning past; an incredibly beautiful and heart-breaking romance, full of passion, intensity and truly immeasurable love. You'll be left spellbound, breathless and aching for more..
“Julia...do you feel how much you own me?" I moaned against the soft skin of her neck, her pulse beating wildly against my lips. So sweet and alive. "But you're mine. You own me, but you've always been mine.”
This Book does have an HEA , it ends in a good place and it surely leaves you wanting to know what Kahlen is going to do with Julia and Ryan in Book 3 ...
Wow...all I can say is that this was an excellent book to follow the first book. Eventhough this book aggravated me at times, because I didn't agree with the Doctors advice, it was still a very well told story. It shows you that Love can really overcome anything. I thought the ending to this book was wonderful, but i can't wait to see how the trilogy will continue and end with the 3rd book. I really hope there is a HEA at the end of the 3rd book because if not I will be upset, because there is one at the end of this book. After everything that Ryan and Julia have been through I really hope the 3rd book kind of takes it easy on them. Anyways this book was really great, I felt so many different emotions while reading this book. This book wasn't as spicy as the first but that is only because of where the story line went, but once the spice comes back it is really good;) I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a hopeless romantic!!!!
I have to admit I love this series....it's a true romance.
metaphorically speaking its as delicious as donuts, the only downside is it has too much sugar and is heavy on the tummy in parts... I totally gorged myself!!!
Realistically, it was beautiful.....I give it 4* I loved the characters and the storyline mostly.
My miff was the over use of heartfelt sentiments (throughout) rather than the focus on the plot. The ending was a disappointment....I was hoping for something more shock worthy.... I'm not put off though, I need to find out how if Julia and Ryan get their HEA
Must Read Best Love Story of 2012 Loved this book #2 of this series even more than book #1 if that's possible At the end of book #1 I was left shaking, so thankful this book #2 was at the ready. I immediately had to start reading this book and I don't think I took a breath until at least the third chapter. Call me a hopeless romantic but I loved loved loved these books and can't wait for the final installment of this wonderful love story!
The Remembrance Trilogy are my favorite books of the summer. It is heartfelt, heart pounding, take your breath away romantic. I laughed, cried and was on the edge of my seat through the entire book. I am so excited for the 3rd book and cant wait to see what Kahlen Aymes has in store for Ryan and Julia. This book was a roller coaster ride of romance on ALL LEVELS never wanting it to end. You will not be disappointed and must read!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favourite book!! This love and passion they have for each other Is so deep and mesmerising!! I never realised I had so many emotions Neil reading this book! I was up, I was down, I was happy, I was sad!! Iv never read , seen or heard any two people to be that deeply in love with each other!! Even through the rough times you could see the love shining out from Ryan! Can't wait for book three.. I'm eagerly waiting on the edge of my seat!!
I always read reviews of books before I download them and this was on an Amazon thread that I am addicted to. So before I wrote my review I decided to read some of the reviews on here, and I have to say they sum everything up that I feel about this book. I have to say I gave this book 4 stars because I really did like it, in fact I more than really liked it, but as some of the reviews on here have mentioned it was slightly repetitive at times, and whilst I adored both the main characters after the beginning which was so full of emotion and angst the rest of the book just didn't quite live up to it. However I thought the story is so beautiful and the love between the two characters is so powerful I did find myself with tears in my eyes at times. I love Kahlens writing and the descriptions she uses so I can't wait for the third book.....but I have to say maybe it should be left where it is...... it already seems to have a HEA to me!
LOVE IT!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 3RD BOOK. I ADMIRED RYAN'S PATIENCE AND I SO LOVE HIS VOW. RYAN'S VOW--->>> breath and prepared myself to completely lose it. When I spoke, my voice shook, but the love in her eyes was so reassuring. “My beautiful Julia. You are…the most stunning thing I have ever seen.” I watched her reaction to every word, and when her lower lip began to tremble, I had to stop for a few seconds as my own emotions welled up. “I can’t comprehend what I’ve done to deserve someone as wonderful, giving and amazing as you. The fact that you have chosen to spend your life with me confounds and humbles me like I’ve never been.” The first tear slipped from my eyes as two fat drops finally spilled on to Julia’s cheeks and tumbled down her face. I cleared my throat for control. “From the moment I laid eyes on you, I’ve known that your gorgeous face…is the last thing I want to see this side of heaven.” She closed her eyes as more tears squeezed out. I felt myself breaking yet I pressed on through the tears and the crack in my voice. “You were meant for me and I’ve loved you since before either of us was even born. Everything about you calls to me and I want to protect you and give you everything in my power to give you. I would lay down my life with just a word from you.” Her fingers squeezed around mine as she gasped, trying so hard not to sob out loud. I could see her struggling, her throat constricted and her chin visibly trembled. “You make me want to be a better man, to be more than I am…for you and you alone. This mad, mad love that we share is…a truly immeasurable a gift…the most precious miracle of my life.” I had to stop then and fight for control. I glanced down at our entwined hands and I rubbed my thumbs over her fingers again and again. This was much harder than I’d ever imagined. Not the words, but holding in the emotions that they stemmed from, was impossible. “I promise to be your husband and everything you need me to be, to take care of you and to love you with all my heart, to worship you with my body. With everything I am, I love you and I am yours, now and forever. I want your time, I want your love and I want your children…I want you, always. To tell you that I will love you forever can never be enough.” The tears were rolling down my face as her luminous eyes burned into mine. I watched the tears spill from her eyes as I said the last part of my vows, “Forever will never be long enough to love you, Julia.”
This book really start off well from the last book. Julia is in the hospital and has lost her memory and doesn't remember Ryan.
Ryan is tormented because he literally lives and breaths for Julia.
He befriends her and she feels him in her heart and its soooo sweet. Sort of bitter sweet for him. He tries to put his feelings for her aside to help her remember him.
Their love is so much of a crazy love that he fights himself interally not to touch her. She starts falling for him naturally as they are clearly soul mates.
This story is really sweet as it is about unconditional love, so much so that it gets a bit Nauseating!! Lol so much of 'oh u perfect' 'oh I love you so much' 'Oh I can't breathe without you' You get to a point that the love becomes too much and Ryan pushes her away in order to help her remember instead ends up making her want to leave!
He finally gives in and they make love and memories start coming back to her. He doesn't want her to remember loosing their baby for the fear it will make her recovery worse. But it doesn't... They get married- obviously! Then the way they would wine about how much they love each other gets too much. Ryan graduates med school and moves to New York. Then the perfect couple start their perfect life. U almost want to get past it to see if she really remembers. She does eventually and knows they lost their baby.
In the end years later their love still drowns each other and they say its time to make a baby. Don't get me wrong I loved their love story but it got toooo much! The sonstant ache for each other. Its definately a book because this shit doesn't happen! Not in real life. I liked that this is the first 'clean' love story- no sorded pasts or anything. Took a little long to end 'cos they kept having sex and having these love outburts.
I wish a love like Ryan was real... Almost gives us all hope!
Overall Thoughts: This is easily one of the most tender and moving books I've ever read! I feel like I've been to hell and back with Ryan and Julia. It's like their troubles became my own and their triumphs made me victorious... crazy, I know but true!
Don't Forget to Remember Me picks up right where The Future of Our Past left off. A vicious car accident has caused Julia to forget some of the most important memories of her life and the most important person in her life, Ryan Matthews. With advice from Julia's doctor, Ryan regrettably decides to play down their relationship in front of her even though it pains him to do so. As time progresses, Julia finds herself falling back in love with the man who is said to only be her best friend, and Ryan finds himself pulling away from her for her own protection. Can the two lovers survive when every memory they've ever shared seems to be lost forever?
What I liked about this book: Calling this book emotional and a tearjerker would be the biggest understatement of the century. I cried so much that I had to constantly remind myself that it wasn't happening to me, and that it was fiction. I feel like I know Ryan and Julia personally, as oppose to them being made up characters.
The plot is detailed and brilliant in every way. The characters were passionate and emotional. The story was extremely tragic yet romantic, and just... the epitome of genius.
What I disliked about this book: I felt super lonely while reading this book! Reading about Ryan and Julia's relationship and how completely consumed and obsessed they were with each other, made me want to reevaluate my own love life!
Verdict: This is an absolute must-read in my opinion! I honestly have no idea how Aymes is going to outdo this book with the last installment of this trilogy, A Love Like This.
I loved book 2!!!! I love caveman Ryan!!! I love their continued love an commitment. I would love for book 3 to stay true to this as it is the foundation of their love!!! No matter what is thrown at them their LOYALTY is what makes their story so special. I feel both their live and pain. I hope book 3 taps into their in order for us to see how they really felt when they first met. You can sense so much secret love and pain during the time they were "best friends". This has been an amazing love story to read and I can't wait to follow their journey. Although I am sure there will be obstacles for them I can only hope their once in a lifetime love will overcome anything thrown to them.
Ryan and Julia takes you in a roller-coaster ride of emotions in this book you'll be able to know their love story on a deeper level. Although it is sometimes hard their story will show you a kind of love we always want for everyone. The commitment they have for one another and support they give to cross everything that crosses their path in order to conquest everything and find each other again is amazing. I'm sure it will never disappoint and you'll just straight into the next one, just to keep them close to your heart for a while.
An emotionally gripping continuation of The Remembrance Trilogy! This book dives deep into love, loss, and healing with raw intensity. Ryan and Julia’s story is heart wrenching yet beautifully hopeful a true rollercoaster of passion and resilience. I couldn’t put it down and was left breathless, aching for the next chapter. A must-read for fans of deeply moving romance.
This review is very similar to the one I posted for Book 1. Again, I really wanted to give this story more than 3 stars, but I couldn't and that bothers me because this story was one of my favorites in its previous life in fanfiction. One thing about reading a story while it's a Work in Progress in the fanfiction realm is that there is a period of time between the chapters being posted, but when you get the opportunity read those chapters nonstop, well, different emotions can surface. Julia and Ryan are still lovely and their struggle to connect Julia's history with her current state of amnesia is heartbreaking and stressful. To some extent, I think the plot could have moved at a little faster pace. Maybe I was just anxious for Julia to regain her memory and for her life with Ryan to pick up where it left off before the accident.
Again, as with Book 1, the verbal devotions between them were close to becoming overly sappy.
Honestly, I think Books 1 and 2 could have been combined. It's a really lovely story but I think it could have been condensed and the reader would not have lost the strength of Julie and Ryan's love.
