Trapped in the basement, he doesn't remember who is, but he knows he's a monster and that he stole somebody's soul. That somebody wants it back. Would you accept the Gift?
I was an IT professional for twenty years before deciding to lead a more creative life. I have always loved the idea of writing novels and had written four when Long Lost Song came along, demanding to be published.
A Store Manager during daylight hours, I try to write when I can. I am currently working on a high fantasy series, a cat detective series inspired on an idea from my daughter, and a few stand alone novels. I have a few books now completed in my back pocket!
Reading this was a delightful surprise. I was pulled into this little tale as soon as I read it. It is one of those reads that you can enjoy with a quick cuppa or in a bath. I found it had the right ingredients in the right amounts - just engrossing enough, just exciting enough and just enough information for an enjoyable tale. I would read more by this author.

This was disappointing as I thought the story idea was inventive and interesting. Unfortunately, the writing was muddled and the story became flat. It wasn't helped by numerous typing and punctuation errors. I really think, had this been worked on a little more and edited to a higher standard, it could be very good.
i found this quite interesting. very descriptive and full of info. the theme was different and new. it reminded me of "The Host" novel written by the author of twilight, where these beings would takeover or possess the human they take leaving the older body that they had but a dead shell. good short story
The Scientist is a well written short story. The author did a skillful job in displaying emotion and pain. This story made a good short and I feel would make a great novel or even novella. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. - Posted on behalf of J.S. Turner
