Am I the Problem? #3

Obnoxious Bad Boy

Rate this book
Tl;dr: Am I the problem for hooking up in secret with the local bad boy? (Everyone thinks I hate him)

I [20M] am an accomplished pre-law student with my life mapped out for me by my parents. One day, I’ll be a respected lawyer, but in the meantime, I’m enjoying college, writing shameless gay smut, and getting absolutely zero action.

But I do have a crush. On the most obnoxious local bad boy [25M] and the exact type of person I shouldn’t like. He’s a tattoo artist, an ex-burglar, and, worst of all, an influencer. He’s ripped, inked, and his ice-blue eyes pierce my heart (even if he did once spill coffee on my laptop and was very mean about it).

He’s also straight and I hate him because I can’t have him.

Or so I thought, because one day, when he notices me, my world spins out of control, and my morals go out the window. I’ve always been the skinny pale nerd with no flirting game, but to Vex, I’m his sweetie, his baby boy, and his eager plaything. I can’t help but love it.

But he doesn’t want to come out, my trust fund is on the line, and I’m falling for him all too fast. This was supposed to be a no-strings-attached arrangement, so I shouldn’t want him to be my boyfriend. But I do.

Am I the problem for trying to get more than he’s willing to give? Or is he the problem for dragging me into this?

Addendum:
If my parents find out I’m seeing an ex-con, they’re gonna kill me.

“Obnoxious Bad Boy” is an enemies-to-lovers, steamy, opposites-attract romcom where a snotty nerd gets the bad boy of his dreams and has to deal with the consequences of their hush-hush relationship.

Will our nerdy protagonist find the courage to fight for what he truly wants, or will he lose everything he holds dear? Don't miss out on this scorching hot enemies-to-lovers romcom that will leave you crying with laughter!

While the books in the series share a setting each can be read as a standalone.

“He is the hottest piece of ass I’ve ever laid my eyes on, and the kindest, sweetest partner I could dream of.”

We have rich boy and nerd Aaron, who is a pre-law student. He’s quiet, follows the rules and never strays from the path his parents set for him. He loves writing gay erotic fiction, calligraphy, horse riding and Vex. Tattooed bad boy and social media influencer Vex has been the centre of his focus, even more so after the coffee incident. He hates Vex but also wants him and to his surprise he learns that Vex wants him too.

Vex is a tattoo artist and after his mugshot went viral, he capitalized on his fame to ensure he will always have a roof over his head and will never have to go hungry. He’s gay but due to the number of female followers, brand sponsors and knowing his 15 minutes of fame can end at any time, he’s scared of coming out publicly. He’s attracted to Aaron and wants him but does not do relationships.

I was looking forward to Aaron’s story since book one, so I was so excited for Obnoxious Bad Boy.

Aaron takes pride in his looks and intelligence, but at the same time, since he’s a virgin, he has had some self-esteem issues but seeing him grow and gain confidence was lovely. Having a man like Vex attracted to and desiring you does help. I also loved that he could be himself with Vex.

“Turns out his interest in art isn’t superficial, and that he likes going to museums whenever there’s an opportunity for it. He cooked for me, listened to me talk about the book I’m reading, and doesn’t laugh at my penchant for gay smut.”

I honestly adored Aaron and he was so relatable that it was scary. I loved getting a peak into his wild thoughts which were hilarious at times. He’s also such a romantic and really fell for Vex.

Vex being insistent that their relationship was just physical and nothing more was just silly since he was also falling for Aaron. I also found him being upset that Aaron didn’t want his parents to find out about him ridiculous because he was the one who wanted to keep their relationship on the down low in the first place. However, I am glad he came to his senses.

“I really like you, Aaron. You’re the best person I dated, and I hate myself for hurting you. Earlier today, you were right. I should have stood by you and taken responsibility instead of thinking about myself. I’m so sorry.”

Overall I had such a fun time reading Obnoxious Bad Boy, this book is my favourite of the series so far. It had all the humor, steam and I just adored Aaron and Vex. Loved seeing the Rainbowology crew, Logan, Kyle and Matt as well!

Devon Doe’s stories and characters give me K.A. Merikan vibes, like what if they wrote sweet romantic comedies? I’m already excited for Kai’s book - Straight Crush - can’t wait!

Obnoxious Bad Boy is a fun opposites attract romance featuring a "nerd" and "bad boy. " I really enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Vex and Aaron. These two are so different aesthetically, but their personalities are so adorably cute and sweet, making for a wonderful low-angst romance.

Aaron was hilarious in his inability to comprehend how or why Vex would have any interest, so Vex's wooing and forcefulness were fun to see. Aaron and Vex have a complicated relationship due to a variety of reasons and I really enjoyed the resolution to their main issue. Their a fantastic couple and I loved reading their story.

Small town, opposites attract rom-com.

Obnoxious Bad Boy started off a little rocky — very insta-lust with zero tension or build-up between the characters. I was very close to DNFing at first, and I still don’t know for sure if it was worth sticking through til the end.

It had some charm: the characters were quirky and cute, the small town ‘everyone knows everything about everyone’ vibes are always OTT and somewhat fun, and the steam was okay.

I definitely enjoyed the middle portion more than the beginning and the end.
Once we get to Vex’s POV things start to get more interesting, what with the secret dates and hookups, but not interesting enough to make up for the ending.
The ending was extremely abrupt and unsatisfying.
How Vex went from terrified of coming out, to just blurting ‘let’s go public’ was so out of left field I have whiplash.

Overall, it’s pretty on par with the rest of the series, but for some reason I enjoyed it much less.
Objectively, it would probably be less than 3 stars, but my gut says 3 so 3 it shall be.

Tropes and NSFW info (spoilers):
- small town
- Size difference
- Opposites attract
- MC with tattoos
- Strict top/bottom
- Virgin MC

“When I’m with him, I don’t want to be the smart guy. I want to be the brainless sex doll he uses however he likes—legs spread on command, mouth eager to swallow his load.”

Aaron’s story!! Our lovely quiet nerd who practically lives at Rainbowology writing queer erotica gets seduced by the local bad boy tattoo artist, Vex 😍😍😍

Opposites attract, secret hookups, first times, DRAMA, and humour make this such a fun read.

They both have reasons for keeping their relationship a secret and while I think Aaron’s are much stronger than Vex’s it does put them in some fun scenarios and create quite a lot of drama in the end. Their chemistry is amazing!! They both have some pretty high walls to tear down. I won’t spoil the ending but I really loved how it all worked out in regards to Aaron’s family.

Definitely can’t wait for Kai’s book - this is a fantastic series of queer romcoms 🥰

I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.

Devon Doe. That pendulum has swung way out there my friends. Not bad. Not bad at all. It's like Jekyll & Hyde do When Harry Met Sally. And well I might add.

Not a fan of the sneaking around but I get it, at least for 'my boy' and his no doubt hefty trust fund.

Vex the internet influencer annoyed me. The fact he's also an ex con and a really good tattoo artist I found hysterical.

Our boy's are left poorer yet enriched by the fullness of their luv. The money will come later.

I'll have what they're having. 🩷

Aaron and Vex had great chemistry. It was easy to see how compatible they were despite their differences. They just made sense.
I'll admit to being more than a little frustrated at the drama late on. Their decisions had me scratching my head.
The resolution was well done, though I would have had Vex grovel more, and I loved how Aaron's friends rallied around him.
Opposites attract, first time, coming out, found family, and a whole lot of steam. Obnoxious Bad Boy could easily be read as a standalone, though characters from both books make an appearance. Aaron's friendship with Matt is adorable

I was waiting for Aaron's story since he appeared in the first book: his dynamic with Matt was hilarious and I liked Aaron immediately. We also knew he disliked the tall tattoed boy who spilled a drink on his laptop.
In this book, finally Vex starts talking to Aaron and apologises for that incident, offering to do a free tattooo. This is the beginning of their secret relationship: both of them have their reasons, Aaron has to become a lawyer according to the path his parents set for him and Vex is playing the straight boy role to gain more clients and to have financial stability.
Their hookup arrangement seems to work fine, but Aaron, who's never had a boyfriend and maybe is a little naive, starts feeling more and craving for Vex to aknowledge that they're boyfriends.

Vex's walls are up, though, and he deeply hurts Aaron: first flirting with every woman who approaches him, then forgetting something very important. And in the very dumb tentative to make up for his forgetfulness, he hurts Aaron even more.
Poor Aaron, he was left alone to face a lot and I really really despised Vex for it: saying "I was always honest" doesn't give you the excuse to behave so carelessly.
What annoyed me really much was that Aaron forgave him too easily: Vex should have groveled way more than an afternoon and Aaron shouldn't have let him in is life again so fast.

Anyway, I loved that Aaron found out to have good people looking out for him: Levi, Kai and Matt were very protective and supportive.
The epilogue is lovely and I hope we'll see Aaron and Vex again in the following stories.

This is one of those books where you just have to read it. It’s book three and it can be a standalone but my advice is to read all of them.

1- Oblivious Roommate
2- Not My Groom
3- Obnoxious Bad Boy

Devon Doe brings so much humor and sooo much heat to these books. I love a book that is lighthearted and just FUN. Laugh out loud for real, fun.

Vex is our bad boy. Felon, tattooed, tall, built, owns his tattoo shop. He comes from a rough, poor background. An incident taken the wrong way leads to him becoming a social media influencer. Complete with thirst traps and all. His following is strong with women and as such, he is closeted. But, Aaron has been on his radar for a couple years he just isn’t sure he is gay also.

Aaron is an artist working on his law degree. The law degree his parents are forcing on him. When Vex sees the gay romance novel Aaron is writing he knows he should make his move. And of course it’s hot. And of course they want more. Can Aaron keep their relationship secret? Is he comfortable doing that even though he is not closeted?

The chemistry between these two is off the charts HOT. Their growth and the power of their feelings is equally fun and frustrating. You kind of want to punch Vex a few times 🤜🏼😵‍💫 but you also get to see his softer side.

If you like your romance stories with a lot of laughs and a lot of heat this is for you.

Waaaaahhhhhhhh! It's so good! Precious Aaron gets himself a slice of the tattooed bad boy of his dreams. Such a great book and so many great descriptions and hilarious moments. And we even have Matty giving advice, which was surprisingly good 😂 it felt like a growth moment? Vex is low key obsessed with Aaron and I love it, while Aaron has a bit of a confidence crisis he knows he's a specific taste, we get a few Vex chapters (yay dual pov!) explaining Aaron in the most amazing ways! Definitely one to read, it has rom com vibes and lots of great characters and plot with a side of smut and incredible dirty talk! My favourite of the series so far!!

Vex was an asshole, I don't understand how we were supposed to be on his side. What a way to lose your virginity; asshole. What a way to spend your birthday; asshole. What a way to constantly be taken for granted and belittled; asshole. Not at all fulfilling.

Tropes: bad boy/nerd, first time, kinda one-sided enemies to lovers at first, secret relationship
Feels: 4/5
Steam*: 4/5
Kinks: there were a few kinks
Angst: low
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content themes: third act breakup, internalized homophobia, bad relationship with parents, assault, being kept a secret and it hurting a bit

Aaron is 20 and he's at college studying to be a lawyer because that's what his parents want. He comes from a really wealthy family. He has a horse. LOL. He's a bit awkward, he's a bit of a nerd, he has a fashion sense that is unique, he's a virgin. He's a rule follower. But secretly he's kinky, he has a passion for writing gay erotica, he likes writing calligraphy. He wants something different for his future. He secretly crushing on Vex.

Vex is 25. He's a bad boy. He is an influencer and tattoo artist. He has gone to jail for trespassing in the past. Vex is pretending to be straight in public but he's secretly gay. He's been interested in Aaron for months, he sees how attractive he is, how interesting and likeable he is.

Aaron has been pretending not to like Vex and he's had kind of a public hatred / considered him an enemy when as far as the rest of the public knows Vex is oblivious to his existence. Vex makes a move one day and they start hooking up. They hook up for months in secret. And it really becomes a relationship and everything but name. They genuinely enjoy each other's company even when it's non-sexual. They make cute boyfriends. But Vex won't let Aaron call it boyfriends and he won't come out. And it starts hurting errands feelings. Initially he was fine with hooking up only but this is more, he's feeling more. There's a third act break up, Vex is dumb.

I liked this book. It was an enjoyable dynamic, it was entertaining, there was steam, Aaron was fun to watch seeing the nerd become a cool kid while staying himself. They were so compatible. It was kind of annoying how Vex was denying the relationship. It was a light read, not intense or angsty.

Some notable moments:

"I miss watching weird old movies together and the way we always had something interesting to discuss. Most of all, I miss the way he’d hug me with his whole body, as if I was the only island left in the middle of a stormy ocean. I mattered to him as a person."

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

I have been looking forward to this book since the first in the series, and it did not disappoint! (I am so thankful for indie publishing schedules that meet my feral need for more books by this brand-new author!)

Aaron is single with his only outlet the smutty fiction he writes. Vex is the local tattoo artist and social media influencer he’s publicly scorned to friends and acquaintances. But Aaron is also harboring a crush on the tatted hunk, and when Vex offers him a free tattoo to make up, Aaron jumps at the chance for some one-on-one time.

Instead of ink, Aaron punches his V card in the dirty, sexy manner he craves. Then what was going to be a one night stand turns in to a regular arrangement that meets all of Aaron and Vex’s sexual needs.

But there are a few problems: Vex isn’t out publicly because he depends on his straight women fans to support this thirst traps and book him for tattoos. So he isn’t interested in an open relationship, which leaves him and Aaron in a limbo about their relationship (are they dating? Who can know the truth of their fucking? Can they interact at all in public?) To top it off, Aaron’s parents deeply disapprove of Vex, who has a criminal record and comes from poverty.

As their relationship deepens, they both have to reckon with what their willing to give up to be together — Vex his fans, sponsorships and clients; Aaron the approval of his parents and the trust fund they keep hanging over his head.

First of all, Aaron has popped off the page since he first appeared. He’s had main character energy from the get-go, and this is the dirty, sexy love story he deserves. He’s witty and confident but deeply romantic (while also craving filthy, filthy things in the bedroom). Vex hasn’t had much time to shine, but he proves himself to be intellectual, thoughtful and much more than his sexy exterior (but also very willing to get down and dirty with Aaron and dominate him the way Aaron craves.)

Second of all, and I think it’s been clear so far: this book is sexy as hell. It’s the spiciest of the series so far, with Vex and Aaron having immediate chemistry when they get on the page together. Their sex is scorching hot and on-page a LOT. It’s amazing, and I am truly impressed such a new author has such a command on how to write really amazing and affecting sex scenes.

And most of all, this was a super compelling read! I couldn’t put it down (but who’s surprised? Devon Doe keeps on with the Ws.) Each book has its own vibes that fit the couple’s voices, so they don’t feel repetitive, but at the same time, this series feels cohesive. There’s a snappy cadence to it all that makes each book a fast read in the best way. They all flow so well and there’s not a dull moment across the board.

I can’t wait to read what comes next!

Genre: MM Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone Book 3 from Am I the Problem? series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

On the surface, Aaron Astor couldn’t stand the sexy tattoo artist Vex, who wronged him. On the inside, a secret lust had been brewing. But things were about to stir when he found out the feeling was mutual.

This one was an easy, light-hearted read. I liked both Aaron and Vex and how they each had to make choices that are right for them. They had great chemistry that made for hot sexy scenes.

Obnoxious Bad Boy is a story of hidden desires. It would appeal to readers looking for a quick, light MM romance.

Really glad I got to read Aaron’s book, like most other reviewers I have also been waiting for his since he was introduced in book one. He and Vex start and friends with benefits situation but on the DL due to Vex’s business but Vex starts acting boyfriend-y and confusing Aaron and giving him ideas. It did kind of annoy me that Vex continued to say that he told Aaron what the situation was but he definitely still wanted to have his cake and eat it too. It all blows up spectacularly during the same night when Vex forgets something important and then they make a really stupid decision to make up for this. I would literally call Aaron ‘dickmatized’ by Vex and I think he should be entitled to compensation, for as much as his higher thinking skills go out the window when it comes to him. It does seem like it will work out in the end to their mutual benefit, but I’m glad they threw that out the window.

I do want to note, one of my biggest gripes is how dumb the author makes Matt. There is a difference between naive and dumb. And the word choice here is not mine. But I digress.

They do get their HEA. Aaron thinks as well he has no friends except Matt and his horse Snowley but that’s not true either as there is a great cast of supporting characters as well that I can’t wait to see more of.

Okay, so this book was entertaining. Not quite funny enough to be labelled a romcom, but I enjoyed the writing. The premise is that a pretentious and nerdy virgin has the hots for an ostensibly straight bad boy tattoo artist, and as his luck would have it, the bad boy is not straight and likes him back. I enjoyed the relationship dynamic of the horny naïf and the worldly stud. They had pretty good chemistry if I am being honest. Aaron, our nerd, is a bit of a snob, but is pretty sweet under all the trappings of his middle class upbringing. Whereas I fucking hated Vex. He had this easygoing vibe, but he is an influencer, and so everything he does is seemingly to maintain the image he has created. For this reason, he insists that his thing with Aaron remain secret and casual, all the while throwing out mixed signals like ninja stars. He really treated Aaron badly, to the point where I would have been thrilled without a HEA between these two. So this is a case of a decent book with a trash MC, if you enjoyed the previous ones in the serious, probably you'll like this one too.

ENEMIES TO LOVERS SIZE DIFFERENCE!

I absolutely love this series by this amazing author and I love the fact that the previous characters makes appearances right throughout the book to support Aaron!

I was impressed with the character development of Vex and Aaron!
They just brought something special out of each other! It was so sweet how their friendship helped each other by breaking down walls and accepting each other’s flaws and then they get oh so steamy and kinky…

Their journey was not easy as Vex must stay in the closet for his fans and sponsors and Aaron has controlling parents who forbids him from seeing Vex after an unfortunate incident which causes Vex to hurt Aaron which leads to them breaking up…

Will Vex make the same mistake he made with his ex and keep Aaron a secret or will he realise love is more important than fame and money?…

I look forward to Kai’s story finally!

Absolutely love these two. They both have something to lose if the world finds out about them. It's a secret they're willing to keep, until it isn't. There's passion, drama, and so much steam. Even though their past had Aaron believing the worst, Vex wasnt on the same page. When their lives finally cross again, it's fireworks. They learn they have so much in common and want each other equally. But nothing that feels this amazing, or seems so easy, stays perfect. Their lives are changed one night and it completely reworks their relationship. Because of this, we see how they navigate those changes and do what's best for them. I was hooked from page one. I adore this series so much and can't wait for the next book.

The bad boy and the innocent, not at all a new concept but, again, it works. These two have their struggles but following along was entertaining. I found it sad that Aaron’s family were so callous but the relationship these two have formed is strong. The story kept you reading and they garnered your loyalty. The happy ending was shadowed somewhat by the parent’s unkindness but overall it was pleasant and you find you’re rooting for them. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

3.5 stars for me. This was a cute opposites attract read and I enjoyed the nerdy Aaron and the bad boy tattooist Vex. I have enjoyed the other characters in this series and it was nice to see them pop into this book as well. This book took me a bit to get into but I was glad to see this journey to HEA.

Idk, I feel so strange because I really loved Aaron, he was super sweet and actually made me cry a couple of times.

But, I hated Vex so much, he was so selfish and I wanted to punch him in the face every time he said something about not wanting a boyfriend but did boyfriend things at the same time.

I mean, Aaron was out and proud, but basically he wanted to put him in the closet again, and he was so innocent that he believed this shit:

"It doesn’t matter that hardly anyone will know about our relationship, because what counts is how we feel about each other"

With dashing style and a sparkle, Aaron Astor is a straight arrow and wants to please his parents, but he is also infatuated with Vex, a bad boy influencer who appears to be his opposite. Because of his past, Vex is focused on making his tattoo business as successful as possible yet Aaron is such a pretty temptation.

“He sees me for who I really am – a greedy thirsty bottom in dire need of a good dicking.”

Narrated in dual POV, Aaron and Vex have an immediate attraction. Though Aaron is sweet and Vex can be himself with him, he also doesn’t want to jeopardize all he’s built. This leads to conflicting feelings and Vex must come to terms with what he want in a relationship.

Knowing this was going to be a sweet romance, the dynamic between Aaron and Vex provides for some sexy times. I really liked Aaron and how Vex called him his baby boy. Toward the end, I was hoping for some resolution with Aaron’s parents, but was glad Aaron found his way.

Obnoxious Bad Boy is about forging one’s own path. This book would appeal to those seeking a light and sexy romance.

Firstly, let me say I got this book from gay romance reviews, and this is me leaving my honest reviews.
Wow, I’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed this story on so many different views you’ve got Vex who is bad boy tattoo artist who is an influencer which all the girls love. And then you’ve got a 20-year-old Aaron who is at college to become a lawyer, because if he doesn’t his parents are going to withhold his trust fund. As parents they excepted he was gay ( but if honest will never happy about it ) but wanted to set him up with an ideal boyfriend, who held prestige and would be on the same level of fortune and of pedigree.
Aaron head fancied vex for a long time, and he went to the coffee shop, mainly just to catch a glimpse of him. It’s a typical story of a gay boy, lusting after a straight man or is it?? Because out of the blue Vex offers to tattoo Aaron to say sorry for spilling a coffee on him and wrecking he’s laptop. But what power and didn’t know at the time was Vex had already seen. He’s gay smut novel that he was writing on his laptop so knew that Aaron was definitely gay. This is when Vex made his move, but on the understanding that they had to hide the hook ups because no one could know he was gay for fear of losing his business and he’s followings online. Would this work out??

That is all I’m going to say because I don’t wanna give too much away. Vex has a past that will just sadden you and Aaron, although born into Money never felt worthy of his parents. But together these two are insatiable. They cannot keep their hands off one another. It’s the connection that is really special in this book. Believe me the passion, how my kindle didn’t burn out I have no idea, but it’s a level of being you, no frills, just being you and being accepted for who you are. I think I could read another 10 books about their life because I’m absolutely gutted I’ve come to the end. I’m really great read can’t wait for the next book I think that one is going to be a humdinger.

This is book 3 in the "Am I the Problem?" series. This is Aaron's story.. You don't have to read books one and two to understand this book, but helps with your understanding of who Aaron is.

Long story short, Aaron had a love/hate relationship for Vex, the local bad boy who owned the tattoo shop in town. During Aaron's freshman year, while sitting at a local coffee shop, Vex stopped by and ended up spilling coffee on top of Aaron's laptop... not once apologizing for it! His bitterness for the tattoo shop owner lasted this long, along with the secret crush for the same man as well.

Vex became an insta-celebrity after getting arrested for breaking and entering. His fame has allowed him to settle and open up his tattoo shop. However, with fame comes stipulations: He has to stay in the closet in order to keep his clientele. Everything would be fine, except his infatuation with the cute boy from the coffee shop, Aaron.

When circumstances happen that lead to an apology and invitation from Vex, Aaron takes the opportunity to get to know the tattoed bad boy. What comes next is anything but easy.

I wanted to like Vex, but his selfishness made it hard for me to. Aaron was so selfless in his relationship with Vex that sometimes it made it hard to root for him also. But I believe that Aaron deserved more, and Vex didn't do enough to be deserving of his love in the end. Hence why I gave this story such a low rating.

I have read all 3 books so far in this series, so I will continue the series. I just hope the character development is much better than this one.

I received a copy of this book from GRR and this is my honest review.

Devon Doe is a new to me author and a pretty good one at that. But, after reading the first two in the series, there is an underlying ... toxicity... that crawls through the novels and it gave me a negative gut reaction when I read the novels.
Did I stop reading them? No. Does that make me a masochist? Probably.
I can't really place what it is that gives me that gut reaction; I just know that whenever I set the novel down to deal with real life, my brain had to evaluate all the characters' motives.
This novel may be the exception, but just barely. Aaron and Vex's relationship was toxic from the start because of the hiding and sneaking around that Vex thought he had to do. Through all of it, though, Vex was very sweet to Aaron, but made it clear that neither one of them could be involved with each other. Aaron had his trust fund to worry about at first, but when it became clear to him that his parents only wanted a trophy child, he finally let go of trying to be the perfect child.
The novels have a quick character epiphany that takes them from just mediocre feelings toward each other, to hot and heavy. It felt forced in the other two, but this one wasn't as much of a snap decision as it was a mutual pining and a realization during some hot sex.
Overall, the series is a fun read, and I'm enjoying the characters from previous novels blending in with the characters of the current novel.

I have been waiting for Aaron's story since the start of this series when we met Aaron, I liked him during the first book & the friendship he had with Matt was amazing & I was looking forward to reading his book.

𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒂𝒛𝒚.

We had heard Aaron bitch about Vex in Book 1, how he hated the hot bad boy & everyone around him knew about the story of their first meet ( the coffee spill ). I liked Aaron & Vex's chemistry & the banter. They had opposite personalities & it was amazing to read about how their relationship went.

Aaron & Vex start their relationship as friends with benefits & also keep it a secret from everyone around them because Vex didn't want to come out yet & ruin his brand reputation. Though I didn't like how Vex left Aaron alone to deal with the fallout & how easily Aaron forgive him but I loved it when Vex didn't keep their relationship a secret after they started dating for real & he was the one to suggest that they make their relationship public, I was very happy for them.

This book was amazingly written & loved it so much. Looking forward to Kai's book, he is my other favourite character in this series.

I’m actually in two minds about this book so my review will probably reflect that. On the one hand, the chemistry between Aaron and Vex is steaming hot and there’s no doubting that they really want each other. I also really liked the way in which Vex encouraged Aaron and gave him the confidence to become more ‘himself’ around other people and particularly with his parents.

However, the whole in the closet and flirting with other people thing niggled at me. I could well understand Vex’s dilemma – if you are selling a product, you give the people what they want. And I would imagine it’s incredibly difficult to make a life-changing decision, especially if you’ve seen it go sideways for someone else. All that being said, there were more than a couple of times when I was side-eyeing, and his lack of support to Aaron during something pretty big made me very unhappy with him.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the previous two but this book has solid writing, excellent chemistry between our leads and of course, the background characters we are growing to know and love. Not my favourite but well worth a read.

I received an ARC from GRR.

Aaron and Vex. For me, there was a lot that was good about their story and some things that were downright frustrating.

Let’s start with the good: these two have powerful chemistry and watching their kind of opposites attract vibe is lots of fun. They have different aesthetics, approaches, and life experiences, but they just fit together. Also, they’re each really likable in their own ways, and I say that even though I spent a fair amount of time annoyed with one of them (more on that soon). There’s also a solid cast of supporting characters, and they add a lot to the story.

The frustrating: some of Vex’s choices are hurtful and selfish, and the easy forgiveness he’s granted was unsatisfying. Aaron deserves better. There’s a lot of drama that perhaps could have gone down differently, and while that rides the edge of engrossing/overwhelming, it tipped a bit too far into the overwhelming category for me a few times.

Overall, however, I’d categorize this as an enjoyable and interesting read, and if the blurb appeals, definitely give it a try.
