Trouble Vision

Rate this book
In quaint Finn’s Harbor, Maine, cousins and best friends Clara and Stephanie Quinn run The Raven’s Nest bookstore. But thanks to Clara’s ability to read minds and see the future, selling books sometimes gets shelved in favor of saving lives...

When the new mayor calls a press conference about the controversial hotel resort being built on the edge of the city, the residents of Finn’s Harbor have an opportunity to express their concerns about traffic and tourists. But when the debating turns into outright fighting, Clara gets a premonition that’s nothing but trouble.

While Stephanie is enthralled with her cousin’s vision, Clara just wants it to go away. Then a customer comes into The Raven’s Nest talking about a fatal fall at the hotel’s construction site, and Clara knows better than to ignore her Quinn Sense. In a town full of citizens who want the project to fail, Clara and Stephanie have to figure out who made the jump from anger to murder...

In this third book of the series, A Raven's Nest Bookstore Mystery, we find our main character and psychic visionary, Clara Quinn, having a vision of a man being killed at a construction site. The mystery begins as the killing is formally recorded as an 'accident.'

Clara works for her cousin, Stephanie at the Raven's Nest, a bookstore featuring books and ephemera surrounding the paranormal. Clara has inherited the family 'vision' known as the Quinn Sense.

Clara and Stephanie, with the help of assistant, Molly, go off to investigate for themselves when the local police chief refuses to acknowledge their request to investigate further. Clara's talent is a secret, even from her Mother.

This book is improving with each novel. As Clara talents are gaining strength the storylines are also. I'm finding the story more interesting. I'm a bit weary of Stephanie's constant envy of Clara's abilities, but do enjoy the budding romance of Clara and Rick.

A good cozy paranormal murder mystery.

It was fine. A good cozy. I am not sure i like the characters so much. Loved the dog. More paranormal needed.i expected more juice. This was the first book in the series I read so i will not trace my steps an dread the first two. But i am not averse to giving the next one a try to see if there is improvement in character development.

Though I enjoyed the plot and the characters in the this installment of the Raven's Nest Bookstore Mystery series, I was a bit surprised to see Clara's "Quinn sense" so much stronger in this novel. She's actually seeing ghosts now, which is a big difference from the previous novels in which she simply felt a sense when a certain topic was discussed, or got a shiver when she thought about someone who might be dangerous. I'm happy to see Clara and Rick finally getting closer, but still disappointed by how Stephanie has to lie to her husband about where she's going and what she's doing. I also found it slightly odd that Stephanie's husband was planning for an anniversary that wasn't included in the novel.

Book #3 of a cozy series set in Finn Harbor, ME and centered around cousins Clara and Stephanie Quinn who work at Raven’s Nest Bookshop. An accident/murder and then a bank robbery along with the small town in an uproar over a resort being built made an interesting storyline. Typical cozy – easy to read and author gives you enough history about the characters that you do not feel lost, but I don't know if I would go out of my way to read the other books in the series.

Clara has what is known as “Quinn Sense” and she things and visions and she realizes the construction accident and bank robbery were connected, but she and Stephanie need to investigate more to solve the crimes.

I found Stephanie (store owner) annoying – all her phone conversations involved yelling at her kids for their behavior or worrying about leaving her family at dinner time while she was out and about gathering clues. She did not want to be left out of the action!

Small Town characters with a bookstore theme and murder thrown into the mix. There is also a bank robbery. Which Clara quickly figures out the two things are connected.

TROUBLE VISION is the third book in the Raven’s Nest Bookstore Mystery series, and it’s probably my favorite so far. Clara Quinn helps her cousin Stephanie run the town’s Edgar Allan Poe-ish bookstore that specializes in the paranormal. In addition to bookselling, the cousins have a knack for solving murder mysteries, with a little help from Clara’s “Quinn Sense.”

Before, Clara’s woo-woo gift of clairvoyance has been all over the place, but now it’s getting stronger and more focused. When a construction worker is killed at the site of a controversial new resort project, it’s deemed an accident, but Clara’s visions tell her otherwise. The tricky part is convincing police that it was murder without exposing the family gift, which means it’s up to the cousins to find solid evidence.

This was a quick and enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery. I love that Clara has psychic visions, but they don’t tell her everything. She still has to track down and eliminate suspects, piece together clues, and somehow figure out how it’s all related. The police chief is stubborn and doesn’t want to listen to Clara’s theories, so she has to be persistent and present strong evidence. Of course, sometimes that gets her into trouble…

I absolutely love the Raven’s Nest Bookstore and the quaint coastal Maine town. It was also fun watching Clara’s romance with the hardware store man heat up. (It’s about time!!) I’m ready to go back to Finn’s Harbor.

Stephanie and Clara are cousins who run a bookstore, The Raven's Nook, in a tourist town called Finn's Harbor Maine. Stephanie is a wife and mother while Clara is single, living with her mom and a dog named Tatters. She is interested in a guy named Rick who owns the hardware store across from the bookstore. It is a nice, normal existence except Clara has something called "The Quinn Sense", the ability to see visions of people and what has happened to them, including murders. When a friend of their's husband is killed Clara has a vision of his death and insists the fall was no accident. She and Stephanie begin to investigate the accident at the extreme disapproval of the chief of police Dan. But Clara keeps getting fleeting images of Scott and knows he is trying to tell her something yet she can't give away her ability to know how he died so she has to convince Dan by finding evidence to prove her suspicions. There are a lot of twists and frustration as the cousins work to solve the crime and the final pages will make your stomach tie in knots. Moral of this very entertaining and original mystery: Always have your cell phone charged and with you and check your messages often! :) Can't wait to read the next installment in this wonderful series! A worthy addition to the Berkeley Prime Crime family.

Trouble Vision is the 3rd book in the A Raven's Nest Bookstore Mystery series.

An enjoyable series set in Finn's Harbor, Maine centering around a bookstore owned by Stephanie Quinn, with her cousin Clara Quinn who has a bit of an ability to read minds and tell the future. At times, much to her displeasure.

Finn's Harbor is starting construction on a new resort. A lot of the local residents are firmly against it and at a progress meeting, vocally expressed their displeasure. At this meeting Clara has a vision of something terrible happening and the next day the construction foreman falls from the top scaffolding and dies. It's ruled an accident and without disclosing her special talents, Clara and Stephanie have to start sleuthing on their own. Then a bank robbery and another vision.

This series has some very likeable characters and most everyone is back from the first two books. For the most part Clara and Steph are pretty cautious in there their sleuthing, all though Clara did push it this time. But once again the dog is the hero.

Looking forward to the next book

This is number 3 in this Raven's Nest mystery series. Clara and her cousin Stephanie work at and own Raven's Nest, a bookstore in Finn's Harbor, Maine. Clara is gifted with the Quinn family talent of being able to read minds and see the future. Although she had moved away so she did not have to deal with this "sense" she didn't want, she's back home and only her cousin Stephanie knows she has the ability that she herself would like to have. The town is in an uproar about a new golf course and hotel being constructed on the cliff. Protestors march and chant against it while some people welcome the boost to the town's economic status. When a construction worker dies at the site and his death is ruled an accident, Clara knows different as she saw a vision where he was thrown off the scaffolding by two people. She knows it was murder and it is up to her and Stephanie to prove it. The problem is how to let the police know things she sees but cannot prove. I liked the other books a little better than this one but it was entertaining.

In Kingsley’s mystery novel, a new hotel resort is under construction in Finn’s Harbor, Maine. Unfortunately, no one in the community is happy about it. Cousins and best friends Clara and Stephanie Quinn attend the meeting when Clara gets a premonition that suggests danger. The following morning a customer enters the Raven’s Nest talking about a fatal fall that occurred on the construction site, and Clara now realizes that the Quinn Sense is in full operation. In a town filled with people who want the project to fail, Clara and Stephanie set out with the Quinn Sense as their guide as they team to find a killer before he can strike again.

A delightful winning addition to the cozy paranormal mystery series, A Raven’s Nest Bookstore Mystery.

Clara and Stephanie hear about a accidental fall at a construction site for a upcoming resort. Others are happy with it and others aren't. Then Clara finds that it wasn't an accident. The cousins find this might be their toughest case yet.

So far, I think this one's my favorite in the series. And I think I found a new favorite author as well. I had a big smile on my face, reading this, seeing the characters again. And of course a moment happens with Clara and...

Anyway, this is the third book in the series and I loved it. The last two I gave 4 stars. But with this, I found myself reading this than the other books I had in my reading pile. Also who wants to give that loveable dog, Tatters a hug? So basically, really good sequel.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It had earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

A hotel construction worker is killed by falling from a scaffolding. The police say it was just an accident but Clara "Quinn Sense" is telling her it was murder. That's all it takes for Clara and her cousin Stephanie (who wishes she had the sense) to start investigating. The cousins haven't learned from their last two escapades that sticking there nose into murder investigations isn't healthy. Even though this story has the same premise as the last two, the interaction between all of townsfolk including the progression of Clara & Rick's relationship kept me reading. I will definitely be reading more books in the series to find out what happens between Clara & Rick and if Stephanie's "Quinn Sense" ever kicks in.

I like this series. It's a little repetitive and takes a while to get moving but, all in all, it's a fun series. Clara Quinn works for her cousin at her bookstore. She is in possession of the 'Quinn Sense', a psychic ability which in her case causes visions that guide her to the truth. She doesn't really like having this ability while her cousin, Stephanie, would love to have it. The two of them, along with the third member of the bookstore team, Molly, stumble through to solve mysteries the local police won't.

I keep going back and forth between 3 and 4 - we need 1/2s. I didn't read the first 2 in the series, and I am not a big fan of paranormal, but this was a cute, quick read. Clara is the reluctant recipient of visions, and together with her cousin Stephanie set out to prove that what was deemed an accident really was a murder. The ending was a bit disappointing, but Tatters is great!!!

Enjoyed this book as much as the first two in this series! A mysterious death in a small coastal New England village, the Quinn sense, and a pair of loveable cousins work together to create a fun cozy mystery by Allison Kingsley. There is more mileage with this cast of characters. Looking forward to the next one. :o)

I really enjoy the way that Stephanie and Clara work together, supporting one another in everything that they do. Everyone should have someone like that in their life!

I adore Rick and Emma as a couple, I think he is exactly what she needs after everything that has happened in her past.

I look forward to reading more novels in this series!
Especially with Tatters!

I like cozies and I'll forgive a lot of ridiculous (see book 1 & 2 in series), but I have to have some respect for the main characters. There wasn't any here for me. When you hope that a main character gets murdered, its time to walk away; p.21 and I was out.

The story is very well written with no clear idea of who the bad guy is until the end. I really enjoy books that keep me guessing. I really like the author is continuing to develop the characters so they grow. I look forward to reading more.

I love cozy mysteries but this one didn't do it for me. I felt the characters were shallow, the plot luke warm and the story line interrupted by nonsense. I'll pass on any further books in this series. Just seemed too cutesy for my taste.

This story never grabbed my attention. I thought of not finishing it but I had less than 100 pages to go. The story takes an interesting turn just 20 pages to go. I didn't see it coming. So I am glad that I finished it.

Dan, the sheriff talking to Clara about her and her cousin getting involved in trying to solve the crimes... "Stupid, maybe, but ..."

That kind of says it all about these two main characters!
Storyline was not bad, but these characters were so annoying...

This is a silly who done it involving 2women who work at a bookstore, one who has a sixth sense, trying to solve a murder. No o e could possibly believe how they get their info and try to convince the police chief to believe them. Of course no one knows about the sixth sense, just silly.
