He played the wrong game.
The song of preacher, college basketball star Sean "Sylk" Ross prayed that God would get him in the NBA, until he started playing games of love and power. Then the way to fame was leading him toward a mistake that could send him straight to hell...

She never looked back.
Lies, drugs, too many men-- golden skinned singer Topaz Black would do anything to get a hit to the top of the charts, even walk away from her friends and family. But surrounded by greed and lust, the love the longed for seemed to be slipping away forever.

He broke all the rules.
Brought up in South Central L.A., movie producer Gunther Lawrence learned early how to get the wealth and women he wanted-- and to turn his back on his roots. Now, blinded by Hollywood's glitter, his illusions may shatter when he discovers who really controls his career.

As their lives touch, ignite, and explode, three talented African-Americans pursue fame at any cost...and the price may be their happiness...or their lives..

I read this book about 8 years ago and i really liked it. i just recently read it again and still like it i reread it cause i had found out a 4th part came out and i like to have everything fresh in my head. i like the fact the book wasn't just about drugs and money but it was about young African Americans with dreams and what they did to achieve or not achieve. it was a very different book and i really enjoyed it both times i rad it. i recommended reading the hardcover version because it doesn't seems as long as the paperback. the first time i read it was with a paperback and the book seemed very long and it ripped. over all it was a very good book don't want to have a spoiler alert so i really don't say much about the book but to just read it.

Read this in high school, a page turner that you cannot put down. I love stories where the characters go from one book to the next and Sheila Copleand is one of the best authors when it comes to that. Can't wait to see this book turn into a movie.

I read the books out of order, but I enjoyed going back and seeing what caused them to act like they did in later stories.

Excellent plot with a Christian subtext! Definitely a tug-of-war between the flesh and the spirit.

The first in a series of 4. I love each segment. So gossipy and soap opera-ish! Keeps you interested.

I like this book. Topaz will remind you of Beyonce, Mariah, and several other divas in the headlines
