Wacky New Animals seemed like an obvious choice for the animal lover in Paige. It is a nonfiction book with amazing photographs of newly discovered animals. There are sections that cover mountains, oceans and jungles. There is even a section that details discoveries made by a child. The book hook is the amazing photographs. I'd show her the picture on the front and let her know that the frog on the front is see-through. There are some of these see through frogs where you can actually see their hearts beating. If she wants to know more interesting facts about wacky animals she'll need to read the book. It is an intermediate book that might cause some problems with some of the harder scientific words but I think her interest level would get her reading it at home where she could get additional help.
