This is an Amish Fiction, and this is the 4th book in the Discovery series. This is a very short book but very well written. I loved all the characters, and I love the story line. This is a simple, but there is a lot of drama in the story line of crossed all six books in this series. This is a series that you really need to read all the books in order.

I enjoyed reading The Pieces of Summer, but I don't feel like all that much happened in this story. I hope there is more drama/intensity in the next book. I am glad that Luke woke up and hope that he remembers who he is soon.

Per my original Review i still feel the same way about this book as i did 5 years ago!!
Rating: 5 Stars!!
Review:
This was my first time reading this book and series by Wanda even tho ive read 2 other Series' by her but im really starting to like her books more and more.

The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. Meredith was definately my favorite since i really felt for her with everything she's going through.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in Philedelphia and Bird-in-Hand PA especially when the scenery was described since My Parents and I vacationed there a few Summers ago.

Overall a Good Book 4 in This Amish Fiction Series!! Can't wait to read more by Wanda in the future!!

This would have to be the climax book as each of the storylines are reaching their peak. I do wish these books could be a bit longer so it could go more in depth with the characters. Despite this, I did enjoy this one as well as the others and I will be reading the next one soon!

2020 Update:

Actual Rating: 3.5

I am enjoying this more the second time around than the first. As each book progresses, you get to know the characters more; find out who is actually likable, and who is just downright not a very nice person.

In all actuality, Brunstetter paints an accurate portrait of Amish people and how they're not all that different in terms of personality than "Englishers" (their term for anyone not of the Amish or Mennonite faith). Before I moved to the Lancaster, PA area, I always thought of Amish as very friendly, nice people, and while the majority are, there are some - mostly young women - who can be very...unfriendly, and downright rude. They will talk in German in front of you and you just KNOW that they're saying very not nice things about you.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this book via Netgalley, but I listened to the audiobook via my library's audiobook app. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Don't let my three star ratings of this serial steer you from this series; I am enjoying it! I'm just not really liking it nor do I love it.

The Pieces of Summer, by NY Times best selling author Wanda E. Brunstetter, is the fourth installment in the Lancaster County Saga. It is a fictitious Amish Christian romance, but you do not need to be either to enjoy this story.

In this installment, Meredith is still reeling from the loss of her husband, but life goes on. It is clear in this book that Jonah is interested in Meredith, and the whole community seems to be aware of it also; specifically Meredith's mother-in-law, who goes out of her way to ask Jonah to stay away from Meredith.

"Eddie" wakes up. Physically he improves, but he still has a long way to go mentally. At this point he still doesn't remember his life prior to winding up in the hospital.

The story ends with Meredith's water breaking at the most inopportune time...

I love these little novellas, and I look forward to reading the 5th installment! Brunstetter does not disappoint!

Clearly my favorite Amish series ever. Each book in the series leaves you with a cliffhanger of some kind so you can't wait to start the next one. This one left us with a cliffhanger about the baby.

I am enjoying this series of books about Luke, Meredith, and the seasons of their lives. Just as the seasons change - we grow older and our life “seasons” change. Two more to go!!! 💕

This is part 4 of 6 part series.

Sometimes these books are somewhat predictable, but yet it is somewhat comforting. Sometimes I just need light-hearted Amish book.

In the Pieces of Summer, emotions fly.

Jonah starts to move in on Merideth. He starts to help her more and more. I feel like he started to make the moves on her to quickly.

I didn't like how Meridith was getting a little whiny in the last book, but I would not have let a man move on me that quickly after my spouse dies.

I do have to admire Jonah for how he handled himself when things get tough at the creek.

Sadie really overstepped her bounds if you ask me! I understand that she wants to protect her son and his memories. That doesn't not give her the right to tell people what they can and can't do or can and can't date.

I was so happy to see how much better Luke was getting! I felt it was kind of unprofessional that Susan started to get feelings for him. I know, I know feelings don't always follow the plan though.

The end of the book was exciting though!

I am falling in love with the characters in Wanda Brunstetter's 4th book in The Discovery-A Lancaster County Saga. Meredith and Luke are dealing with what appear to be insurmountable hardships. How will they ever get back together? I can empathize with the young nurse who seems to be falling for Luke and the young Amish man who is in love with Meredith and hoping to marry her. God can turn the impossible for us into the POSSIBLE though, and that is the message of the book series to me. I was once again left hanging from the cliff at the ending!! I am chomping at the bit to read the next book!

I find that this book is missing alot about the Amish culture as other books have been able. Probably due to the fact that this book is set in two different locales. I still wish that this had been one book and not a serial publication. People will enjoy reading this book but only if they have read the previous books in the set. I want her husband to remember who he is but that will probably not happen until the last book and by that time his wife will be engaged to someone else.

Jonah is definitely trying to get Meredith ready to consider him once her time of mourning comes to an end, with the way he's constantly around her. I understand why, since he's been interested in since they were younger, but he should really give her space to grieve.

I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.

Luke continues to improve, but has not yet regained any of his memory. His nurse, Susan, seems to be developing strong feelings for Luke. Meredith is busy preparing for the baby and has come to rely on Jonah for help. Will Luke's memory return? Will Meredith's baby be a boy or girl? Will Meredith's feelings for Jonah grow from friendship to love?

I can't lie, found myself skipping through a lot of bits of this one. It got mildly exciting near the end with her going into labour, but most of the middle dragged on. Is her mother in law ever being ridiculous though, I mean she is a grown woman, and if she wants to move on someday it's ok!

Jonah has been helping Meredith around the farm, until he breaks his ankle. Luke's mother does not like this. Luke wakes up and starts his recovery but he doesn't remember anything.

Part 4 of 6 in the mini-series
Meredith is still pregnant and her mom arranges for other women to stay with her so she's not alone. Jonah is /still showing interest in her. Her sister has a secret. Eddie/Luke has awaken from his coma but cannot remember who he is or where he is from. He is almost ready to be discharged from the hospital but where would he go?

Eddie/Luke has finally come out of his coma and soon will be discharged from the hospital. He still has no idea who he is or where he came from.

This one was just as good as the first three. I am excited that Meredith is about to have her baby but it would be better if it wasn’t alongside the road.

I am hoping that Luke will remember her or she can move on with Jonah if he doesn’t. I really thought Laurie was interested in Luke by the way she was acting but it was a shock to find out that she had been seeing someone already.

I am intrigued to see where things go from here.

Summer comes to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Luke comes out of his coma but still hasn't recovered his memory.

Meredith's attitude has improved in this book compared to the previous one, but her mother-in-law now seems to be the one with a (somewhat) bad attitude.

It seems I was wrong about two characters possibly being set up by the author to pair up later--then again, who knows . . . it might still happen since the one's beau is not a church member.

Riveting

Another winner by this author. I still get hooked with the cliffhanger and can't wait to do my review so I can get to the next book. Even though I've read other books by this author and I know bits and pieces of what will happen to the characters I'm still not completely sure how it will turn out. I am excited by the way this author tells about the characters. All her books are winners. That you can be sure of.

Again I enjoyed this story of loss and grief, along with waiting for a newborn. I voluntarily chose to review this clean, Amish, story and I've rated it a 4.5*. Lots to enjoy in this, but again the big cliffhanger. I finished one and a half of these books in a evening. On to the next.

I see the direction the author is going with both Meredith and Luke. Felt like there was actual forward momentum in this book and didn’t feel like a filler like the previous book did. The time has now come for Meredith to give birth! And of course it’s a cliffhanger ending.
