Being a Brother and a caretaker isn't an easy job, especially when you find yourself coveting the one person you were meant to protect but never have- your brother's woman. That is exactly where Behr finds himself- in love and out of luck. Nothing a little killing can't remedy. While looking for a little trouble to take his mind off what's brewing at home, Behr finds the perfect distraction: hunting down the mythical Rage demon prowling his city's streets.
Lost and alone...
Cheyenne doesn't know what to do with herself. Weeks have passed with no sign of Erias, and as far as she knows, he's dead. Just when she resigns herself to the difficult task of moving on with her life, he reappears, but the Erias she knew no longer exists. He's a demon, the very thing he and his brother's hunt each night. Can Erias overcome this transformation and find the strength to make it back to Cheyenne and the Brotherhood, and if he does, will they accept him? In a world plagued with uncertainty, only one thing is definite: no matter how it ends, someone's heart is bound to get ripped to shreds.
Brandi started writing poetry, short stories, and novels at a very young age, weaving tales to share with her friends that were geared toward making them laugh. Today her writing habits reflect that, ranging from mystery/suspense/thriller to paranormal and YA romance, and no matter how different her works may be, you can always find a healthy dose of action, romance, and humor. Under the pen name J.C. Valentine, she also writes erotic romance fiction.
A longtime resident of Ohio, Brandi lives with her husband, three children, a dog and five cats that keep her very busy. She holds a degree in Business and has plans to continue her education so she can one day become an editor to authors everywhere. When she isn’t crafting her next novel, toiling away at schoolwork, or hanging out with family, you can find her curled up in her favorite chair with her nose buried in a book.

I received a copy of The Warrior's Betrayal from the author in exchange for an fair and honest review, so here goes. I read the first book in the Brotherhood series awhile back and reread it before starting this one so I could remember all the details. This one picks up shortly after where Darkness and Lies left off. Cheyenne and Dhestroy are both staying with Behr, her to recover form the kidnapping and losing Erias and he to try and acclimate to the 21st century. Together the three of them form a tight knit group until Behr starts to have feelings for Cheyenne and starts to appreciate having a woman to come home to. Cheyenne meanwhile is waiting for Erias to escape Hell while Behr believes he won't.
My favorite part of this series honestly is the characters and the minor ones at that. I loved Lucifer, that's probably wrong of me...lol but I found him the most interesting and he was the only one who could put Persephone in her place and it was great fun to watch. Persephone was as bitchy as ever and continually had her plans thwarted by the Brotherhood and her husband and her temper tantrums were great. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Dhestroy coming to terms with the modern era and the enigmatic and quiet Allistair made me want to read more about them. The main characters though not so much.
The storyline in the beginning really dragged on it wasn't until we found out what happened to Erias did my thinking go from "god is anything going to happen to ...hmmm what's gonna happen next". Most of the beginning was really a day in the life of Erias, Cheyenne and Dhestroy and didn't really move the plot along. While I found Behr interesting in the first book in this on he kinda came off as well...whipped for lack of a better word. The love triangle never really worked because I never got a sense that Cheyenne ever wanted him in that way. Cheyenne seemed oblivious to the fact that Behr wanted her as she kept crawling in bed with him and cuddling with him for comfort, it just didn't work for me.
I like the way the romance was spread out over two books for Cheyenne and Erias, that was unique and no big cliff hanger ending this time for which I am grateful...but I would have liked to have seen some indication of what's going to happen next in the series. Will there be another book, who will be the love interest that kind of thing. The series still does remind me a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. One other thing to note this is not really a stand alone book, you need to read the first one to understand what is going on that's why I went back and reread the first book. All in all I did like the book and will grab the next in the series if it continues.
By the end of the first few chapters I found myself wondering how in the world this novel could possibly end well for those involved without taking a serious nosedive story wise. With all of the twists and turns Salazar managed to surprise me, ending with everything as right as could be hoped for, while still leaving the story open for a sequel. On top of this, the story held me captivated throughout.
In this installment of the Brotherhood series you get to know some of the characters even better than you did in the first. Every random comment that pops into a character’s head makes it into the book. It makes the characters seem very real while filling the reader in on their personality quirks. The stereotypical narcissistic behaviour that Persephone exhibits also becomes even more apparent in this novel. Of course, I’m sure that most gods and goddesses are narcissistic after living a few millennia.
Salazar doesn’t put a lot of emphasis on scenery in her descriptions. The details are in the story itself. Bit by bit everything is revealed which prevents any long narrative sections to slow the story down. Salazar is also a master of dropping the tidbits of information and back-story when necessary. She doesn’t leave the reader wondering or left alone to fill in the blanks
One thing that I should say is that this is definitely a novel where you should read the first installment in the series. It’s not absolutely necessary, but it provides a great deal of context for the storyline. Without this, there would be a few muddy spots in the story.
This book was an amazing follow-up to Darkness and Lies. In many ways it was more captivating than its predecessor. I cannot wait for the sequel to be released.
First and foremost I feel that I have to warn anyone thinking of reading this book that it is imperative that they read 'Darkness and Lies' Book 1 of the series first. This book is a continuation of the first and as I discovered you are totally lost if you try to read this one first.
I'm finding it impossible to review just this one book therefore I'm not even going to try. Both of these books are the story of Cheyenne & Erias, I'd like to say romance but I don't really feel that I can. The focus just isn't on a romance and most of the time these two are at eachothers throats. Honestly, I expected her to end up with Behr or at least a triad. Afterall she's certainly gotten to know Behr better. I truly wish that there'd been more scenes with C&E and less with Persephone & Luc. In this one I actually skimmed quite a bit through the scenes with P&L. ~sigh~
I guess the best way for me to say this is that while I did enjoy these two books I wish they would have been more...
