This was a surprise 'like' for me - it was a recommended read from a friend, but the theme of zombies didn't fill me with any great hopes... not when I'm usually a romance junkie! But, as I like to break away from my preferred genre every now and again, I thought 'why not?'

In my assumptions regarding this genre, I now stand corrected. I actually enjoyed a zombie story! ME! The style of this author's writing may be more 'pared down' than I'm used to, but that actually suits the plot perfectly. The prose and dialogue set the scene of high action and horror/violence edged tension, working in tandem with the charaterisation to keep me turning those pages (or rather, pressing the 'forward' button on my kindle).

Oh yes, and don't forget what happens in that first page or so - I nearly did, amongst the later events... but I still have questions. I guess I'll have to read on to get the explanation of THAT scene.

There's some clever writing going on here.

The best recommendation I can give this initial 'pilot episode' is that I've already purchased the other episodes. This is horror with added DEPTH... something I hadn't expected to find.

I picked up "Outpost Pilot Episode: Season One," from Amazon for FREE! Normally this book sales for $0.99, but you better grab it up while the gettin' is good! Everyone loves free books!

After being introduced to Finnean Nilsen Projects from my contact at Authoright, I have become a fan of theirs. The authors have done a wonderful job at spinning a tale of Zombies, evil Nazi's, crazy scientist and kick ass U.S. military.

With this book, it may only be 62 pages long, but as a prequel to a disgusting and horror filled series, it's a must read. This short story sets you up with how the Zombies are attacking in what I presume is modern time. You will find yourself thrust smack dab into the middle of how the CDC and government is handling the outbreak. You also get an insight of how citizens are reacting to what is going on and the craziness that is about to explode into a worldwide epidemic.

Be prepared for a nauseatingly great read!

What a good start to this series! A zombie outbreak and a remote prison filled with hard-case prisoners. A tough warden who will do anything to keep his prison safe from the zombie hordes. The episode is short, but the writing is very good. Try the pilot episode and see if you agree.
