Nikolai Georgievich Mikhailovsky (Russian: Никола́й Гео́ргиевич Михайло́вский, 20 February [O.S. 8 February] 1852 – 10 December [O.S. 27 November] 1906) was a Russian writer and essayist, locating engineer and railroad constructor. As a writer, he published under the pseudonym N. Garin (Russian: Н. Га́рин), and since his death has been commonly referred to as the hyphenated Garin-Mikhailovsky.

It took me over a month to finally finished N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky's "Gimanzists". I read it for so long because it was a desk book before bedtime, so I didn't read it more often than I read it. As a result, I just forced myself to finish it, because I was bored with it. Although the writer is excellent, the teenage world of his childhood was not to my liking. All the arguments, conversations, worries, and hopes of his main characters, though they caused sympathy, made me feel longing and irritation.
