Amanda is going on another adventure! This time she is visiting her friend Leah in England. Amanda is having a great time seeing all there is to see in London! While Amanda was visiting a castle in England, she notices a boy running away with a book under his arm. Amanda learns that the book is a rare novel that was stolen! Amanda is determined to find the book, find out why it was stolen and return it. With the help of Leah and a new friend Rylee, Amanda goes off on another adventure around the great country of England.

I am a fan of the Amanda series and I think this book was another great adventure! The action in the book is great. Ms. Foster writes very exciting books that are good for all ages to read. I really liked learning about London from this book. I think that’s what I like the most about the Amanda series, you learn about the location the book takes place in. The Amanda character is a great heroine and I think boys as well as girls will really like her. Amanda is a modern girl who a lot of kids can relate to. I can’t wait to read the next adventure Amanda goes on!

**NOTE I reviewed my own copy of this book.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Amanda in England: The Missing Novel is book three of the Amanda series by Darlene Foster. Written for middle grade readers it is a quick-paced easy read.

Amanda is a curious adventurous twelve-year-old whose friend in England invited her to come for a visit. Having a love of travel she happily accepted Leah’s invitation.

From the time Amanda arrives things begin happening. One thing leads to another, and she finds herself involved in the mystery of a missing valuable book. Young readers will enjoy the antics and escapades of Amanda, Leah and two local kids they meet as they encounter a strange acting lady, run into trouble when two men chase them, and try to keep all the trouble they’re in from Leah’s parents. While following Amanda readers will also be learning a little about some of the sites and sights of England.

Darlene Foster has written four books in the Amanda series so far. If you want to read my review of her first book in the series, go to Amanda in Arabia: The Perfume Flask.

This is the most recent, and best in the Amanda series. A charming, short book perfect for children or adults.

My son, Michael (aged 11 years old) and I read this book together. Michael loved this story. We have recently travelled to England and he was quite delighted to read the descriptions of the old buildings, London Eye and Tower of London, all of which he has seen and can relate to. I have a collection of antique and vintage books which I treasure, so Michael could understand the value of an old book and why someone would think such an item was worth stealing. In this story, Amanda makes some new and interesting friends and there is a subtle message about not judging a person by how they look and speak which I liked. Michael was also delighted by Rupert, the cat. He was most interested in Rupert’s role in the whole adventure.

I was delighted to discover a copy of this novel (in ebook form) at my local library. I have followed the author, Darlene Foster, on her blog for quite some time. This young adolescent fiction is the third (out of eight) in the 'Amanda Series.' These books are a wonderful way to introduce children to a diverse range of travel, surrounded by mystery and adventure. In this case, the reader is immersed in England with many of its famous historical sights. It made me nostalgic for my many times there.
It's not too late to pick up this ebook for any young adolescents on your Christmas list. Although part of a series, it also works well as a standalone.

‘Amanda in England’ by Darlene Foster is another adventure of Amanda who goes to England to meet her friend Leah. It captures the attention of children right in the beginning when a vintage book – ‘ Vicky and Alice’ goes missing. My grandchildren were eager to know who took the book and why. We kept turning the pages to get an answer to their questions. They even tried to guess who could have stolen it. It was a fun read!

Darlene takes care to keep the children engaged in various activities and uncle Charlie’s cat Rupert provides a lot of excitement. Her characters are likable and Amanda’s determination and confidence is exemplary. Besides exploring old buildings of London, the story conveys some profound messages. A lovely book for children!

I’ve read several Amanda books now—they’re short, fun reads with interesting details about the places she visits. This one had a lot of great descriptions of England, from shopping at Harrods to witnessing the changing of the guards. It brought back memories of when I spent time there. Via this fast-paced book I enjoyed riding high on the London Eye, learned to sail a boat, and even learned more about the Beefeaters and the seven crows that live in the Tower of London. The mystery of who is stealing valuable books from a series of fictional children’s novels is very well done with several surprises at the end. There is also a large, fluffy, very clever cat joining Amanda and her friends in this volume’s escapades!

Darlene Foster’s “Amanda in England: The Missing Novel” is a delightful addition to the Amanda Travels series. Whisking readers away on an exhilarating journey through the picturesque landscapes of England. What a glorious book for me to read. This book had me in England along side Amanda.
