I got these years ago and this is a great series by a great writer, if you can find them. Boyer's books are hard to find now as they seem to have gone out of print, but if you can track them down...they are good reads.
Sadly, I found this to be the weakest of the series and made me wish that I had really stopped reading after "The Troll's Grindstone" because then I would have been left wanting more, rather than disappointed.
I found the book chaotic and rushed. It felt as if Boyer had grown tired with the series and simply wanted to finish it. Perhaps her publisher was pushing her to write faster. I don't know.
This is the final entry in Boyer's 4 part series which began with "The Troll's Grindstone." The story arcs Leifr, Gotiskalker, and friends are brought to a rewarding, and perhaps surprising, conclusion. The second and third books did seem a bit drawn out in parts, but this book moves well. Boyer's style is back.
