My thoughts: I just finished this book and let me tell you that I liked it very much!!
Love Lines is a beautiful story, full of mystery, magic, friendship and love, and the world created by Diana Nixon is so beautifully imagined, that from the moment I started reading it I remembered the baby Bonnie (aka me), at the age of twelve, when I first opened a Harry Potter book. This novel brought me the same feeling of warmth and joy.
The story begins when Eileen, after growing up like a normal girl for almost eighteen years, finds out from her best friend, Amanda, that she has magic in her blood and the only place where she can learn to master them in the University of Dever.
“Don’t freak out, Eileen. It‟s okay, we should go with her. It’s safe.” Really? I smile ironically to myself. Is this one of those times I shall just nod wordlessly and follow Amanda wherever she’s heading for? Apparently, yes.
Haunted by strange dreams and not even sure if she can trust all the things her best friend said, Eileen follows her to the famous school, where she reunites with Christian, Amanda's older brother. After their first touch, the strong connection between them becomes immediately visible.
“Hello, Christian,” I replied, offering my hand awkwardly in response. What happened next just couldn‟t be explained in simple words. As our hands touched, I was shocked by an invisible electric discharge. The lacy lines of my dreams began to bind our added hands; because of this my heart skipped several beats, and the tingling on my shoulder turned into a feeling of warm and very gentle touch of someone's hand.
But Eileen isn’t eighteen yet, so she can’t attend the courses of the University. That’s when Evan, Christian’s best friend and one of the best students of Dever steps in, becoming her tutor. With his and Christian’s and Amanda’s help, Eileen discovers her powers, and her origin along with them. She also makes some new friends who will stay by her side. And as the new facts come to the surface, those involved realize the great danger that Eileen will be in when she turns eighteen.
“Really?” I asked doubtfully. Was there anything I still could call as good news? “Yes. As it was expected, the beginning of your studies has been suspended for a month. But instead you have to go through special training.” “Oh, and who will do this training with me? Alexis?” I wondered. “No. Me,” Evan smiled happily. “You?!
The mystery surrounds you at every step and the action turns upside down when you least expect it. The fact that you get to see both Christian’s and Eileen’s point of view makes the story even more interesting. We also get to see some really nice romantic moments between them.
"Have I already Told you how beautiful you were today?" "Apart from the FEW hundred times? No, "she said turning to face me. "You were the most beautiful flower this evening. No masterpieces of Embry CAN change this fact, "I said leaning over to kiss her lips.
The ending is totally unexpected, but we finally find out who the villain is, and why our heroes have to go through so many bad thing. This ending left me with the need to read the second installment as soon as possible and I'm sure it will happen the same to you, when you get your hands on it.
He is your light, you are HIS darkness; just losing Him, Will you come to me.

I love the cover, it's simple, kind of has a certain connection with the story, but I initially thought that the book's genre is romance and it's not, it's better. It had mystery, secrets and funny moments. Have I told you about the mystery? I think that this is why I ended up simply loving the entire book. In the wold of "Love Lines" nothing is what is seems, there is nothing that you could categorize as predictable. Diana Nixon throws us in the depths of Dever a world that is not supposed to exist, not for ordinary humans anyway, creating new and exciting mythologies and legends based on the family founders of Dever. Every founding family had it's own supernatural gift and specific physical characteristics and each of the gifted kids go to a special college. Every part of the new world is so detailed described that there's no room for confusion, well maybe only regarding the villain, but it gets less confusing in the end. The relation between Eileen and Christian, even though is love at first sight is not the classical: "OMG he's so hot and I want him now", we are talking about a sweet and mutual trust relationship and I kind of have this feeling that the special bond between them is helping a little. I actually enjoyed this concept of two people who were in love and connected in at a certain level that they could feel what the other felt. I would like to talk a little about the characters. I think is the first time I've read a book and I like all the characters, including the villains. I still have favorites because it's in my nature, but I liked them all. Eileen is smart and evolves really fast. She is a good example of a character that has huge power and that power is not wasted. She learns how to use it and she is careful with it. She's not reckless and annoying throwing herself at every step in the face of danger and waiting to be rescued by the knight in shinning armor. Christian is sweet and takes care of her, and he feels bad when he lies to her which makes him even sweeter. Oh and if you didn't already knew this, the book is told from two different POV: Christian and Eileen. And even though I liked Eileen, I enjoyed more the chapters in which Christian was telling the story. And now as my favorite character: Evan. I liked his sense of humor, he was the only one that joked when things seemed to get worse (I recently saw The Avengers and Iron Man reminded me of Evan). He acts like nothing and no one could get to him. He knows his qualities and he is more than happy to brag with them. I also liked the chemistry between him and Amanda and the funny + smart dialogue they had. The villain part might have been the most surprising part of the novel. Like I've said: there is nothing what it seems to be. And I could tell you more, but trust me, is better if you keep the mystery. And dear Diana, the ending literary killed me. I ended the book and now I want more. So yes I will definitely try to read the second one because that ending is printed on my brain now and I need to know what's next. I sincerely recommend this book to you, even more if you are a fan to mystery and fantasy books. Ps: I received this book from Diana in digital format for review. Thank you very much. I enjoyed it from the begging until the end.
Hi everyone! Just wanted to add something about this novel. There are two narrators in the book - two heroes (Eileen and Christian) are telling the story one by one, chapter by chapter. Here is also a link to my Shelfari page where you can find more detailed information about the book - http://www.shelfari.com/books/2815698...
THE EDUCATION IN DEVER People get invitations to become Dever’s students when they are eighteen. All of the students have some unusual gifts that determine their attachment to a certain faculty.
DEVER’S DEPARTMENTS Fairey: faculty for the future Keepers – people whose main job is to protect the world of supernatural from the world of human beings. Its students possess the powers of fire and spirit.
Feta: faculty for those who read people's fates. Its students use a palm-reading method to see someone’s fate. They possess the power of water.
Meridin: faculty for the oneiromancers – people who interpret dreams. They know a lot about prophetic dreams and its significance. Its students possess the power of wind.
Ventura : faculty for those who can see into the future that has already been decided by someone. This differs Venturas from Fetas, who read only fate, but a person can change it, and this decision will be seen to any Ventura. Its students possess the power of water.
Vero: faculty teaching those who are able to distinguish truth from falsehood. Its students possess the power of earth.
Embry: faculty for those who have the gift to heal people. Its students know everything about all the plants and especially flowers, knowing the meaning of which, they can speak without words using different combinations of flowers. They possess the power of wind.
Wizardy: its students are taught to rule over magic. This department is a highest level of education in Dever. Only the best graduates from the previous faculties are allowed to enter this one.
The education on the main departments takes four years and at the department of Wizardy – three years.
All the graduates pass their final exams showing an individual performance using one of the nature powers. These performances are included into the program of the Festival, which takes place every October.
Love Lines is really a sweet book, I got to read it without knowing anything about it, I haven’t read anything about it, not even a single review or description, wich I highly recommend you to do. :D I wanted it to be a surprise and it fully worth it! Only the title succeeded to attract me, and it was enough to make me want to read it and then to love it.
The main character of this book is Eileen Clark, a seventeen years old(almost eighteen) girl from Norfield, that just graduated high school and who considers herself to be a pretty normal person, until the moment when some awful nightmares are disturbing her sleep several nights in a row. Considering her best friend’s advice, Amanda Fairey, Eileen goes with her at a fortune-teller, who seems to know about these nightmares. This so-called fortune-teller corrects the girls, calling herself not a fortune teller, but a Feta, a fate reader. Then she examines Eileen’s palm saying some none-sense about Eileen being born to be a Fairey family member. None-sense for Eileen, but not for Amanda, how we will find out about later.
The nighmares are still making their own way through Eileen’s sleep, so the surprises do. Eileen finds a letter of acceptance at the University of Dever, being forced to give up at her dream to follow the University of Sheffield. Things get better when she finds out that Amanda will go there too, and as strange as it may seem, they must go there immediately, because Alexis Wilde, the head of Dever, came after them personally. Before they arrive, Alexis explains to Eileen why was she accepted at Dever, and the truth is that she was never so normal as she thought to be. She possesses some supernatural powers, and Dever is full of this kind of students. There she will be able to train herself and to manage to control her powers. Not only that, but she finds out that Amanda always knew about this hidden world, and she was always a part of it, even if just from the edge. The Dever’s faculties are seven at number, based on the abilities: Fairey, Feta, Vero, Ventura, Meridin and Wizardy.
At Dever, Eileen meets Amanda’s brother, Christian, and they experience together new feelings. They fall in love and discover that there is a thin bond between them, that brings them even closer. That’s all I say, for now, but I asure you that this love story is so nice and well built, with interesting details about their so-called bond. :D Yet, even though Eileen came to Dever, she will start normal classes only after her eighteenth anniversary, until then she is being introduced in this world’s secrets by the amazing Evan Murray, that seems to notice how special Eileen is. It is good then that she has eyes only for Christian, her love. Her staying at Dever becomes even more pleasant, not only because of her relationship with Christian, but because she meets a lot of new people and friends, she discovers new things about herself, about her powers, her real father or why does she has to fear of some renegades of Wizardy, that are after her. Eileen is in the middle of the two parts that are shaping, the classical good and evil, the bad intertwined with the good, disturbing the natural order. But her strong character will defeat every evil, with the support of her close friends, because they have by their side love and light.
My opinion: Even though I had no idea what to expect from this book, I was surprised about it, in a very good way. The characters are complex, perfect to be loved, and I liked the way they were built, and the way everything was described. And the most important thing, Love Lines has passed all the tests with me, from the moment that succeeded to captivate me, at the very beginning. And that happens quiet rarely, in my case. :D Apparently simple, the story behind Love Lines hides many complicated things, that reveal themselves along the story. When you start to believe that everything is good, that Eileen discovers everything about her supernatural life and she finds her love, and normally, in every book this is the part where the story ends, in this book this is the part where the story actually begins.
Eileen is definitely amazing and special, not only strong, but clever at the same time. And Amanda is a sweet girl, that kind of reminds me of Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. At character, of course. And Christian is the perfect boyfriend. He is so protective and warm with Eileen, and his green eyes could conquer any girl. But my favorite character is(did I mentioned him before? Hmm… )definitely Evan. I love his character and his mysterious manner of talking and acting. What I liked about this book is the fact that I found so many symbols, like for example, the flowers and their meaning, the number 7, that becomes some sort of a burden, that strengthens the complexity of the novel. I have to say one single thing I didn’t liked. Even though I loved Love Lines, I would’ve liked more action, because the book is a little too static. But I can’t wait to see how everything evolves in Song of The Wind, and if my opinion is going to change. :D
If I had to associate Love Lines with other books, I don’t think I could, it’s unique. In a sea of great fantasy books, that exploits all kind of subjects, Diana Nixon has succeded to create an unique world, in which supernatural combines with love and a lot of romantic symbols, and that is to be highly appreciated.
So don’t wait much and start reading Love Lines, you won’t regret it! ;) :D
Dreams. What are really they? Some strange image of our most hidden wishes, pleasures or even fears. They are trying to make you do right, or not? However dreams are not the image of the future. Well, at least they are supposed not to.
Eileen Clarke has been having these strange nightmares: unknown voices, people, places and the same typescript. So her best friend, Amanda Fairey, takes her to fortune teller, trying to figure it out what those dreams mean. What happens there? Let’s just say that nothing expected. The meeting with the fortune teller just makes Eileen more confused and she can’t take out of her mind what she had told her: “Don’t be afraid of...” Not to be afraid of what?
The young girl will go through a lot, falling for a guy she barley knows, finding out more about something that happened in the past and will influence her future and confronting her worse fears.
And that’s how I saw the story begin. Love Lines is the first book of a set of five, written by Diana Nixon. A book that has really got to my heart – there were few books that have succeed to make me really enjoy a love story. Passing through the great cover - that really takes your eyes and makes you wonder what kind of love story you will find under it – you can find a balance among love and adventure. There is a really thin barrier between a good story with love, mystery and adventure and a simply, gray tale that has no essence. Diana Nixon shows that she knows how to build a great story, mixing very carefully all the ingredients that lead to something wonderful.
Eileen is the central character of the book, but there is Christian that seems to have a really important place in the whole action. And now comes the big question: Who is Christian? (Since we already knew who Eileen is.) He is Amanda’s older brother and someone really important in Eileen’s life, the boy that captures her heart. And there is another important character that you should be aware of: Even Murray, a extremely hot guy who will lead Eileen through the dark and a real support for all of them, Christian’s best friend. (And now something that probably should not be here in the review, but remember how good-looking are boys in books, especially the main characters, well imagine a guy that is that and a million times more hot and ladies and gentlemen – particularly ladies – I present you Even Murray. I am never impressed with a minor character, but this guy has totally won me.)
In this book you can find those mesmerizing moments that you lived in your childhood, you find yourself locked in the history of people, in a new world where there are some special peoples that have abilities hidden, kept secret. The reader is introduced in the history of Dever, an old university for those persons with unbelievable powers. There are seven families that have created this place so their children could learn about what they are capable of and how to control themselves. There are seven faculties as there were seven families: Fairey, Feta, Meridin, Ventura, Vero, Embry and Wizardy. What are their powers? Well that’s something that you will find out if you read the book.
Do you know how is to wake up one day and find out that most of the stories that your mom told you when you were a child have become reality? That’s what Eileen went through. She discovered that she has these amazing powers that everyone would kill for, a shame that does not know from who did she inherit them.
What a really enjoyed at this book was dual perspective: Eileen’s and Christian’s. It was really nice to pass from one to another, I haven’t time to get bored with on character and I avoided starting to hate the main heroine – something that happens to me sometimes when all I read is about her and her dramas. I discovered a real funny side of the characters, there were some moments when they stepped on each other’s nerves and that is when it gets really funny.
Another thing that I was surprised about was the real concern that Diana had for each of them. I mean I would not have lost my mind for Even if he wouldn’t have been so careful treated. What I want to say is even if they are secondary characters or even episodic, they are treated like they are main characters and that’s something impressive. Overall, what is important is that Love Lines is a great story that brings a whole different perspective about the love stories, it’s like a revolution. A story that covers all that is important in a book: mystery, great action, love bounds and legends. The book gives life to a new universe, on which I want to live and if there is a Even expecting for me I wouldn’t mind.
Diana Nixon is a talented author that is now one of my favourite among some contemporary authors.
If you are an adventurer that doesn’t mind to read about the love bounds or you are simply a fan of romance novels you should certainly read this book.
Actual rating 4.5 stars. First I would like to thank the amazing author of Love Lines, Diana Nixon for providing me with a digital copy of her book for review, I'm so glad I had the chance to read this. I'm a total sucker for the whole soul-mates, love at first sight, and two people being bonded kind of thing, which is why this book was perfect for me. Diana did a perfect blend of love, adventure and even a bit of mystery. The plot was so different from everything out there. There was no mention of vampires, werewolves, immortal beings or angels( not that I have anything against those books I mean I love most of them) however it was exciting to read about something so new. The seven families was so cool especially how each descendant bears resemblance to the founder of the family they are in. Which brings me to the Dever. I mean I really wish I could go to this school, the interaction between students, the lessons they have and the festival it's all just great. Diana's writing is excellent and I could actually get an image in my head of what Dever looked like. Eileen was a great heroine. She wasn't stubborn, obnoxious or annoying. She was able to realize what was best for her and didn't get angry at people for keeping certain things secret from her. There was a part in the book where I though she was going to be angry when she found out the truth, but she took it really well and I really respected that about her. She isn't a Mary Sue kind of heroine, but she realizes that there are certain things she shouldn't be involved in yet and I really respect that about her. Christian, he is amazing. He was sweet and open and almost had the boy next door vibe.In a way he was the typical YA hero, smart, talented, popular and let's face it hot, but he was also so much more than that. He wasn't the most powerful and still had a lot of things to learn which is something that made him really relatable. The relationship was perfect. Even though they had intense feelings for each other from the beginning, they really didn't give into them. There was a development to their relationship, so I wouldn't call it insta-love. This is definitely a great read with so many interesting elements that this book will be hard to put down. My only complaint which really isn't even that big of a deal is that there were small grammatical mistakes that confused me a little. However, it's not anything that would take away from the book or make reading it unpleasant. So add this book to your to-read lists and definitely check it out. This review also appears on my blog
This is a story about True love that never fails...Eileen and Christian are the decendants of ancient families, whose lives have always been kept secret...they are bound by magical spells...their fates reflect each others lives. Their love is a dream, their destiny is a curse. They possess the powers of nature, and speak the language of flowers. The color of their eyes keeps their secrets. Their dreams are prophetic, the whole world is in their hands...but one day, everything changes....magic takes away their love, feelings and their dreams....
The story takes place in modern England, beginning with a strange dream, which has been torturing Eileen for nights. After visiting a fortune teller with her best friend Amanda, Eileen finds out that she belongs to the mysterious world of unnatural and her destiny leads her to Dever - a closed university for people like her. Amanda's family is one of the seven founders of Dever, and also part of the magical world. At Dever Eileen meets Amanda's brother Christian, someone who she was bound to by a magical spell years ago, and it's love at first sight. Eileen and Christian are on a mission to seek answers to this powerful, magical bond. Their journey at Dever is fast paced and intriguing as they get ready for their new life, new friends and even new enemies.
Both characters Eileen and Christian narrate this story, each from thier point of view which I love! This book gets right into the plot, taking on an adventure of magic and spells, dark magic and evil. Don't worry, the author explains in detail the history of the families, and how they came to Dever University. No stone is left unturned, and the writing was so detailed, which left me wondering many times- how did she think of that?
Christian was definitely swoon worthy, sweet and kind. Eileen was a strong heroine, and I really enjoyed her character. She had to digest so much in such a little time, there were certain times I though she would explode from frustration, but she held her composure pretty well given the circumstances. I would have to say my favorite character was Evan, who is Christian's best friend. He was so charming and witty, and I loved his personality. He seemed to be sort of a lost soul at times, and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for him. My favorite parts of the story was the description of the love and developing relationship between Eileen and Christian. Their relationship seemed somewhat flawless to me, both characters were so intense in their devotion to each other.
I will read the sequel, I have fallen in love with Eileen, Christian and Evan and I can't wait to read more about these characters
The story : Eileen Clark discovers that she have some supernatural gift and she goes to Dever with her best friend Amanda. Every founding family has a supernatural gift and we enter in a world of magic and legend. Eileen sees Christian again, Amanda’s brother and it’s love at first sight. But hostile people want to steal Eileen’s powers.
The Characters : Eileen is smart, sweet and a little lost with her feelings. She’s also a strong person, she doesn’t hesitate to face the danger and it disturbs her to be protect constantly either by Christian or Evan. She doesn’t like that we hide things or lie to her. She has a huge power but doesn’t waste it. Her personality is well balance. Christian is adorable, he take care of Eileen. Their bond are so strong that he feels bad when he must lie to her. Even if it’s for her good. Amanda is Christian’s sister, she know everything about Dever and the supernatural gifts, because her parents are one of the founding family. She’s funny and I love her reactions. Evan is my favorite man, is handsome, smartass, he have a great sense of humor and joke every time he can. He’s confident, he knows what his powers are and he’s very strong. The first time he sees Eileen, he likes her but Christian is here first. The friendship between Eileen and Evan will be strong.
My review : Love lines is a book absolutely amazing. It had mystery, secret, magic, legend, love, friendship and funny moments. It’s told from 2 POV, Eileen and Christian and it’s great to see what they both think. The relation between Christian and Eileen is so passionate and like the entire little girl we all have dreaming of a love story like this, one day in our life. They love each other and even if it’s because of their bond, it makes no differences. It’s a mutual trust relationship. I like that in all the book Diana Nixon speak of Love and friendship, those subjects are important in the life. All the characters brought their own personality and made it more real. The details of the seven families and the explanation of the flower’s meaning was really nice. The details in the book are important for the story. And this ending is so so so bad if you don’t have songs of the Wings in your hands. The cover is absolutely gorgeous, I love the color, the character, I love this cover. She’s made by J.M Rising Horses. Diana Nixon has a real talent, she’s a great author and she’s very sweet. Thanks Diana for giving me the opportunity to read this awesome book.
Having been immersed in the world of vampires and werewolves for so long I wasn't exactly sure how I would take to a paranormal romance novel without them. I know that sounds silly, but after I began reading I realized this was right up my alley!
Diana Nixon has made for us Dever (with seven different groups Feta, Meridin, Venturo, Vero, Embry, Fairey, and Wizardy.), a place humans shouldn’t know exists, but there are those with extraordinary abilities who are allowed to know. She doesn't spare on the details and as you sink deeper and deeper into the world Diana created you feel as though you are a part of it. That is a great accomplishment for any writer, is to make the read feel a certain sense of realism and I think she captured it well.
It was a story filled with discovery, love at first sight, secrets, humor, and the most relatable scenes you could ask for. If I had been in their shoes, like I wanted to be in many times, I would have been thinking and feeling the same things. I could only describe some scenes with the word eerie as I found myself connecting so well with her characters. Being confused with them, understanding when they found our something knew, and unable to stop myself from wanting to know why her main two characters, Eileen and Christian, are bounded together?
I don’t want to give away the ending, but I have to say that I my stomach was twisted in knots so tightly bound and it made it impossible for me to not have to read the next book. Not that that’s a bad thing! Don’t get me wrong! It’s a wonderful read and I would suggest it to everyone no matter what kind of books you were into reading this is one you shouldn't pass up, but I want--no need to read more. I just can’t go without knowing what’s next to come out of Diana Nixon’s mind and we’re all in for a treat because her next book, Song of my Wind is soon to be released. But if you’re reading this review any time after the month of November 2012 you just might want to look it up and see if you can grab your copy already. I give it a five out of five.
I also want to take a moment to thank Diana Nixon for giving me a copy of her book and allowing me to read. It really has been a pleasure to dive into this imagery world and I can’t wait to do it again soon very soon. To learn more about Diana you can go to her website.

I wanna start this review by saying that I am very happy to be a host in this blog tour. Why?Because I.LOVED.THIS.BOOK!!!
“Love Lines” is everything a bookaholic needs.Beautiful cover, amazing story, smart characters,a sexy male character among those wonderful characters that never cease to amaze you and a great author, with an endless imagination.I sincerely don’t know how I could wait so many months until I read this book. One of my blogger friends, Amina, told me how amazing this book is, but something came up every time I wanted to read it.
What I loved the most? Love story! It’s just mind-blowing!! Smart built and complex, it will keep you guessing and hooked until the last page.I was amazed by every detail from it and as I was reading and getting deeper into the story,I was realizing what an amazing author and story-teller is Diana. She has an endless imagination and can create stories that everyone got to read and love.Diana, dear, you just got another fan here!
As I said, the characters never stop to amaze you.Diana’s characters are the kind of characters that are coming outside of the book and get alive. They are very well created, realistic and you can’t not love them.My favorite characters?Evan! He’s my new character crush!Evan’s flirty, funny, smart and protective and he has something that screames “I’m hot!I’m hot!I’m hot!’.He reminds me of Adrian from “The Vampire Academy” by Richelle Mead. The dialogues between Evan and Amanda made me laugh so hard!! I am sorry that they are not a cuple, but,at least, they have a reason not to be.
I loved the fact that the story is told by 2 characters: Christian and Eileen (such a beautiful name!).This fact helped me to know what was happening when Christian wasn’t with Eileen.
The action develops fast, the pages flying too quickly. I didn’t realize that I was coming to an end and I was shocked when I finished it. Fortunately, I could start off with the 2nd book immediately.
“Love Lines” is a true fantasy book! Though I thought that it will be a love story, is more than that. This book is about friendship, secrets, love and trust. It’s a book that captivates you and makes you love it from the start.
I am very happy that I started to read this series. I recommend it to everyone!!
Love Lines, by Diana Nixon, is a fantastic book that is very different from any of the paranormal books I have read. It has a story line that is amazing and made the book very interesting to read. There is so much mystery, history and love in the book that I just wanted to keep reading more and more.
Eileen Clark is a young beautiful girl, who has been having strange dreams at night. It has been torturing her for a while, so she decides to tell her best friend, Amanda Fairey, about it. She meets Amanda in town to go see a fortune teller, who predicts changes in Eileen’s life. That same afternoon, Eileen and Amanda receive a letter inviting them to attend Dever University to start a new life and get an education. This is when Eileen’s life changes.
Christian Fairey is Amanda’s older brother and has been attending Dever University for a while. When Christian meets Eileen, they feel a special connection, but they don’t know what it is yet. From that day on, they are always together and the feelings they have grow more and more everyday.
Amanda and Eileen meet Evan Murray, Christian’s best friend, and a few of the other students at Dever. Since Eileen isn’t eighteen yet, she has to wait a month before she can start classes. Evan will be her teacher until her eighteenth birthday. During this time, she finds out a lot of history about Dever. The college students there are descendants of the founding families and have elemental abilities (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.) The seven founding families are Meridin, Venturo, Feta, Embry, Fairey, Verno and Wizardry. This is where Eileen finds out that Evan is a descendant of the Wizardry Family and that Amanda and Christian’s father, Patrick Fairey, is a descendant of the Fairey Family.
The journey of Eileen and her friends has just begun. They will stumble upon more secrets of what is going on at Dever and with the founding families.
Diana Nixon is an amazing author and she did a really great job writing Love Lines. As I was reading, I could picture in my mind the bond of friendship that Eileen and her friends have and their journey together. The love that Eileen and Christian have for each other is pure and they are meant to be together. I am really looking forward to reading the sequel.
I heard only good things about this book and I decided to give it a try. I realized that I should of read it earlier, loved it! Diana Nixon has made for me Dever a place humans shouldn't know exists, but there are those with extraordinary abilities who are allowed to know. She doesn't spare on the details and as you sink deeper, and deeper into the world Diana created you feel as though you are a part of it. That is a great accomplishment for any writer, is to make the read feel a certain sense of realism and I think she captured it well. It was full of love, discovery, fighting for the real truth, humor, everything. I was wondering all the time what makes Eileen and Christian bound together. Let me tell you a bit about the book so you can understand what I’m telling you here. Eileen is a bright, wonderful blonde girl who likes to read, an amazing friend. Lately she’s been having this strange dreams, nightmares, that won’t let her sleep well. Amanda finds out about a women who can read Eileen palm and they go to here. It wasn't a wise decision, as they found out that Eileen supposed to be someone else. Eileen has been invited to a school that she had no idea existed. Upon her arrival at school she finds herself face to face with her best friends brother, Christian. What neither of them realize is that they have been brought together for a reason and that reason could just save both of their lives. The relationship was perfect. Even though they had intense feelings for each other from the beginning, they really didn't give into them. There was a development to their relationship, so I wouldn't call it instant love.
“He is your light, you are his darkness Losing him you will come to me.”
This is definitely a great read, with so many interesting elements that this book will be hard to put down. Diana Nixon is a great writer! I want to take a moment to thank Diana Nixon for giving me a copy of her books and allowing me to read them. It really has been a pleasure to dive into this imagery world!
I actually wanted to give this book a 3.5 stars rating. The extra starring is for the BEA-U-TIFUL Cover!
The concept of the book is a bit new. Normally it takes me time for getting used to the terms and new totally different reality to get into but with this book I fell right into the flow from the start. Of all the characters I liked Evan the most, because of his charm and quirky remarks. Eileen seems a bit nervous at times but when it counts she is very confident about what she wants. Christian the totally hard-but-melts when he sees Eileen is a adorable character. The story was totally unpredictable so I enjoyed reading it. Would I read the next book in the series? Definitely!
The negative parts for me were the spelling mistakes which for me are a huge deal. I hate spelling mistakes especially simple ones. The grammatical errors were just plain annoying! If these things weren't there I would have preferred to give this book a 4 star rating. Also there is the fact that too much was happening at very rapid speed and at the same time too. It got confusing sometimes. I would have liked the book much more if it had depth.
When looking at the cover it looks like a plain romance novel. If I picked books by the cover it would never had made my to read list. The best part of the book though was the mystery. I generally don't like too much mystery but this one kept me right on edge and pushed me to read further. The romance part of the book was good too. I liked the connection between Eileen and Christian. Personally I would have liked to see the tattoos on Eileen and Christian's back on the cover. It would definitely be much more beautiful to see on the cover. In spite of the negatives I would like to read the series but preferably without the grammatical errors and spelling mistakes! And I have been assured by Diana that she is already working at the spelling mistakes and other errors!
*A review copy was provided by the author for reviewing purposes* Thank you!
So, this was quite... interesting. I read this a week ago and I'm kind of procrastinating on everything since school just started this week.
Eileen is special. She has supernatural powers from her unknown father. So she had to go to this school with her best friend. People there are all like her, kids with supernatural talents.
Eileen meets Christian at Denver. Christian is Amanda's (Eileen's bff) brother. Eileen and Christian had one of those love-at-first-sight moments. I'm not such a big fan of those unless it's written well. They find out that they have a special bond that was made years ago. So they had figure out why and kill all the evil people and stuff. You know, the usual.
I wasn't that impressed by this book. This is one of those meh books. I felt weird reading about their kissing scenes. I think it was something about it feels really good like their bodies are on fire. I just felt weird, okay? Another one of my problems was how Eileen is so easily manipulated! I mean, the characters in this book created all kinds of distractions so Eileen wouldn't learn something about their mission. I mean, c'mon! So what if she knew? She's going to find out sooner or later anyways. Why not just rip off the bandage! And I think she's really slow at figuring things out.
It's probably just personal preference but I like a more kickass heroine. Eileen just... doesn't suit my taste. (Well that sounds weird) I wish this could have been more exciting. I feel like this just dragged on and on and ooooooooonnn. Okay, you get my point.
Well, if you feel like this sounds interesting, then go right ahead. I'm not going to stop you from reading it.
First of all, I have to say how much I loved this story. Paranormal will always be my first love when it comes to reading and I have read a lot, but Love Lines is just so ……… different. The story is fresh and nothing like anything I’ve ever read before. That made it a winner for me! As I continued reading, I was constantly surprised and amazed at Diana Nixon’s imagination as well as the amount of research she much have completed to write this book.
This story is definitely not a straight forward paranormal romance. There were so many twists and turns, I was constantly stopping and mentally saying “Oh my!” as events unfolded.
Of course, my favourite characters were Eileen and Christian and I liked that that this book was told from both their points of view. I really like it when an author tells a story this way. I always feel I’m getting a better insight into what is actually happening. But there was also other characters to love, in particular, Amanda (Eileen’s best friend) and Evan. Of course, there were also a few not-so-nice characters and one or two that keep you guessing. However, towards the end I was having difficulty keeping track of the various characters and their ‘abilities’. I found myself wishing that I had taken notes because I became confused at times at who was who. Maybe a glossary detailing the different branches of magic and the various characters could have been included. I know it would have made it easier for me.
The only true issue I had with Love Lines was the inversion of dialogue tags. This occurred throughout the book. Because of this, I had to reread sentences and this interrupted the flow of a very good story. I eventually was able to get my head around it, but it still annoyed me.
After saying all this, I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, especially since the first book ends with a cliff hanger. I gave Love Lines 4 out of 5 stars.
I was given this book by the author for review. When I read the blurb I thought it was going to be a good book. Then when I saw it was almost 500 pages I actually rolled my eyes because I haven't read a book of this size in a LONG TIME! The book actually started out a little bit slow for me. I thought that there was too much going on and it was not making sense to me. Then, *BOOM* Diana Nixon pulls it all together and let me just say this: AMAZING! The story is awesome and it was faster read than expected!
Best Part of Book: There were two thing that I really enjoyed about this book. 1) Christian. Oh I am such a sucker for a fictional boy and he is one for my list! His connection to Eileen is an immediate spark. I loved how he would do anything for her and how she need him as much as he needs her. Also, I love the backstories on how their love line became what they are now. It seems confusing at first but Diana Nixon really does pull it together. 2) Th puzzle and the mystery. Wow! It seems like each chapter pulls in a mystery but adds another piece to the puzzle. I love all of the characters that are trying to help solve. Evan and Amanda are very funny together when they nag on each other.
Not so great about the book: I will say it again, there are some parts confusing, BUT just stick with it because Diana Nixon pulls it all together! Also, do not be scared of the length of the book because once you get into the Christian and Eileen's world you will not want to leave!
This book is about a young girl (Eileen) who grew up without her father and she never knew why. Her best friend (Amanda) is from the Fairie family and they have certain magical abilities. The two friends are all set to go to the university that they want to go to when both are informed that they have to attend the "magical" university where Christine Fairie (Amanda's brother) attends and where Amanda's Father is a professor. Not happy, but having no choice--off the two go. Amanda is already 18 and has to start "classes" immediately. Eileen has a couple of months to go and is assigned a tutor to help her get acclimated. It becomes obvious early on in the story that Eileen has several if not all of the 5 magical abilities which is highly unusual.
It is also obvious from the start that Christine and Eileen have some kind of an instant attraction. But just how bonded are they? Quite a bit as it turns out including the exact same tattoo which reacts whenever they touch. I actually found myself grinning at some of the antics, they reminded me of my teenage years (without the magical abilities!) and the ins and outs of teenage boyfriend/girlfriend problems. They are also trying to figure out a couple of mysteries here.
Well, Eileen finally turns 18 and yes, she does ultimately find out who her Dad is and why she was never told--but then--and I found myself screaming---NO--the author leaves you hanging--Christine gets kidnapped by the ultimate bad guy--I sure hope the 2nd in this series comes out quickly!!!!!
So I'll start with a simple fact: This book is amazing!
It took me only two days to read the whole book because I couldn't even put it away. The plot contained everything I'm looking for - History, Mystery, Romance, Magic. And what I loved as well is that it was also about the four elements. There were a few spelling mistakes but they didn't bother me. Actually, I think it's amazing that Diana Nixon wrote the book in English in the first place, considering that it's not her mother tongue. I'm sure, I've got also some spelling mistakes given that English isn't my first language either.
The only thing that bothered me a little was the beginning. It was confusing remembering which family could do what but gradually you could keep up.
And have I already mentioned who my favorite character is? Well, whithout a doubt it's Evan. Apart from his looks -Who wouldn't love a guy with sky-blue eyes?-, I love his character. He's a smart, funny and good-natured person. I love his cheerfulness and frankness. Christian on the other hand appears more as the quiet, thoughtful type. And for Eileen...At the beginning she seemed a little bit annoyed with everyone but after a while you saw that she is a very kind and confident person.
I loved the complexity of the plot and I'm looking forward to the second book in the series. I hope it's as good as the first!
As a debut author Diana Nixon has a winner on her hands! This book has a solid foundation and plot. I really liked that the book got to the meat of the storyline and swung into full gear from the beginning. The storyline is good. The details of the seven families and what they can do was good. The explanation of the flowers and their meaning was a great touch. The history of the curse is solid and creative. It is very apparent that the thought and details put into the story are what makes the book so good. Once in a while I thought maybe things were going a bit fast to be considered possible. If I had to pick though too fast or to slow – Too Fast wins every time!! There was some gray areas with charactors and in the story line but I am guessing those will be addressed and explained in the next book. :) There was difficulty with dialogue and spelling mistakes but after emailing the author Diana she assured me they are being addressed. I was very fortunate to receive a digital copy of the book from the author with the only request that I write an honest review for the book. Diana let me know that she is working to get the ebook released as soon as she can for a quicker launch. I believe Diana Nixon has a real talent for writing. Some areas while I was reading left me in awe an completely sucked into the story. I look forward to the next book
Besides being haunted by dreams of the unknown, Eileen was a typical teenager and lives a normal life. Until the day she discovers she is not normal.
This story is beautifully written and has a different twist on magic. The reader follows Eileen to Dever, a school where she is to learn about her magic and how to use it. There she meets some new friends as well as learns a lot about herself and her family.
I really liked Eileen as the lead character. She was able to handle herself through all the changes her life was taking. Her personality was well balanced, not whiny or weak, yet not all knowing or powerful either. I enjoyed the addition her friends brought to the story as well. Amanda, Christian, and Evan each brought their own personalities to the story and made it come to life. The romance to the story was great as well – Christian and Eileen had definite chemistry from their very first meeting.
Overall, this book was filled with mystery and the plot kept me guessing. I was never quite sure which way it was going to go. The author's imaginative writing style and unique storyline made this a great read.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Diana has to be one of the most talented new authors. Her story is so different than anything else I have read recently. This book is fun because it gives you a completely different world to disappear to in your mind. The characters are well written. You can get a good feel for what type of person each character is, and once you know the characters you know how they will react in different situations. She wrote them beautifully. The college these kids go to is a work of art in itself and the way she describes it you can imagine the location in your mind perfectly. This is definitely a series I will follow all the way to the end! I'm already on my toes waiting for the next book. Nicely done Diana! Can't wait for another in this series, and many more to come! Thanks for giving me something to look forward to! If I had three thumbs I'd give it three thumbs up! ;)
I just finished this book, and I must say that this book was incredibly interesting. It is always difficult for me to be able to delve into a different world unlike our own, but Nixon did an excellent job of blending this new world so it completely made sense. As someone who reads all the time, this was a book that I went to on my Kindle at stoplights, in line at the grocery store, etc, because I was so interested in the world that was created. There are two narrators, two main characters who are interwoven together by circumstances not their own. Sometimes I found it slightly difficult to jump back and forth between the two, but I think that added to the intrigue of the story line. I recommend this book to anyone, and have actually already talked to my book buddies about it.
Love Lines is full of mystery, magic, friendship and love. Eileen Clark is eighteen, she has been invited to Denver University were only young men and women who are blessed with paranormal powers are invited. Amanda Fairey and her brother Christian also received an invited to the same University. Amanda and Christian is Eileen, best friends. This university is the only place that they can learn to master the powers that they have.
If you are looking for a books that has adventure with a mixer of mystery and throw in some love than this book is for you. Diana Nixon has written a book that you won’t want to put down. Right now I am going to stop right here, because I don’t want to give away any spoiler. This is a series that I will definitely be reading.
This is a great magical paranormal read that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It wasn’t your typical paranormal love story, and I found this really refreshing. With a smooth writing style, detailed descriptive nature and impressive character development, I was able to get completely engrossed in all of the character’s lives, including the more minor ones. I soon found myself turning page after page, not wanting to wait to see what was next in store and at no point was I disappointed. This is definitely a series I will continue to read.
I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review. What a truly wonderfully different story! I loved the journey that Eileen had to undergo and at such a rapid pace. There is no time to get bored with this book as it has you gripped from the start to the finish. I can't wait for book 2 to see if Eileen can save Christian.
There are some grammar mistakes but that does not detract from the story at all and certainly not to be worried about :) An excellent book to be enjoyed by all
"Love Lines" by Diana Nixon is my first read by this amazing author. It will not be my last. I was forwarded the book for an honest review and I have to say that I loved it. I enjoyed that the author starts off by giving us a synopsis of where the book is taking place, and characters. It makes a good line to follow along with what is happening in the story. It's a little bit of mystery, a little mythology, and a lot of good old fashioned romance.
I found this book intriguing from the beginning. I thought that as it went on it became more intriguing and I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen with the characters. The characters are easily likable, and the story flows well. This is a book I recommend to someone who wants a great paranormal read with a bit of a unique world created for them.
Fantastic novel that keeps you gripped from start to finish. The characters are well developed and you feel as though you are a part of them. This book is a must read for all paranormal fans.
