I think this was a good book but it didn't fit my personal interest. It had a good story line and used details that made me feel like i was actually at the game listening to all the hate and hurtful comments that were thrown at Jackie. my favorite character was Jackie Robinson because he was a fighter and blocked out all of the hate, he also was an amazing baseball player and didn't care that he was African American, he just wanted the play the sport and change the way people think and judge about his race. my favorite part about the book was when there was another coach on the apposing team that kept giving Jackie hate, every time he got up to bat the coach would start shouting out rude and hurtful things toward Jackie, until one time after he bats and strikes out Jackie breaks, he runs into the locker room and starts crying his coach walks in and tells him to be strong and block it out. Jackie waited till next time he was up to bat to show what hes really got, the coach comes back out screaming and yelling, going crazy, he blocks out the coach and hits a home run. this book had some very sad scenes such as when he starts crying because he gets named called and picked on by people and even by some off his teammates. this story gripped my attention because i wanted to see how Jackie would continue to impress and overcome obstacles. I recomend this book to anyone who likes a heroic and fighter type novel
I just read 42 The Official Movie Novel and I really liked the book. To understand my review, You must know a little about the book first. In this book, there is Jackie Robinson who is a African-American baseball player who is trying to play in the MLB, which all the players are white. Throughout the novel, he faces much discrimination and is even given death threats.
I gave this book a 5 out of 5 stars because it was on a topic that I love which is baseball. I've been playing baseball since I was young and have always liked the sport. One quote the author says is " They reached Ebbets Field, and as they entered the Dodgers locker room , everyone there to stop to look at Jackie.
Jackie Robinson is all about being who you are and not caring what other people say. Your skin color shouldn't matter at all , it is about who you are on the inside. Anyone should be aloud to do anything no matter their color, facial marks. America has to much excluding in it and it needs to stop. This is my claim on 42 The Jackie Robinson Story.
This book is for anyone who likes baseball. Also this book would be for kids ages 9-14. If there is anyone who doesn't like being discriminated, they should read this book and they might get some courage to not care what people say. Nobody likes being made fun of so anyone should read this book to say I don't care what you think.
The book is about an African American wanting to play for a big league team and gets the chance to play for the dodgers. They treat him not equal to the other players since he is African. Soon they find out that he is one of the best in the league. Now he is in the hall of fame for standing up for what he wanted and being one of the best.

This book is an autobiography of Jackie Robinson, the first african american to play in the MLB. When Jackie first joined the MLB he was on a succesful team, the Dodgers, when Jackie first joined the team he was hated, and made fun of by almost all the white people that followed or played baseball, including players on his own team. Jackie was taught to turn the other cheek by a close friend who without Jackie would have never been able to handle all the terrible comments. He was a white man but an important man in the baseball league. Jackie also had a teammate by the name of Pee Wee Reese who was also a white male. He stood by Jackie when the others would make fun of him. Jackie was one of the best on the team, over time the other players on the Dodgers came to realize that Jackie was just as good as they were, if not better. His teammates started showing him respect even when the croud was not. Jackie never showed any form of anger or hate toward the croud, he turned the other cheek. I thought this book was really good. I thought it was exciting and fun to read. I really enjoyed reading it because baseball is one of my favorite sports to play and watch. I know a lot about the sport so I understood a lot of the book. The MLB is very different today about how they treat blacks and whites. There are plenty of Black players and there are plenty of white players. Really today all they do is judge on how good they are. Overall, I thought this book was very good.
This is about jackie Robinson and how he started his baseball career. He was in the negro baseball league and the moved up to the MLB. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. When he was on the Dodgers the players did not want anything to do with him and ignored him. They wouldn't shower or do anything that he did. Once they realized that he was a good baseball player I think they started to like him a little better. After all he was the first african american baseball player. I thought this book was really good. I thought it was exciting and fun to read. I really enjoyed reading it because baseball is my favorite sport to play and watch. I know a lot about baseball so I understood a lot of the book. The MLB is very different today about how they treat blacks and whites. Genre: Non-Fiction Pages:160 Author: Aaron Rosenberg Summary: This book is about Jackie Robinson and how he started off baseball in the negro league and made it to the MLB to the Brooklyn. He started off his career with his teammates not wanting to shower with him just because he was black. After they got used to him they started respecting him. But, people still didn't like him because he was the first African American baseball player. comment: This was a great book! I Loved it so much because it shows a lot of respect but also it shows disrespect but that turns into respect by the end of the book. I think everyone should read this book even if you don't like baseball because its not about the game its about that stuff that happened.
The book 42 written by Aaron Rosenberg and is about a young boy named Jackie Robinson who grows up to become a wonderful baseball player. In the book Jackie had to go through a tough time. This time was the period where white people hated the African Americans. Nothing stopped Jackie he never stopped playing the game he loved. Jackie became one of the best players. When his time came the Brooklyn Dodgers signed Jackie. People did not like him because he was black but when the crowd saw how good Jackie was they started to except him. Jackie helped change the game of baseball. I recommend this book to anyone who likes history in baseball or just baseball. This book would be good for grade 6-8.
This is a novelization of the movie 42, about Jackie Robinson and the challenges and triumphs he faced as being the first African American player in Major League Baseball. The book is a quick read and would appeal to sports fans. It is a high interest low level book and many middle school students would enjoy it. I am not a sports fan so the baseball part was not as interesting as the civil rights parts. It felt a bit all over and rushed in parts and I wanted deeper character development. However, I can see why this would be popular with students and baseball fans.
42 was a harsh and brutal way to learn lessons but it does show that Cretan things will not be easy no matter what color or race, jackie Robinson is a motivated african american who shows how to stand up against racism and shows confidence on how to over come obstacles. i would recommend this because it's a beautiful story on how a african american over came certain obstacles that prevented him from success and show that african americans are just as good at baseball as are whites.
This book is based off the movie "42". Its a story about Jackie Robinson ever since he was a little boy. His story is incredible on how he broke the color barrier, and overcame all the hate and adversity. He wasnt even aloud in the team hotel at one point. The movie takes you back in time to see what it was like for an African American just trying to fulfill his dream. I recommended this book to anyone and everyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9RHq...
42: The True Story of Jackie sold out at my book fair in the spring. The publisher also sold out of this title. I knew I had to take a closer look at this book to see why it was so popular. The book is of course based on the movie 42. It was an easy, enjoyable that will fit in nicely in the biography section of my library.
The story of Jackie Robinson is truly one of the most inspirational stories I have ever read. The story of what a young African-American baseball player had to go through during the 40s. It really tells you the discipline he had to have to not fight back so he would not get kicked out of the league. He will go down as one of the best things to ever happen in the history of baseball.
I really enjoyed reading this book as I am a baseball player myself. It is absolutely insane how much hate Jackie received and how many doubters he had. He was an amazing and strong person to be able to stand up to it and not just play through it but succeed. This book taught me some lessons on how to turn the other cheek and use your enemies as motivation. I recommend this book for everyone.
I thought it was amzing! I liked how Jackie was able to maintain himself at games when people started telling him really mean stuff just because he was black. I also like how Jackie tries to be nice to everyone even white people.
