The Shuffling Dead Box-set

Rate this book
Enclosed within this box set are three of my zombie stories. The first two stories, The Unwashed Dead and Walking with Zombies are from my Zombie Armageddon series. The last story, ZombieDead is a stand-alone tale.

The Unwashed Dead
-------------------------

Breakspear Gardens was the roughest housing estate in the north of England. Smackheads, car thieves, burglars, violent ex-offenders, the estate had them all.

The residents thought they had seen every type of subversive human behaviour, but even they weren’t prepared when the dead began to walk.

In the midst of this sudden explosion of zombies crazing for live human flesh, A few locals manage to stay alive long enough to discover that the estate has been cut off from the outside world by gun toting soldiers.

Can they avoid their recently dead friends, family and neighbours from trying to consume them to find an alternative way out of the estate?

Walking with Zombies
------------------------
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Stockholm Club.

Have we got a special treat for you tonight! We’re privileged to have with us, a highly talented county and western singer, all the way from exotic Birmingham. I know that you’ll give the lad a fantastic Yorkshire welcome.

Don’t forget, the first drink is on the house.

Now before all you geriatric parasites slouch over to the bar and start making your way through my alcohol, I’d just also like to mention that there is a chance that some of my staff may turn into flesh eating zombies as the night wears on.

In fact, I think I can confidently predict that most of you will resemble jackal stripped zebra carcasses before the dawn sun makes an appearance.

So please enjoy tonight’s live entertainment and drink like there’s no tomorrow. Let’s face it; you ain’t going to be seeing it.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Despite attempts to quarantine the Breakspear housing estate, the infection has somehow spread further into the city. Whole neighbourhoods are falling to the undead plague.

On the outskirts, the staff and customers of the Stockholm Club have no idea that the moaning dead are slowly shambling towards them.

This story is the second book in the Zombie Armageddon series that started with The Unwashed Dead.

ZombieDead
--------------

The rotting dead slowly clawed their way through the hard packed grave soil. The risen corpse only had one purpose, to feed on the living.

Somewhere on the welsh border; the insular village of Seeton continues its usual business unaware that the world around them is falling prey to the reanimated dead. Their routine lives are abruptly turned on their heads when a lone scientist arrives in their village with the virus close behind.

Dean Kasnovski had arrived home, his mind laden with the guilt of leaving his fellow researchers to perish in the secret laboratory hidden deep under the streets of London.

Dean is positive that a cure can be found but he’s quickly running out of time. As the villagers, departed loved ones return to feast on their warm bodies, Seeton’s surviving population direct their hate at the strangers in the village.

Ian Woodhead is just past the age of forty. He lives in the north of England and is married to a wonderful woman. He has forgotten how many children he has. He had been writing for nearly twenty years but has only just gained the confidence to start showing his work. Ian finds it a little creepy writing about himself in the third person.

After having this set on my Kindle for months, I finally started them and I couldn't put it down! The first was very good, although I didn't like his frequently use of a particularly degrading word for women he seemed to like putting in every few sentences of the first chapter. I almost deleted the book because it was used so much and I did not want to go through the whole set coming across this word so often. BUT thankfully I gave it another chapter and was sucked in. With the exception of that word, the books were great, and he used the word much less in the second two books. A good story that kept me on the edge of my seat, and had some marvelous characters in it. The second one had an interesting development that I've never seen used before in any zombie movie or book I've come across. Very unique and well written! Although I would have liked to see a more in depth look at it and as to how it was caused in the two individuals and no one else. The third book of course has more wonderfully written characters and had a great conclusion that I wasn't expecting. All in all, I would recommend this set to anyone that loves zombies because it is highly entertaining and will suck you in quickly. I will be keeping this on my Kindle so I can read it again and I will be looking for more works by Ian!
