When two friends compete, one of them will be forced out.

Joey and Zach have always been best friends. They're also two of the best baseball players in their league, and shoo-ins for the all-star team at the end of the season. Their dream is to play together on the Center State select team, and they will do anything to help each other get there.

So when Zach is forced to go on an extra-credit field trip that would make him miss the championship game and his chances to move on, Joey comes up with a risky plan to bail him out. Everything should be fine—as long as no one finds out what they did.

Then the unthinkable happens: The boys learn there's only one open spot on the select team. Suddenly Joey and Zach go from being best friends to biggest rivals, and Joey has to decide his next move. He can play the biggest game of his life, or he can use their secret to force Zach out. How far should Joey go to win?

In this tense, action-packed story that takes an increasingly common dilemma in competitive sports to new heights, former NFL defensive end Tim Green perfectly captures the kids who will push themselves to the limit to compete—even if it means putting everything on the line.

I think the book was very inspiring because it shows many different moral levels. One thing I liked most is at the end one of the kids came forward with honesty and told the truth about what he had did to his teachers dog so he could play in a baseball game. It showed he was a very honest person. The books was very entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot.

I really liked this book with you not knowing what was going to happen as time went on in the book. It is about a boy named Joey who's bestfriend is Zach. It is the end of the school year and Zach is failing their science teachers, Mr.Kratz, class. The teacher gives them all a chance for extra credit if they go on a summer field trip, but it so happens to be planned on the same weekend as their baseball teams championship. So Joey and Zach devise a plan to keep Mr.Kratz from going to the field trip making Zach able to play in the championship. The team however loses the championship resulting in a loss of 2 possible spots to the center state select team. Zach makes the cut but Joey hoewever does not. This is about how Joey is battling real life problems like study for finals, keep the secret of drugging the dog and trying to not let his mom find out, as well as train his hardest to get a tryout for the select team.
I gave the book a five star rating because I really enjoyed reading it. The book caught my attention the whole time that I was reading and kept it. With how much suspense was in the book, it was hard to put down at times because I was so into it. I thought that turning off Mr.Kratz fuel line was dark and bad, it worked and was creative. I brought the book home and to school to read every here and there because it was so good. It was a very intreging book and was one of my favorites that I have read in a long while.
I think that I might give it a bit of a lower rating if I didn't like the parts inbetween with all the kids just talking but it was not all that boring to me. I also may have given it a four star if the mom found out earlier but she didn't so the whole book played out with suspense and adventure. I wouldn't change my star rating at all because I enjoyed reading this book very much and would possible read it again in a few years when I have forgotten what has happened.
My favorite quote of the book was at the end when Joeys mom had known that he clamped the teachers fuel line and had made an agreement with Mr.Kratz. It says "I made an agreement with Mr.Kratz and your father that, if you told the truth, I'd let you play. I had no idea if you were going to make the team, but you did. I'm proud of that, but I'm more proud that you told the truth." I really liked this quote because his mom had just taken a big secret he was hiding off of his back and wasn't mad about it as well as she let him play for the select team. It was a very good ending to the book and was a good resolution.
I feel like the theme of the book is to just tell the truth because its better than carrying a big burdon on your back. Throughout the book, Joey is trying so hard for other things while him and Zach are keeping this big burdon on their backs and are always worried that their secret is going to get discovered. As time goes on and on, Joey's mom gets more suspicous of him and eventually finds out but does not tell Joey because of his almost perfect score on Mr.Kratz test, they make the agreement and let things play out.
I would definitly recommend this book to any baseball and suspense lovers because it was a very good book and is one of my favorites that I have read.

Force Out
By: Tim Green

Tim Green always does an amazing job writing his books. Even though his books are fiction he can make them seem like that is happening or could be happening, also his books can teach you what you can do if your ever in some of the positions like they are in his books. He does a good job at adding details in that are actually happening in the world like certain people that you have most likely heard of. He adds some suspense to his stories just to make them more interesting and also to make you think more and make predictions of what is most likely going to happen next. Force Out’s Lexile Level is 760.

I believe that the central idea of this book is to always obey and not betray your friends. I believe that because in the book it says “Joey thought about the hole in Zach’s swing. If Cullen knew about Zach’s problem, he’d throw to the inside. Joey would have a lock on the select team” “He just couldn’t do it” (p.264-265). If Joey would have actually told Cullen about the hole in his bestfriends swing they wouldn’t be friends anymore just because a little competition. Joey decided not to tell Cullen because Zach was one of the only friends he really had and he just couldn’t afford to lose him. After the game Joey ended up winning the game and Zach was really angry at first but since Joey and Zach were friends he got over the fact that he lost and they just hung out after the game and didn’t even bring up the game because they knew one of them would get angry at the other and they didn’t want that happening otherwise they wouldn’t be friends anymore.

I highly recommend Tim Green books to everyone even if you're not really interested in sports books I think you might like his books. I think you would be most interested in these books if you played the sports that he writes about. Even if you don’t like reading I really think that you will like his books. I never liked to read until I found Tim Green books and now I love to read his books changed my whole perspective on reading and I think if you give his books a chance it might change yours also.

My book that i’m doing my book review on is Force Out. The book Force Out is authorized by Tim Green. The reading lexile of this book is 760L. This book is about a kid named Joey who wants to be on an all star team and he is sure that he best friend Zach is going to make it. On the other hand of the story he has a 200 question test that no one ever has go a 100% on that test. But he has to face that he threw toilet paper on a teacher car and he doesn’t want to get caught by his cop mom.

In the second paragraph I will be analyzing and telling the theme of this story. Joey has a hard time beating his best friend Zach in the race of going to the all star team. On the other hand he has a big test. He has studied for that test ever since he had go the study guide . When he go that test at the end of the year the test was handed out but he was a little uncertain on the question 112. He did has best as he could and go a 99.5% on the test and he kept asking how he got it wrong, but he eventually got the 100%. After that he go a spot on the team as a first baseman. I think that the moral of the story is that is you try your best it moves on in everyday life.

The Book Force Out was a good book. I recommend it for people in baseball trying to get moved up for trying to overachieve something. This book is a smooth read and some parts a predictable but most comes to surprise. My favorite part of this book was when he worked hard to get that 100% on the book. The character that I think that would stand out the most is Zach. He is always by Joeys side and giving him pointer on what he needs to succeed.

Above you rated this book. Explain in detail why you gave this book that score.
I rated this book as a 7. The reason that I had rated like this is because I like sports books and I just liked the twists that two best friends turned into two main rivals. The two main characters in this story are Zack and Joey. They were best friends at the beginning of this story but then turned into rivals. This happned because they were two of the best players in their league and they both went to the championship each year. Then this year there was only one open spot for the team. So they both worked as hard as they could and fought for the spot on the team.

Author’s purpose: The reason that he wrote this book was that he was showing that even the best of friends can get torn apart by something that they both wanted but only one could get. This is not right and he shows this by them making up in the outcome by the fact that they felt good that neither of them had made the team because neither of them really deserved it because of how they tried to get it.

Intended audience(s): This is intended to be touched by all people that have friends. The that I said this is because if they are really your best friend then little stuff like getting a spot on a team shouldn't affect your friendship at all. If anything you should be happy for your friend and Tim Green does show this at the end of the story and this is exactly why he wrote the story.

I really enjoyed reading the book Force Out. My expectations going into the book were very low. This because I haven't been able to fully read through a whole book in a very long time. I have had a hard time focusing during the books in struggled to stay hooked to the topic in past books. This book on the other hand had me hooked the whole way through. Force Out is a book about 2 best friends that love baseball. These best friends named Joey and Zach play on the same house league baseball team, The Blue Jays. Their goal was for them both to make the all-star team and then play very well during the all-star tournament to eventually play on the Central States team. This was an elite travel baseball team that travels everywhere. During their whole journey to Central States they run into a few roadblocks. These ranging from Girls to dogs being drugged to annoying kids on their team and the list goes on. Turns out that Zach makes All-stars easily but Joey's nemesis Butch Barrett made it over him. Joey was fuming with anger. How could Joey only be an alternate. Will Joey accomplish his goals to Central States? Overall, I really enjoyed this book for the baseball aspect of it. As a baseball player myself it is very easy for me to understand or relate to the story. Also, the competition aspect of it adds on to the story by giving it suspense. It makes me feel like if I stop reading there's always a cliff hanger. Furthermore, I enjoy the fact that the climax isn't until almost the very end of this story. This really helped me stay engaged with this book the whole way through.

For my book review I read Force Out, an action and sports book written by Tim Green. This book is really about when Joey the main character and Zach his best friend dream of making all-stars, and then go on to play for the center state select team. But to ensure that they both make the all-star team they do something drastic and something that they would regret. Also when it comes time for them to compete in the center state select tryout they go head to head and their friendship goes down the tubes. Will they regain their friendship? Will they get caught for their deed to ensure a spot on the all-star team? Read this four star book to find out. I really liked this book and it really kept me unable to predict what would happen next. For example every time you were thinking that you knew what was going to happen there was a huge plot twist and you were shocked. So the writer certainly kept me engaged by using that technique. I also think that there are a lot of different thees in this but he main one is to never stray from your friends because they are what really matters. The reason that I took off one star out of five was because it got a bit boring sometimes and you had to get through the bad parts but for the most part in was a great book. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who wants an action packed good book.

The book I just recently read was Force Out by Tim Green. It’s about a boy named Joey who takes the clamp off his teachers car so he and his best friend Zach can play in the championship game. He successfully does it but when the game is over it turns out that they lose the game and that it wasn’t really worth it. He does get put onto the all star team and the select state team and those are really good teams to play on. But in the end Joey’s Mom gets Zach to say something and then they both get in trouble but they kind of don’t. That happened because his mom already knew and she just wanted him to confess.
In my opinion the book was amazing and one of my favorite books ever. If I had the time to read it over and over I really would. I wouldn’t change anything because to book is amazing and it does not need any changes. If anybody found a good change for this book I would be amazed because of how good it is.
People who love baseball would really enjoys this because they would probably do the same thing that Joey and Zach did in the story. Also I would recommend this to people who just want to have a good time reading a good book.

The book Force Out by Tim Green is one of many books in Tim Green's series of books about sports. Force Out is another book about sports and rivalry. Two boys, Zach and Joey, are best friends. They have been great friends and have played baseball together for a long time. Both of them want to be famous baseball players when they get older. For now, they both want to play on the all-star team for their school. Zach may not be able to play in the all-star game because he has to go on an field trip for extra credit, so he does better in class. Joey does up with a plan to get each out of going on the field trip. Then the boys find out there is only one spot left on the team. Will the boys continue to be best friends or will they fight each other to get that last spot on the team? Find out what the boys decide to do.I gave this book a 9 out of 10, since it was full of action and suspense and I could definitely relate to it. If you like realistic fiction books and sports, you should read this book and all of Tim Green's books.

Zach is Joey’s best friends on and off the baseball field, so when Zach needs to ditch a science field trip that is scheduled on the same day as the Little League championship game, the sixth-graders are in it together. But their scheme comes back to haunt them when Zach makes the all-star team instead of Joey, and Joey has to wonder about something. but the cute girl likes one of them and they do not know who she likes. I would give this book at 4 out of 5 because there is not a lot of detail but there is a lot of weird things they say. But the lesson or moral of the story is if you get into a fight with a friend try to make up right away and don't leave eachother for a long period of time.

One boy vandalizes a teacher's truck to get another boy, his friend, out of a field trip that would make him miss a baseball game. He cuts the car's fuel line and drugs the teacher's dog. Then the kid lies about it the entire rest of the book until the last page when he confesses. His mother is a cop. The whole story centers around his anxiety that he will be found out or that he won't make it onto this baseball team.
His parents continually fight. He hates his baby brother. good cop, bad cop parents.
He goes to church and thinks there should be more said about mercy, because he has a guilty conscience. Page 97
There is much talk about the differences between boys and girls. Page 110 Then there is kissing, and leg rubbing, and dating in 6th grade. Pages 93, 114, 132.

I think this book had a great lesson and a great meaning it just was not put together in the best way. I like how the author showed how the main character was an honest and humble person. The author showed this because he mad the main character have a tough decision to decide and he made the decision and I like how the author did that. I also like the meaning of the story. Friends are more important than sports. When the main character had to make the decision keep a friend or play sports, he chose keep a friend.

I really enjoyed this book because there was some drama with Joey and Mr.Kratz, but it was also very exciting with him playing baseball and trying to make the select team and get to travel all across the country over the summer. I thought this book was a very good combination of suspense at times, but otherwise very fun and an easy book to read and like.

I think that Force out is a terrific book . Tim Green has wrote many books other than Force out. Tim has many books for 5-8 graders. This is my fourth book of his and it is the best book out of all of them. I really enjoyed this book! I can make may connections to this book by playing baseball and winning a championship playing baseball that is just a few connections to the book.

This book was wrote in third person but it seem like i'm in the book. I think Green does a great job in pulling the reader into the book. He also has a lot of stuff going on in the book. What I mean about that is it has multiable problems going on at once which makes you really think. Green makes the book like its a true story. Also its like a teens life with Jaden she likes him then a month later she likes someone else.

This is a great book I strongly recommened it. I liked most the aspescts of the book. The book was kind of confusing and boring in the start of the book. The book was i think a little easy but it was a good book to read. The book had some really good clif hangers and Green was pretty good at putting suspence in the book. The ending was ok that is the only thing that I didn't like about the book. I rate this book at a solid 5 out of 5 this was a great book to read i'm glad I picked it out.

Realistic fiction

Force out is about 2 sixth graders named Zachary and Joey. They are both extreme baseball players and male it too the championship game. Since Zachary had to go on a science feel trip to pass the class on the day of the game. Joey and Zachary ruin the teachers car and make the field trip canceled. Jory's mom is a detective who is on the case because Joey used a Valium pill to drug the dog. It is a Valium his mom owns. So while walking on thin ice Joey also fails in the championship game. He knew he still had to male the All star team because off his monster season. He got put as an alternative. On top off all of this he had finals in school and wants to ace the science one to impress the teacher and let go of the case. He does not ace the test. Another thing for him to worry about is his relationship with Leah. She likes him and he likes her but he always messes up with her. When Joey makes the All star team because of a kid who had to leave for a trombone concert. (Reality suspended) Joey goes and dominates the all stars him and two ther kids. That do so well they get called for center state select. The one kid makes it but Zachary and Joey have to compete for the spot. Zachary had a professional coach come and help him and Joey before in the all stars. Zachary had a hole in his swing. When they were set to compete Zachary acted all weird and snuck off and Joey realized Zachary had Ben practicing on his own. Also he caught Zachary taking a swing at his girlfriend. In In Tryouts a kid Joey does not like tells the pitcher about Zach's swing. At the end Zach thinks it is him and Joey makes the team. Joey's mom then talks to Zach because she acted like it was him but Joey told the truth and his mom said she knew all along and that she wanted the truth. Joey then convinces Zach he did not say anything about the hole and Zach believes him.

I really liked this book because it was always exciting and nail biting. In the beggening seen of the book Joey is sabotaging his teachers car to skip the field trip. Also I like how the best of friends always stick up for each other. If there is a kid that has beef with Joey Zach has beef with him too. In fact when Joey makes it as an alternative even though he deserved to be a starter on the all star team. Zach was going to help get a kid out to get him in.
Joey does make it in anyhow and dominates. Then comes the point in the story that I was kind of like wow They had to compete for one spot on the center state select team. I did not know what was going to happen I thought that they would decline or just say all or nothing or maybe even compete for fun. Then i realize that Zach starts to exclude Joey out of his life and even swings at his girlfriend i did not like this part of the book it really showed the trashy character people get when it comes to competition. I also did not like how at the end Zach blames Joey for telling about the hole in his swing to the pitcher at tryouts. It really though was not him. This book was a good story but the character changes were really bothering me. I also did not like how at the end Joey becomes friends with Zach again. I actually thing that shows Joey is a big guy {mentally] and also I think it is weird how ghis girlfriend suddenly goes from kissing him in the middle of the book then ignores and disses him when him and Zach have to compete and when Joey tells the truth about Mr Kratz the teachers car, she says you are awesome. This book is like the Giver it is a dissapointing ending. It was a happy ending but it showed a mood swing in the characters that would never happen just like that

Force Out by Tim Green is a book about two best friends Joey and Zach. They are two of the best baseball players in their area. In their little league season they made it to the championship game, but there was a problem. Joey and Zach share a dream. That is to make the all-star team, and eventually the center state select team. On the day of the championship game Zach had to go on a mandatory field trip due to bad grades. Without him they probably wouldn't win the game, so Joey comes up with a plan to help save Zach. In the middle of the night Joey and Zach ride their bikes to the science teacher Mr. Kratz's house. They drug his dog, and they clamp the fuel line on his truck. Mr. Kratz never showed up to the field trip, so Zach got to play in the championship game. Joey plays one of the worst games of his life, and they end up losing the game. Since they didn't win the game, they only had one automatic spot on the all-star team. Zach made the team, and Joey was put as the first alternate. On the day of the all-star tournament, Joey gets a call from his coach saying that Bryson Kelly had to go to a band field trip. That means Joey gets to play, and he didn't disappoint. Joey smacked 2 homers, and he made incredible plays in the field. After the tournament, which they won, Coach Tucker of the Center State Select Team talked to Joey and Zach. They both were given the opportunity to try out for the team. Except there's a problem. There is only one open spot on the team. Joey can't stop thinking about Mr. Kratz either. His mom took over the investigation, and she is so close to finding out who did it. Joey and Zach have a lot of work to do, and whoever makes the Center State Select Team might want to watch out for the Mr. Kratz investigation coming back to bite them. I liked this book because it was about my favorite sport, baseball. I also liked how the book explained everything very well. One thing I didn't like about this book is how it faced two best friends against each other. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports books with a side story.

I think this book was very detailed. It had many complications within the story. As the story kept going there was cliff hangers in almost every chapter. Tim Green added many conflicts through out the story.I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars because the ending is very bland, it doesn't reveal much information that I was hoping to find out about. The main characters Zach and Joey come face to face with a big problem at the end of the story that could cost them their friendship, will they figure out a solution or carry on? Thank you for reading my review!
