Brooke Thalberg is riding fence when she sees the smoke. Her barn is on fire and her only thought is to save the horses. A stranger is already in her barn freeing the horses when Brooke arrives, but it turns out he’s no stranger. He’s bad boy Adam DiSantos, back from the Marines.

Brooke and Adam both feel that attraction burning between them pretty much from the get-go, but both resolve to ignore it. When Adam gets hired on at her family’s ranch, it only makes Brooke that much more determined to ignore the sexy man working next to her day in and day out.

To Adam, she’s always been girl next door, while he lived on the wrong side of town. That’s why he stayed away from her in high school. She takes her responsibilities on the family ranch very seriously, and having Adam work for her is no different. In fact, she takes it even more seriously because she doesn’t want anyone to know she has a thing for Adam. Unfortunately that didn’t work for me-I felt that Brooke was playing the martyr when it came to Adam. She also called him soldier throughout the book, as in “Hey there soldier.” My complaint? He’s a Marine, not in the Army, so she should be saying “Hey there Marine” rather than “soldier.”

Their romance is slow, but steamy, and once the steam factor kicks in, watch out! I liked the fact that Adam wasn’t a bajillionaire, that he just needed an honest day’s work, and that when some trouble came his way, he handled it in the perfect way.

This is definitely a small-town cowboy-type romance that anyone who loves a town full of colorful characters, and main characters with major steam factor can enjoy.

Contemporary small town romance.

This is the second in a series of interconnected romances set in Valentine, Colorado. I did not read the first book and did not have any problem following the story or the characters.

This is a nice romance and I mean that in the best way. The romance is very sweet and mostly drama free, not a lot of tension, but a lot of warm feelings. If you like this type of story, you’re going to want to continue reading about the nice folks in Valentine.

The heroine, Brooke, is a little too perfect. It would have been nice if she would have had some endearing flaw. But her flaw is that she is bossy, not so endearing. She was also very deliberately drawn as a strong, well-adjusted, independent woman. The hero, Adam, was of the wounded warrior type. But really, not too wounded. Being around the warm and wonderful people of Valentine fixed him right up. I need to find this place, they have donuts.

I couldn't read a steady diet of this, but it really makes a nice break from some of the darker stuff I've been reading.

This story ended to quickly for me. Brooke and Josh just seemed to figure things out and I just didn't see that happening. Yes they had feelings for each other and those feelings were strong but they never really discuss it. Other misunderstandings seem to bring them to the conclusion that they cared for each other.

Brooke is a fun and loveable character. Strong personality and confident but not stereotypical beautiful even though she's gorgeous. She knows her own mind and she's had a good life. Like most people in her town she's in everyone's business and wants to help the people she loves.

Her friendships with Monica and Emily are sweet and full of female bonding. Oh and the grandmas are a hoot! Brooke has a well rounded life. Seeing her grow was fun.

Then there's the tortured discharged soldier, Adam. Oh Adam. It's a build up before the reader knows why he's so tortured. And you assume it's something about the war but it's all of the things. This town that he couldn't wait to leave. He's a soldier with a secret and it's hurting him so. He's quiet but super attracted to Brooke and he doesn't want to be. I love that his memories of Brooke aren't flattering. I also like that he's attracted to her when she doesn't look at her girliest. He doesn't try to undermine her strength which makes him a stronger man. He also grows in a way that is nice to see.

Good book. I really liked both Brooke and Adam. Brooke is happy working her family's ranch and is very good at what she does. Working with her two brothers she has to be strong and pretty forceful to hold her own with them. When Adam shows up just in time to help her rescue some horses from a burning barn she is happy to see him, but not expecting the shot of attraction she feels. She remembers him from high school when he was pretty full of himself and doesn't expect him to have changed. When her father hires Adam to help out on the ranch Brooke finds that working with him isn't so bad. He's a lot quieter than he used to be and willing to do whatever is needed. She finds that the more time she spends with him the more she likes him and the hotter the attraction burns. She doesn't feel right starting something with a man who is an employee of the ranch, but it becomes too hard to resist. She tried to convince herself that they were just having a nice quiet fling, but her feelings grew stronger. I thought she was a little too worried about appearances but it did add a bit of intrigue to the story.

Adam had come back to Valentine Valley to check up on his grandmother who appeared to be having some health issues. He is still dealing with the memories from his last tour in Afghanistan and the guilt he still feels. Now that he is back he has become something of a loner because he doesn't want to talk about his time overseas. He is happy to have the job as a ranch hand as it gets him away from his grandmother's meddling, but he is having a hard time resisting Brooke. The more time he spends with her the more content he is to be back in Valentine Valley. Pretty soon he is even able to open up to her about his memories and feelings about his friends. He finally realized that his feelings for Brooke had gone past simple lust and friendship. Now he just had to get over his feelings that he wasn't good enough for her. I also enjoyed the bits of his past that worked their way into the story through reminiscences of other people in the small town.

Besides the romance between Adam and Brooke, I really enjoyed the antics of the widows. They have set their sights on getting a new woman owned business approved for the town. It is a women's clothing/lingerie store called Leather and Lace and has a lot of support, but there is a contingent that is trying to ban it on moral grounds. I loved the way that the widows organized a demonstration in support of the store. I also liked the way that Adam's grandmother was working to keep Adam in town.

I also liked the way that Adam and Brooke got involved with the teenagers of Valentine Valley. Adam remembered what it was like to be the bad boy and what a difference it made to have an adult take a real interest in him. He did a great job at relating to Tyler and helping him over come his problems. Brooke discovered that she has a talent for teaching and looks at expanding her duties at the ranch to include those abilities. I really enjoyed the way that she worked with Steph to help her adjust to the appearance of a half sister and also assist her in helping her friend Tyler. The small town may be good a nosiness but they are also good at helping out where they are needed. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Adam Desantis, grew up in Valentine Valley, played football in high school, and was a bad boy at times. At eighteen years old, he joined the marines, and now he is back, visiting his grandmother whom he believes has health problems. Brooke Thalberg, sees Adam again, when he helps her save horses from a barn fire, and her family offers him a job on the ranch. Brooke finds Adam delicious, but has no interest in a relationship. But when Brook and Adam share a passionate embrace, she can't resist the sparks that fly between them. So they agree to have a "secret" relationship, one that they keep from everyone, especially her family and closest friends. Brooke feels more alive than ever, and Adam coming back from battle scars, finds himself healing from the past and looking forward to the future. But Adam wants more than a few secret nights making love before the fire, he wants a future because he has fallen hard for Brooke...can he convince her to take a leap of faith?

True Love At Silver Creek Ranch is the second installment in the Valentine Valley series. Last year I was able to discover this author, and each time I read her....I am always impressed, and this installment is no different. There is so much in her books....that just satisfy every romantic urge in me when I am reading a romance novel. She always come out on top for me...which is rare for a contemporary romance...not many authors in this genre can do it for me like Emma Cane can. This story I have been wanting to read for quite sometime. I have seen this couple in some of the later books of the series, and I have been anxiously waiting for a chance to read this. So I just couldn't contain my excitement when I was able to grab this from the library shelves.

The story begins when there is a barn on fire, and horses inside, and Brooke being the only one home at the ranch, knows its up to her...but there is a strange man she runs into that beats her to it....sexy Adam Desantis. From that first moment of meeting, we see some sexual tension between the two. At first they do this whole flirting dance with each other, until well one moment they are talking, and Adam shoves Brooke against the wall and kisses the hell out of her....tingles...one of my favorite parts of the books. I do love a man that goes after what he wants. We also see some other aspects of the story, involvement of the old biddies of the town, in defense of a lingerie shop....I never get enough of these ladies, makes me wish this place was real and I could live there!!

This story is such a warm and tender romance that pulled at my heartstrings!! The characters were fiery and passionate, and full of enough zest to appeal to any reader. A story that is guaranteed to warm you on a cold winters night and watch out for the ending...it might bring a tear to your eye and leave a smile on your face!! CHARM IN EVERY CHAPTER!!

This is a slow-moving slice-of-life contemporary Romance set in the small mountain town of Valentine. It has everything going for it that I enjoy: mountains, ranches, horses, strong female characters, attractive war-weary veteran male lead all wrapped up in a small town vibe. The story itself has some sweet ancillary elements to it that hang out in the background: community efforts to support veterans, a troubled teen who needs some guidance, a group of feisty Grandmas (“the Widows”), a businesswoman who just wants to help the women of Valentine feel pretty, refurbishing old buildings within the town into thriving businesses. These elements ghost in and out of the narrative and support that slice-of-life feel. However, the primary focus of the story – the romance between Brooke and Adam – took awhile to grow on me.

A lot of that has to do with how the story begins to take shape. First, the insta-attraction trope is used to develop a base for Brooke and Adam’s relationship. Rather than having the relationship develop organically, the attraction felt forced. Also, everyone starts immediately scheming to get them together. I kept asking why? The only answer I could come up with was because Adam was the proverbial prodigal son returned and Brooke was single. But that’s not really an answer for why two people should be together...

What a beautiful story. I loved the parts that shared a soldiers point of view on
the war and PTSD. The fact that it was about Kandohar made it all more important. I loved the way everyone in Valentine Valley 'helps' on another. They
are the way a true community should be. The main characters are awesome. But the secondary characters are awesome just as well. A beautifully told story.
It was the first Emma Cane book i had read, but it won't be the last. 5 stars.

This is the second in Cane’s Valentine Valley series, following A Town Called Valentine (February 2012, Nate Thalberg and Emily Murphy’s story). For the first half of the story, I liked the town better than I did the romance. Brooke and Adam seemed likeable enough, but I didn’t feel as if I knew them well enough to be fully engaged with their story—not even enough to believe strongly that they belonged together anywhere outside Adam’s bed. The characters became more fully dimensional by the second half, and I ended up believing in them as individuals and as a couple. But the time it took to reach that point kept the book from being all I wanted it to be.

I was also bothered because I was aware from very early in the book that I was missing parts of the story because I had not read the first book. I found Emily and Nate an appealing couple, and I plan to read their book. Not every reader may be bothered by the shadow stories, but for me, True Love suffered as a standalone. I never lost sight of its being the second book in a series for which I had not read the first book.

Although this story is set during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, it is still the perfect read for Valentine's Day! Emma Cane once again takes her readers to the charming town of Valentine Valley, where romance is always in the air and where love reigns!

I enjoyed this second book in Emma's series (her first book was "A Town Called Valentine"), and loved that she focused this story on Brooke, the sister of the hero of the first novel. Keeps it all in the family! The setting of the novel is fun, the characters are warm and personable, and the romance is lively and sexy! And I loved, loved, loved those sassy grandmas who live at the Widow's Boarding House!

Emma also addresses the problems that returning veterans have coming back to their communities in this story with a great deal of sensitivity and grace.

I highly recommend this novel for those who enjoy contemporary romance with a little sizzle and a lot of fun!

Brooke Thalberg has always been the cowgirl next door. She takes her responsibilities on the family ranch very seriously. When Adam Desantis, the town bad boy, arrives back into town and becomes her employee (GASP), she knows that any relationship between them is completely off the table.

But as in all good romances, these two just can't resist. They have a "secret romance" that everyone seems to know about (isn't that always how it is).

While I liked this book, if I had to read one more time that Brooke (or Adam's grandma) were concerned that he was going to leave unless he believed she was sick and helpless, I was going to puke. It became clear pretty early that he was not going anywhere and the "oh, I am afraid he is going to leave" really got old fast.

I would still recommend this book, especially if you have already read, A Town Called Valentine. In fact, you don't need to read A Town Called Valentine first -- this is a true stand alone book.

I was debating between 4 or 5 starts.
I like the story and the characters, and I liked this book more than the first one.

I know the author was introducing a few new characters in this story while keeping us updated on the Nate/Emily romance of the first book. She did a good job weaving the additions in the story without being distracting, however it felt a bit strange to not hear from Nate. Most of his thoughts were told by a third party, and Brooke hardly (maybe never) had a conversation with him during this book.

Adam is tricked home by his grandmother pretending poor health. He is a retired marine whose unit was hit be friendly fire. He is hired by the Thalberg's. Brooke is determined not to fall for an employee, but neither has much luck fighting the attraction.

Love the grandmothers and their support of "Leather and Lace." Also like the portrayal of working with youth, and the need for second chances.

4.5 Rating

If you love small town romances with some naughty nuances then Brooke and Adam’s story will entertain you. Brooke’s cowgirl toughness is well-matched with Adam’s ex-Marine silence to add some fireworks you hope will be their happy-ever-after.

Brooke Thalberg is happiest working alongside her brothers on their ranch, facing the harsh winters and long hours with every bit of the energy and confidence of a man. Oh sure, she likes girly things and she can clean up real nice, but when it comes to her career, working their ranch is her life. When she fights a barn fire with the help of a stranger who conveniently wanders in, Brooke realizes that she needs something more. Does this mean that this stranger whom Brooke recognizes as someone she knew in high school has ignited a fire deep inside her? In risking their lives have they somehow reconnected, or is she just craving a change in her life?

Adam Desantis joined the Marines, went to war and has the emotional scars to prove it. Worried about his grandma’s health, Adam returns to his hometown to spend some time with the woman who was more like his mother than his real one. The Widow’s Boardinghouse always has room for someone looking for a place to stay and his grandma, with the help of her widow friends, immediately set their sights on fixing Adam’s non-existent love life.

Adam has changed. He’s no longer the most popular guy in high school and most of the friends he had as a Marine are dead. He says very little but he listens to Brooke. Brooke is the bossy sister you’d expect on a ranch, able to hold her own against any man and not opposed to showing an ex-Marine who’s boss. Adam needs a job to keep him away from the meddling widows, and Brooke’s family just happens to be grateful enough to give him one. Just how long does Brooke think she can keep an ex-Marine submissive when all he can think about is taking control?

Brooke and Adam are very different from your normal couple and not who you would think of as long-term relationship material. Oh sure, you hope it’s possible because they obviously need each other, but their independence makes you wonder if they’ll recognize love before it’s too late.

Brooke lives a full life, she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to work hard to get it. She has plenty of friends and enjoys an active social life with no need for anyone to take care of her. Some of the best parts of this book are when Brooke takes control and taunts Adam beyond reason.

Adam is the strong, silent loner. Preferring a quiet evening by the fire, he’s not the type to go out to a bar to reunite with old friends or make new ones. Mainly because he can’t answer the questions he’s sure they’ll ask, without the guilt and memories of his war experience resurfacing.

For all their differences, there are two significant things that Brooke and Adam have in common—their raging sexual desire for one another and their passion for helping others above and beyond their own needs. Will passion and mutual respect convince them that they really need one another after all?

TRUE LOVE AT SILVER CREEK RANCH is book 2 in the VALENTINE VALLEY series by Emma Cane and although you won’t be confused by reading out of order, you’ll enjoy the reoccurrence of characters from book one if you’ve read it first.

If comparing the two, I think A TOWN CALLED VALENTINE overall was very special and perfect for the lead-in for the series. Sweet and fun-loving, it set the stage for this entertaining small town. TRUE LOVE AT SILVER CREEK RANCH serves as a nice supporting role that takes the sensuality up a notch and tosses in some naughty giggles. This leaves us wondering about Josh’s story next and if my inklings are correct, that book could give us some hanky-panky that’s going to rattle leather-artist Josh out of his quietude. I’m betting that structured and steady Josh is going to fall hard—for a woman who knows the tools of her trade.

As expected, the grandmas who put a capital M in meddling and match-making, a.k.a. the widows, go overboard to get a new business approved by some stuffy town council members. The widows add unexpected mischief to this sweet small town. Except, this time one of them adds a capital M to manipulative in their efforts to make their personal wishes come true. Can grandmas fool their grandkids, or embarrass them once again?

Something’s smoldering in Valentine Valley that may put more than a little sizzle in every woman’s step! Feeling beautiful in Valentine Valley goes deeper than most can see, and who doesn’t love a little naughty with their nice? It’s one of the reasons that I really enjoy these books. The characters are engaging, often in unexpected naughty ways that are laugh-out-loud funny. Author Emma Cane’s characterization builds in a charming manner with a little sizzle and pop to tease, revealing banter leaves the characters vulnerable and open for love at just the right moment, leaving the reader anxious for the laugh-out-loud one-liner that sums it all up at the end. TRUE LOVE AT SILVER CREEK RANCH is sweet contemporary fun with a little naughty streak zip-lining through the meddling!

I’ve been in the mood for cowboys lately, so combine that with a new-to-me author who writes darned sexy cowboys, I ended up with a fun and very heart-warming story.

Besides our sexy hero, Adam, what I enjoy about this book is the sense of family. Adam and Brooke come from opposite poles when it comes to family life. Brooke has two brothers who tease with her as siblings are wont to do and her parents have raised their children with love, taught them how to work hard, support each other, play, and be happy. Though she’s at a crossroad when it comes to the next step in her world, she’s well-rounded in all areas of life. Adam, on the other hand, was born to too-young parents who resented him when he changed their lives so drastically, and they punished him for it in any way they could. The one shining light during his growing-up years was his grandmother. He was constantly in trouble in school, and when it looked like he was headed for jail for a very long time, he was given a second chance. Joining the service was the best thing that happened to him, and now after his discharge when a mission went to hell, he’s returned home. He’s a completely different person than anyone in Valentine Valley remembers, and he’s still grieving the loss of the good men he served with.

Brooke, though, is the one who doesn’t give Adam the benefit of the doubt when they meet up again. In high school he was arrogant enough for five people. It takes working with him on her family’s ranch to discover the new Adam, the Adam who’s keeping secrets, the Adam who fans her flame sky high without much effort on his part. Adam is also giving Brooke a second look. She’s grown into a competent, hot, and very desirable woman. But she’s his boss. They shouldn’t get involved. Brooke is afraid of what her folks and brothers will think if she’s involved with a ranch hand. However, that doesn’t stop the attraction one bit, and their first go-round at lovemaking is hot and packed with longevity.

What’s also fun in this book is the secondary characters. There’s a whole host to keep you entertained, and they don’t interfere with the main romance at all. The major players are the grandmas. Both Adam’s and Brooke’s grandmothers, along with a friend of theirs, are always in the middle of goings-on in town, causing uproars no matter what they do. Some really nice comic relief. Then there’s Brooke’s girlfriends, Monica and Emily, who was the heroine in the first book of the series and is engaged to Brooke’s brother. I always enjoy girlfriend scenes. A woman needs her BFFs. Then there’s the youngsters in town, going through the same teenage angst Adam went through, and he’s trying to pay forward the kindness that was shown to him so many years before. These are only the highlights as far as secondary characters. There’s plenty more when you’re in downtown Valentine Valley.

Both Adam and Brooke have to work through their respective issues for their relationship to grow. Brooke needs independence, but she’s afraid to leave her family with so much going on. Adam needs to work through his guilt and learn that living is exactly what he needs to do. They’re a charming couple who have come into their own and are better than before for being together. So if you’ve not done it yet, take a moment to visit Valentine Valley. I think you’ll feel right at home once you get there.

With a catchy hearts-and-flowers name like Valentine Valley, it's no surprise that Emma Cane's Colorado town caters to lovers — and to romance readers, as well. Through a heart-stirring storyline and an entertaining array of relatable characters, Cane shows that Valentine offers more than the usual small-town charm — it's a haven for healing, a safe place to start over and a wellspring of well-meaning widows whose antics are as amusing as they are touching.

Cane addresses some sober issues (multiple sclerosis, PTSD, aging, financial difficulties) but keeps the focus on the developing romance. The conflicts between Adam and Brooke are more situational than emotional, yet the development of their relationship is downright engrossing. Cane excels at communicating an abundance of feelings through brief passages—passages that seethe with subtext. Here a startled, unsettled Brooke responds to Adam's comment that after 10 years, she doesn't seem to have changed much:

"I'm not sure it's flattering to be told I haven't changed."

"On the outside you've changed, maybe even in other ways I can't see."

Surprised, she looked at him again, and their gazes met and held for a long moment. Something hidden seemed to uncurl inside her, a sudden rising of desire that took her by surprise. He held himself so still, but it made her think of what strength he kept hidden, what emotions he restrained.

I loved watching these stubborn characters fall for each other in the midst of a caring and eccentric community. True Love at Silver Creek Ranch is charming, sexy and genuine, and I urge you to visit Valentine Valley and discover for yourself why the small town remains one of Cupid's favorite hangouts.

Brooke Thalberg is too busy helping her father and brothers run the Silver Creek Ranch to worry about a silly thing like love. Lately, though, she feels like there is something missing in the life she shares with her close-knit family. But it will take a barn fire to shake her from her comfort zone, to say nothing of the handsome stranger who rescues her beloved horses.

Adam Desantis knows better than anyone else that you cannot reclaim the past. In this case, he does not even care to try. He is back home after serving with the Marines in Afghanistan. Injured in mind and body, he knows he has no business getting involved with a woman like Brooke.

The more Adam and Brooke fight the attraction between them, the more it blossoms. Could it be that, with Brooke’s help, Adam can put to rest the pain in his past? It will take time, love and the opportunity to help a young man that reminds Adam so much of himself. In the end, it is impossible to say no, when the whole of Valentine Valley is saying yes!

Though primarily about Adam and Brooke’s romance, this book is also about the inhabitants of Valentine town. The vibrant secondary cast creates a new take on a familiar theme. Adam’s return to his hometown after suffering the horrors of serving in Afghanistan is well done. This winter tale is worth a look to those searching for a sweet love story.

Brooke and Adam were meant to be together. And Adam can make Brooke sing in all the right places. Great book about a warm and loving family taking care of the family ranch. Brooke saw that the family barn was on fire, and she raced toward it on her mount. Adam was already there helping to free the horses. And then he told her who he was, because she didn't recognize him. Oh, the bad boy of Valentine, CO. But he had grown up, and had been in the Marines, and had unfortunately gotten a bunch of his buddies killed with a larger bomb than should have been dropped in Iraq. And so he blamed himself. And he didn't feel like a hero at all. But he had come back to Valentine to check on his Grandma, who had raised him. His parents were drunks, and worthless, and didn't care about him too much. So over time, Brooke and Adam got together, and were hiding it from people, but most everyone found out that they were dating and were very happy for them. Adam helped with restoring homes for the veterans, and helped with a young kid who had taken ATVs for joy rides and was caught. And Brooke decided to allow Luke to do his community service at the ranch, so she and Adam could both help him get his life back together. And Brooke finally moved into an apartment above the bakery, and then Adam could stay all night with her since they weren't staying at the ranch where her parents and her brothers could see everything that was going on.

Brooke Thalberg doesn't have time to search for love. She works hard doing the everyday chores on her family's ranch and never gets a day off. Brooke is a relatable character that I think most women will be able to connect with, I know I did. Like a lot of women out there she just doesn't have the time to look for a relationship due to the amount of time she puts into her job.

When an ex-Marine returns to Valentine Valley to watch after his ailing grandmother, he quickly gets a job at Silver Creek Ranch as a hand to keep himself busy. From day one with Adam on the ranch I could tell that Brooke couldn't help the attraction she felt towards him. What I really enjoyed were the little tidbits brought in from Adam's childhood. Brooke went to school with him so she (and a few other characters) shines some light on his changes from a trouble maker to a dependable, sexy man.

Though the story was a little bit predictable, I couldn't put the book down. True Love at Silver Creek Ranch is a small town contemporary romance that had me enthralled from page one. I loved the believable relationships that Brooke had with all of the characters. I could feel the sparks between Adam and Brooke and the love shared with her friends and family. All in all I loved the book and cannot wait to read more from Emma Cane.

As a lover of Lavyrle Spencer novels but a great disliker of Nora Roberts' work, I wasn't sure how I would feel about True Love At Silver Creek Ranch. I'll tell you how I feel about it: LOVE.

Instead of being 100% romance (which I'm not so fond of), there's a story within these pages that- believe it or not- is more than just about a boy and a girl and some steamy moments. This is the story of the small town, Valentine Valley. It's a quintessential small town where everybody knows everything about everyone (whether you want them to or not); where the mom n' pop shop outsells Wal-Mart; where what happens behind closed doors isn't so closed at all.

Obviously, this is also a love story. The story of Brooke and Adam is a really lovely one. He grew up in this small town, the product of a broken condom and raised by a resentful mother. At age 18, he left to join the Marines. 11 years later, he's back with some skeletons in the closet. Brooke never left town, and runs the ranch with the rest of her family. Upon his return, she hires him as a ranchhand and, despote their attempts to ignore the sexual tension between them, they wind up tangled between the sheets.

It's a really cute romance novel. It makes me pine for a Valentine Valley of my very own.

Brooke is a 28 year old with set goals and morals until Adam walks into her life. Adam was the bad bot in highschool but going into the marines clearly changed him. Brooke, her family and the whole town are highly impressed by the man Adam has become. Adam uses his past and recent heart ache to help mentor a teenager in town, Tyler. Obviously Brooke and Adam have a little something going on.
This is a really cute book. It's different then the typical romance. There's more plot and less corniness. I really enjoyed it. There are a few errors but I received this free as an ARC through Goodreads .

Take a girl who is just realizing that her life has no direction add in a barn fire and a sexy stranger who helps her get the horses to safety and you get the jolt she needs to start living her life. The story is great as it deals with a woman trying to find herself in the middle of a loving family and a broken Marine trying to find himself after the horrors of war. The manage to help each other and form a close relationship as the town works its magic. A must read for Emma Cane fans or anyone wanting a sweet story to lose themselves in.

The problem I have with this type of review is that I don't really have any worthwhile complaints and I'm not good at putting my finger on why I like a story. Or why it's a good story. I'm sooo good at pointing out what I hated. So good.

This isn't my favorite type of book, the light and fluffy romance. But this was believable and fun. I got to spend a few hours in somebody else's life during an exciting time and the author did a nice job of giving me sweet and romantic without being sappy and cliche.

I'll definitely check out the next novel, especially if it's about Josh and Whitney. ;)

True Love at Silver Creek Ranch, the second installment in Emma Cane’s Valentine Valley series, is a sweet romance with engaging and likeable characters. Strong family ties and a small town setting add to this delightful novel’s appeal. To read my review in its entirety, please click HERE.
