Grey has been reading and writing erotica for nearly eight years, and the majority of works fall under contemporary romance occasionally with mild supernatural influences.
Dominick owned a Bed & Breakfast in a small town. When Sean, his cook/lover for many years, got an offer from a Seattle restaurant, Dom practically forced Sean to go, even after Sean asked Dom if he wanted Sean to stay. Soon after, Dom hired a new cook who was more interested in f*cking him (and he was happily obliged) than cooking. The new cook barely knew how to cook, yet, Dom kept him and asked other employees to help him. Without good food and strong leadership, everything fell apart. Guests cancelled. Bills mounted up. Dom still didn't want to ask for Sean. Is there anything that could change his mind?
This is a book that's based on author's misconception about men's stubbornness to act on their emotion. Heck, even Hunter, supposedly Dom's best friend, stubbornly rejected other employees' request to talk to Dom. "Doesn't matter. He will not listen to me!"
A jumping back and forth between current and flashback doesn't help at all. I got bored reading what happened in the past.
Dom is such a one-dimensional gloomy character, and he doesn't have a single quality that makes readers want to root for him. Many books have such character, but usually they grow into something else in the middle or end of the book. Not here. Perhaps the author wanted to aim for realism, but in reality, people would have left him long time ago instead of relying their livelihood on unstable boss who sleeps with inept cook and requires other employees to do the cook's job. .
Oh, I never fond of a 5-star rating comes from the Publisher of the book. I was prepared to give 2 stars, but I took one off because of this practice.
