Fiona and Tarr. Fiona and Aliss are twins. Fiona is the eldest and is to marry to unite two clans. To delay the marriage both twins pretend to be each other off and on to confuse Tarr on which one is Fiona. Aliss is the healer twin.
What is kind of cool about this twin story is that it takes Tarr a long time to know which twin is Fiona. He prefers the bold one (Fiona), but it is a mystery to him which twin is Fiona and therefore the one he wants to marry.

It was sweet and a lot of verbal fights and mischief... there was a mystery to be solved but I don't think it was well done.

I like it enough. The first part of the book was amazing. I love the trickery and the times Fiona and Tarr spent together. I kinda wished it was more plot-driven with the attacks and mysteries, but it's fine. I'm fine.

The other half was annoyingly bad. For someone who wanted to marry for love, Fiona was such a contradiction. She kept finding reasons to NOT marry Tarr (even after he confessed beautifully to her). I just wished she could be the badass she was earlier.

Good book with a marriage arrangement that doesn't go quite as planned. Fiona and her sister Aliss are identical twins. When their cousin and laird arranges a marriage between Fiona and another laird, she is furious. She only wants to marry a man she loves and who loves her in return. Aliss is equally outraged, even though she has no plans to marry either. So they decide that they will play up their twinness and refuses to identify which twin is which.

Tarr has chosen Fiona because of her reputation. He wants a wife who is equal to him in strength and courage. He doesn't believe that love has anything to do with marriage. He's not happy over their deception and takes both of them home with him until he can discover which one is Fiona. It turns out to be a bigger challenge than Tarr expected.

The attempts that Fiona and Aliss made to keep Tarr guessing were fantastic. Even though the two women really had different personalities, they were very good at portraying each other. I loved seeing how easily they could slide from one to the other and back again. His frustration at not being able to tell the difference was obvious, especially when he developed an attraction to one of them. He thought it was Fiona, but he couldn't be sure and it made him crazy. Fiona fought her feelings for him because he was clear that his feelings don't involved love. As they got to know each other the feelings got stronger. It was really fun to see Tarr fall without realizing that's what he was doing, though the people around him could see it easily enough.

When the twins' identities were finally revealed, Tarr still had to find a way to convince Fiona to marry him. He was still fighting the idea of love, though he began to suspect that those were indeed his feelings. I really enjoyed seeing the way they got to know each other and discovered just how compatible they were. I especially enjoyed seeing Tarr accept Fiona's abilities and include her, though sometimes under protest, in the plans he made. The attraction between them is really strong and I loved how giving in to it helped bring them closer. I wanted to shake Fiona a few times because of the way she resisted accepting the truth of his feelings once he figured them out. The way he explained things was really pretty sweet for a rough and tough warrior like him. It takes some straight talk from her sister and another to make her realize that it has been her own fears holding her back. I loved seeing them finally come together in full acceptance of their feelings and the realization that their love makes them stronger.

There were also some secondary storylines that complicated their lives. On the journey to Tarr's home they were attacked by members of a clan with whom Tarr has an ongoing disagreement over some land. Their leader is injured and captured, then cared for by Aliss. From the very beginning Raynor is able to tell the two women apart, though he doesn't let on to Tarr. Raynor's story adds an interesting twist to the book, as they discover that he has a very personal interest in the twins. What he has to tell them explains part of their background, but opens up new questions, and shows that they are in danger, though they do not know why. Fiona is taken, and though she is rescued, there are still unanswered questions.

There had been an attack from another enemy, one who seems to have a link to the mystery surrounding the twins. There is talk of confronting this man, but it hasn't been done by the end of the book. I expect that the second book in the duet will answer the questions that have been left hanging.

3.5 rounded up

Fun and entertaining if a bit repetitive. I was worried how the scenario would play out with the twins tricking the hero, but i was pleasantly surprised.
The last 30% dragged so hard, and it felt a bit anticlimactic. I wouldve liked a better resolution to the "danger" but🤷🏻‍♀️

Safety:
◇No om drama
◇ow drama not really, the twins trick the H at first pretending to be themselves and each other. The H doesnt know who he is with but knows he likes the fiona twin who is fiesty and bold, he never kisses the other twin and they have no on page time together
◇no cheating/sharing
◇virgin h, no manwhore H
◇no separation
◇H29, h21
◇HEA

4 stars. Refreshing personalities. Got a bit of whiplash from abrupt change in both of them. Some mystery that I didn’t fully grasp the root cause, though I did figure out the villain as soon as he was introduced.

Love that there were identical twins who fooled folks.

Much as I usually love Donna Fletcher's style and heroines and heroes and everything, plot twists and repetitive story included, this time I was just pissed off by the end of it.

So, like other reviews are saying, the first part of this book is actually pretty great and exactly what the summary promises--which, in turn, is what earns it three stars instead of two. Twins Fiona and Aliss are used to being together, but then Fiona has a marriage arranged for her, which goes against her free and open nature, yada yada yada. So, she concocts a plan to at least delay the marriage by making herself and Aliss indistinguishable from one another, which of course leaves the groom, Tarr, confused as to what the heck he's gotten himself into.

The first part of the story's pretty amusing, with Fiona and Tarr developing an attraction for one another, but all the while Fiona isn't giving up the ruse and still has Aliss and her switching places--just, er, not for the kissing bits, of course. Charming as this is, after a while when it's clear that Tarr and Fiona have fallen in love and therefore should just get together...

...well, the author sees fit to continue the back-and-forth banter and "yes but NO"-ness of Fiona just refusing to marry...just because. Like, the further on you get through the story, the less sense it makes for why this woman could possibly still have reserves about the marriage, even after hearing exactly what she wants from Tarr several times already, and not to mention having gotten her way just as much as any spoiled brat would. It was...irritating, to say the least, and I found myself losing patience with Fiona and wishing that Tarr would dump her--like any sane man outside of a romance novel would.

I'm therefore officially labeling Fiona a contrary heroine, as I'm not sure that she knows what she wants or that even we, the readers, are supposed to know what she even wants after a while. It's just confusing and unfocused, and takes away from the enjoyment of the mystery element that otherwise develops the plot.

Definitely one of the weaker reads by Donna Fletcher for me!

I will still be reading the sequel however, as I do like Aliss's character considerably more, and hope that her love story proceeds differently and is therefore more enjoyable as well!

Fiona finds herself betrothed to Tarr of the Hellewycks and is angry at being forced to wed a man she does not love. She and her sister concoct a scheme since they are indentical which has Tarr not sure who is who and takes them both to his castle. They tell him when he discovers which one is his betrothed, then they can marry. Tarr is angry h3e cannot tell the difference, and the twins play many tricks on him, but still, he finds himself drawn to one of them. It is Fiona or is it Alyss?

Really good! I am glad I am in this phase of trying out new-to-me authors for there are so many talented writers out there! Thank goodness for that.

Fiona is the daring, bold and protective twin. Being the older twin (for 10 minutes), she took on the role of provider and protector since her and her sister Aliss were children. Aliss is the healer, Fiona is the warrior. And it is this reason that her cousin agreed to wed her to the chieftain of clan Hellewyk since she’s stubborn and decisive, with clear leadership skills that threatened him and his position in their clan. But Fiona did not want to go and succumb quietly without a fight- she wanted to marry for love, not a stranger she didn’t know. So she hatched a plan with her sister and planned to confuse Tarr, her betrothed, on which twin is who, hoping to frustrate him enough and convince him to not marry her.

At a glance, you’d think this is just a run-of-the-mill medieval/ historical romance where the heroine is bullheaded, refusing to marry the hero and giving him a merry chase. The first half was indeed that; and it was both enjoyable and frustrating to read, but it definitely added to the allure of the book where Tarr was frustrated in trying to determine which twin was Fiona. In his end, he heard about the twins and chose Fiona to wed long before meeting her because of her courageous and strong personality. He wanted a woman who is his equal, and thus he is determined to win her.

Then we reach the next half of the book and things get really interesting. There is a mystery behind the twins’ past where they were abducted as babies and they do not know who and why it was done. I thoroughly enjoyed this part, especially after Fiona got over her contradictory nature and finally conceded her heart to Tarr, who had loved her already and declared it, and we get to read several hot and sweet moments this couple shared. I miss reading early happy ever afters, where several chapters are dedicated to the love the MCs share after the I-love-you’s were given. I love this book for giving me that.

The first half was good, but it was the last half that bumped this book into an almost 5 star read. The mystery that needs to be solved also added a lot of excitement for me. My only qualms is that there were too many POVs clumped in one chapter that sometimes it took effort to follow and identify which character was thinking what.

I am excited to jump into the next book, Aliss and the Wolf’s love story. Definitely a good read. 4.5 stars!

Drska blizanka (Blizanke #1)

It was okay okay..
The story was good..
But not well written..
None of the characters justified their roles..
Tart didn't seem like an exceptional warrior ..
Love and bonding and emotions were only in words between the twins with their parents..
Plot could have been presented in a better way..
Overall..a good story..not justified..

This book doesn’t disappoint. Well written, great characters and a storyline that keeps a reader fully engaged with twists and turns and a very happily ever after.

Can’t wait for book #2 in the series.

Really enjoyed this one. Loved the twin "switching" and how Tarr was frustrated with it. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I was disappointed in finding out more about the prophecy and having the prophet meet with the family to explain it. I feel it left at a dead end.

Plot had potential but was poorly executed. Stilted dialogue, grammatical errors, time period inconsistencies. Ended up skimming from about 25% through the end. Don't feel like I missed anything.

La sinopsis me llamo mucho la atención, sin embargo la historia romántica entre Fiona y Tarr no logro convencerme, y la trama de juego de gemelas se me hizo absurda.

Fiona MacElder's cousin, the laird of her clan, has betrothed her, sight unseen, to the laird of another clan. As is usual with heroines in these novels, she's not keen on marrying a guy she's never laid eyes on—in fact, she'll only marry for love. She and her twin, Aliss, make a pact. They'll make it impossible to tell them apart, so that he won't know which one he's supposed to marry.

Tarr of Hellewyk heard of the virago, Fiona, and she sounds perfect. He wants a woman who shares his interests (hunting, riding and making war) to help him lead his clan. Confounded by the twin's scheme, he decides to take them both until he can figure out which one he wants to marry. The spare, he'll send back.

Meanwhile, the twins have a secret. It turns out the people who raised them were not their parents. They were left, for reasons unknown, with this couple, who worked to train them to protect themselves, Fi by fighting, Aliss by healing. On her deathbed, the woman they knew as their mother made them swear that they would stay together until both of them married.

And it turns out a captive, an enemy of Tarr's, knows something about all this.

It's a good story, tho the villain was a bit too obvious. The why, though, wasn't entirely clear.

As always with Fletcher's books, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. As usual, there were some odd editorial issues that bugged me (she's to "bare" him sons, someone "fairs" well, etc.). Seriously, no writer is perfect—this is why publishers have editors. Where were Avon's?

3.5 stars.

But it's ok. Mau lanjut baca buku berikutnya dari Donna Fletcher.

I gave this four stars, but its really 3 1/2. It was a good story, but it was way too long. Everything could have been cut in half and it would have been fine.

The abduction story was okay, but little details were confusing or missing. And the culprit was sort of obvious to me early on, and really unnecessary. It gives his reason, but really, it didn't make sense.

The romance between Tarr and Fiona was sooooo long. And the only obstacle was her flakiness. It got really tiring. I liked Aliss, and I thought she would have a romance between her and Raynor until I found out differently.

I wouldn't mind reading the next one, but not one of my favorites. More of a time killer than anything else.

When Fiona is ordered to marry chieftain Tarr, she and her identical twin Aliss decide to refuse their true identities.

There is nothing truly bad about this book, but it was just a little bit on the dull side. Both Fiona and Tarr love each other very early in the book, but somehow that's not enough. Throw in a mysterious curse and abduction, and I'm never quite sure what's going on.
