Surprisingly, the vampire is kind, generous, and noble—so different from the others—and Kennedy soon finds himself enamored with the man. Though enchanted by Kennedy, Julius remains hesitant, fearful of the repercussions should his intolerant father discover his true feelings. When his secret is revealed and Kennedy is kidnapped, Julius won’t stop until he finds his mate. Unfortunately, rescuing his intended is only the beginning. Young and impetuous, Kennedy balks at the idea of an eternal binding, while Julius works through feelings of inferiority caused by a lifetime of abuse. When enemies become allies, and friends betray them, it only adds to the strain on their relationship. In the midst of chaos and uncertainty, an internal battle will rage as the pair struggles against their personal demons. War is easy. Love takes courage. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Another somewhat humorous look at a potential post-apocalyptic world, emerging paranormals included, had me smiling as much as the first book. The contrast between the human main character, Kennedy, and his vampire mate, Julius, is as obvious as can be. Until you take a second look and the human turns out to be a brat and the vampire a complete gentleman. What a hoot! Leave them in the wilderness on a trek to find freedom and adventure, fun, and hot between the sheet action (eventually) are guaranteed.

Kennedy has been taken prisoner – twice. First by Julius, which turned out fine, then thrown to the Harbringers and used as a punching bag. He doesn’t know which way is up and when Julius frees him he has a hard time adapting to yet another new type of order. They are on the run, trying to find a safe place and even though Julius scares him, he is also attracted beyond what is normal. Having to deal with the fact that his mate is a vampire isn’t easy, and admitting he is very, very attracted to the good-looking guy is only the first step.

Julius may look like a powerful vampire prince, but he is also a man with some dark secrets. He breaks away from his father's cruel rule because it is the right thing to do, but finds himself without an identity. It takes him a while to figure out how to find his balance, especially because Kennedy keeps throwing him off and is not at all like Julius expected. Not that he minds – but Julius doesn’t like being patient.

If you like adventures in a somewhat unlikely setting and with some humor thrown in for good measure, if you think vampires are hot, and if you want to find out what happens next in this vision of post-apocalyptic chaos, you will probably like this story.

So at the end of the first book, I'm thinking.. what comes next now? Must say I totally loved the fact that even thou Julius and Kennedy are mates that Kennedy doesn't simply 'fall into line.' They both still have issues to work around. I'm really looking forward to the next couple to work out their issues.

Let me start off by saying that, while you can read this book as a stand alone, you will get a lot more out of it by first reading Accepting the Impossible, Guide to Armageddon Book 1. Now, with that being said, I have to say that I enjoyed Book 1 more than I did this book.

This is a post apocalyptic world where most humans have died and many supernaturals have mutated and changed into harbingers, the monster bad guys. A lot happens in this book. Julius finds his mate in Kennedy and Julius' father, the King, won't accept a pathetic human as a mate for his disappointment of a son. The king forcibly takes Kennedy away from Julius and makes him a communal blood slave and then he yanks out Julius' canines as punishment. Three months later, Julius combines with Kennedy's brother Warren and Warren's mate to save Kennedy. They pick up a harbringer named Jael along the way. The harbingers are the bad guys here but Jael is different than the rest of them. Kennedy creates a blood bond between himself and Jael so that Jael will always look out for Julius' safety first. Part of their group betrays them. There is a big confrontation and then there is the set up for the next book and a HEA.

This story is a fast read but I have to say that it really didn't hold my attention very well. I never connected with either Julius or Kennedy and I never understood what they saw in each other besides feeling the mating pull. It takes a very long time for Julius to grow a backbone and he is wonderful when he does but it's at the end of the book and really too late for me to care. Kennedy is all over the place personalty wise. He is forceful and strong in one chapter and then whiny and childish in the next. I don't think that this is a bad book but it is something that I have read a hundred times before. As much as I liked Book 1, I will give then next sequel a try.

I liked the way both Keddedy and Julius grew in the story. The passionate scenes were hot ;)
