Retired Army Ranger Ian Jennings survived four tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He loves his new life, owning a Bed and Breakfast in Bisbee, Arizona, with the soul mate he searched for his entire life. Living on the Mexico Border seemed harmless enough...
Now his family is in danger, his life and dreams at stake, because of one decision. Time is running out and the Sinaloa Cartel won’t take no for an answer.
Set amid the stark beauty of Southeast Arizona and the brutal reality of the power of Mexican Cartels, Defenceless illustrates that our most insidious war is happening right here at home.
Heath Carnes lives in Tucson, Arizona with his wife and two children. He finds inspiration for writing everywhere he looks in the glory of the Sonoran Desert and in the struggles of the world around him. Everyday people find themselves in tough situations everyday. How they survive and grow defines their character…in life and in print.
Heath grew up in Texas and Oklahoma and was blessed to live the life of a city kid during the school year and as a farm worker and oil pumper’s assistant during the summers. After a short Army National Guard stint as both enlisted and officer, he received a BA in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma. Heath then launched a career in the first job he could find, the Hotel Industry. Thus began a 20 year career in cruises, hotels and hospitality that spanned 6 continents, 28 countries and one soul mate.
Heath has drawn from a lifetime of meeting unique people and a natural curiosity about the world around him to create the characters and plots that drive his novels. He transports you to his favorite places in Southern Arizona and Seattle. He also takes you behind the scenes of the hotel industry, starting with the fictitious Copper Hill Mansion B&B in Bisbee, though you’ll likely wish you could stay there!
Heath is the author of DEFENCELESS, an Ian Jennings novel. He is currently working on the first of a series featuring Logan Davis, a former US Marshall from Witness Protection that protects those that find themselves exposed once again to those that want to kill them.
