King's Blood #4

Vampire Descent

Rate this book
Jack King is a handsome, crafty vampire who tries to maintain his identity in a time when the daily erosion of privacy is the norm. He has managed to survive a changing world for decades and now must face an age of rapid globalization, fleeting romance, and social networks.

And just when his personal life takes an unexpected—and pleasant—turn, King learns his bloodline is worth a king's ransom. In a world where free markets and exploitation reign, one vampire is about to discover how mankind perceives his kind: as a monster, as a commodity, or as a being deserving of tolerance?

Part Four Description: Betrayed, Jack finds himself a prisoner of psychopathic corporate scientists who want to find out what makes him tick. They will stop at nothing to violate his very flesh in order to gain the secrets of his biology, as well as his corporate knowledge of a drug that could change medical history. Separated from his girlfriend, Holly, and his best friend, Ted, the only ones who can save Jack from a terrible fate are an offbeat group of Chinese vampires with a rich culture and history. Thrust into their unfamiliar culture and running from exploitative humans, Jack walks a fine line between his assimilation and loyalty to his human friends and his acceptance and growing knowledge of who he is, what he is, and his growing role in the future of his entire vampire species.

At this point you are so overwhelmed by what Jack has endured that you just want to break him out of the facility as fast as you can. Hoping that his dream visitor has saved Holly and Ted, Jack can only wait for the smoke and hit the decks in order to stay alive. Meeting Asian vigilante vampires, Jack is taken to a vampire older then time who enlightens Jack on life as a true vampire and why they needed to save him. Holly and Ted end up saved only to be jailed and Jack has to realize his true nature in order to save them all. Facing his past and his future Jack must give up his hold on a medicine that might just be the salvation for vampires. But he finds out the World governments will not give up that easily in trying to find out how vampires tick and soon he and his group are hunted as terrorists not just as vampires. Action packed and ending with a cliff hanger that just hints at where the story will go to next. I will definitely be looking for the next in the series!
