Boris Vasilyev

His father Lev Alexandrovich Vasilyev (1892—1968) came from a dynasty of military officers; he served in the Imperial Russian Army and took part in the First World War in the rank of Poruchik before joining the Red Army. Vasilyev's mother Elena Nikolaevna Alexeeva (1892—1978) belonged to a noble Alexeev family tree that traces its history back to the 15th century; her father was among the founders of the Circle of Tchaikovsky.
In 1941 Boris Vasilyev volunteered for the front line and joined a destruction battalion. He fought as part of the 3rd Guards Airborne Division up until 1943 when he was wounded in action and demobilized. After his World War II service, Vasiliev enrolled at the Malinovsky Tank Academy.
His short novel The Dawns Here Are Quiet was a Soviet bestseller, selling 1.8 million copies within a year after its publication in 1969. It was adapted for the stage and the screen; there is also an opera by Kirill Molchanov, and a Chinese TV series based on the story.
The Dawns Here Are Quiet was the first of Vasiliev's sentimental patriotic tales of female heroism in the Second World War ("Not on the Active List", 1974; "Tomorrow There Came War", 1984) which brought him renown in the Soviet Union, China, and other communist countries. Some of his books give a harsh picture of life in Stalin's Russia.
Vasiliev's short novel Don't Shoot the White Swans (1973), a milestone of Russian-language environmental fiction, is sharply critical of "the senseless destruction of beautiful creatures and the exploitation of nature for personal gain". It was made into a 1980 Soviet film.
Vasiliev was awarded the USSR State Prize for 1975 and was a member of the jury at the 39th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1989, he quit the USSR Communist Party but grew disillusioned with the Perestroika rather quickly. In October 1993, he signed the Letter of Forty-Two. Late in life, Vasiliev turned to historical fiction based on incidents from medieval Russian chronicles.

Очень необычная и душевная книга, сочитающая в себе множество проблем. Сложно даже сказать, кому больше сочувствуешь — Егору или тем жалким людям, которые его всячески притесняют.
"Он всегда жил тихо и застенчиво: все озирался, не мешает ли кому, не застит ли солнышка, не путается ли в ногах. За это бы от всей души спасибо ему сказать, но спасибо никто ему не говорил. Никто."
Егор — персонаж широкий, с доброй, всепрощающей русской душой, имеющей свойство любить людей такими, какие они есть, а зло, которое они делают, не замечать.
Работа в жизни главного героя занимает огромное место, поэтому он считает, что без хорошей работы человеку не радостно.
"— Главное дело, сынок, чтоб у тебя к работе всегда приятность была. Чтоб петь тебе хотелось, когда ты труд свой совершаешь. Потому тут хитрость такая: сколько радости пропето, столько обратно и вернется. И тогда все, кто работу твою увидит, тоже петь захотят."
Удивительно то, что в народе он прослыл "Бедоносцем" просто потому, что не мог через природу перешагнуть, ибо все жители его поселка считали это за слабость и безумие.
Back to reality
Очень жаль, что в нашем обществе мало таких Егоров Полушкиных. С каждым поколением отношение к природе становится все более и более потребительским и свинским. Но как написал автор: природа — дом человеку. Думаю, что не стоит превращать свой дом в помойную кучу.
Так же хотелось бы упомянуть то, как воспринимали Егора люди. И сейчас мы можем наблюдать, как люди искусства считаются сумасшедшими или просто ненормальными, а люди с отличным мнением просто считаются дураками. Хотелось бы, чтобы люди пытались друг друга понять, как и получилось у Юрия Петровича понять Полушкина в книге. Он увидел в нем человека творческого и принял его с уважением.
"Сколько желания сделать доброе человеку на жизнь отпущено?"

Как ни странно, мне не понравилось. Во-первых, название книги никак не раскрывается в её содержании. Точно так же, как и аннотация. Я такое не люблю, это же обман получается! В дополнение к этому, мне категорически не понравился главный герой! Как будто не взрослый мужчина с семьей, а ребёнок, чесслово. Ну и напоследок: если уж автор и хотел раскрыть тему широты/глубины души, возвышения духовного над материальным и показать, что все мы не такие, какими кажемся, то для меня все перечисленное было лишь поверхностно затронуто в данной книге. А я так надеялась на неё!

Ох, как много хочется написать, как мало слов, чтобы точно выразить что на душе. Васильев мастер писать о простых, но важных вещах просто и понятно, так что пробирает до самых потаённых уголков души. Он пишет так что ты с первой строчкой вздохнул, а выдохнул только прочитав последнюю.
Кто-то назовет Егора блаженным, дурачком. А я увидела искреннего, доброго, мягкого человека, который живёт в гармонии с природой. Как он сказал: человек не царь природы, "сын он ее, старший сыночек. Так разумным же будь, не вгоняй в гроб маменьку."
Побольше бы таких людей, глядишь и жилось бы всем вольготнее.
Кто-то назовет Егора блаженным, дурачком. А я увидела искреннего, доброго, мягкого человека, который живёт в гармонии с природой. Как он сказал: человек не царь природы, "сын он ее, старший сыночек. Так разумным же будь, не вгоняй в гроб маменьку."
Побольше бы таких людей, глядишь и жилось бы всем вольготнее.

I cried at the end wtf, I didn’t expect to cry at the end of this book. It was well written especially ‘don’t shoot the white swans’ so poetic, definitely my favorite story of the book. Yegor is an amazing character.
"Man suffers. Suffers a lot, my dear, kind friends. Why? Because we're all orphans, we are. Out of sorts with mother earth, in a row with father forest, in bitter separation from sister river.
And there's nothing to stand on, nothing to lean against, and nothing to refresh ourselves with. And this goes especially for you, my dear, kind friends. You suffer the most and the sky above you is grey. Ours is blue. And how can you have black on blue, I ask? Numbers on the blue of the heavens? No sir, dear friend, that's no good: arithmetic across the sky. It was meant for other things, for beauty, for the soul to breathe”.
"People have been thinking about the nature of evil and why it exists for a long time, Kolka. For as long as they've been on earth they've been racking their brains over it. Then one day they created a devil with a tail and horns in order to explain it all away. They thought up the devil and gave him all the responsibility for the evil in the world. So it wasn't people who were to blame, but the devil”.
“Why, girls, do you love the handsome…”
"Why the swans?" Yegor sighed. "Why? They decorate life."

Хорошо и глубоко. О том, что люди не то, чем кажутся, и в каждом может быть частица - если не бога, то чего-то прекрасного. Хотя по мне автор слишком уж на стороне своего героя. Герой способен на прекрасные поступки, но это же не значит, что все его поступки прекрасны. Многовато умиления. Но написано отлично.

Estava buscando ler mais sobre escritores russos contemporâneos ou escritoras ,pois fico um pouco frustrada como a literatura russa para acadêmicos e leitores só fica restrito a um seleto clube de 5 autores. Dostoievsky, Tolstoi entre outros são criadores de clássicos universais mas sinto falta de pequenas obras sobre pessoas comums, da Rússia rural,proletária pobre,longe da ordem e leis soviéticas, isto tudo tem neste obra que também apresenta uma subtrama ambientalista interessante e uma crítica suave ao aparente "perfeito " sistema e modelo soviético de vida e trabalho.

Estava buscando ler mais sobre escritores russos contemporâneos ou escritoras ,pois fico um pouco frustrada como a literatura russa para acadêmicos e leitores só fica restrito a um seleto clube de 5 autores. Dostoievsky, Tolstoi entre outros são criadores de clássicos universais mas sinto falta de pequenas obras sobre pessoas comums, da Rússia rural,proletária pobre,longe da ordem e leis soviéticas, isto tudo tem neste obra que também apresenta uma subtrama ambientalista interessante e uma crítica suave ao aparente "perfeito " sistema e modelo soviético de vida e trabalho.

Schießt nicht auf weiße Schwäne (Übersetzung von Wolfgang Köppe, Rowohlt 1986). Gewöhnungsbedürftiger Erzählstil, vermutlich der oralen Tradition angelehnt. Die Geschichte recht avantgardistisch, durch Umweltschutz als Hauptthema zum einen, und recht dunkel und nicht an eine unbedingte Auflösung aller Handlungsstränge interessiert. Unterhaltsam.
