This was one incredible book! The text, and most especially the photography were outstanding. History of the Navajo, the four corners (Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah) where you can stand with a foot in each one of the states! his book displays photographs centering on each of the Navajos four sacred mountains: Mount Blanca, (east), Mount Taylor, (north), San Francisco Peaks, (west) and Mount Hesperus (north). Produced by Arizona Highways and a Foreward by Tony Hillerman.

"I'll tell about the traditions and beliefs that shape our view of the world, our sacred places, and our connection to the awesome landscape of our homeland, declares photographer LeRoy DeJolie in describing his work. Some might ask why a cameraman born to the Dine' the name traditional Navajos call themselves- would see this landscape in a (different) way....The answer lies in cultural values," observes Tony Hillerman in his foreword."

Beautiful photos as well as insightful stories of Dine life. It makes me want to go hiking in the red rocks of Arizona, try fry bread in the four corners, and look again at the formations I just thought of as rock.
